Beans and Limes is a part of my daily routine and being a regular, I have my own custom dish with them, they serve the most delicious enchiladas.. they are not on the menu but if you see this review and crave them then be sure to ask for "The Dana Special". The owner, Miguel, is a genuinely kind hearted man who told me he makes me my enchiladas the same way his mother used to make them for him. I'm a vegetarian so it can be tricky to find yummy and sustainable meals but Beans and Limes have delicious veggie options. There's no way. Curiosity got the best of me. We got 2 guacamole tacos (one chicken, one asada), one cheese taco (asada), and one regular large taco (chicken), with an order of esquite, and 2 Cokes. Order was placed with the DoorDash app (even though I was parked right next door) and waited less than 30 minutes for my order to be ready. Since we ordered online, I cannot comment on their parking, seating, or service. Recently, someone told me they're back to their old standards, so I decided to give them another try -- and I'm so glad I did! The quality is not only back, but honestly better than before. I tried the loaded fries with nacho cheese, an extra add-on of mozzarella, and pinto beans -- absolutely delicious! Their tacos are also amazing, and the chips are always fresh and crispy. With Covid last year and most of this year, it has been awhile since I was in LA. I used to go to a street vendor type Taqueria that had very good Al Pastor tacos at the Mobile gas station on the corner of Sepulveda and Sherman Oaks. We were in town so I swung by the location looking for my late night street taco fix. The Beans and Lime Food Truck has the spot now so I decided to give it a try. I ordered a couple of carnitas and a couple of al pastor tacos. The carnitas were excellent, tender, flavorful and overall with the onions and cilantro, one of the better carnitas street tacos. The al pastor tacos were good but the flavor was not as robust as the previous street taco vendor. I have kinda mixed feelings about this place. Ordered a burrito and nachos from here. Paid extra for guacamole on the nachos. Food shows up. There is no guacamole to be found anywhere. And it really was a missing element. Burrito had sticky white rice which just felt wrong, kinda like a sushi hand roll. No guacamole in there either, no sour cream... kinda dry. This place is on another level of amazing when it comes to a food truck. I was in the neighborhood and this was the only place open at about 1am on a Wednesday when I tell you I was amazed by the quality of food and service mannnn I was like I need that again. The ambiance for a parking lot is dope as they have places for you to sit and eat high top bars stools and tables or you can eat in you car. Mmmmm Beans and Limes, where do I start? For as overpriced as Mexican street food usually is nowadays, I think the standard in quality should also be high. I ordered two things, the loaded fries with carne asada and a mulitas with chorizo. The loaded fries is, as it always is, pretty good. I like that the toppings are put on the side. The portion size is also pretty good for something that's over 15 bucks. I definitely recommend, BUT you also have to get that spicy salsa to go with it. The spicy salsa adds an extra kick that really just enhances the experience. The mulitas on the other hand was a bit of a disappointment. The chorizo DID NOT taste like chorizo whatsoever!! It look like smaller and more charred pieces of ground beef. The bottom of it was soaked in grease as well, which was not ideal. It's portion size is good, but to buy 1 mulitas for 7 dollars, I'd expect it to not be swimming in a pool of grease, considering that I only live about ten minutes away, I know it's not a time issue that caused it to be full of grease. And if what I received is in fact chorizo, I have to say that is the worst chorizo I've ever had!! And that's saying something because I've had some overly salty chorizo from some places before, but at least I can tell it's chorizo! All in all, I can say the loaded fries are pretty solid here, and you really can't go wrong with them, but they also need the extra sauces to elevate them. The mulita itself has the standard flavor you want from one, but the rest is... questionable. Sorry, but if it hadn't been for the discount I received from Postmates, I would've been really disappointed.
