Pollo adobado torta with jalapeños and Oaxaca cheese

Knowing there's a place with cemitas, made my heart happy. Back home in Puebla, (México) the birthplace of Cemitas, I grew up going to the market and eating these. This place is hidden in the middle of the valley, run down but I don't personally care as long as the food is worth it. They have clean bathrooms, and the lady in the front was super nice and informative, I asked about the different cemitas and she was nice to explain. What will keep me from coming here is the price. And she noticed because I opened my eyes wide when she told me the total. 53 dollars. Two cemitas and two sodas. In this economy this is a travesty. But to be fair, the food was tasty, hot, well seasoned and fresh. The chipotle sauce and jalapeños bring it all together. We ordered one árabe and one pollo adobado. They are generous with their portions and it's hot off the grill. The same lady gave me extra lemons and chipotle salsa to go because I could not finish mine and it was a great lunch the next day. Service: 5 out of 5 Location: 3, run down and hot in there. Don't think they have the AC on. If they have one. Parking: great, there's a lot on the back that is shared with other businesses. Food: 4 out of 5 Will come here again but not often because it is a steep price for what it is.

Cemitas were first introduced to me about 8 years ago during an epic night mission in the LA area. Since then we have been on a search for them here in the valley (Fresno) and have been unsuccessful. Any time I am in So Cal I make it a point to keep an eye out for a Cemita themed food truck and sometimes its like trying to find Waldo. Anywho, on a recent trip to Disneyland, I had total recollection of this cemita and could taste it's meaty goodness so I opened up Yelp and found an actual brick and mortar place that sold mainly cemitas. I was shocked to see the different varieties offered and learned that these Oaxacan sandwiches are quite popular among the So Cal Residents. (Lucky them) The place itself is a bit run down, but I don't mind. These places to me are often the best. Parking can be tricky so have patience. Prices were reasonable and the taste.....oh the taste of these handheld thingamabobs were enough to want to take a few home and freeze them, but unfortunately we live 4 hours away and it wouldn't be a smart choice. I ordered the traditional Milanesa and the meat was clean (no fat or nerve) crispy and just right in size. It could've used a bit more flavor but I like things a bit more on the salty size. The bread was perfect and the cheese was extra stretchy and yummy. Overall 4/5. Hopefully I get to return, if not I am glad to have filled my belly at least once with Cemitas Don Adrian.

Rather than it being expensive for just a torta I found hairs in my food. And the lady was being hesitant when I asked her for salsas and it ended up being empty. It's extra for more salsa n limes

Cemita de milanesa de pollo/breaded chicken "sandwich" lol

I had been wanting to try a cemita poblana for a while now and yesterday Sunday happened to be the day. Without even planning it we drove down victory, saw the Cemitas poblanas spot on victory and decided to go to the Van Nuys Blvd one. Parking is found in the back entrance of the establishment. The interior although it looked clean it definitely needs a make over. The woman taking the orders was polite and professional. They have lots of cemitas to choose from I got a large cesina one which is cured or dried beef and my wife got a small chicken milanesa. We also got an order of chalupas. All 3 items were superb. They had plenty of avocado, the quesillo gives it so much flavor and the red salsa definitely made it explosive and rich in taste. We enjoyed them very much, and could have easily gotten away with one cemita and an order of chalupas. I dont regret getting all 3, since I got to try 3 of their menu items. Prices aren't at all reasonable in my opinion. I thought they were on the higher side. I paid $61 for 2 cemitas, an order of chalupas and 2 jarritos. I guess it's okay for the amount of food you get. I didnt see any agua frescas otherwise I would have gotten one. However, upon leaving a saw other people who had what it looked like lemonade water. Which makes me think they probably do have aguas frescas but not on display for customers to see as an option. Customer service I thought was good, both ladies, the cashier and the cook were helpful when we asked for napkins and a box. Overall, the food was on fresh, the bun was toasted to perfection, indulging and plentiful and it did not disappoint. I'll definitely come back for more cemitas maybe to take out and enjoy at home.

I use to come to this place once a week about 8 years ago. It was my go to spot, since I worked 10 minutes away. I am glade the place is still open . There is street parking ( meter parking) and parking in the back. My favorite is a cemita de milanesa de pollo . It's basically breaded chicken with chipotle Chile , avocado onion cheese ( blocked) and shredded cheese. This place is clean , quick and authentic

My favorite it the milanesa de pollo with chipotle of course and both cheeses

The camitas here are huge and so delicious I love the chipotle and the cheese they add. The bread is crispy and delicious but not hard.

Las mejores del valley de san Fernando. Cemitas de todo. Comida Fresca y trabajadores amables

    Adobada Cemita

I was out in the Van Nuys area for work and grabbed lunch with some co workers at this place. The menu doesn't have a huge variety it's mainly based on their specialty which is "Cemitas". I had never heard of Cemitas before but it's very similar to a traditional Torta with a small twist from Puebla I believe. They have different meats for their Cemitas but I went with the Adobada cemita and a cucumber lime agua Fresca. They both didn't disappoint and if I were in the area I'd stop by again. The inside is pretty average not fancy not ghetto just kind of a regular grab n go lunch spot. They do accept Apple Pay which is always convenient and they have 2 entrances one in the front and in the back as well. Parking is easier in the back since the front is a busy Main Street. I hope this helps anyone looking to check this place out.

However, after a two-year absence, my recent visit to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom was disappointing. We arrived in the late afternoon, hoping to avoid the crowds, and put our name down. Unfortunately, after waiting 30 minutes for an update, we discovered that our name hadn't even been recorded. Once we were finally seated, there was a significant delay in receiving our drinks and chips. I noticed one server struggling, dropping food for different tables, which was unfortunate. To add to our frustrations, they forgot our tostada Chiquita, which was later brought out with our main dishes. I ordered carne asada with cheese enchiladas and chile relleno, but the meal lacked the flavor I remembered. The service was inconsistent; they continually forgot our drinks and chips. On a positive note, the ambience was lovely, and I still adore the classic LA decor. Despite the nostalgic charm of Casa Vega, this experience left me hoping for improvements in both service and food quality for future visits.

This was my first visit to this location. There was only one person ahead of me when I lined up to order around 9:50 am on a Monday. Service was friendly, and they bring your food out to you after you order at the counter. I ordered the Lonestar Migas (5/5) that was packed with brisket, cheddar, and pico de gallo. It's delicious and pretty filling on its own! For breakfast tacos, I got the Don't Mess With Texas (5/5) which is a MUST try. A perfect breakfast taco! I also got the Guadalupe (4/5) which was good but I realized I'm less of a chorizo fan and prefer the brisket or bacon I had with my other menu items. The outdoor area is also dog friendly!
