Casa Vega holds a special place in my heart, having been a loyal patron for 30 years. I have countless wonderful memories here, including moments when Ray Vega himself would stop by our table for a friendly chat. However, after a two-year absence, my recent visit to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom was disappointing. We arrived in the late afternoon, hoping to avoid the crowds, and put our name down. Unfortunately, after waiting 30 minutes for an update, we discovered that our name hadn't even been recorded. Once we were finally seated, there was a significant delay in receiving our drinks and chips. I noticed one server struggling, dropping food for different tables, which was unfortunate. To add to our frustrations, they forgot our tostada Chiquita, which was later brought out with our main dishes. I ordered carne asada with cheese enchiladas and chile relleno, but the meal lacked the flavor I remembered. The service was inconsistent; they continually forgot our drinks and chips. On a positive note, the ambience was lovely, and I still adore the classic LA decor. Despite the nostalgic charm of Casa Vega, this experience left me hoping for improvements in both service and food quality for future visits.

Honestly, what is all the fuss about? Why so many negative reviews about this place? I have been here twice before, many years ago. Tonight was my third time dining here since my son and I decided to go out for dinner. It really hit the spot after not having Mexican food for a very long time. We walked in on a Friday night with no reservations and were seated immediately, even though the restaurant was already busy and they still had many reservations coming in. I was very uncomfortable and didn't like the corner table we were given at first, but Patrick was able to accommodate us right away and gave us a new table that was much better. Jorge was our server and he was cordial and professional. You can tell he knows his job and the menu well. Johnathan brought our food and kindly took our pictures for us. The complimentary chips and salsa came out first and I will agree with other reviews that the chips were kind of stale. The salsa was delicious. I ordered the Lobster Enchiladas that came with a Tomatillo Sauce, rice/refried beans and a side of sour cream & guacamole ($32). It was absolutely delicious and a very filling portion. I asked for light sauce and got exactly that. They also didn't skimp on the amount of lobster. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and barely have any leftovers for tomorrow. My son ordered the Pollo Asado plate and although he liked it, he said he wouldn't have ordered it if he knew it was going to be a bone-in half chicken plate. It doesn't say that on the menu. His also came with a tomatillo sauce, rice/beans and a side of sour cream/guacamole, with 3 corn tortillas. ($30) You can always ask for flour as well. They have a full bar here and the drinks are EXCELLENT! I had a Frozen Coconut Margarita ($18) which was PERFECTION!!! So silky, smooth, DELICIOUS! I was about to lick the glass clean. My son had the Guava Margarita ($18) and loved it as well. Very well balanced and I also thought it was great and I don't even like Guava. Again, I don't know why there are so many bad reviews! We had a very nice experience and would come back in the future. It's a very clean, charming, pretty, and fun place with good energy, good food, and good drinks. What's not to like? Valet parking/street parking. Bathrooms were also very clean!!

Well, I was very lucky. The service is always incredible here and Xavier is an amazing server. I've been a server for a long time, but I gotta tell you that server is one of the best the steak burrito was beyond delicious I can't believe I ate the whole thing. I won't be eating any more meals for another 12 hours, but it was so delicious the melted cheese, the sauce, and of course, the sour cream and guacamole. All fresh each bite going down even faster before I realized... I was ready for more lol I'll be back.!

Came here tonight for a friend's birthday! We had the perfect table. Ben our server was absolutely amazing!! Very attentive and so much fun!! The food was hot and fresh!! Ben gave him a birthday flan that was delicious!! We preferred the old classic red booths but took a walk around the new Ray Vega patio and it's stunning! Still recommend this for place after 30+ years of coming here!

This was my first time here in almost 25 years and I'll def be back. The tableside guacamole is a must, and the spinach enchiladas were delish. I'm normally more of a carnivore, but the veg was calling to me that day and did not disappoint, haha. The spicy marg was too sweet and not all that spicy, IMO. I wouldn't get that again. Service was ok, but it was surprisingly crowded for 4pm on a Sun. I think they're just always busy. Love the dim lighting, and they had festive holiday decorations up. Valet was very reasonable, I think $10. I bought a hoodie and wear it almost daily!

I went back to Casa Vega with my very sexy and handsome husband for Halloween date nite and they surely did not disappoint by any means. I went dressed as a sexy Viking to match my masculine and irresistibly sexy husband and it turned into a passionate date night at Casa Vega, all firelight, tequilas, and temptation. We went full sexy Viking for date night and my husband's energy matched the vibe and Casa Vega was pure fire to match the mood of the night. Of course the food was irresistible too with the electric Cadillac drinks and their notoriously famous freshly made table side guacamole. The topper was their chicken mole dish that came with their tender chicken simmered to perfection, bathed in a rich, velvety mole sauce, dark chocolate, & roasted chilies that melted together into something deep, smoky, and a little bit seductive. Every bite was sweet, savory, and just spicy enough to linger like the perfect kiss after too much tequila that we had. The night was perfectly divine getting to spend it with my one and only smoking hot Viking husband on Halloween at Casa Vega.

Casa Vega absolutely blew us away. This place is a true LA classic, and now with their newly opened patio, the experience is even better. The vibe is vibrant, lively, and perfect for enjoying a great meal in that beautiful LA weather. We ordered the molcajete and WOW... easily one of the best we've had. Served sizzling hot, packed with flavor, and cooked to perfection, every bite hit. You can tell this kitchen knows exactly what they're doing. Huge shoutout to Joe, his recommendations were completely on point and elevated the whole experience. And the margarita he suggested? Out of this world. Smooth, refreshing, and one of the best we've had in LA. Between the amazing food, top tier service, and now that patio setup, this spot just leveled up even more. Add this hidden gem to your bucket list.

Good happy hour drinks with delicious and freshly prepared chips. The table side Caesar salad preparation is a fun show and done with great care. The tacos are solid.

My first visit to Casa Vega was faaaannntastic! What an epic and iconic Los Angeles institution. We sat in the Cliff & Rick booth from the Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Drinks were delicious and perfectly balanced. I couldn't resist a happy hour Mexican pizza! We also ordered the Molcajete (not pictured) which was phenomenal as well. Excellent service, classic ambiance. I'll certainly be back!

Came here to have dinner. They were doing a soft open for the patio area. I will say this patio area is very nice. It has a great vibe. That is the only thing nice I have to say about this place. The service really sucks. The waiter never really checked on us and if we asked for water or something. Got a crappy face look from the staff. They look so miserable. I witnessed a lovely older couple who the lady ordered a taco. There was a bug in her food and when they brought a new one out, it was completely wrong. They brought her beef when she originally had chicken. I felt bad because she did not even eat, and they still didn't even offered to pay for the husband's dish or take care of the food. Then another table next to me, they brought the burrito and the other lady ordered a salad and never brought the other ladies dish. I would never come back. What a shame, such great atmosphere to just be followed with a terrible service. I ordered a Molcajete, which was good, but not for the crappy service.

Where do I start , the service was horrible ... took the server 15 minutes to say hi to us and order drinks then food took over 40 mins when we got the food it was cold but we were starving and didn't want to wait another 40 mins! The best thing they served was the chips and salsa . The beans were cold the tortillas on my Crab and Shrimp enchiladas were cold . My boyfriend's order was wrong too he ordered a cheese enchilada not chicken it was super salty he didn't even touch the relleno one bite and it was stiff solid . Extremely disappointed! Our table was pitch black too no candle nothing the lighting is pretty bad . It use to be the hot spot back in the day but clearly a lot has changed don't believe the hype unless you just want to post for social media that you were there. Was not worth 80 bucks for 2 dishes and 2 sodas! I should have talked to a manger but we were so over it .

Walked in yesterday around 3:20pm and barely got a hello from Earnie, actually it was an Ola, automatically assuming that all of their customers are hispanic. I don't even want to talk about his wife. Don't know her name and don't really care. She was very unpleasant, unprofessional, rude, mean, and disrespectful. I even told her. I got me a Carne Asada Burrito with shredded beef, onions, beans, tomato sauce, & cilantro. I also got their Horchata that tasted so bad. It was basically water, with a pinch of cinnamon in it. Food overall tasted less than mediocre. Horchata was $4.50, and add Guac. $2.50. Guac tasted bland and was missing the main ingredients in it. Like garlic, lemon juice, and other spices.. Chips was small, but decent. Had to ask for that too.Didn't come with the meal. Ambiance was dull, and boring. There were probably 4 people in there including myself.
