The Achiote Chicken Taco and Spicy Garlic Shrimp Tacos (if you like spicy) are delicious!! I got both with flour tortillas (which was recommended) and so glad I did. They are made in house and absolutely TASTY. The tacos are very flavorful and don't have too much sauce on it that it becomes overwhelming. They have 2 salsas to the right of the register, 1 is red and 1 is a dark ish green?? Unsure, but both great additions to the tacos. The ONLY downfall about this place is the parking. We came at 11:45am on Saturday and we will never do that again; it took 20 min to find parking, I almost gave up! But I don't fault Loqui for that, I just wish it was more accessible during prime hours. Will definitely be back at an off hour! read more

Okay so here's the thing, this is a good spot for a quick bite with solid wholesome ingredients however price point and flavor make this not so worth it. I ordered tacos, 1 Birria, 1 Spicy garlic Shrimp, 1 Anaheim chile (all on corn tortillas) Each taco was around $7 and sized a little bit bigger than a street taco. Now flavor wise the birria was disappointingly dry and lacked true birria flavor. The shrimp itself was tasty but everything in the taco was dry and had way too much cabbage with no sauce. However the shining light was the Anaheim taco! It was flavorful, the guac was fresh and the beans were tasty! Service was great and she did help me choose my food and explained the ingredients well. Overall I would rate it 6/10. Interior is cute and they do offer ample outdoor seating. There's parking available on the street or nearby lot. No public bathrooms. read more

Found out about this place through a yelp event and was impressed, brought my partner, and we've been coming back regularly ever since. Located in the lot with Sephora, Trader Joes, etc. in a kind of hectic spot on Ventura Blvd. There's never a lot of people here. Staff is really nice, there's a small, quieter indoor seating area and larger outside area. Random music playlists each visit lol. Onto the tacos: the best one that I always get is their birria taco. The chicken, mushroom, etc. are good too, but this one is the star. Each taco is HUGE! Was pleasantly surprised and very full with two; every once in a while I'll even drop by for just one because they are that good. It's the melted cheese + nopal that lines the inside of that taco... it makes every bite so good! Another bonus: this is the only place I've seen with this spicy, black hot sauce I've only seen in Mexico, so legit, such a great surprise. Food is good, tasty, and fresh. Their red salsa is delicious, I add it to everything. Their black salsa is good but I prefer that one with the spicy shrimp plate. Which is what sold me on this place. I always get a bowl, spicy shrimp, or birria, or achiote chicken, with flour tortillas on the side. All have been perfect. I'm not an avocado person but I always eat their guac here. Finally, after several months of driving past this place, I got to try it with my son last night. This specific unit in the shopping plaza has been home to many different restaurants over the years. There used to be a Which Which sandwich shop several years ago, then it was a Nashville Hot Chicken spot and I think 2 other restaurants in between those two. We were excited to see what this place has to offer, especially with all the great reviews. Once you walk up to the entrance, you can see several tables and chairs outside, along with an additional shaded seating area that has some large picnic-style communal tables and benches. There's some nice greenery surrounding you as well that makes you (momentarily) forget about the hustle and bustle of Ventura Blvd., which is just a couple of steps away. We walked in and were greeted by Marvin who was very helpful, informative and knowledgeable about his job and the menu. He helped guide us to choosing our entrees and we both decided on the Half Chicken/Half Shrimp Bowls. The only difference was that my son asked for lettuce instead of beans, and I actually asked for a little side of lettuce as well. I always love to have some sort of salad with my meal! Oh, he also got corn tortillas and I got flour. As far as drinks go, I just opted for the Jamaica Agua Fresca, which was my first time trying something like this. It was so refreshing, tasty, and most importantly NOT TOO SWEET! The decor and artwork of the place definitely showcases Latin culture and history. We also asked Marvin what "Loqui" meant and he said it was a Latin word that meant "to say", or "to speak" and that they were speaking through their food, atmosphere, and service. Nice! The food arrived barely a few minutes after we sat down. Very fresh and presented nicely. It was absolutely DELICIOUS and we both devoured our plates and didn't leave a single crumb behind. The chicken was very flavorful, tender and perfectly cooked - as was the shrimp! The shrimp was just slightly spicy but they mention that on the menu. Marvin was actually nice enough to let me try a piece before ordering so I could decide if it was too spicy for me. The lettuce, beans, guacamole, pickled onions, rice - everything was perfect. Even the portion size is appropriate in my opinion, however it is a tad bit pricey. The only downside to our experience was the music, and even then it was not something that was bad enough to dock off a star or complain. There is only one speaker in the patio and we unknowingly sat under it. By the time it started bothering us, we were already deep into our meals and didn't feel like moving. I also don't know exactly what genre they were playing, but truthfully it wasn't too enjoyable and it was simply too loud. All in all it was a great experience and we will definitely be back to try more items. I love how flexible they are with customizations/substitutions and you can just adapt the menu to your liking. Today I got the mushroom taco and a chicken taco, both had lots of great toppings! The guacamole also was extremely good and the perfect addition to any meal! I so wanted to love this place because of all the great reviews. It was highly recommended to me by a friend too who comes here all the time. I don't know if I just came here on an off day but it was not great. I tried the chicken taco and it still had tendon and fat in so many pieces that I could not finish it. The mushroom taco was better but too much spice and not much flavor. The beef taco might have been the best one. I was not impressed with any of their salsas and the agua fresca was just not fresh. The freshest thing may have been the guacamole. That was very good, extra star for the guac but one deducted for the stale chips. The person that took our order was nice but not knowledgeable about the menu or the food. The restaurant was empty and there was one guy at the cashier. He was kind and patient as my boyfriend and I looked at the menu. We opted for a side of chips and guac to share, I ordered one Achiote Chicken taco with corn tortilla and my boyfriend ordered an Achiote Chicken taco and Beef Birria taco both flour tortilla. The tacos are larger then typical street style tacos and I like that there was an option between corn tortilla or flour tortilla. The corn tortilla option is cheaper than flour. Chips and Guac $7.50: Basic, was just a handful of chips and a dollop of guac. Nothing special about the chips, I've had better homemade chips. The guac lacked flavor and was too chunky. Achiote Chicken $7.49/$6.99: Flavorful but lacked the grilled char component. The chicken was juicy, smokey and had great spice to it. The pickled onions and cilantro added a fresh element to the taco. Didn't taste much of the salsa. A squeeze of lime would've elevated the flavor further. My boyfriend and I agreed that it would have been nice if they chopped up the chicken. It was huge pieces! Beef Birria $7.69/$7.19: Nowhere near a beef birria taco. Disappointing! My boyfriend didn't even finish it. "Cripsy cheese" was not crispy at all. Birria was dry and didn't taste like birria meat at all. Where is the spice and flavor?! Addition of beans was unnecessary. Overall I wouldn't eat here again. The food is overpriced. Loqui tries too hard to be hip and modern, they miss their marks on flavor. read more

We stopped in here for the first time the other day. Seems they just opened a month or so ago. Have to say, the flavors of the food were nothing short of fantastic! We ordered 3 different tacos on their signature flour tortillas (beef, chicken, shrimp) to test it all out and one of their hibiscus frescas. All the tacos had distinct flavors and were delicious. For those of you who aren't fans of spicy food or are sensitive to it, this may not be your place but I'm sure they could offer selections for the spice-adverse. I have tried Loqui twice now and I enjoyed both experience. We got the chips and salsa, chips and guac, chicken taco, and beef birria taco. Chips were so crunchy and fresh, salsa is also made so fresh, guac was amazing -- they give a good amount. We ran out of chips first than the salsa and guac (they are very generous with their portions). The chicken tacos had guac and picked onions in there. Chicken was very juicy and they did not skimp on the protein. Tacos are not the regular small size. They are a good size. The birria taco had melted cheese inside, does not skimp on the beef as well, onions, cilantro with lime on top. Tacos are not the usual pricing - $6-7 but portions are also big. They have options of dlour or corn tortilla as well. Everytime we come here, they make it so fresh. Their menu is small but they perfected their food. I have not yet to try the bowls but I can't wait to go back to try it. The store gives very minimalistic vibe but very clean. Just like their food, minimalistic but perfect.
