Being stuck in the Valley a couple of days a week isn't easy. Don't get me wrong--Studio City and Valley Village are fine. Luckily for me, I've passed Studio Taco a few times and finally stopped by. The name fits--the studios are nearby, and this could be a real shoe-in. One of the owners was working the front and was amazing and generous with his time. I usually go for a bean burrito, no rice. I decided to try one of the meat options and was delighted. The flavors were nice, with great salsas. I asked the owner who was cooking, since there were other flavors not quite consistent with my 40-plus years of surfing and fishing in Mex--that makes sense. He said his chef, with whom he has had a long relationship, has ties to Acapulco and draws flavors from there. Fair enough, yet I still detected other flavors. The place has a great vibe and, a bit too clean and organized for my taco cravings, but I'll likely get used to it. I just wish they'd toss a few side chips with the order--solo dining means a side feels too large when watching the bod health! All in all, Studio Taco has given me a reason to be in the Valley a couple days a week for the foreseeable future: something to look forward to. Food that's health-conscious Mex! read more

A brand new spot. We need more hard shell tacos (and Birria) in this part of town. The hard shell chicken taco was tasty. The chicken is not shredded, but came in small pieces. The flavor was very good. Also good was the Carne Asada, soft taco. In addition, I ordered the Birria Taco Combo with rice & beans. It came with a small bowl of consume. The Birria meat in the taco was fine. The rice & beans were pretty standard and the consume was a bit thin and not as flavorful as I had hoped, but that's just me. There is no Birria in the consume, just small bits of fat. Next time in, I will try one of the burritos and tortas. There is no salsa bar, but they have a hot red salsa and a spicy green salsa, both are good. The service is friendly, the space is clean and the tables are comfortable. Overall, I enjoyed my visits. We've ordered from here twice and I'm really liking this place. I got the nachos with asada and what I like is that they put bit shredded and melted cheese on there. The flavors are good and everything blends well together. The chips have got texture and taste as well. I'm definitely looking for to trying the different menu items. Avoid this place, especially later at night. I ordered 6 tacos and the cilantro was clearly spoiled--dark, wilted, and not fresh. The meat was extremely overcooked, dry, and tasted like old leftovers from the end of the day. There was no flavor, just burnt, poor-quality food. We also paid $16 for the studio fries, which were a mess. Everything was thrown together with no care, and the parchment paper they used started breaking apart while eating. It was honestly hard to tell if I was eating food or bits of paper. What made it worse was the lack of accountability. I brought the issue up immediately, and the response was just a quick apology--no effort to fix it until we had to ask for a refund ourselves. That should never fall on the customer. On top of that, I didn't feel well afterward, which raises serious concerns about food quality and handling. This felt like careless service and low standards all around. Ordered 3 carne asada tacos(small decent size) and was glad to also get salsa and limes. Honestly yummy Yummy. Tacos are great tasting. Meat tastes fresh, their red salsa amazing. Finally, a Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood! It's one of my favorite cuisines to enjoy and now I get to enjoy it at the convenience of a 3 minute walk from home. I've been waiting for this place to open for a few months now when I learned about Pizza Guy's closure and got the chance to try it today with my son, a week after their grand opening. They just opened on December 2nd. The place is very welcoming and brightly lit, not to mention the good energy beaming from Stella and Aren behind the counter and the chefs in the back working hard to provide us with some delicious food. Speaking of food, everything was truly fantastic. I got a 3-taco combo plate (2 asada, 1 chicken) and it came with rice/beans, some radish slices and a lime wedge. I was so hungry today since I hadn't eaten anything substantial, so I ended up ordering a carne asada burrito after I finished my tacos. It came with rice, beans, cheese, pico de gallo, onions, and cilantro. The meats were all succulent and tender, tortillas were properly grilled and everything was seasoned appropriately. The food was so filling, yet light - not greasy, nor salty! The side of guac ($6) was a substantial portion for a side order and Stella was kind enough to throw in some chips on the house. The tortillas were also very fresh and not salty, just how I like them. There are 2 salsas that come with the meal, both of which were very flavorful and delicious. The red was spicier and smokier than the green, which was more vibrant and acidic. The place was spotless clean and they have a bathroom for customers, although I didn't need to use it this time around. There is ample parking in the plaza along with 6 tables for indoor seating. It was pretty busy this evening, along with to-go orders going out. I'm so happy to see such a great spot doing so well in its first week of business! I am blown away! I came to this spot on their first day of opening so I figured they may have some kinks to work out and I couldn't have been more wrong! As a taco lover who has lived in LA for over 27 years I know my tacos and these were GREAT! One of the owners also wanted me to try their in house made sauces. The 3 I tried (red, chili oil, & chipotle) were all so good! The chipotle one has me feeling like soon they will be serving breakfast burritos because it would pair so perfectly! Super nice people, and a clean fresh space. They were quick, and everything was presented nicely. We were a bit disappointed with the food though. Everything was a lot greasier than I think it needed to be. The carne asada was pretty tasty, but the birria was dry and lacked flavor. Even the consome was kind of flavorless and greasy. The al pastor was very non-traditional and had a ground consistency. It felt more like chorizo than al pastor. Their salsas were definitely good, and the chips and guac were good if a bit overpriced. I can't quite get over the al pastor being so different. I liked the flavor initially but none of us ended up finishing it. The odd consistency and flavor combined with everything being very greasy did us all in early. read more

This is my 3rd time trying this place and it's seriously the best in the valley. Everything is fresh and clean-- the horchata has to be homemade, you can tell it's not some watered down pre mix! I get the birria burrito it's always loaded up with meat--it's worth the extra charge. The meat is juicy and melt in your mouth tender. They go easy on the beans which I appreciate, I hate when taco stands overfill burritos with beans as a way to put less meat.
