We ordered 1 carne asada burrito (comes with beans, rice, cheese and pico de gallo) and a 3 taco plate with 2 asada, 1 chicken (comes with beans and rice). They have 2 types of salsa. One is mild and is a tomatillo (green) salsa and one is hit (orange habanero). They also have cups of chipotle Mayo and a cilantro lime crema. Food prepared fresh - took about 7 mins. Was good. Tacos come topped with cilantro and onion. Burrito comes cut in half, wrapped in foil. Asada was a little salty for my liking but cooked well. They have bottles of topo chico in addition to sodas. They are similarly priced to a taco truck but have a nice, clean brick and mortar with a good amount of seating. The flavor was very good. Also good was the Carne Asada, soft taco. In addition, I ordered the Birria Taco Combo with rice & beans. It came with a small bowl of consume. The Birria meat in the taco was fine. The rice & beans were pretty standard and the consume was a bit thin and not as flavorful as I had hoped, but that's just me. There is no Birria in the consume, just small bits of fat. Next time in, I will try one of the burritos and tortas. There is no salsa bar, but they have a hot red salsa and a spicy green salsa, both are good. The service is friendly, the space is clean and the tables are comfortable. Overall, I enjoyed my visits. Finally, a Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood! It's one of my favorite cuisines to enjoy and now I get to enjoy it at the convenience of a 3 minute walk from home. I've been waiting for this place to open for a few months now when I learned about Pizza Guy's closure and got the chance to try it today with my son, a week after their grand opening. They just opened on December 2nd. The place is very welcoming and brightly lit, not to mention the good energy beaming from Stella and Aren behind the counter and the chefs in the back working hard to provide us with some delicious food. Speaking of food, everything was truly fantastic. I got a 3-taco combo plate (2 asada, 1 chicken) and it came with rice/beans, some radish slices and a lime wedge. I was so hungry today since I hadn't eaten anything substantial, so I ended up ordering a carne asada burrito after I finished my tacos. It came with rice, beans, cheese, pico de gallo, onions, and cilantro. The meats were all succulent and tender, tortillas were properly grilled and everything was seasoned appropriately. The food was so filling, yet light - not greasy, nor salty! The side of guac ($6) was a substantial portion for a side order and Stella was kind enough to throw in some chips on the house. The tortillas were also very fresh and not salty, just how I like them. There are 2 salsas that come with the meal, both of which were very flavorful and delicious. The red was spicier and smokier than the green, which was more vibrant and acidic. The place was spotless clean and they have a bathroom for customers, although I didn't need to use it this time around. There is ample parking in the plaza along with 6 tables for indoor seating. It was pretty busy this evening, along with to-go orders going out. I'm so happy to see such a great spot doing so well in its first week of business! And then I woke up two hours later puking, and those tacos permeated my senses and filled the bathroom with stench, and then my butt exploded. We've ordered from here twice and I'm really liking this place. I got the nachos with asada and what I like is that they put bit shredded and melted cheese on there. Don't make the same mistake I made up until now thinking that Studio Tacos is a bland, brick and mortar Mexican spot to pop up in the south valley. It's anything but! Flavors, freshness, quality are all there and is a welcome addition to an area with far too few options for no-fuss, delicious Mexican food. Al pastor is my favorite so far but I'm sure as I eat my way through the entire menu soon that I'll learn you can't go wrong with ordering anything here. Excellent salsa options, too. Everything was a lot greasier than I think it needed to be. The carne asada was pretty tasty, but the birria was dry and lacked flavor. Even the consome was kind of flavorless and greasy. The al pastor was very non-traditional and had a ground consistency. It felt more like chorizo than al pastor. Their salsas were definitely good, and the chips and guac were good if a bit overpriced. I can't quite get over the al pastor being so different. I liked the flavor initially but none of us ended up finishing it. Sooooo good!!! I was excited to see a new taco place open up on the mean streets of Valley Village. So, I stopped by to try it out before introducing it to the family. I started off with a hard taco, soft taco, and birria. I asked the staff to surprise me and pick the meats for me. All were fantastic; especially the birria taco. Being stuck in the Valley a couple of days a week isn't easy. Don't get me wrong--Studio City and Valley Village are fine. Luckily for me, I've passed Studio Taco a few times and finally stopped by. The name fits--the studios are nearby, and this could be a real shoe-in. One of the owners was working the front and was amazing and generous with his time. I usually go for a bean burrito, no rice. I decided to try one of the meat options and was delighted. The flavors were nice, with great salsas. I asked the owner who was cooking, since there were other flavors not quite consistent with my 40-plus years of surfing and fishing in Mex--that makes sense. He said his chef, with whom he has had a long relationship, has ties to Acapulco and draws flavors from there. Fair enough, yet I still detected other flavors. The place has a great vibe and, a bit too clean and organized for my taco cravings, but I'll likely get used to it. I just wish they'd toss a few side chips with the order--solo dining means a side feels too large when watching the bod health!
