The food, service and ambiance were great. Haven't been here for a while and it did not disappoint. The prices are budget friendly, the food is fabulous. Parking lot gets packed quickly but they do offer valet with a service charge. They have happy hour drinks for great price and a few small bites to eat.

The happy hour was awesome! The food was great, the atmosphere was a bit outdated. Will definitely return, maybe add more TV's and remove the glass holder around the bar! You can't see anything!

Food was delicious and the drinks were really good too. The service was amazing. Everyone was friendly and checked on us often. The ambience is nice and comfortable, great for a casual meal or a night out. Portions were solid and everything came out fresh and hot. Overall, a great experience.

One of the best taco spots in the valley. Come watch your sports games and get your best margaritas. On Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday or any other day poppin, off fajitas quesadillas. Sopes and nachos highly recommended.

This location is smaller than Woodland Hills and Northridge . But in a good neighborhood . Close to the city and has a great staff with ambiance and great service . The enchiladas are delicious .

I decided to try mexican food this weekend. El torito use to be my fav in the Av but they slipped so i was really shocked that this Sherman oaks spot was on point. As soon as we walked in they greeted us immediately, the host and a hispanic male which i believe he was a manager. We sat in the bar area, the ambiance was nice and i enjoyed the music. When we got our food it was quick thanks to Adriana being so quick and friendly. The food was ok a lil dry but i love the happy hour on a weekend so ill be back!!!

We had such a great experience at El Torito. Our server, Marlon, was amazing--so funny, personable, and attentive. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and exactly what we were craving. The staff even welcomed our pup with fresh water, which made the visit extra special. The restaurant itself was very clean with great vibes. A manager, Joseph, stopped by to check on us and made us feel genuinely welcome. That personal touch stood out. Parking is limited--there are only a few free spots and none were open, so we opted for the $8 valet. It was worth it to not worry about finding a space. Overall, highly recommend this location. We always have a wonderful time at El Torito and will definitely be back.

I come here often. As soon as the bartender sees me he pours me a glass of wine. It's waiting for me to be seated. The bartenders are so attentive. I actually started coming here recently. I felt the food would be Americanized so avoided the restaurant. To my surprise it wasn't. I was I the mood for Asada Fajitas. They were so delicious! I ordinarily order the Carnitas which are excellent as well. The prices are reasonable as well. I'll be back.

Randomly ended up coming here Saturday night for dinner. Great service, nice spacious restaurant. Food was super delicious many compliments to the chef. Even the rice and beans had so much flavor. The bar area also has karaoke going on which looked fun. Great spot for families and dinner and drinks

Alright, hear me out...you don't go here for an AMAZING meal. Or for great service (it's always too busy for the amount of servers)...you go for margs or taco Tuesday. I don't make the rules. Normally when I come here it's to watch a game, have lots of apps and have some drinks. In that way it's a good ol' faithful. There is a parking lot attached.

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday for a quick drink before a movie, and the "vibe" was non-existent. They have four TVs at the bar, but the setup was bizarre, two were completely off and another was just frozen on a directory logo. The biggest issue, however, is the cleanliness--or lack thereof. The place is incredibly dirty. It feels like it hasn't had a deep clean in weeks, maybe longer. The bar top was disgusting, the floors were grimy, and even the woodwork looked like it hadn't seen a rag since opening day. They are charging $17 for "signature cocktails," which is bold for a spot that feels like a neglected dive bar. If you're going to charge premium prices, you have to at least wipe down the countertops. Service-wise, the bartender was friendly enough but low energy and minimal level of service. To make matters worse, a shift change happened while we were there, and the departing bartender made us close out our check and start a brand-new one with the next person. Why should the staff's administrative hand-off be the customer's issue? It's just unprofessional. The Valley has so many actual dive bars with character and plenty of high-end spots for a great cocktail; I'm not sure where this place is trying to fit in. It feels like someone bought it and just stopped caring. We won't be back.

Yes, I'm well aware of location, ingredients, operating costs, etc...but damn. Getting 2 cocktails felt really indulgent. The interior/ambience is lovely - really appreciate what they did to the place. First had the guacamole maragrita - i love avocado and appreciate a less sweet spin on cocktails. It was really good, I like the play of pureed avocado and citrus notes. Next I had the creamsicle maragrita - I love the combination of orange and vanilla so it sounded intriguing. It was...a bit odd. There was.a smoky mezcal flavor that overwhelmed the drink making it hard to detect that orange/Vanilla flavor. And there was supposed to be mezcal in it. However, I did appreciate the server coming by to pour the Cocktail into a more chilled glass, mine got warmed up while drinking. Docking a star because the food seems like kind of an afterthought for the price. These days I usually need food with my cocktails. Wasn't very hungry so I went with one of the cheaper snackier options - chips and salsa. It was serviceable. My friend got the guacamole with tuna, and said the guacamole was too basic. Would come back for the drinks for sure. Wish they had a daytime happy hour with at least daytime happy hour food pricing.

It's a small place and the decor didn't really feel like it matched the vibe, and the karaoke set-up was not very good. It was really hard to hear the backing music, even when you were the one singing, but this isn't the type of place that you come to "perform" for karaoke like a lot of other places in LA. It's very casual and low-pressure. Song choices were all over the place (which isn't necessarily a good or bad thing). Late night happy hour menu was decent and they offered it from 9pm on that night, and the place did get packed to standing room only. I had a hard time finding info on what their happy hour was before we went, so I took a picture to share. This was on 2/6/2026. The bartender, Brian, was very friendly, but I realized when looking at the emailed receipt afterwards that he switched one of my sibling's drinks on my tab, and I'm assuming mine got put on theirs. We have the same last name, so I understand the mix-up, but it would have been nice if he just asked about who was who instead of assuming, and it also would have been nice to see an itemized receipt before paying instead of just seeing the dollar amount we owed. Not a huge deal this time, just something that I hope they will keep in mind in the future. For food, my partner was able to get a pizza from a place across the street and bring it back into the bar, and Brian was kind enough to offer extra napkins. For other people with back problems, be aware that their bar stools do have back rests on them, but no cushions. We had a good time, and this bar seems to host special events regularly, which we may go back for eventually if the right one comes up, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back here.

Sherman Oaks is gritty and the section of Ventura Boulevard that houses TLP is almost brutalist in its anti-establishment aesthetic. You would never know it was here if you didn't either live in the neighborhood or seek it out as I did. It is sandwiched between a completely non-descript place that I didn't even look at and a crystals shop with grafitti-etched windows (unfortunately!) but some really cool beads. Inside is the same -- no frills, a dress-down and survive-if-you-dare vibe. My pictures will illustrate what I mean. Nevertheless, the friendly service (shout out to our server, Patrick), the menu, and the quality of the food are well worth it. Again, see what we ordered in the photos attached. Everything was delicious. The floor, tables, and chairs were all clean. There is some kind of post-apocalypse rhumba going on with the ceiling treatment. It is almost reverse-logic art with all the shading (stains? velour movement?) and utilitarian installation it reveals. Love the walls though, and the worn distressed wood everywhere (see the pix, folks). A bonus was watching the Masters (Patrick let us linger) and sitting by a giant window that was open to the street. Parking is up a block or so on either side. We always find safe spots in Sherman Oaks. The music seemed to be one CD of an unknown (to me) vocal artist and was pleasant. The crowd was friendly and the whole atmosphere was like one big homey grunge party. You know those mornings you fall out of bed and almost don't want to change out of your pajamas or yoga threds? This is the place to go. I loved it. (NOTE: You may have to refresh this page twice to see my pictures, for some reason. grrrrrr)

One such adventure took me to The Oaks Tavern, a fun dive bar up in Sherman Oaks with the worst parking situation ever (but unfortunately for all you looking for a way out - still worth going). More specifically, it took me here for a trivia night - Charlie's Trivia Night, Wednesdays from 7:30p - 9:30p. They have a few of them, but I came here for this one. The drinks were dive worthy, and the pizza was, too. It's a fucking dive bar. ENJOY IT. If you want a fancy cocktail go to the arts district you asshole. Personally the combo pizza helped silence my growling stomach, because the brain power I have to use to get half the answers correct is cause for a bite or 20. It's all nostalgic. I liked the dark vampy vibe of the place. We got drinks and pizza, and even got to do karaoke. Having the complimentary popcorn was an extra nice touch.

How awesome! It does get a bit rowdy (in a not awful way!) during game time and it's definitely a vibe. As noted below, we knew they were busy and expected delays, but other servers were moving and ours wasn't. I will give them another shot and so should you. If you go there on a busy day and don't get served in a timely fashion, go and tell them. You shouldn't have to, but sometimes you must. Thank you Jason. Our server completely ignored us and instead asked multiple other tables how they were doing. Only came by once an hour and then it was due to me asking another server to help. Will not be coming back, service was lousy and you got the tip you deserved. Oh, and it wasn't so much about them being busy as many other servers were hustling and making sure customers were ok. It just happens that our server was useless. There is no excuse.
