A Completely Disappointing Experience from Start to Finish I can't say a single good thing about this place. If I hadn't already asked my cousin's family to meet us here for an early dinner, we never would have stayed. Arrival & Service: Ignored at the Door: We walked in at 3:00 PM to a completely empty restaurant and still had to wait 10 minutes just to be acknowledged. We didn't even get an apology for the wait. Awkward Seating: Despite having the entire empty dining room to choose from, they sat our party of eight smack-dab in the middle of the floor. Zero Attentiveness: Even though it was completely dead, the staff never checked on us for water refills, extra chips, or anything else. Safety Hazards & Ignored Spills: The Floor Was a Mess: My son accidentally spilled his ice water all over the table and floor. A server brought us a single napkin and never returned to actually mop up the puddle. The Waitress Spilled on Us: When the food finally arrived, our waitress knocked my cousin's water directly onto him. She didn't apologize at all, handed over one dingy towel and some paper, and--once again--left the floor completely wet. Disgusting Bathrooms: My wife took our daughters to the women's restroom and said it was filthy. My cousin joked about the men's room floor being wet, but it was no joke. The floor was covered in water and dangerously slippery like ice (even while wearing Jordans). How does a restaurant let their bathrooms get this bad? The Food Underwhelming: The food was incredibly mediocre. The fajitas were supposed to be "sizzling," but they arrived dry and lifeless. Experiences like this are exactly why we rarely eat out. Sneaky Billing Practices Hidden Gratuity: When the bill arrived, I was getting ready to leave a cash tip. Thankfully, my wife checked the itemized receipt and noticed they had already tacked on an automatic tip of about $30! I almost double-tipped them. Random Fees: They also added an unexplained $7 fee that we couldn't figure out. Bottom Line: This place is an awful Mexican restaurant. By all means, go check it out for yourself if you don't believe me, but consider yourself warned. We will definitely never be returning! read more

Maria was fantastic during lunch today. She was very attentive and she made sure everything came out quickly. She has such a friendly attitude and made the whole experience feel welcoming and easy. Any time I needed something, she was right there and I can tell she really cares about giving great service. The fajitas were excellent and came out hot and sizzling, with great flavor and generous portions. They were cooked perfectly and made for a really satisfying lunch. Between the delicious fajitas and Maria's friendly, helpful service, it made this a really enjoyable midday meal. I think I preferred the crab over the shrimp, but I wanted to taste those an interesting thing that was his recommendation. My waitress's name was ELVIA I felt guilty. This one star is specifically connected to the quality of food. The combo fajitas were flavorless dry and not good, the combo plate the same. Most interesting is they waterdowned (non-alcoholic) passion fruit and raspberry ice teas. We have dined here on many occasions and the difference in the ice teas and food quality was astounding. The service was really good and I feel bad for servers considering people will stop dining here. At the end of the day we left this dining experience sad, a place we once enjoyed is now a place we will never come back. read more

I come here often. As soon as the bartender sees me he pours me a glass of wine. It's waiting for me to be seated. The bartenders are so attentive. I actually started coming here recently. I felt the food would be Americanized so avoided the restaurant. To my surprise it wasn't. I was I the mood for Asada Fajitas. They were so delicious! I decided to try mexican food this weekend. El torito use to be my fav in the Av but they slipped so i was really shocked that this Sherman oaks spot was on point. As soon as we walked in they greeted us immediately, the host and a hispanic male which i believe he was a manager. We sat in the bar area, the ambiance was nice and i enjoyed the music. asked the waitress what the Easy Afternoon cocktail is. She said it had vodka. Found out it had Buffalo Trace bourbon. I said that was great! Received the drink from the bar. Couldn't tell there was bourbon in there. Did find the solid frozen peaches. When she came by and asked if everything was all right, I told her no, that I couldn't tell there was any bourbon in this drink. She checked with the bartender. She said he could add bourbon. I said that's great. She brought a shot glass of bourbon: fine! Didn't tell me there would be additional fee for it. We had such a great experience at El Torito. Our server, Marlon, was amazing--so funny, personable, and attentive. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and exactly what we were craving. The staff even welcomed our pup with fresh water, which made the visit extra special. The restaurant itself was very clean with great vibes. A manager, Joseph, stopped by to check on us and made us feel genuinely welcome. That personal touch stood out. Parking is limited--there are only a few free spots and none were open, so we opted for the $8 valet. It was worth it to not worry about finding a space. Overall, highly recommend this location. We recently visited El Torito in Sherman Oaks for the lunch menu and experienced an unacceptable dining experience and felt compelled to share our disappointing interaction. Our waitress, Elvia B, provided subpar service that fell short of expectations. A simple request for extra dressing was met with an unimpressed attitude, and the dressing was delivered spilled all over the container. Elvia's demeanor was unfriendly, and at times, she appeared annoyed by our simple requests, making us feel unwelcome. The poor service overshadowed any enjoyment of the meal. We were particularly disappointed by Elvia B's behavior, as it seemed she was more focused on rushing us out than providing quality service. As a result, we will not be returning to El Torito in Sherman Oaks and would caution others about the subpar experience we received. Furthermore, we spoke with the manager Moises who acknowledged our concerns and attempted to rectify the situation. While he was apologetic and tried to make it right, we felt that he could have done more to address the issues. I've always loved El Torito. I've been to this one a few times. Might be my imagination but the signage has shrunk or is a darker color or something. There is a shared parking lot with other businesses and restaurants in the little area. They opened at 11, and we arrived at 11:30 and were seated right away. The staff was very accommodating. They have a great lunch menu from opening to 2 Monday through Friday. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. I can't say enough about their sweet corn cake. My favorite!! Ok, bye. read more
