Stopped in for a quick Tuesday night dinner with my wife. Not really busy, so we had our choice of tables, and were quickly approached by servers re drinks and such. Others did start to arrive during our meal, so the atmosphere livened up a bit as the energy increased. My wife made an "entree" out of 2 starters: Shrimp Scampi and Roasted Mushrooms. Both came piping hot, sizzling in skillets with a good bit of butter, garlic and white wine in each. The shrimp were medium sized, which made them very tender, and they really held onto the pleasingly powerful garlic butter they were bathed in. The same was true of the mushrooms, prepared almost the same, with perhaps a bit less garlic. These were fairly ordinary button mushrooms, cooked whole, but cooked so well that their lack of fanciness didn't matter at all. For myself, I ordered the Steak Milanesa Sandwich, served on their crispy Argentine bread with tomatoes and mayo, plus a liberal dressing of spicy chimichurri that I added myself. It was a good sandwich, but the beef was sliced a bit too thin, becoming tougher than usual during the frying process. It wasn't in any way bad, but I've had it better here at other times. The accompanying French Fries were hot, crisp, salty and just right. The portion (sandwich and fries) is very generous, and quite filling. After oh so many years, LaLa's remains a reliable neighborhood spot, serving good food with a smile -- and it's quite reasonably priced considering the economy and other, more expensive menus in the area. read more

First and Last time coming here! I have had better Argentinian food. Actually Pasadena has some good ones. I ordered a ribeye that I saw, it was 14 ounces. And I said medium. My steak came well done looking like a flat steak tasting blah and a lot of fat. I had never seen a thin looking ribeye in my life. And she said oh I brought you the 8 ounce, which we didn't even discussed. Nasty steak, poor quality meat. She did apologize but irrelevant when I had to eat that disgusting steak. Been there done that!! Oh and I went to wash my hands and the bathroom said a lot right from the start. There's a sink and next to the sink is a hole to the floor. Weird...... This Studio City location is off of Ventura Blvd. & Carpenter Ave. For parking there's valet unless you get lucky with street/metered parking. Service for us has always been good with attentive and friendly employees. We've had sandwiches, burgers, steak, etc. Wifey's go-to is the Pechuga De Polo (lemon-orange marinated chicken breast) while my go-to is the Costilla (8oz boneless ribeye steak). The food has been dependable as always. If you want to entertain guests/family/friends or have a nice date, Lala's Argentine Grill is a pretty good option. Came in for the dineLA week promo; specifically the lunch menu. They only validate parking on their lot or you can find metered parking spots on the boulevard. I made it in around noon so it wasn't packed. My waitress was pleasant and attentive. For starters, I had bread with chimichurri sauce and water. The chimichurri had a really good taste to it but the bread was not served warm. 3/5 I was craving a sangria so I ordered their red sangria. The drink was so refreshing and tasted delicious. Reminded me kind of like Hibiscus water but much better. 5/5 For my dineLA options: I chose the beef empanada 5/5 Delicious flavors of ground beef seasoned well and the empanada had a great texture to it with each bite. My favorite out of the entire course. For the main plate: (Food came out quick) I went with the "NY Champignon" a 6 ounce NY steak medium well done for me, (but over cooked) served with grilled zucchini and mash potatoes. The meat tasted low quality in my opinion, and the sauce was ok- nothing memorable. The sides were also not the best tasting; to me the zucchini was not fresh. The mash potatoes were plain nothing extreme that would make me want them again. I was disappointed in what was served today. Didn't even finish the veggies or mash potatoes. For my dessert: I went with the flan- the slice was thick and huge and they added a small side of caramel and whipped cream. The flan was not too sweet but also not outstanding. 3/5 I've been here before and I could swear my experience was way better than today. Instead of serving low quality on the dineLA weeks, you should try to impress the customer or make their experience worthwhile. That way they do come back eagerly to spend money at the restaurant. This was not the case for me. The expectations were low. The ambiance was not as expected, I was seated in the middle of two family parties which was not ideal for me. We had such a great dinner at Lala's in Studio City! The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and the service was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The mushroom appetizer was one of the best we've ever had--absolutely incredible. We're already trying to recreate it at home because it was that good! We came here for the first time this weekend and are sad we haven't been coming here longer! We came in around 6:30 and there was plenty of room with no line, we did valet which was $10. We were sat immediately out on the patio and once we were sat the whole restaurant started to fill up. Definitely recommend the patio! The food came extremely fast and everything was hot and delicious! We ordered the shrimp and mushroom appetizers and what's not to love about those covered in butter and garlic. We had an empanada, Argentinian chorizo, Marcella (blood sausage) as our starters. All were excellent in flavor. The empanada may be one of the best Argentinian empanadas ive ever had. The chorizo was excellent with a great char to it to highlight its flavor. We also received complementary bread and chimichuri sauce which was awesome. We had the NY champignon steaks which had a mushroom sauce, grilled zucchini and mashed potatoes. This had excellent flavor as well. Lastly for dessert we had the crepe and flan, both had whipped cream and dulce de Leche which was a perfect end to the meal. Price: 5/5 - DineLA price was an extreme value at $25 per person for a prefixes menu. We added drinks as well as the morcilla sausage. The regular menu prices were also very reasonable. Id definitely like to try it post DineLA. Service: 5/5 - excellent service overall. I made reservations, and we were seated right away. Server was helpful, kept our water and drinks full without hesitation. Friendly and not overbearing. She gave us time to enjoy food and the food came out promptly and hot. Couldn't ask for more. They had a 4 empanada special so we shared the spinach, chicken curry, beef and cheese & onion and while all great my favorite was the chicken curry. I'm also a big salad person, and the side salad was a great side to all the meat. They also had yummy rice, French fries, mashed potatoes, and more. Salad was my favorite side though. My absolute favorite steak place in the valley! The price is great for the quality and the staff is always extremely attentive and kind. My go-to is the Lomo Lala, filet mignon and mushrooms covered in the most incredible red wine white sauce. I know they have the chimichurri bottled, but if I could take home a jar of that sauce I 1000% would. The costilla is also incredible and if you want a larger size they have the costilla grande. Some items does look different but all our usual was still On it. As it was brunch, they offered bottomless mimosas till 3pm. We sure took advantage of it. Their fresh bread and chimichurri sauce thats alway brought out to start is always so good. Honestly that alone is a nice meal...lol... We started off with their provelata, nice hot melted cheese in a skillet with pick de gallo. That with the bread, match made in heaven. It's a must with every meal. Entrees, the shrimp penne pasta with a choice of different sauce. I went with the cream sauce. Wore white so had to be careful. The sauce was great and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. Also pasta was perfect. And the al Champignon, chicken breast topped with sautéed mushrooms in a light red wine cream sauce. That was served with two sides. Went with the mashed potatoes and their rice. The food has always been amazing. The flavors are always on point. Everything's alway cooked perfectly. Some of our favorites, the empanadas. Any of them will not disappoint. Plus the sautéed mushrooms, that's also a must for a starter. Then you have the platter of meat perfect for sharing. If you like meat, give it a try. Had fries and a salad which I could not finish. salad dressing was not a fave - Flan: more dense than would have liked. Dulce de leche was suuupe sweet. For the empanadas, I recommend. The cheese/onion (fried) was good but could have had more onion IMHO. The beef peccadillo was tasty, and the chicken was even better. (Baked). One of them came slightly underbaked. I had the lomito sandwich, and it was a tad disappointing. I liked the press on the bread for some crispiness, but the steak was chewy, and under-seasoned. It has a good charred flavor though. The chimichurri they do is really good, not acidic, lots of flavor. Could use a tad of spice for my taste. I want to make sure right from the beginning, those 2 stars are for the wonderful and kind waitress we had. She did her very best to make things right. Nevertheless. We haven't been to Lala's for quite some time and looked forward to going there for dinner. We thought the place was open until 11:00, but it turned out they closed at 10:00 on Sunday. But when I called for a reservation and asked for a table for 2 at 9:30, nothing was said that the place was closing at 10:00. Only the second time we called, because we thought we might run late, we were told that the kitchen would close at 9:30! And they close at 10:00. But we made sure we can still come at 9:30 and will get our food. That already made me quite uncomfortable, having to rush and knowing the kitchen staff is ready to clean up the kitchen for the night, and us showing up at that time. I also worked in the restaurant business and know how it is. Anyway, when we got there, 2 other tables were occupied. One table with 2 persons, the other one with one guest. The waitress was very nice indeed, and we made sure to ask her if it was not too late for us to eat here. My spouse ordered a Beyond burger with fries, and I ordered a 12 oz NY steak with fries, medium. We got our drinks, and after a while, our food was brought to the table. It looked quite good. My spouse was quite happy with his meal. The fries were fantastic. But when I cut into my steak, I knew it was well beyond medium. First, I thought, maybe it is just the edges. But it was quite tough to even cut it. But I was hungry, I knew they were ready to close, and it wasn't uneatable. After 2 or 3 bites ( my spouse already noticed and said I should send it back), the waitress came by and asked how everything was. That is when I told her politely what the problem is and she totally agreed with me. She came back with a plate, took my steak, and said she would bring a new one as soon as possible. I had no issue with that. When she came back, that steak looked even larger than the one I had before. Nice. The first cut, I could tell it was perfectly done. But after a few cuts,s I noticed that 1/3 of the steak around it was mostly inedible gristle. Hard and chewy. That was a major downer. But I certainly wasn't going to make a fuss and have it sent back at that time any longer. I can understand mistakes happen. But twice in a row with the same dish with the same customer? No! It was just very disappointing having these kinds of steaks served at Lala's. No matter how late it is. This is unacceptable. It certainly isn't what I remember how Lala's used to be. But as I said in the beginning, the waitress was wonderful. It certainly is not her fault to be responsible for the so-called " chefs" in that kitchen. To send out food like this to guests is offensive and certainly gives Lala's not a good light. read more

We ordered 2 lomo Lala's (filet mignon with mushroom and wine sauce ) and the lomito (steak sandwich) Lomo Lala's comes with 3 good size pieces of filet mignon , with mashed potatoes. I substituted my potatoes with salad which was also delicious. Everything was so tasty, juicy, fresh and just amazing . Everything came as ordered, and quick . We also loved the wines we got . Met here with my parents from Santa Barbara and very glad I chose this spot! Food had some great flavor and plenty of options as well! Ended up getting the two plate platter with my dad that had some steak, chicken meat, chorizo pork sausage and more. All each were juicy and moist and the chimichurri is a great touch with lemon! Sides also packed some good flavor as well! Mashed potatoes and broccoli were great! Our server and host were very sweet and always asking questions if we needed anything at all. Also great banter and fun laughs! Place is very well kept and clean and truly a nice spot in the area for a quick bite of lunch and HAS ITS OWN PARKING! Parking is hard to find but good thing they have valet ($10) The restaurant has a very dim vibe and is perfect for dates. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were very friendly and prompt. They bring you bread and chimichurri when you sit down. Our waiter was also very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us good recommendations. We ordered 2 x entrana al ajo, a mousse chocolate cake and a flan. The entrana comes with two sides and all the portions are big. The mash potatoes was one of the best i have had in a while. The steak was delicious except it was a little too garlicky for me. The desserts were also very good. Overall we got two steaks (each with two sides) two desserts and two cokes for a total of $107.
