We had a delightful Wednesday evening here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is very cozy and somewhat formal inside like a French brassiere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The biggest highlight was the super attentive service despite the World Cup match broadcasting between Mexico and Czech Republic in which 3 goals were scored. The French soup was bold and rich in flavor. Everyone enjoyed their entrees which were well flavored and savory. The desserts were made in house and tasted amazing.

Mistral refers to a strong, cold northwesterly wind that blows through the Rhône River Valley from southern France into the Mediterranean mainly in winter. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a well worn, old school feel and look with wood paneling, glass chandeliers, touch of l'art deco.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice little bar that stocks extensive liquor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 0) Feuilleté au Fromage: Amuse Bouche of a small cheese puff pastry 1) Jumbo Lump Crab Cake: Timbale of moist, fibrous crab meat bound with what may be mayonnaise and bread crumbs, then baked. Sauce seems to be Béchamel with a bit of Dijon mustard. Accompanied by al dente asparagus and ribbon of braised leeks. 2) Confit de Canard à l'Orange: Leg & thigh of duck cooked in its own juices to almost falling off the bone. Touch of Grand Marnier and orange juice is added to pan drippings of the duck to create the finishing sauce. Haricots Verts/green beans, Pommes Purées/mashed potatoes 1-2) Les Cadrans de Lassègue, Saint Émilion Grand Cru 2022: My guess is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot deep red wine with full blackberry, dark plum, blueberry. Bit of barnyard, humus, good acidity & touch of bitter tannins balanced by smooth sweetness. Since it rested only 3 years, the tannins haven't had time to mellow out more. 3) Soufflé au Chocolat: Because it was in a mini soufflé dish, the high heat penetrated more intensely to create a drier texture, more like a brownie. Very thick Crème Chantilly which added to the enjoyment. 3a) I asked if there were a Banyuls, a Southern French port like liqueur that pairs well with chocolate, but was suggested a Graham Tawny Port. Light, sprightly, sweet smooth with touch of dates, grape, alcohol, it paired well with the Soufflé. 4) Mignardise is a petit Chocolate Truffle. The food here is good, but you have to eat at the bar to be under the wing of Dana, bartender nonpareil. She is a seasoned veteran who knows her trade especially in how to treat customers. She is a natural being able to read customers and think proactively for a better customer experience. Kudos to her understated yet powerful performance beyond the call of duty. Overall, 4+ stars due to Dana's ministrations.

Service was great, from valet parking to obtaining a table as a walk in group. We were lucky as we arrived during peek times of the day: lunch time. Staff was attentive often refilling our waters and checking in with us. I ordered the king salmon entree. It included a nice sized salmon the top layer of the salmon had a smoked crispy texture to it; it was amazing. It also had a side of mash potatoes broccoli and veggies. 5/5! I tried my friend's escargot and the sauce on top of it is "chef's kiss" delicious, rich like a pesto taste to it. 5/5 I would definitely get this appetizer next time. Also, the servings here are not your typical large dish; so FYI you may not get full. We ended well with the chocolate soufflé that had a side of whipped cream 5/5! This restaurant is definitely a fancy place and I highly suggest you book them for your next special event.

Mistral has been in Sherman Oaks for years and seems to be one of their staple restaurants so I was excited to try it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a tiny little spot with a very cozy darkly lit dining room with great ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's packed with people from the time they open for dinner until they close.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is fantastic. From the moment we entered, until we left we were met with amazing hospitality. Our drinks were constantly full, fresh silverware was being brought out, and we were cracking jokes. Unfortunately that's where the positive review ends. The food left a lot to be desired, accompanied with high prices. We started with the French onion soup and escargot. Both were okay but not something I'd want again. For our entrees we got the pappardelle porcini mushroom pasta, New York steak, and panko crusted John Dory. I was only able to have a couple bites of the pasta before I had to stop because there was something off about the sauce and it left an extremely strong aftertaste. The New York came in a very thick cut that resembled a filet and was very tough. However, the fries that accompanied the steak was very good and tasted like McDonald fries. The fish was tasty due to the panko crust but overall dry. The only real winners were the chocolate soufflé and the crème brûlée we got for dessert.

Cute French restaurant. Great service. Dark romantic dining room. The outside seating looks nice too. All the food and drinks were fabulous. Had the lamb and duck confit.

Mistral serves some of the best french cuisine in LA, excellent service (Danny, our server, was awesome), [[HIGHLIGHT]]classic decor, formal white table cloth but yet, the place feels casual and comfortable[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], we love it. 5 stars, highly recommended! You have to try the escargots, duck confit and chocolate soufflé!

So it really is tough because it's between a 3 and a 4 for review. The food is good, but it isn't as good as the prices would make you think. Some of the service is great, but our server was just okay. I tried to ask questions about wine and he just said it's good. Had to ask to learn soup du jour, etc. I had the mussels. Good, not great. Fries were great though. Started with the crab cake and it was good though the sauce is a bit too mustardy so it took away from the crab. Really enjoyed the heirloom tomato salad. The soufflé was something I wouldn't waste time on again. For me not to finish a dessert is unheard of, but I left some behind. It's very very loud but it's fun. Overpriced though.

Our 61st wedding anniversary dinner was reserved for 5:00 pm. It was the first time for my husband but I have been at Mistral several times. The valet was the truly best. I need a steady hand. We were greeted and taken to our reserved table. A delicious hot puff was very rich and bite sized. I selected a blood orange margarita. All good. I wanted French Onion Soup that was the best. I haven't been so lucky elsewhere. It was hot and cheesy. Crunchy buns and sweet butter was presented. I also ordered burrata with tomatoes and peaches that the server split because he felt it was too much for me. He was right. My husband ordered duck confit for dinner. I selected angel hair pasta perfect!!! Desserts were peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream. For me, chocolate fondue. The servers cleaned crumbs and refilled water quietly. Beautiful bar. Next table was rather loud. I had hoped that when their food was served that the ladies would quiet down while eating. Oh well.

A cozy Chicago/European bistro feel to this classic & beloved L.A. eatery with black & white tile floors, and cozy tables. Fine white tablecloth dining and fine service at reasonable prices. No tiny-taste portions here, and it never disappoints. Be sure to try the green soup. You can tell that Ownership has its eyes on every detail up to and including the wonderful whimsical artwork on the big wall by the bar. Had the grilled salmon done perfectly with mixed vegetables that were sauteed and tasty and the broccoli soup. Delicious.

I enjoyed a nice brisket with some wine. It was a mountain of beef on my plate with some vegetable garnish. Awesome meal, delicious and filled up. I also tasted their fries and steak, and if you like fries, hot damn! I'll be returning. A gem in disguise. Amazing service, attention to detail, spectacular, delicious food. Chain the chefs to the kitchen and don't loose them, a rare breed! Here is a snap of my onion soup, yum!

    Are the mussels good?

YUM, yes, YUM YUM YES yes!!!!

Do they serve steak tartare at the lunch seating?

It is not on the lunch menu but ask the server and you can have it.

Is duck confit no longer offered? I checked the website menu and it's not listed there.

    Is there a corkage fee?

Yes, it's thirty dollars to my knowledge. I was there fairly recently. Enjoy Mistral! I recommend a wine there called Honig. It's about eighty dollars but drinks like a much more expensive wine. It's on their wine list.

Ambiance: Modern with dark tones (some parts of the restaurant are dark), leather chairs, emerald-colored booths. It's definitely stylish, classy with a mix of intimacy; there's some good energy here. The square shaped bar is stylish with marbled counter and chair stool seating; there's a couple TVs within view sitting in this section. There's also the main dining room as well as a partially covered patio. Good music. I've sat in the bar as well as the main dining room and find them both enjoyable. Service: Service has always been great the times I have been with everyone being professional, friendly and addressing needs easily from ownership, management, and all staff members. Food: A good mix of starters, fresh seafood, salads, steaks of course, various side dishes, and some other entrees. A few of my favorites include the wagyu meatball steak tartare jumbo shrimp cocktail chopped salad 6 oz petit filet 32 oz porterhouse mashed potato mac & cheese The steaks I've ordered have been cooked well to my liking and the meats have always been tender and seasoned well. The wagyu meatball is very tender with good flavor, the vodka sauce is not overpowering. Love the chopped salad with the red wine vinaigrette and the crunch from the crispy chickpeas. Mashed potatoes are creamy and very good. The jumbo shrimp cocktail is great and comes with three shrimps served with lemon, mustard aioli and cocktail sauce. Drinks: Great classic and off-menu cocktails, a couple beers, a couple non-alcoholic cocktails/mocktails, champagne and a wonderfully curated wine list. My ultimate favorite is the BLVD martini made with gin. It automatically comes with a half-filled side shaker effectively giving you an extra pour for a great value and experience. Happy hour: 5-6pm in the bar only, featuring some discounted cocktails and foods (from the main menu but with the addition of a burger) Parking: There is valet parking available (currently at $15). There's a huge statue of a bald eagle in the center of the room, the vibe was giving Old Money Hollywood. Shoutout to our server Ronnie! He was super kind, helpful, and made our dining experience really enjoyable. We ordered Brussels sprouts to share and ooooh boy were they addicting! They were roasted with a deep char flavor, not crispy but had good texture. My boyfriend ordered a Caesar Salad, it tasted great, but could have had better presentation to match the vibes of the restaurant (but that's just me being picky haha). I ordered the Roasted Chicken, it came with fingerling potatoes, asparagus, and a nice sauce. Chicken was juicy and had rich flavor without feeling too heavy. potatoes were really good, I try to be low carb but they were too good to pass up! The sauce made the dish. It was creamy, little tangy, went very well with the chicken. My boyfriend loved his steak! I don't remember exactly which steak he ordered but he appreciated that they made it to his liking. He likes his steaks on the well side but not too well where it's dry. They cooked it perfectly! Would definitely come back for another date night or for any celebrations.

Although it didn't really necessarily show up as "the best food in LA area" but all the reviews were so good so I became curious to try. Mainly the reviews also raved about the vibes, services, and live music. Well, they were not wrong! It was fairly easy to make a reservation through Opentable, and I made a reservation for two people for my birthday dinner on Sunday night. I put on the notes that it's my bday so it'll be nice to get a nice table near the stage. I didn't have a high expectation, cos I'd never been to the place and I didn't make a call or anything. But wow, they definitely gave us a great table at the very front! As many reviewers had mentioned, the acoustic of the restaurant is really great. You can barely hear other people's conversations. There's a live jazz band playing, so you can really enjoy that. Although it made it slightly hard to hear what other nearby people say to you either, haha. Our server Dawson was a really great one! Very nice, very informative and just has a great vibe that made you feel comfortable to converse with him. We also asked if he could take a picture of us and he went above and beyond with taking our pictures haha. He took the table lamp as our additional "lighting". Such a great service! Dawson also made a few suggestions on food. We ordered the milk bun (so great!), the tiger prawns tostada (omg, my favorite of the night!), braised lamb pasta, pork belly risotto, and roasted broccolini. Everything was really good and really filled us up! We also got the "smokin old fashioned" and "Wake up and repeat" cocktails. It was plenty of food for us so we asked for a check. Dawson asked if we wanted a dessert but we were already full. He asked if it's ok to give us a lil treat for my bday. It was a really nice dessert :). Oh I forgot to mention that they also put a small bday card on the table for me. The prices of food and drinks are on the higher sides, but I feel like it's worth it due to the live music and the vibe. It easily covers the entertainment part. We definitely will go back and recommend this place for anyone who's looking into a nice date night or to celebrate something special. I was informed that Friday has more of a "party vibe" here, although it's still a jazz performance. Sunday feels more laid back :) Overall I'm really pleased by this place. I used to think that I don't care that much about excellent service as long as the food is great, but I was wrong. The excellent hospitality just made the night even better than expected. Thank you for making my bday dinner memorable.

We got the tiger prawns and it was presented as a toasta, which had a great flavor and texture. The apple salad was also refreshing and a good portion to share between 2 people. The broccolini was cooked perfectly and my favorite after the tiger prawns was the Dungeness crab pasta. It had uni on top! The uni elevated the dish, and honestly there were a good amount of crab meat in the dish. Overall well balanced and creamy. The 2 of us left full and satisfied. We were able to walk right in and grab a table as the afternoon rush was over. First, it is a cute restaurant with nice ambiance inside. You can also eat outside it looked like, but it was hot so that was not going to be an option. Started with the mini crab cakes and the tuna on crispy rice. The crab cakes had a good amount of crab in them, which was really nice, but they definitely tasted under seasoned. The tuna on crispy rice was great though, topped with avocado and a spicy mayo. Nice crispiness on the outside, soft rice in the middle, good flavor, just a nice bite. For entrees we tried the chimichuri steak sandwich, the French dip and the lobster roll. The lobster roll looks the part but was light on the actual lobster, in our opinions. Felt the bread to everything else ratio was really off, so it feels like mostly bread with some lobster here and there. The chimichuri steak sandwich comes with arugula, gruyere, roasted peppers and grilled shallots and was a decent bite but not overly memorable. The French dip, on the other hand, was really tasty with that au jus and melted cheese. That was the real winner. Overall, nice ambiance, drinks were decent, some misses and some hits. If you go, definitely get the French dip and the tuna of sticky rice, slip that liner roll and the mini crab cakes and up to you on the chimichuri steak sandwich.

To begin, we were running late to our 8pm reservation. We did call ahead to let them know and the woman who answered the phone (didn't get her name) was very welcoming and accommodating We appreciated that. We were about 30 mins. late and upon arrival we were welcomed and seated immediately. We were seated in the back (I think it's the back) lol , near the kitchen area, in a more private section of the restaurant It was wonderful. the overall experience was a 10/10!!! However, I have to highlight the service that our waiter Paul gave us! WOW! You guys have a super star on your hands! From his warm, welcoming personality , to his witty remarks & stellar expertise on the menu and the different steak cuts you offer. Paul is truly a GEM! We truly enjoyed our experience last night! The entire vibe was through the roof for us! We also enjoyed the restaurant music, which in most establishments is not that great. So who ever was in charge of the music playlist last night, AWESOME JOB! To the Chef, everyone at the table throughly enjoyed our meals! the steaks were cooked perfectly & the sides were so delicious! I personally enjoyed the corn crème brulee. Only a genus could come up with that. We want to thank Steak 48 and most importantly Paul, for an outstanding job and amazing customer service! We can not wait to come back

If you're a Philly cheesesteak lover, you have to check out Bone Yard Bistro in Sherman Oaks! Their…read morePhilly is only available during a limited service window, so be sure to check the menu for the days and times before you go. The sandwich is absolutely out of this world. It's served on a fresh, perfectly crisp roll, loaded with tender meat and plenty of melted cheese. Every bite literally melts in your mouth. If you like a little heat, I highly recommend ordering a side of the chilis--they take it to another level. And don't skip the espresso martini! It's the perfect pairing because, honestly, that sandwich is so satisfying it might just put you to sleep afterward. Beyond the cheesesteak, Bone Yard Bistro is an incredible BBQ spot with a creative cocktail menu and genuinely thoughtful, attentive service. You can tell every dish has been carefully crafted with flavor in mind. The décor is unique and modern with a subtle Southern BBQ vibe that's been elevated to fit Sherman Oaks perfectly. I was there for Tequila Tuesday last week (they have a $10 specialty drink menu!), and the deviled eggs absolutely hit the spot. Whether you're going for the famous Philly, the BBQ, or happy hour, Bone Yard Bistro is definitely worth adding to your list. Trust me--you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

This place has gone to the dumps, spend your money elsewhere. They do nothing right, bbq is whack and their kegs are old and taps are dirty and moldy.

I think I…read morewas a little hesitant because I had never tried this style of Hawaiian cuisine before, but I'm so glad we finally came. The service was wonderful from start to finish. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome. To start I really loved the yellowtail crispy rice. It was one of the best versions I've ever had. The spicy yellowtail was perfectly seasoned, the crispy rice had the ideal texture, and the sauce, ikura, and finishing touches brought everything together beautifully. I also loved that they offered a 50/50 option with Spam crispy rice since that's my husband's favorite, so we both got exactly what we wanted. The tuna poki featured excellent quality fish, although the sauce wasn't my personal favorite. My husband absolutely loved it, though. The dumplings were another highlight and ended up being his favorite dish of the night. You could tell they were made fresh in-house, and the peas added a really nice balance. My only note was that the sauce leaned a little too heavily on the coconut flavor for my taste. For our entrée, we ordered the pan-fried snapper. I completely forgot to take a photo before we started serving ourselves, but it was beautifully cooked. It reminded me a bit of bronzino with its delicate, flaky texture. The fish itself was fantastic, although, similar to a few other dishes, the sauce wasn't quite what I'm used to. The warm rice pudding was also really tasty. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough actual rice pudding compared to all of the toppings because the flavor was so good. For reference, I'm someone who really doesn't enjoy Thai food, while my husband loves it. This isn't Thai food at all, but some of the sauces had coconut-forward flavor profiles that reminded me of flavors I typically don't gravitate toward. Even with that, I still genuinely enjoyed every dish we ordered, which says a lot about how well everything was prepared. There were dishes I'd absolutely order again, and others I'd probably swap out next time simply because there were so many interesting options on the menu. I also appreciated that the menu had plenty of seafood options, which was perfect since I've been trying to eat more fish. Everything we ordered was fresh and high quality. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere. It's on the smaller side, but it feels cozy rather than cramped. I also think it's a great place to come with a group because the portions are perfect for sharing, making it easy to try a variety of dishes. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back. Next time, I'd love to explore more of the menu because there were so many dishes that caught my eye.
