Nice Italian spot on Montana with many options on their menu. There's indoor and outdoor seating, both were good and inside smelt amazing and like authentic Italian food, but we decided to sit outside because it was quieter. The restaurant itself has a nice vibe, great spot for dinner. Our server was okay, it seemed like every time I asked for something he seemed annoyed/bothered making me feel uncomfortable asking or ordering anything. However, we did go on a very busy night so maybe he was just stressed or overwhelmed. We ordered the calamari and carbonara pasta. The calamari was okay, but I was pretty disappointed with the carbonara, it lacked flavor. HOWEVER, the pizza... the pizza tasted phenomenal!! We got the pepperoni pizza and it was packed with flavor, every bite tasted amazing! The portion size was good as well. I will most definitely be coming back to try more of their pizzas!

Honestly best pasta I've ever had and customer service is great would come back again for sure first time here!

Best pasta ever would recommended first time here! The customer service is amazing and I know I'll be back for sure :)

I found this place during the pandemic and remembered the excellent take out service. Four years later, we finally dined in person and had a wonderful experience! This no frills restaurant makes up for everything with their food. I will be back next time I am in the area. Personal note: thank you for celebrating my birthday! I appreciate the Chianti and service !!

We don't crave Italian food often, but when we do, we go to Spumoni. We know we will always have a great experience there. They play classic Italian music like "That's Amore", the owner is the friendliest man you'll ever meet, and the food is top notch and served with love at a reasonable price. I went on a weekday dinner with my wife and toddler, and there were many open tables. The waiter brought us water and bread with olive tapenade. The owner, an older Italian gentleman, came out to give us recommendations on the menu. He asked what our toddler liked to eat and brought us out a small kids sized plate on the house. Our chopped salad came split in two plates without us needing to ask for it. The owner chatted with us about the beauty of life and spending time with family. The spaghetti carbonara was out of this world. The chicken limone had an excellent grilled flavor with just the right amount of lemon. They brought us to go boxes when we mentioned we wanted to save some for lunch the next day. And of course they brought out the complimentary dessert. The whole time the owner was so friendly with our toddler. We all had a great time.

This was our second time at Spumoni. Our first visit was great, and the owner/manager just happened to come by each table and chat for a bit. We visited again for late Mother's Day dinner, and that wasn't just a "one-off". The owner, whose name we now know is Vasik, did the same thing we saw him do years go. He greeted guests at each table, and checked on everyone and often, IN ADDITION to taking orders and serving food. He enjoyed some bread and olive tapenade, to start. Then went on to order our entrees: Farfalle al Salmone Spaghetti Portofino Chicken Parmigiana Gnocchi Loren Every single dish we had was deliciously flavorful! He even topped off our dinner with complimentary tiramisu for my family of 5. Spumoni is now our new go-to for great authentic Italian food, and friendly service.

A warm and homely nook in the midst of an often superficial ventura blvd. Sorry Olive Garden, but when you are here, you are family unconditionally. Do not force your expectations and allow the charm of this establishment to treat you. Bread, olive oil, vinaigrette, add and olive dip to start. A carbonara and gnocchi pesto chicken broccoli dish, with garlic bread on the side. Sauvignon Blanc to wash it down and a tiramisu to seal the deal. The conversation between bites is sincere, and any delay in service is compensated for with heart and soul. Support the real ones and bring your loved ones here.

When the owner of the restaurant greets you, takes your order, and is running around with a huge smile on his face doing when he loves -- you know it's going to be good!!! This restaurant is the place to eat whenever you're craving Italian. The bread was so fresh and came with a delicious caper dip. The pastas were flavorful; huge portions too. But the complimentary tiramisu was the cherry on top! Would highly recommend this restaurant!

Satisfied is an understatement! The pasta was fresh as can be. Service was amazing, very attentive staff. We will definitely be back. Tiramisu was 100000/10

ugh this pasta was SO good. the owner was SO kind and friendly to our table. he was very charismatic and made the whole experience a memorable one. the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, a little dated but there's an old school charm in that. if I'm being picky, the food wasn't super hot when it had come out. otherwise, superb!!!

I'm beyond starstruck, I almost needed to ask for an autograph coming to this restaurant. The owner is so nice. I had so many questions about different dishes, that I was unfamiliar with, and he answered everything so nicely & patiently and it felt so genuine. When I came, my food was fresh and hot and so amazing I can't even begin to explain if you don't try this place then you're crazy. This is the best Italian food I've ever had, and the best pasta I've ever had at a restaurant, other than me eating my own, their sauce is so good. I found my Italian restaurant and it's right down the street from me.. I was given a free dessert homemade, of course most definitely delicious. this is family owned you can tell, if you don't come here, you must be crazy.

Do they have a corkage fee?

    I don't know

    Is there outdoor dining?

    No.

Are there vegan entree options? Are any of the sauces vegan?

I don't think so. Best you can do is ask for no cheese but I believe they all have butter.

    Any gluten free options?

    Yes

Do they have outdoor dining options?

    Yes.

What is the owner's first name? He is always so kind that I want to be able to address him by his first :)

His name is Vasek. Such a friendly man.

Do they make their own fresh pasta?

Oh yes and their own sauces.

Do they have an full bar?

They do not. So enjoy a good dinner with some wine and then head to the many bars on Ventura that do!

Is this the same owners as spumoni in santa monica?

    Nope. Just same name.

Volare! That is,…read morefly, don't run, to try this amazing hidden gem of an Italian restaurant. I had no idea it existed, but when we were coming back from another spot in Sherman Oaks we passed it. I love Italian food so I looked it up here on Yelp and was impressed with what I saw and made a reservation right away. Oliva serves lunch every day from 11 to 2, which is perfect for us. It took us only 20 minutes to get there and we found free parking right out in front on Van Nuys Boulevard. Easy! Once inside I was bowled over by how pretty it is and how like the trattorias I frequented all over Italy. I can only imagine how it glitters and sparkles at night. It is a large space with multiple seating areas, a glorious bar, and an old fashioned pizza oven, so we could watch them make pizza and their home made bread, which they bring to the table gratis, with their own bespoke olive oil and vinegars from Italy. Our carer, Ricardo, spoke perfect Italian and I did my best to reply in kind. Overhead was all the best Italian musical hits that are familiar and popular here, which I appreciate. I like the atmosphere of a restaurant to reflect and enhance the cuisine. Everything got better and better from the minute we arrived. We got to pick our own seats, as this is the time of day when people are usually in between meals, especially on weekend days. We chose to sit in a cheerful spot, bathed in daylight through the spotless windows. Everything is pristine and immaculate -- even the ceilings (see my pictures). There are so many vegetarian options for me on the menu that I know I will have to return again and again to try them all. Every single thing we ordered was superb -- really, the best of its kind. Ricardo was the perfect host. He seemed to appear as if by magic when we even thought about asking for something and was so polite, that we realized how rare this kind of professional courtesy is anywhere in America these days. In Europe, restaurant service is a trained and valued profession and Ricardo embodied that approach when taking care of us. I had to contain my joy and almost squealed when I saw our two desserts (see my photos). First class everything: top quality linens, flatware, glasses, stone floor, hand painted murals, lights twinkling elegantly all over the main rooms and a wine selection at the bar that looked brilliantly curated. Some of the best coffee I have had in ages (Danesi), too. There is no doubt in my mind that Oliva Trattoria can rival the best of the West Side famous Italian places that we all make the obligatory trek to at some point. As far as I am concerned, when I want upscale perfection in a trattoria, Oliva will be my go-to.

The service was wonderful, we had a party of 12 that turned into 14 and they were accommodating. The 2 Salads we had were decent. The caesars, salad was nothing to rave about, but good portion for a half, and only $4 more for full. I had the spaghetti mare with seafood and it was supposed to be spicy and it was not. I asked for red pepper Flakes and that did help. My friend had the brisket which was actually short ribs and she said it was ok but didn't finish it. We shared the chocolate cake and it was rich! Served with a side of homemade whipped cream. I also took a picture of the chicken marsala and it looks really good. The other people at the table had pizza and other dishes and they seemed to enjoy it as they finished everything. There's very limited parking behind the resturant and plenty of street parking when I went on Saturday evening. I
