I've been a regular at this restaurant for many many years I live in Encino and I'm sad to say that the quality of the food has significantly decreased, and their prices have gone up, which is absolutely not proportionate to the quality of food I ordered the chicken breaded and it tasted like shake and bake The pasta was average yet very expensive for olive oil and garlic There's a add-on for every single thing, including bread I have ordered the salad on a few occasions this past year, and it is watery and over priced I have ordered via takeout and I've sat at the restaurant for dining it has a very strong odor in the restrooms, and it does not appear to be clean if the restroom and back the restaurant is dirty then that means the kitchen is dirty Being very concerned health issues, I am extremely hesitant to ever endorse this place and I will not order again One chicken mayonnaise and one pasta with olive oil and two pieces of piece of pizza bread $80 Absolutely unacceptable The only good thing is the server Jaime He's a very sweet man and a great server and friendly to all the regulars. I have wanted to try Emilio's for YEARS, having passed by it so many times on Ventura Blvd. I also see it anytime I come to Benihana, which is right next door. Today, my son and I finally made it a reality and stopped in for a late lunch. It's been around for about 30 years now and is the sister restaurant to La Scala in Beverly Hills. The place was completely dead, like a graveyard. Not a single sound except the cars passing by outside. There was no music playing or anything. An older gentleman sitting a few feet away in a booth said hello and got up to seat us. Once in our booth, another party of 2 was seated a few minutes after us and they were the only other people that walked in during our time here. The ambience was genuinely not doing it for me and wasn't inviting nor lively at all. The space itself is huge, has a big patio, and is SUPER CLEAN along with the bathroom. There is nice decor all over, even in the bathroom. Cute caricature drawings of well-known old school celebs that have dined here in the past. I saw Frank Sinatra, Joan Collins, Jane Fonda, Barbra Streisand...many more. The bread basket was warm and yummy. I ordered a small Caesar salad (no anchovies, $14.99) and the Penne Beverly (add chicken, $29.90). The salad was great and the pasta was very delicious and just how I like. Not saucy at all. Very simple and fresh, with spinach, sun dried tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms, and olive oil. Everything was good quality and piping hot. All my son got was a small Caesar salad (add chicken, $20.90) and he said he liked it. We shared a house-made tiramisu ($9.95) and it was just okay. Nothing to write home about. We've had better and it needed to be soaked longer. Miriam was our somewhat friendly server and she took our order/brought our food and checked on us after the meal. Overall, I think the place is nice and the food is good, however it's just too pricey. Also, the parking situation is pretty rough in the middle of the day on Ventura, unless you want to go ahead with their Valet parking. Authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of Encino with a list of regular customers who have become e a part of the family. Our first visit to this establishment and it won't be the last. A marinara they could bottle and make a fortune with, Chef Emilio, formerly of La Scala in Beverly Hills has brought his talents to the San Fernando Valley and is delighting all who stop by. Our waiter Seto and his counterpart Oscar treated us like we knew them for years. Each question was thoughtfully answered and the food prepared was exquisitely presented and prepared. One of the best Caesar salads I have tasted was followed by Shrimp Diavolo in a spicy but not overpowering marinara sauce. The shrimp were served butterfly style and brought out the best flavors. My wife had the linguine in red clam sauce served with gluten free pasta. I'm impressed that they have several gluten free options which only endears me to this beautifully decorated restaurant. On the walls are caricatures of the many celebrities Emilio has cooked for and the list is as amazing as it is daunting. I was imagining Charlie Chaplin, Marlon Brando and Jimmy Stewart eating the same cuisine I was having. Sammy Davis Jr., Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra have tasted the delights of Emilio's expertise so we were in great company. Should you crave authenticity in Italian cuisine (and the table bread is out of this world too), stop in and have a meal you won't forget. Emilio's - 9.16.25 we started with a Margarita pizza - add basil for the table as an appetizer- a very simple pizza, but the sauce was amazing. The bite of the dough was really good and the cheese was just right. Awesome! For my main, I had the Chicken piccata with sides of spinach, spaghetti. This is one of the best chicken piccata I've ever had. The meat was tender with delicious flavors of garlic butter and lemon and of course the capers I had some leftover for lunch the next day and it was delicious then as well. The moment you walk in, you feel very welcomed and first thing you notice is the classic Italian style seating with the booths and the cool artwork. Was welcomed warmly, came here with friends who have been coming here for years, so they definitely know the deal and the Angel hair pasta I went with was delicious, very filling, the chopped salad was so perfectly diced, phenomenal. The reason I'm giving this place one star is solely because of the poor customer service. My mom took my son for a late lunch/dinner this past Saturday and was appalled by the behavior of the host. Upon arrival, instead of greeting her, he immediately asked if she was in the correct location. My mom, confused, replied, "This is the Italian restaurant, right?" since it was her first time there. He said, "Yes, it is, but are you sure you're in the right place?" My mom responded again, "Yes, I am. Can you please find a table near the window?" The host refused, saying those tables were for parties of 30 or more. She then pointed to a smaller empty table and asked if they could sit there. He replied, "No, that table is reserved." The restaurant was nearly empty at the time. At that point, my mom was frustrated and just told him to seat her anywhere. He then led her to a small corner table and never came back to check on her. Thankfully, another server named Jose took over and was very kind and attentive -- he was the only positive part of her experience. I wish my mom had caught the host's name, because I truly hope management addresses his behavior. My mom is a Hispanic woman with a heavy accent, and she left feeling discriminated against. No guest should ever feel unwelcome or disrespected in that way. read more

We hadn't been back in a while so our memory of the salad was perhaps more than the reality. But we were looking forward to the chopped salad. My wife got the one with salami and I got the chicken - each with the small size. The small size is still quite large and more than enough for an entree salad. Presentation was excellent (see photo). Let's start with parking. They have a private lock behind the restaurant valet lunch five dollars dinner seven dollars. Dining is available inside and outside the restaurant. Today we had lunch and it was 83° inside the restaurant so I suspect they did not run the air conditioning. Service was lacking a bit water glasses. RT were not refilled or not offered a refill. In order was made for a salad to add a protein to it. The waiter talked about the fact that the protein was made in house but then failed to add it to the order. The food was good. I had a chicken sandwich which had good flavor and fresh bread. My wife ordered a Sicilian salad, which I thought had a bit too much oil and there was cheese on it. It was minuscule. read more

To begin, our waiter was absolutely wonderful...caring, pleasant, and professional (the one star rating is not about him). Unfortunately, he was the only positive part of this, our first visit to this restaurant. The food (specifically the chicken piccata) was practically inedible. The chicken was dry and extremely difficult to cut...with a serrated knife! The sauce was just a swill of butter with no taste of the lemon or capers. The spinach was just a soggy mess. However that was not the worst of the experience. When I very respectfully spoke with the owner and expressed my thoughts, it was like talking to a brick wall. "I just served four of these to the next table", she said defiantly. When I showed her how tough the chicken was to cut, her answer was again defiantly..."we never have any complaints". And when I calmly told her that in my opinion, the chicken was very tough, she said (and I quote), "no it's not". She turned the saying "the customer's always right" into "the customer has no idea what's he's talking about!". The entire situation would have been laughable if it weren't for her total arrogance and lack of empathy for a customer who was trying to salvage a negative dining experience. And when I finally said that we would not be returning, she smiled and seemed to be totally unaware that she had single-handedly lost a customer (and the friends he might have brought with him in the future). I guess there was a reason that there were few tables occupied at 6:30pm. But I want to conclude on a positive note by again acknowledging the terrific waiter who tried his best to make us feel welcome. Heaven knows the owner failed miserably in that effort. read more

This week my chopped salad didn't have dressing, or both of the extras I paid for(tomatoes and garbanzo beans). I'm just so disappointed bc I order salads daily but I'm picky. This was one I'll miss. Excellent customer service by Lupe, our server, and delightful food. The calamari is tender and very tasty. Great marinara sauce. My favorite! My husband had the chicken parmigiana. He loved it! Chopped salami salad was great. We ended our date night with a delicious tirimisu. Perfectly done and yummy delicious with a glass of wine. We most definitely we will be back! This place is known for the chopped salad. I see lots of tables ordering the chopped salad with chicken for lunch. Great option for a hot day. Light enough so you don't sweat but filling too. Get the small size - it's big enough serving! You can choose to sit inside or outside. The staffs here are very nice gentlemen. They bring you toasted bread with butter once you are seated. The bread is toasted a bit too hard. And the butter is cold so it's not spreadable. Hack: let the butter sit a little bit on the warm bread, then you can spread it easily. read more

This is the best Italian restaurant in the valley hands-down. I am from Beverly Hills and I eat at La Scala on Cannon Drive all the time. I was very pleased to learn that this used to be La Scala and they have a very similar menu. I got the turkey chopped salad and it was delicious. The pizza here is some of the best pizza you can get outside of Italy. I got the mushroom pizza and the dough was so fluffy and perfectly cooked. The portion is enough for two people to share. The minestrone soup has no noodles in it and it's so delicious and homemade. We got the spinach tagliatelle and the penne Beverly and they were both excellent vegetarian options. Just so you know our food came within minutes of us sitting down in the service was amazing. Jaime is the best waiter and he has been working here over 25 years. PLEASE READ! This was my go to neighborhood restaurant. My husband and I went there for many years and ate there often. The food was good, but I always appreciated the friendliness and great service by the waiters, and we all knew each other by name. The owner, Mike is a great guy, who was very personable. He made you feel welcome, and he would go around to the tables to greet the guests which also made for a nice experience. As of the past several years, Mike hasn't been there, and I don't know the reason. His wife Maggie has taken over, and she is the reason I will not give them my business anymore. She is a miserable person who is unfriendly and rude. She has gotten takeout orders wrong and didn't care if they were corrected, is indignant to customers, among other things. The straw that broke the camel's back was when my sister planned a birthday lunch for me with twelve people to sit on the patio. She specifically called days ahead to make a reservation and spoke with Maggie, who assured us that the tables would be set up properly for a group that size. When we got to the restaurant, nothing had been done. She accused her of not calling, and made a big deal about setting up the tables the way they were supposed to be. We had to stand there for about fifteen minutes while she begrudgingly corrected the set up. There are many other restaurants who would welcome my business, especially during Covid.
