Service: Horrible! Food: Not good Value/Price: Expensive Quality: Low We arrive and the window was closed, so we started ordering on the tablet. A gentleman arrived and complained about the girl not helping and being inside on her phone. We didn't know what to do, but he did knock on the window and order. We ordered the $50 4 person taco plater even tho we are only two. We saw the cook putting our order together and letting the girl know. She then got busy with a guy that lost his wallet on Monday, she then spend about 10 minutes with him trying to see in the cameras what had happened. We then had to step in and ask to please be provided with our now cold order. She passed us the bag and we had to again ask for the plates, utensils, napkins and our drinks. We got home and the amount of food was very small, the cucumber was cut into humongous chunks, and honestly the flavor was not to die for. We will never ever visit the place again and I recommend you don't. I actually don't even give a single star to this business. read more

I have been to this location of Tacos 1986 several times. My go to order are the tacos and vampiros. Chicken, carne asada, al pastor...all very delicious! The salsas and guacamole complement my order excellently! I am giving two stars, however, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, at times, the amount of meat per taco or vampiro is minimal. In turn, at times, the amount of meat is very fair. So, consistency is lacking. Thus, effectively , you don't always get your money's worth. Secondly, I believe that they are understaffed or not prepared when business gets busy. For example, I recently stopped by on a Saturday at 10:30am for a couple of tacos. After waiting for ten minutes for someone to come to the window and provide some service, I was told that the wait time for anything that I order will be a minimum of 25 minutes because they have large online orders that they need to prepare. Obviously, I left. The employee was kind but appeared to also be a stressed out. Though I understand that online (DoorDash, GrubHub, etc...) orders are a reality in the world today, it is unfortunate that customers frequenting a business in-person would not be able to be served in a decent and timely manner. I recommend Tacos 1986 if you would like some good food. However, only go in-person if you know that you have, for sure, 25 minutes for a couple of street tacos. Otherwise, you may have to walk away while still hungry, like I did. read more

The food was good but the service was terrible. We asked to use the bathroom and they told us it was out of service as we were getting our food another customer asked to use the bathroom and was given the code. The sauce station was empty when I asked for sauces I was ignored by the cashier the cook came out to give me sauce and lime. What a horrible experience. What an embarrassment. I literally paid $25 for a burrito and even paid extra for extra meat. When I got it, the thing was basically the size of two tacos. On top of that, I left a tip, and when I asked for a few extra limes, they charged me another 50 cents for FOUR little slices of lime. Seriously? It's not about the 50 cents--it's about the terrible customer service and nickel-and-diming a paying customer after already charging $25 for an undersized burrito. And to make matters worse, while they were still preparing food, employees were literally sweeping and cleaning around the food because they were apparently in a hurry to close up and get out early. Watching dust and debris being swept around while food is being prepared was absolutely disgusting. My employees eat here frequently, but I've already told them we will not be coming back, and I've let my friends know as well. So enjoy the extra 50 cents. You lost a regular group of customers over crappy customer service, four slices of lime, and what I personally witnessed while my food was being prepared. When this first opened near my house, I was so excited and it was my favorite place up until a month ago. Apparently I cannot order a side of shredded cheese to put on my tacos or add cheese to my tacos. The excuse is that now they use sliced cheese. I am baffled that they have decided to not allow someone to get cheese on their taco. I used to go three times a week. Haven't been there in a month. read more

It's an ok place for a quick burrito. We ordered here again yesterday via delivery and it wasn't amazing. It was just ok.... My biggest argument is the amount of meat they give you in a burrito or the bowl. If you don't get extra meat, you are not going to be happy. My little bowl became a lot more expensive just so I could get enough meat in there to be happy. I will say that the flour tortillas are very good. Just the taste in general is wonderful. I pay for one on the side of my bowl so I can make a taco or 2. The reason for that?!I tried o dering tacos and they looked so sad. There were unfortunately nothing to brag about. Figured I'd be happier making my own. I'm hoping that I will have a better experience picking it up myself or ordering it there as opposed to online, but this is my 3rd go around and it's been the same unexciting result. read more

Tacos 1986 in Sherman Oaks is definitely worth checking out especially on Taco Tuesday (if you eat meat) I showed up during what I expected to be a busy time, but the wait was almost nonexistent. My food was ready in less than five minutes, which was impressive. Fatima, the cashier, really made the experience stand out. She was incredibly pleasant and patient, answered all my questions without rushing me, and made ordering easy. Great customer service goes a long way, and she absolutely delivered. The tacos themselves are pretty good. The menu is on the smaller side, but they do a solid job covering different options, including vegetarian choices. I ordered the mushroom quesadilla tacos, and they came with guacamole, cheese, cilantro, and onion simple but flavorful and satisfying. Overall, I'm giving them 3 stars mainly because the customer service and speed were phenomenal. Pair that with reasonable prices and solid food, and you've got a pretty good taco spot in Sherman Oaks. I'll definitely be back. Wish they had veggie options for taco Tuesday. read more

The hongos tacos and burritos are incredible. Price is a little steep, but the superb salsas complement the excellent menu items perfectly. It's a walk up taco stand, and it pains me to say it, but it needs more seating. It's fine for visiting alone or with one other person, but it's kind of impossible bring a family of four here without doing just takeout. Service is nothing more than order at the counter and wait. This is a quick grab-and-go taco spot with a window to order/pickup and a couple of tables to stand and eat - works for me. There's tacos, quesadillas (a taco with cheese on it), horchata, and a variety of other items on the menu. I have only ordered the tacos and quesadillas. I love the meats, I love the generous helping of guacamole, I love the sauces available on the side, but I am not crazy about the cold tomato / pico de gallo that almost looks like chunky tomato soup. Service is quick and efficient. Tortillas are made fresh. The people here are helpful No restroom access for patrons, given it's inside their little kitchen area. Parking is in a shared lot that can get quite busy, given the variety of businesses. Some spots are reserved for specific stores. read more

These are legit some of, if not the worst tacos I've had. I ordered a grip of tacos to try these out including tacos, mulitas, quesadillas. Once I got home to take a bite, they were hard as a rock. The tortillas were rock solid! Even after warming them up, and the meat was dry af. Like crazy dry, like I was eating jerky! The best part is, I spent over $40 on tacos, and they didn't bother to include any salsa, limes, or even a napkin. Tried to communicate with woman at front, didn't speak any English, asked to speak to someone who did, which apparently no one there did. Asked to speak to manager hoping to resolve this error. Manger isn't there. Ask for them to call a manager to see if we can resolved this. They refused. The adobada literally had no flavor I had to check myself for Covid because how is this red a$$ meat have no flavor! Must have been food coloring FR! We've driven past this place a lot and there's ways a line... now we know it's because they're slow and NOT actually because the food is good. The lady at the register was a bit stand offish and rude, the food took about 20 minutes which is a long time for a grab and go place. The tacos and quesadillas (which is really just a taco with cheese on it) are tiny for the price you pay, and everything was horribly bland. No taste to anything- the carne asada, the beans, the rice... all bland. We also ordered chips and guacamole, pictured below. The chips (which were shells just left whole) were tasteless and unsalted, the guacamole was unseasoned plain avocado- no salt or lime juice or anything whatsoever. The Carne Asada tacos were tender, juicy, and flavorful, handmade corn tortillas added an authentic touch. At just over $20 for both of us, it was an affordable and tasty meal. The grab-and-go setup was convenient, and the staff brought our food to our table promptly. Parking was easy with dedicated spots for pick up or nearby metered parking, if the lot is too full The ambiance in the morning is relaxed, great for people watching. Saw this place near home for a while, even before they opened... was intrigued because who doesn't love tacos?! I am NOT a fan of Brick and mortar taco stores. They all suck equally. Truck or roadside is the way to go. Visiting this location only confirmed my theory. It's a solid spot. Solid service providing solid food. I went several times to order some tacos or a burrito. Considering how popular tacos are in LA, I would say this is a standard location. The price is a bit higher than average to the point where it's almost at the price of a sit-down restaurant price. There's no indoor seating and the outdoor seats are definitely not something I would pay extra for. Meat selections are pretty common - almost like what you would get at a taco truck. Considering the kitchen space, I would almost expect more, but to each their own. For those that have not been before, it's a part of a strip mall with a busy parking lot. The tacos are the closest I've encountered to my favorite style of taco. The Rosarito Beach and Tijuana tacos. Fatima is an excellent jack-of-all-trades. Great service as a cashier while helping out Nacho (Ignacio) at the grill. Im originally from Rosarito Beach and this place makes me feel at home. Both were completely bland, lacking any seasoning, spice, or real flavor. The meat tasted dry and uninspired, like no effort went into making it. Tacos are supposed to be packed with flavor, but these were the exact opposite. For a place that gets so much hype, it was extremely disappointing. I work near this Sherman Oaks location and frequently would stop by in the mornings for a taco , but I'm sick of their poor service & dirty tables & floor. Many times I have to wait to order even though it's past 8am & they are open. They are short staffed in mornings many times, so I just go eat at Starbucks because I hate waiting for them as they are inside , ignoring the line forming!
