I'm coming back but it's not a 4star. Why? I'm a chilaquiles snob. They didn't ask how I wanted my egg and they made my egg huevo en torta (not usually a fan). They did ask me green or red sauce.the green sauce that I chose was on the sour side. To sour for that type of egg in my opinion. The tortillas in the chilaquiles were soggy. I like them crispy. BUT. THE INGREDIENTS THEMSELVES ARE GOOD. The red sauce is tasty and a perfect spicy! (On the hotter end), and their beans , rice and table chips on the side are good! Casual spot for Mexican food, but the burritos were too salty. I came by because it's close to the Van Nuys bus terminal. It was very convenient to grab a quick meal here before picking someone up at the bus terminal. It wasn't crowded at all on a Monday evening around 7 pm when my friend and I arrived. I ordered a battered fish taco ($4.69) and a Costa Grande burrito with carne asada ($13.69). The fish taco with fried perfectly, but I did find it a bit on the bland side even with the aioli. The burrito was okay, but I found it extremely salty and had trouble eating it because of that. Also, it was a spicier than expected. Portions were big at least, I ate about 2/3 of the burrito and took the remaining 1/3 home. Saw the high reviews and was excited to try, but this place fell short of our expectations. We got several of the shrimp and fish tacos, and the tacos themselves are quite large and unwieldy. I don't think the shrimp or fish tacos were particularly well done relative to other places, the battered fish and shrimp were definitely disappointing to me. We went in about an hour before closing and they said they were takeout only, so we ended up eating in the car which I thought was a bummer. read more

This place is legit, I came here with my wife a few years back. It was so memorable that we bookmarked it, and now we're back living nearby again. Food (5/5): If you eat in (also maybe takeout), they give you warm chips and salsa. I got the grilled shrimp taco and it was delicious. I wasn't terribly hungry so one taco was good enough. My boyfriend got three tacos as he was hungry and it filled him up. He agreed that the shrimp taco out of the three he got was the best. Ambiance (4/5): They have two TVs, which were both playing American football and there were many tables, but we were the only ones there so we got the whole restaurant to ourselves. The rumors are true, this is the best California Burrito in the San Fernando Valley. I ordered this to go but the service was quick and to the point. I asked for a carne recommendation and the cashier had said carnitas, so that's what I got. So thankful that she said that. The restaurant is tucked into this small shopping center but it is the highlight of it. Now, for the main event. In size, this burrito's a little over 7" (had to measure) and has some weight to it. It's slightly toasted and served with tortilla chips, salsa rojo and salsa verde. If you're concerned, they're not spicy but taste amazing (go red). Frankly, I obliterated this burrito (see photos) because I was hungry and it felt disrespectful not to consume this beast in one sitting. For those of you unwilling to go that extra mile, I recommend wrapping this bad boy up in tin foil and enjoying later. Did it fall apart? Graciously towards the end. Did it pack a punch? The sour cream, fries, and guacamole were delicious without the aforementioned salsa's aid. Would I recommend? Yes. I went to the deep, dark ends of the web (Reddit) in search of a burrito to satisfy my craving and this was the best decision I made. First, let me start out by saying that the Baja Fried Fish tacos are HUGE! Had I known the tacos were that big, I would've only ordered one LOL! The tacos are delicious and the salsa is even better! I had a big back moment and ordered the Carne Asada Fries with jack cheese instead of the nacho cheese and without beans to take home. The fries were sooooo good! I asked for the nacho cheese on the side and dipped the fries in the cheese. The restaurant is clean and is located in a small strip mall. One of very good friends said this spot has amazing authentic Mexican food in Van Nuys . So , we stopped on our way to our LA adventure. Came in & was warmly greeted by the cashier with a smile . He suggested a few items & in all honesty everything looked delicious. We ended up getting nachos & a wet burrito and Agua Fresca . Both dishes came out perfect and hot fresh out the kitchen . I can only speak on their breakfast burrito... This place used to have the best breakfast burrito in town, hands-down the fluffiest eggs, the crispiest bacon potatoes with a particular salsa that just tastes amazing but it all went away sadly around the end of 2024. I don't know what happened to the original cook, but he moved on clearly because now the breakfast burrito eggs are crispy like the bacon used to be in the bacon is fluffy and undercooked unfortunately. As far as breakfast burritos, there's probably a thousand better now. I wish you guys would inform the new cook on how to stop burning the eggs and make sure the bacon is crispy. read more

TLDR; burrito tastes good but has too much rice. I order their burrito on doordash and the flavor is good, but there's always too much rice to everything else ratio. Their burritos are big because it's all rice. Again the flavor is good though. Meat is nice not dry and rice is also good. It's just every other bite is a mouthful of rice. The last time I had gone to Costa Grande, I was in middle school, and ordered steak fries (they weren't that great). I'm no longer in middle school, and I no longer eat steak. I wanted to try something new since it had been a while that I had been there, and I love seafood. I decided to try the shrimp nachos because they were the one item that caught my eye (and for $18 too!). Upon receiving them I was amazed by how loaded they were with grilled shrimp, and that very yellow diabetic inducing cheese that just really made it stand out. The seasoning on the shrimp paired so well with the guacamole that they gave me on the side, and it really brought the dish together. I will say that I did have to use the bathroom immediately after eating it BUT, I would go back. Next time I'll try the shrimp fries, less cheese this time. read more

I was really excited to try Costa Grande and what better day than Cinco de Mayo! The location is not the best y'all, it's in the very back of a long strip mall off of Sepulveda so it's easy to miss. Inside, the kitchen is hustling and bustling. Very cool art decks the walls. Cashier was super friendly and hospitable. On to the food! I ordered a little bit of everything because I was excited to taste it all and your girl was hungry! I got a pastor taco, asada taco, shrimp diablo taco, and Baja fish taco. Also HAD to try the hot Cheeto elote. I started with the shrimp and fish tacos and they knocked it out of the park. The shrimp was DEELISH! However the other street tacos I found to be a little underwhelming. The flavor of the pastor and asada was ok, but I found the meat overall to be a somewhat dry. The elote didn't stand out to me either, but is a nice little something different to share as a side. I would give five stars for the shrimp taco alone! Love the red salsa too.
