Recommended! This is a great place to get your cemita fix. I've had several varieties of their cemitas, and I like pollo adobado the best. Each sandwich comes in a huge sesame seed bun and fresh ingredients. You also have an option to get jalapeños or chipotle spread on your sandwich. I always opt for the jalapeños! It is a hefty sandwich that could be shared with another person if you're a light eater. The cost of the sandwich is on the pricier end and they also charge a fee for credit card transactions. But, the sandwiches are worth it. This location does not have any dine in options. It's a to-go spot. They have another location on Van Nuys that has a dining area.

Good/average food, good service. The only thing is they don't have dine-in, so you just place your order & pick it up thru a little window they have. A little sad that the chicken milanesa didn't have much seasoning to it, but i loved the portion sizing on these! Very filling & yummy with fresh avocado.

Cecina Asada with Chipotle - flavor bomb!
    Nathan G.

Just an absolute flavor bomb - the Cecina Asada is satisfying, filling, not greasy, lots of cheese and avocado and meat, and the sesame bun just works. I had the Chipotle option - the smoke chili flavor worked so well with everything else. A few things - this is now a walk up, window service place (at least when I was there), strictly take out, nowhere to sit down. Also, prices are up since a few years ago - the sandwich was $12 out the door. Totally worth it though - you won't be hungry and these things are craveable.

You'll order out of a perfect little window and you'll receive the best meal of your life. Insane flavor, lots of avocado, and a wide range of delicious salsas Choose between jalapeño or chipotle, you can't go wrong

Humongous sandwiches absolutely filled to the brim with meat/veggies/guacamole/cheese. I really loved the pescado and the steak. Super dank

What' a hidden gem! I've gotta start by saying I'm super picky when it comes to Mexican food and am usually disappointed outside of Mexico. It never tastes the same. Not this place!!! The Cemitas taste just like the Cemitas in Puebla, Mexico. Absolute magic.. Service is nice and friendly considering your order through a window. Keep in mind the location is not fancy, but who needs fancy when you've got great food?!?

I had to get use to sipping my margarita like a civilized person, rather than gulping it down. We started with the queso fundido. Too bad it cools so quickly and is so thick. It had a trio of salsas on top. And the chips are excellent. They brought us plenty of refills on chips. We ordered the salsa sampler. Three different salsas in tiny ramekins. All tasty, but usually Mexican restaurants give you salsa and chips for free. We had to spend $18. I had a chile rellano unlike any I have had before. A lot of black beans, a blistered chile and some cojita cheese sprinkled on top. I am used to a chile rellano filled with cheese. It was just okay. My husband had the carne aside. Basically a steak and roasted potatoes. Nice steak, but nothing Mexican about it. The potatoes were ordinary. Our guest ordered AGUACHILE DE CHAYOTE squash, pineapple aguachile, cilantro macho. She wanted a vegetarian option. This was a cold soup. She had no idea what she was getting. I guess we should have asked. All in all the menu is confusing. I have eaten Mexican food throughout LA and travelled extensively in Mexico, and this was all very new to me. They did tell us at the beginning that things were good to share. This would have been a good sharing dish with the chips. It was very unusual. The dessert flan was very tasty with pecans and a crispy churro like garish. We would have like a little more explanation on the menu of what we were ordering. Every item is unexpected and out of the ordinary. Daisy is a good place to go for a taste adventure, good margaritas and a hefty bill.

Lovely spot for Mexican food with fun vibes!…read more I came for Sunday brunch/lunch with some friends. I made a reservation through Yelp a couple days beforehand and there was plenty of availability. The restaurant is located right off Ventura Blvd and has an attached parking garage in the basement which can be accessed via the parking lot behind the restaurant. There were plenty of spots available Sunday afternoon when I came. It's a bit hidden, but there is an elevator from the garage to the top level where the restaurant is located as well. We had two babies in strollers with us, so I requested a table with plenty of space nearby for the strollers. They seated us outside on their covered patio, and indeed, we had plenty of space. I peeked inside and there's also a nice lounge area with a beautiful flower wall as well as a proper dining area. When we arrived, there was a live DJ spinning tunes. I assume he's there during brunch hours, as he left around 3 pm when brunch ended. I started with a frozen lime margarita ($12). It was okay; it felt like it was only half frozen as the ice wasn't blended that well. For my main, I got the famous Anejo carne asada and shrimp plate for $40. Yes it was pricy, but the portion size was also huge! I was starving and somehow managed to finish the plate, but it'd be a great dish to share for two people with small appetites. I really enjoyed it as well. I asked for the steak to be cooked rare, and they didn't overcook it. Each bite was super tender and flavorful and paired well with the rice. Everyone else also enjoyed their dish. One friend got the wet chicken burrito for $15 and it was massive! Another got the veggie fajitas with steak added and really enjoyed her dish as well. Solid food all around. I would love to come back on a weekday and try their happy hour! Sipping on $5 margaritas and $6 sangrias sounds like my idea of a great time!

If you grew up in LA like I did, this was definitely THE spot...and honestly, it still is. The interior is packed with old school charm: dim lighting, warm red and yellow accents, cozy booths, and a dining room that's instantly recognizable. But don't sleep on the outdoor patio either. It's absolutely beautiful, complete with its own bar and plenty of seating for those perfect evenings out. Casa Vega is famous for its margaritas and classic Mexican American comfort food. It's not outright authentic, but it's nostalgic and hasn't changed for decades. During my last visit, I kept it simple with a cheese enchilada, a perfectly medium rare cooked steak taco, and spicy beans and rice. While each item was simple, it was done perfectly. Definitely get the combination so you can try a little bit of everything. Like I said earlier, For me Casa Vega is all about nostalgia. The familiar flavors, the atmosphere, and those feel good vibes that keep people coming back year after year. It's a staple because we all grew up with it so if you're someone here dining for the first time, keep that in mind. Last pro tip: there is $10 valet parking which honestly saves you from trying to find parking on the main boulevard so I would say just go with it.

I've tried to give it a fair shake but I feel like this place caters to the older, mostly affluent crowd who can't handle spice or seasonings of any kind. Growing up in the valley there is a plethora of delicious authentic Mexican food, so it's blatantly obvious when something in the category is just not up to par. I ordered the Chile Verde burrito and it left a lot to be desired, it's almost like they refuse to use salt of any kind? Just completely bland, flavorless. I also asked if they could make it spicy but the waiter let me know they don't have anything in the kitchen that would be spicy besides some jalapeños, which I agreed to. Still, so very very bland and flavorless. Not to be facetious, but you could honestly go to Taco Bell and get better "Mexican" food.... That's how awful it is here. Two stars because the waiter was friendly and the service was decent. Go to Salsa and Beer for a proper Mexican meal, bye.
