Fresh and tasty cemitas! I tried the cecina adobada...deliciously marinated and very flavorful. Paired perfectly with the cool avocado, quesillo, and fresh veggies. Nicely sized as well...the sandwich was large but manageable. I polished it off and felt perfectly sated. My boyfriend enjoyed his cecina asada and his sister selected the classic milanesa. His sister's complaint was that the bread was stiff...not the fluffier cemita roll she's used to at her usual Cemitas Tepeaca spot. I liked the heartier cemita bread. It held the filling well while maintaining a crunchy exterior. The location is a bit far from us, but I want to return and try some of the many other varieties, including the barbacoa. As I walked in, I immediately realized that it was good that I came here to order To Go because there were only like 3 tables. This place is tiny! I thought I thought my booty was gonna be all up in the people's faces at the tables trying to get to the cashier. The menu is so large, so I had a tough time choosing what to order. After going back and forth, I finally decided on the Cemita Milanesa de Res (breaded pan fried thin beef). I thought it was very tasty. This is one of those places that I wish I could visit more frequently. The food, freshness and quality has not changed. As in most instances and food establishments, only the prices have gone up. I still enjoy these mexican sandwiches, which are completely different than the common torta. The bread, the meat, cheese, and other ingredients make this sandwich "cemitas" the best in town and maybe all of LA and I will even say Orange Counties. I have tried other cemitas, however I have to say, most other places do not have very fresh ingredients or do not use the same ingredients like avocado or jalapenos. In any event, I will do my best to come here a little more often since I do plan to be in this area a little more frequency. I highly recommend this place, just know that parking is tough because they share with other businesses, laundry mat and liquor store. Due to the amount of customers, you might also experience a wait and many times they will not answer the phone as they are tending to customers that are present. This $6.00 powerhouse of a sandwich is not only unbelievably good, it's huge (bet you can't eat two). Made with such good stuff, this sandwich rates as one of my favorites in the city. Oozing it's innards from all 360 degrees, I need a beach towel (not napkins) to stay clean. I love it. This dive restaurant, which is actually no more than an indoor Stand in a strip mall, is very good, very cheap, with very nice people runny it and very fast just in case your in a hurry. TL/DR These are the T-1000 of tortas. So big and delicious that even as you attack it with the full force of hunger it just keeps coming back at you and seemingly regenerates itself. The sandwiches ARE THAT GENEROUS IN THEIR FILLING! DAMN SON. That's how I have to start this review. I have often underestimated the love of the humble torta in the past. To me as an open minded eater and lover of Mexican food, tortas for whatever reason never really was on my radar. I think this was just a classic example of not knowing what the fuss was about until you had a good one, and let me tell you this plus provides! OOOOOO LAAAAAAAWD HOW IT PROVIDES! Tortas in my eyes and experience have generally been the type of food that in theory is great but in practice kind of meh. I love a packed sandwich but most places I went to went H.A.M. on stuffing the bread with fillings..including ham.. but it usually ends up in a this giant sloppy mess where everything kind of tastes the same but not in a harmonious delicious way like the best of sandwiches accomplish. It just tasted like a slap ass put together conglomeration of everything a kitchen has to make up for the fact that the ingredients are 1) mediocre 2) cheap 3) combo of one and two. But this place I have to say DEFIES all those previously held beliefs on my end about tortas. First let's talk bread. The bread in many of my past tortas often tasted sort of cheap. Which could be overlooked if the ingredients inside sort of compensate for it, but no usually it just makes the bread soggy and messy. So when I went I ordered the breaded chicken torta with both string cheese and regular cheese (highly recommend paying extra to do so) both chipotle and regular jalepenos, their chalupas, my gf the breaded steak torta, and an orange bang to wash it alllll down with. Both sandwiches were pretty similar in that one is the bovine variety the other the poultry except I believe the breaded steak has a chipotle bbq type sauce. But both were still distinct and chalk full of delicious ingredients. THEY DO NOT SKIMP OUT HERE! Case in point, I gave my gf a bite of my sandwich, and fellows you know when you give a bite to your significant other with all good intentions, and then they somehow take that one bite that rips a HUGE chunk of meat out of the sandwich and its so big they can't sort of nibble it off but end up taking like HALF the meat of your sandwich? And you sit there like... you don't want to be petty or stingy but in your heart you're kind of like..damn you just took half my meat.. and then you make eye contact with them and they even feel like damn I didn't want this much..awkward.. and then you both stare at each other like you know that i know that you know we fucked up.. WELL NOT HERE MY FRIEND! Now you know the above situation especially happens with breaded meets where you are now left with a bunch of breading, but I was soo surprised. My girl took dat bite I looked back at my sandwich and was still good to go. It was like the T-1000 of sandwiches more meat just get regenerating itself. Also they know how to stack the sammie. While it was a little messy and had to literally roll my sleeves up to enjoy this behemoth on a bun, everything stayed nice and tight. My chalupas... OMG fresh, seasoned well, and just crisp as heeeellll without being stale, hard or gross. These are a meal within itself and amazing. GF couldn't even finish her sandwich. Now to be real. After eating it I got instant diarrhea. I mention this not as a knock against this place BUT because even after that I would come here again and again and again. Also it's important to note I don't think it was because of cleanliness or quality of ingredients or any blame on them. 6 inches of pure goodness! I got the cecina adobada with jalapeño and quesillo! The bread is like a bolillo and a cracker in one, so crispy yet so fluffy from the inside. My favorite part of the whole thing are those stacks and stacks of red and green jalapenos and carrots, my mouth is water just thinking about them. To be honest, the cemita is a little too salty for my taste, but that's because most of the ingredients are salty: cecina, cheeses (queso fresco and quesillo), and the picked jalapeños and carrots, so make sure you drink enough water. Yes it is $13 dollars, but you can share it with one more person, as it is hard to even take a bite it so wide. Definitley a sloppy but delicious thing to eat! We decided to come here for lunch based on the reviews here, I've never heard of cemitas before. (I had the bread alone, but never as a sandwich). We ordered the milanesa, the cecina adobada, the asada, and the árabe. I was adventurous and had papalo on mine. The price was a little high until I realized the lady offered two kinds of cheese and added $2.10 to each sandwich. It was good, but for four sandwiches it really adds up. The papalo left a weird taste in my mouth for hours, kinda gross after a while. All in all, we were pleased. If you are dining there, they only have like four booths. The menu on the wall has pictures so it's easy to figure out your options but I was overwhelmed with this being my first time and not knowing what I wanted to try first I ordered the #7 milanesa de res (breaded steak) and hubby ordered the #4 cecina adobada (marinated steak). you have an option to order 1 of 2 different kinds of cheeses or both, although they don't tell you that if you order both, there is an extra charge. The sandwiches were really good, all the flavors worked really well together and the jalapenos weren't too hot. The weird thing is that hubby and I both commented on the fact that we couldn't taste the meat while taking bites of the sandwich. This is my first cemitas poblanas experience and based on the service with the smile and the taste of this regional sandwich I would rate this place five stars. Please don't expect much as far as location and atmosphere as it pretty divey and scary for those that don't go north of Ventura Blvd in the Valley. It is located in your typical Valley corner. I did feel some odd stares from people who saw me eat here and the type of car I drive. There are only three tables here so if there's isn't space, you'll probably have to take your sandwich to-go and eat it in your car. The sandwich: It was so good. From the crunch on the sesame seed bun to the flavors of the milanesa, avocado, bell pepper, panela cheese and veggies piled high, this sandwich was OMG good. I would rather eat this versus any Subway, Quiznos or other chain sandwich any day. At only $4 - $6 per sandwich, I will be eating here more frequently. The people dining here are Latino families and not many others ethnicities in sight during my visit. They have bottled Mexican sodas including Mexican Coke which you now see at the finest dining establishments in Los Angeles. Cemitas are from the Puebla region from Mexico and not found everywhere like the ubiquitous taco or burrito, or bacon wrapped hot dog in Los Angeles so I'll be looking out for other cemitas establishments to taste and review. I tried a traditional cemita with no meat and it was so good I was floored. I had an intimate experience with a sandwich and I'm not ashamed. This place is a gem. I get the Adobado Steak Cemita (#4) nearly every time. The English translation under the sandwich name is "Beef Jerky" but don't be fooled. The meat is tender and delicious. Tons of avocado, ask for the string cheese, jalapeños and chipotle peppers, red onions....yes please. The place is unassuming and homey. Their salsas are both delicious. The red is roasty and dry, and the the green is salty and sweet, and both very liquidy, perfect for pouring all over your sandwich. They women behind the counter are sweet and show no mercy at the grill. I will keep coming back forever. World class sandwiches for $6. I woke up this morning, as I do every day, craving a big ass burrito. I'm currently on vacation for the holidays, so I don't have my usual standbys to rely on for this. I Yelp'd "Mexican" near my location, and this was one of the first places that came up. Looked it up, decided to give this whole "cemitas" thing a shot. I ordered up 2 chicken cemitas, the #6. I asked for one with jalapeños and 1 with chipotles. My total was a few cents over 10 bucks, totally reasonable. I sat down and ate the jalapeño one there. Holy cow, this was one of the best things I have ever put into my mouth. The fresh bread, so crispy yet soft, with so much flavor. The delicious chicken, well marinated and perfectly cooked. Huge chunks of creamy ripe avocado layered below slices of cheese. Pickled onions, cilantro, red jalapeños, and probably some more stuff I couldn't identify. Everything was absolutely perfect, I was left completely elated. I saved the chipotle one for my dad, but unfortunately it was too spicy for him to finish. That was fine, because I was already craving another one! A warning: the chipotle is REALLY spicy, way more than the jalapeño. I loved it, but some of you might not. Saw a cemita place on the food network so I thought I'd try this place, got in and the chalupa's started calling my name so I got that instead. They were pretty tasty the avocados they use are so delicious they taste unlike any I've ever had they're huge and super creamy and they give you a crazy amount with your order. The avocado and spicy salsa made the dish. They were a lil costly but since I now work in the area I'll probably try the cemita's one day. read more

Five years after earmarking this spot as a place to go to, I finally made it. It was worth the wait, and my only regret is not having this in my pocket as a place to get an awesome snack or a quick meal sooner. Their menu is fast but you want to look immediately at the cemitas. We had six different varieties - again, was five years in the making - as well as a taco Arabe. Taco was unfamiliar with any kind of meat that I cannot quite pin down served in an oversized and soft, supple tortilla but was quite delicious - and very disparate from any Mexican food I have tried previously. Very good but the big story are the sandwiches. We tried various varieties of the cheeses and sauces so we could cover as much ground as possible. literally each sandwich was better than the last - the pescado is homemade "fish sticks" served on their wonderful sesame seed roll with a heaping portion of avocado and sliced onions. Heavenly. Even the vegetarian ccemita was delicious as carrots, onions, avocado, red onions, jalapeños, peppers were pouring out of each side - definitely need an abundance of napkins to eat the sandwiches. The pollo milanese was absolutely incredible as we savory do each last bite. Cecina asada and Milanesa de res were probably my two favorite, as the meets were served in drastically different preparations - one breaded and fried, the other in short ribs style pulled striplets of meat. The homemade queso that they put on the sandwiches is a major selling point and both styles of housemates also they offer in the restaurant are awesome. The staff is friendly, the venue is a little squeezed - only three tables - and the pride of Puebla is evident in the clippings and articles on the wall. If you find yourself in the mid Valley or even South Valley, go out of your way to stop by - at six dollars per cemita, you can walk away with a feast for three people for less than $20. read more

So good, my crew and I took a chance after looking at the Yelp reviews. No lies, one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. Great bread, the salsa was nice and hot and they definitely don't skimp on the meat. HUGE sandwich, could easily feed two people. Saw this place on the Eater blog and since it wasn't too far from the casa I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered the cecina asada and the wife had the asada tacos. The torta was super good with tender steak, cilantro, avocado and Oaxacan cheese. But what really brings it home, like most great sandwiches, is the bread. In this case the toasty sesame bun. Really good chew and you get a great sesame flavor which complements the rest of the ingredients nicely. Area is a little seedy but don't let that deter you. After pondering the options I had for linner (my one meal of the day lunch/dinner combined), I decided to grab a co-worker who does not eat red meat down to try one of these sandwiches, since he never gets to taste most of the trucks I go to .... as they tend to be meat serving trucks. This tiny eatery is tucked away between a liquor store and a laundromat in an old, funky looking, mini mall. Inside the small space they somehow crammed a kitchen, a counter and three tables. The space is cramped but it doesn't mater because the food is delicious. Like most of the reviewers I didn't know what a cemita was before I came here. Turns out it's a big sandwich in a large, round, crusty bun. They offer lots of versions all shown in full color on the menu above the counter. I tried the Cemita Asada. It came filled with super fresh vegetables, avocado, slices of salty Mexican cheese, and hot jalapeños. On the bottom of all this was a nice layer of Carne Asada. It was huge & delicious. I could easily have split it with someone but I ate it all instead. My kids didn't want to be experimental, so they had a plate of the avocado tacos (corn soft tacos with beef and avocado) and an order of beef-filled quesadillas.
