Great food truck that I randomly came across in the Valley! Their ingredients are fresh and flavorful. I'm not sure if they have a usual spot but I found them on Sherman Way in front of the Jon's. They also have a decent amount of seating if you wanted to eat there, but we ordered for takeout. We got a variety of items on the menu to try: birria quesadilla, tacos, mulita, and sopes. They make their tortillas and sopes from scratch which you can definitely taste. They were probably the best sopes I've ever had - it was crispy but still soft, and not at all soggy like some places. The birria was super flavorful and the consommé was not too heavy. The mulita was good but a bit too greasy for my taste. I only went into the market real quick with Philip G. to purchase a coke as we waited for our tacos from the truck outside. The market has pretty much all your Spanish/Latin basics: produce, canned goods, drinks etc. As we walked further into the store we noticed that they also have some type of deli/hot food order restaurant in the back, which has about 5-6 tables for dining patrons. I believe they cater and I'm sure they're connected with the taco truck located in front of the store most nights. If their truck isn't parked outside you can go into the store and order the same stuff their truck offers and I'm assuming it would be the same. Now on to the food. I've gotta say this may just be the best taco truck I've had. Ever since Philip G. has been living in the Lake Balboa area we've noticed two trucks on Woodley Ave. and Sherman Way, every time we passed this area we always saw that there was a longer line here as opposed to the other truck but never thought of stopping by. Finally about 3 weeks ago we decided why not try it, hey if there's a line then it must be worth the wait. Not too spicy to the point where it'll ruin your appetite (if your not a big spicy food fan) but just enough. I would order that again, the Asada taco was delicious and tender unlike some other restaurants that had texture similar to stale beef jerky, heated.. I remember being a kid and going with my dad to the carnicería for some Mexican candy( for me) and some tallies( for my dad, obviously). Not exactly sure when the truck came about, but the HOOD loves ya! My pops is always there he might as well get a job. He's the guy in a fresh suit ready to swoop on some young honey.
