Tacote hits the spot for late night eats. Love that you can order ahead to minimize wait. The shrimp quesadilla always slaps, but this time got: - Classic Birria Burrito $15.99 w/ a Side of Consume/ Beef Broth $3.00: while the birria was nice and tender, the beef broth didnt add much to it. My roommate and I decided to give this place a try because it's one of the very few Mexican spots in the area. we came in with high hopes and got disappointed. First red flag, was that there were no prices listed on the truck. Second red flag, was that when the order was placed, they came out to the same total, but each purchase were different items. And the third red flag, the salsa looked watered down. First glance at the food, it looked well, but the smells were distasteful my burrito of cow tongue smelt like fish and my roommates Asada fries smelled like fish as well. We decided to still consume the food that was given to us and within 10 minutes after consuming we both felt very nauseous. Now two hours after consuming the food, we feel very sick. 100% do not recommend this place. read more

I've been here three times now and I don't know what keeps bringing me back because everything here is pretty mid. Well if the price wasn't so expensive and the wait wasn't so long then it would be decent but seriously nothing special. I got... Surf and turf burrito & bowl this time, and it was again, nothing special. It came out a steep $44!!! Compared to the Taco Stand where I would've gotten a surf and turf style burrito for $13 and I know it would be so good. I was disappointed here. The red and green sauce were a little flavorless and didn't add to the dish. Also, the asada was like ground beef texture which was not my favorite. The rice was also dry. This taco truck is pretty pricey depending on what you order. I was in the plaza this truck is parked at and was craving nachos so I checked out this taco truck parked on Reseda in front of Northridge University Center. I saw they had nachos on the truck menu but didn't list the price which I can see why. I asked the lady working the window how much was nachos with asada and she give me the price which I thought was pricey. I asked how much was the nachos without any meat and she said the same price which shocked me because it's just chips and cheese. So I didn't believe it was worth the price here. Came here to try out their salmon and shrimp taco. They have two tables and chairs where you could sit and eat there. Pretty good service, they were fast. First and foremost, solid size taco, two tacos is enough to fill you up, which is why I'm giving it a three star and not a two. Apart from the size of the taco, I'm a bit disappointed. No flavor in either the salmon or shrimp. The guacamole salsa, green, and red salsa no flavor. The chipotle aioli was by far the only thing in the taco that had some flavor and spice and made the taco a bit better . The tortilla was also a flour tortilla , hence the size , if it was a corn tortilla maybe it would've helped with the flavor issue. Perhaps the rest of their food items are better seasoned ? Maybe ? I had the opportunity to take this amazing experience and it was "FIYA". The fries was cooked with a crispiness and they seasoned it . Really disappointed with the food here. I came on a Tuesday after all the social media videos I had seen for them. The lady was friendly, but they had no prices listed on the menu. You had to ask the price for each item. That in itself felt kind of shady to me. They also don't have any Taco Tuesday specials. I ordered 6 tacos, 1 nachos and 1 classic burrito and it came out to $50. I felt that was way too expensive for the portions. I will just stick to the 2 taco trucks I go to for Taco Tuesday. I have been to this taco truck a few times and it has always been a good option. These are good tacos. The service is generally pretty quick as well. I love where they are stationed because there is always a lot of parking, I don't see that ever being an issue here. My friend and I stopped by and ordered 2 tacos de asada and 1 taco al pastor each. They are good tacos but nothing special imo. The tacos are pretty small with what I consider a normal portion of meat for the tortilla size. The asada is lightly seasoned and cooked just about right. The meat texture was soft and missing a light crunchy factor (personal preference). It wasn't dry but it wasn't juicy either. The Al Pastor was decent, it was a bit on the drier side and the flavor doesn't come kicking at you, but it was good with the toppings. As you can see from the picture there is no pineapple in the taco. They used corn tortillas which were soft and an excellent pair to the tacos. You can't go wrong with either the red or green salsa here. Plus the limes they handed us were very juicy. Bonus points because the tacos are not greasy! I would definitely give them another shot and try some of the other items on their menu. If you're considering stopping by, I would recommend giving them a shot and trying it out for yourself. read more

I got the Cali burrito and steak quesadilla. A Cali burrito has fries instead of rice and beans. I am rounding up from 3 1/2 stars. It was just ok for me. I think Casita Taco in Noho has the best steak quesadillas and this one doesn't really compare. I read several reviews that stated the burritos were huge here but it was similar size to everywhere else. I prefer Taco Llama for some reason. I will try their traditional burrito next time. Had a craving for some carne asada fries so of course had to drop by El Tacote and ordered the Loaded Asada fries! Takes a few minutes but they're quick. Food is made to order and well worth it! Danny took my order and was very hospitable and helpful. He introduced me to Boing! beverage. Yes I'm late to the party lol. Never tried it and Danny suggested the guava. I'm not one to leave vendors negative reviews but I absolute feel the need to do so with this truck. Let me start off by saying, they were the only vendor at a boxing event yesterday and were selling burritos and quesadillas for $25! A plate of 4 tacos (no sides with anything btw) was $24! Absolutely outrageous. The worst part was that they were so unprepared they didn't have forks or spoons for anybody. No small cups for your salsas or anything for you to actually enjoy your ridiculously overpriced food. If you ever see this truck at an event make sure you go elsewhere. The food not only will be more affordable but likely taste better. A complete disappointment beyond measure. read more

Nothing like a food truck with awesome tacos! Looking for a spot in the area for a late lunch and there it was. I took a moment to review the menu, layered with several pictures of tacos and tostadas on the windows. The woman was nice taking my order. There are tables and chairs set up for eating on the spot. I've been here many times in one week and once you try it, you'll know why! Important tip: If you pay CASH, they will not charge you tax NOR a cc fee!!! Wish I had known this before I paid with a cc my first time lol. They have 2 foldable tables with 4 chairs each right outside their truck. This is a review for the Asada Tacos. Delivery was fast and efficient. Packaging was neat and clean; however, using a foam plate and foil for take out is not the best option because food will get cold immediately. I put the tacos in the microwave for 10 seconds and they were good to go. The tacos are average. The meat was finely chopped and overseared . The toppings were fresh and delicious. Portions are rather small. They include 3 slices of lemon and salsa with the order which is a plus. The tacos are aesthetically pleasing. Overall, if I were a hungry student looking for something to eat between classes, I would be happy with the $10 meal. I'm a fan of Mexican food the flavors when done right blend so good together. That being said I also love spice so much that when I go to Chinese food places I will eat so much hot mustard till my nose is dripping. When I eat Indian food I go medium heat because there spice are on another level, at Dave's hot chicken I go the highest level just for the burn. But strip it back and you get a pretty good chicken sandwich .That being said I felt like the food was being masked by spices prior to adding any salsa and expected more with there yelp reviews being so good. I guess if you're going to the college and need something to pair with cheap beer and shots then it's a go to. But if your use to eating top notch Mexican food that melts in your mouth then I would reconsider especially if you have a wife that loves Mexican food with flavor and no burn. read more
