I think I found my new hangout spot in Van Nuys. Basketball is huge! It doesn't look this big from the outside. But the inside is deceptively large with lots and lots of seating near the mini mini large screen TVs. There is a bar that serves hard liquor and several outside patios. The food is reasonably priced. Most entrées are under $15. And best of all they are dog friendly. You can actually bring your pooch inside the restaurant where they will offer you a bowl of water for your dog. The manager opened the door for me because I was hesitant to bring him in. I just wanted a bottle of water. But I was made aware that they are very dog friendly and dogs are happily welcome down the inside. They offer breakfast starting at 7:30 AM, which is perfect after a Walker run around the golf course. But they also have our food which is chicken nuggets, french fries, hamburgers, etc.. Someone in the kitchen is a little heavy-handed with the salt. So tell them to take it easy if you are salt sensitive like I am. The toast came with my breakfast and it was burnt. So I sent the salty eggs back with the toast and ask them to redo it. They redid the whole meal for me and it came back perfectly. I will be coming back here with some friends. Had the best birthday celebration at Best Ball! Everyone completely surprised me, and somehow managed to pull off a birthday party that started with a 5K complete with race bibs and a medal at the end! As a runner, that was such a fun and personal touch. From the run to the party, everything was perfect. Thanks to my sister and man for celebrating me like this! Afterward, we headed to Best Ball where we ate, drank, laughed, and spent a couple of hours having a great time. The food was really good, the drinks were flowing, and the atmosphere was fun without feeling overcrowded. There's a full bar and a large restaurant area with plenty of seating, so it was easy for everyone to hang out together. The service here is amazing they took care of us and we had a DJ and a photo booth outside to make it more festive! The babe even brought the cake over the day before and they were so great at keeping it. Whether you're there to golf, celebrate, or just spend time with friends, this place is a great spot. My favorite people, lots of laughs, good food, and a surprise birthday I'll never forget. What more could I ask for? We run here in the dark, daytime and evenings and pass this restaurant all the time we will be coming here more often. Lots of parking out in the front. Service is also really great. We got some wings and fries and they came out fairly quickly, they were super crunchy and delicious! They were buffalo and garlic parm, the garlic parm was amazing. It also seems to be dog friendly. The parking gets really bad, it's a shared lot between the good course and the bar so you should arrive early for your game. They have happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 pm, and a pretty diverse menu for a sports bar. I decided to try their wings, and they had over six flavors to choose from. The happy hour deal is 8 wings for $8. My son got the chicken strips kids' meal ($10). They also have outdoor games to play, such as ping pong and cornhole, which my 5-year-old loved. Looking for a sports bar in the valley, took a chance at this obscure location which was hard to find buried on a small hidden street off the beaten path. Had to make a reservation for 4 people for the Rams-Bears game, and we were sat right in the middle tables near the back, almost touching (and frequently bumped by other patrons) nearby, instead of the more spacious lounge-type 4 seaters that I wanted. The area is deafeningly noisy, stuffy, No A/C. As if a sports bar isn't loud enough, they have a DJ for what reason I don't know blasting music at every opportunity during timeouts and between games...yikes. Super packed inside, but outside seating is very bare and only 1 crappy TV in the corner. Absolute pandemonium inside, dogs, kids everywhere. Love both but just a bizarre scene. Food was passable, nothing more. The asada nachos we were told had beans but didnt come with it, and had a weird liquid white cheese melted and not enough of it to smother the chips. Very expensive too almost 30 bucks! Barely any pico, no guac. Wings are so-so meaty and hot but boring not seasoned. The garlic parm fries are not bad but a pool of oil on the bottom of the basket. The burger seemed to be the best item, I ate a chicken sandwich (fried) it was plain and boring as hell, but not bad. We couldn't make it past halftime it was just so insanely loud and uncomfortable from rubbing seats behind me, can't move vertically. Parking lot completely sold out sharing with the golf course, had to park a few hundred feet away in another small lot, and the icing on the cake as we left some weirdo woman approached the window startling us and asking for money handing out something. Bolted the fuck out, counted our blessings and...see you next lifetime. Did not feel safe walking back to the far-out lot, and another homeless person actually entered the bar and was walking around, barely holding it together to not show his genitals. All these year living in the SFV and this was my first time here. Great sports bar either an amazing atmosphere for football Sundays. They have a good list of beers and cocktails with options to get a bucket or even a tower of beer. Usual pub fare of wings burgers and fries. The onion rings we got were a bit over fried, otherwise the wings, fries and beers were very good. Server was very very friendly and attentive. They also show UFC fights and college football. We've lived close by for past 15 yrs & never knew Best Ball even existed since my wife & I don't golf but I'm so grateful a buddy of mine recommended I have my bday party here last Saturday!! Everything went smoothly with 1st booking our reservation for my 30+ group online for free (was perfect since they were showing the UFC 300 on all of their many TVs & weren't charging a door/cover charge in which all other venues we'd checked out were charging $15-20 per head) & then working directly with the Manager, Alex on the catering package options he'd put together that the one he'd recommended was perfect for our party!! That night was great with Alex, Dom, Kira, Nate, Scott, Tyson, Wesley & Natalie making sure that all of us were well taken care of throughout the whole time we were there, even with how busy they all were with all of the other customers that came in for the big UFC event!! What also was nice is they welcome minors & have video games & foosball that kept the kids in our group entertained. It is inside of the Woodley Golf Course (which is so beautiful btw), so it can be challenging to spot right away. You can also enter from Balboa cutting through Lake Balboa/Anthony C. Beilenson Park before it closes gates at 8pm. During Football season, make sure to make reservations as this place turns into a fun and wild (although packed) party. Look out for Tyson who creates an amazing atmosphere as the host/referee on Football Sundays. The food and drinks are great and fair prices as well.
