This is a fantastic little venue! we had the pleasure of seeing The Toledo Show. We had the best time!

Love love love this place. It's a whole vibe. From the red lighting and comfy booths, to the live music, it exudes sexy. We had the pleasure of listening to Alligator Beach Band. They played a combo of jazz, funk, blues, and r&b. Drinks were flowing, crowd was vibing, energy was flowing. There is a taco cart with 2 dollar tacos in the back if you get hungry. We could've stayed all night! We will be back for the burlesque show on Sunday nights.

This is not a jazz club -- this is a pubic hazard. The music is unsafely loud and I had to step out to buy ear plugs. The band is okay and the door staff was polite and professional, but then the lead singer decided to take a walk on the bar with a lit cigarette, casually dropping ash on my hair, clothes, and blowing smoke all over the place. Then the dancers decided to step on the table, bar, and all other surfaces that they use to serve food and drinks, WITHOUT properly wiping them off afterwards. Unless their dancing shoes are properly disinfected, this is extremely unsanitary. There are plenty of bars with great live music that you can enjoy, this is NOT one of them.

Still a great club. But my review now is based on the past even we attended. Visited again for a burlesque show! Honestly it was poorly coordinated. Even with a reservation and payment for a seat you did not get a great view and they just let guest be in the middle of the bar and booths and it takes away from the show. Not to mention some guest who did not pay for seats were taking up paid seats and then they made a big deal about it. Still haven't had an opportunity to try their food. So that will be my next update review

Where the heck did I go? and how can I get back again! My experience at Harvelle's was definitely a fun one. I normally find myself in Pasadena. I'm a lover of a jazz bar and an older crowd (Pasadena has a few), but I decided on something different and stuck to the Westside. I looked up who was playing at Harvelle's (Blowin Smoke) and decided to give the venue a try. Such a nice crowd. I love a diverse place where people from all walks of life can hang out, mingle and have a great time. It was such a blast and despite it being Santa Monica, there wasn't even a whisper of pretentiousness. Another cute solo date! I felt comfortable and safe at Harvelle's which is mega important as a single woman venturing out on the town. I will definitely put this place in rotation and will swing by here again (also I wanna try the 2.00 tacos in the back of the venue).

Old school since 1931. We came to this dive bar to watch Led Zepagain play some classic rock n roll, it was a 20 bucks cover charge. We arrived at 800pm when the doors opened for the evening. They don't offer beer on tap but the bottled beer prices are between 8 and 9 bucks and they accept credit cards. Great night to watch live music and the place was packed. The taco stand behind the bar looks good but is too overpriced for me.

My husband and I went to Harvelle's for one of their burlesque shows and it exceeded my expectations. This bar has a speakeasy vibe with dim lighting and nice ambiance. They also have Several Small cocktail tables to enjoy the show at and it was very affordable. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp review: "I have…read morerecently been coming to the venue. Really enjoying the music and food. Til I was recently there for the KRS-ONE show and lecture. Great time. Thanks to Keano for the hospitality and laughs. But I noticed that during the lecture, the topics KRS-ONE was talking about was playing out right in front of my eyes. I had seen Keano working security and bar-backing. He wasn't allowed to take food or drink orders, and when I asked why, he said he wasn't "qualified". He seemed to be the only person running food back and forth and other things constantly. The server I didn't even get her name but it was one time the tall blonde girl, and another time was the short light skinned girl. They both didn't seem to want to be working at all. Every time I went there, the servers were just bad. The girl Mya was amazing and friendly. The other 2 both times were very dismissive and rude. Both girls got my order wrong. One time the blonde just didn't bring my food and when confronted she had an attitude towards me like it was my mistake. Luckily Keano came and apologized for their mistakes. It's unfortunate that this place has 1 guy who seems to be doing more work than the rest, but is considered "unqualified" to take orders. The amount of time I've seen both servers waste just standing there or being on their phone while watching others working hard, is the exact example of what the lecture was about. I hope Keano gets compensated properly, and the other 2 girls either gets trained better on how to do their job and come to work with a better attitude, or management needs to find better people. Such a shame for an amazing place to be operating with poor staff and management. They are losing so much money with the people they have as "qualified". Keano was the best for showing us welcome and he made sure we had a great time Thank you

Even had thoughtful, rustic party favors too. Parked across Lincoln, was easy peezy to walk over too. Moody, elegant, intimate cozy, coastal bar vibes. Never knew this was here all these years in Venice! Now we know. Something a lil different than the abbot Kinney tourist fare, or oceanfront dive bar variety. May return shortly and try the Saturday brunch bc why not? Right. We Always enjoy food with live music and the beach nearby. It really doesn't get any better than that, esp in this LA Heatwave. Here's to many more years and more Venice Beach history. Now off we go to an evening of Art Crawl heehe.

I recommend parking at SM Place, or any of the parking lots adjacent to the promenade. Parking near the pier can prove to be a nightmare during the concert times. Getting in is not hard at all. The concert itself was enjoyable. The group playing was great, and expanded my horizons as far as music goes. There were props all over the place, which were great. The lighting could use some improvement, as well as the main band's timing (they were 40 minutes late). But all in all, it was a good time and a good way to end the summer.

More info here: (http://brightbulbideas.com/santamonicapier/twilight/) I first came here for their Salsa Concert. The show started at 7 and was still going strong after 10pm. There were tons of people who showed up to dance. The had a dance floor right on the pier! Overall fun time. Other concerts were just as good. My favorite was, Australia Rocks the Pier. There are many other concerts that are coming up during the summer. Most of them start at 7pm. And the shows usually go on for about two hours. I would suggest that you come early. Find a good spot to sit at. Bring a picnic blanket. A picnic basket...And have a picnic on the pier while watching live music. It doesn't get any better than this. There is also an option to picnic down below at the beach. It's a little darker there. But there are tons of people who go there too. From down there you're able to see the concert on a large jumbo-tron that they have. Parking for this place was pretty easy to find. I usually parked at the parking structure attached to the Santa Monica Place and walked down from there.
