Great locals bar. I go after work at 5 for happy hour and bring my dogs and have met other fun people and their dogs here too. I go early because I am old now and like the happy hour prices :) Peter makes great drinks and the 90s playlist is usually jammin in here, and dogs are allowed, so I've got no complaints. read more

Walking by, you can't miss The Brig--it was absolutely buzzing when my friends and I passed after leaving a nearby nonalcoholic pop-up. We were in the mood for some music and a full bar, so we decided to give it a try. There was a line out front, but it moved pretty quickly. I honestly can't say enough great things about The Brig in Venice! For several months now, my run club, Run Happy Los Angeles, has been gathering here every Tuesday at 6pm, and it's become the highlight of my week. The atmosphere is perfect for post-run fun, and the staff couldn't be friendlier. We love hanging out, enjoying drinks, and sharing some snacks together. The recent addition of hot dogs has been a neat treat. As someone who doesn't drink much, I've been really impressed with their mocktails - they're delicious and always hit the spot! First off, this place has been in my neighborhood for a while so I would think they wouldn't treat their locals badly... but one of your a-hole bartenders decided to tip himself $20 on my friends tab who ordered 2 drinks total. What the f*ck? Second off, this place has stole a friends design from his company that they USED to carry at this bar, and now use a very similar design for their own advertising / menu. What a disgrace. I also laughed seeing their bio says "70s atmosphere" - definitely not. The brig, check your bartenders to make sure they aren't robbing your customers... This review is long overdue but I had a post wedding party at The Brig and it couldn't have gone smoother. Jared was my main contact and was super responsive and extremely helpful. While we didn't ask for anything too crazy they pretty much let us do our thing for a low key wedding party (around 50 people). We were able to reserve solid area of tables (more than expected tbh) - they let us us decorate and bring our own food, as well as they supplied us with bracelets to distinguish our guests since we had an open tab going. Raul was our guy on the day of the party and went above and beyond to keep it smooth - he was always a step ahead and it's obvious he's used to running these type of events. The day went as seamless as possible! There was even another party happening on the same day, but didn't affect ours at all. It was overall a 10/10 experience getting everything planned as well as the actual execution of the day, and so easy. Highly recommend using The Brig for events! read more

This place is ok for a spot to grab beers in Venice. I've only come here with a large group of people and only during the weekdays at night. The bonus here is the large outdoor seating area with picnic tables. They do not serve food here. The beer selection is good but not great and the same with the customer service. The locals brought me here and it did not disappoint. The inside was a fun experience with loud music and a modern atmosphere. The bar had lots of places to stand and a pool table. However, we sat outside because there were lots of picnic tables and heat lamps to keep you warm! Not to mention the many food trucks around (even though we ordered pizza)! Let's keep yelp Real!!! I've been here during the day and in the evening, its a good time once you get your drinks. Real rating would be 4.2/5 because I would come back with more people. Kind of a 70'sish vibe which I dig. Its a spacious bar with options to sit inside and outside, standing or sitting which I appreciate because it gets crowded. You should expect to spend some money here because its in Venice on Abbot Kinney...wish it wasn't that way, but hey. My gripe about the Brig is the service; its either slow or a little unfriendly. I used to love this place, until what happend yesterday. In the last couple of months, I was hanging out their with my group of friends. Hanging out, drinking, playing pool. Enjoying out time. Yesterday, one of my friends was approached by a group of bikers asking him to leave the place ( if not the will start a fight) claiming that my friend was harassing the bartender. At no point during the evening there was an issue with any of the people in the place. Suddenly this happened with threats from the group of biker for violence if my friend would not leave. The interior is mid century modern meets modern dive bar...very clean. The staff is very LA cool...friendly enough but very adept at their trade. Drinks are really fantastic. We had the bourbon punch which was great as were the martinis. Decent wine list and selection of beers...many in a can. Pool table was popping and the outdoor area was very hospitable. Unfortunately, all we were finding was trendy, expensive, scene-y types of places...until we walked into The Brig. We were greeted by the bartender, Julian. Went here on a Sunday night with some friends and our experience started off fine. One security guard named Lamar came up to me at the bar while I was waiting for my drink visibly wasted and was touching my back which made me super uncomfortable. Fast forward 10 minutes and my friends and I are sitting down at a booth and Lamar slides in and joins us, despite us not wanting him to. He was clearly hitting on me and sat so close to me with his arm around my back and his knee pressed up against mine. He made my friends and I super uncomfortable. We all gave the other security guards and bartenders looks to help us out and no one did anything. We were talking to him to be polite and ended up lying about our age and saying we were underage. He told my friend he wanted to take her into the bathroom to show her his penis and said it was super big. Because he believed we were underage and we did not allow him to look at our IDs (even though another security guard did when we walked in) he got visibility agitated, and yelled at us to get out. I have always had good times at the Brig before, but will never go again. Your "head of security" as he said, should NEVER be drunk on the job and should never be hitting on customers and making them uncomfortable. Wish I could give 0 stars. read more

The manager promised several times to follow up the next day but never did. The person they gave my card to ran up charges on it. Sometimes there's a sponsored a event, sometimes it's clean, sometimes it's dirty, sometimes there's a DJ, sometimes there's live music, sometimes I think it's music from someone's phone, sometimes the bouncer is in a good mood, sometimes he's not, sometimes the drinks are okay, sometime the drinks are terrible.... But a few things are always true: 1) there are always college kids / underage guests 2) the line for the bar is always long because the bar tends to be understaffed 3) the drinks are never good 4) If you come early, there's usually not a line 5) It's decent for a huge group where you can create your own vibe. So all in all, I'll only come here when I'm with a group of 10+ people who don't want to be bothered going somewhere actually good that has a line, who also don't want to mingle because the brig is def not somewhere to meet new people, and just want to drink a beer, talk to each other and chill outside - and also leave when it's late and becoming chaotic from the children they let in. read more

The vibe in here on a Sunday is 1990s dance / hip hop music meets some 70s/80s club hits, with some current Drake and the like mixed in. Packed as it is, the bartenders are fast! Mixed Drinks are STRONG... 3 second pours. Craft beers run about $8. Food is on point tooo. Someone next to me got what looked like a fried chicken sandwich, and it smelled delish! Great atmosphere. Went here two weeks ago. The drink menu is fine, the bartenders are fine once you catch their attention, the atmosphere is decent. What brings it down to one star is the bathroom and a complete lack of privacy. While it's true that many American men's rooms have large gaps in stall walls, this does away with the stall completely having the urinal, sink, and toilet in one open room. That all would be completely fine if the men's room door locked, but it doesn't. It doesn't even close completely. To add insult to injury, the door to the men's room has gaps so if you need to use the facilities, it's basically in view of anyone who passes by, especially if someone happens to enter and open the door. It's 2023, y'all. Gone are the 1980's when every restroom had someone doing lines of coke on bar toilet seats. There's no reason for this. The Brig needs to find a general contractor who isn't a minimalist. Even nudists might want to drop a deuce in peace without making eye contact with anyone who happens to walk through that hallway. read more
