The chicken wings tasted fine, but they weren't even tossed with the sauce completely. Some pieces had only a few drops of sauce. None were fully coated. I'm not sure if that's intentional, but I wanted to point it out. 4. Salad was served in a full bowl and we were instructed to toss the salad ourselves. Either the salad should be tossed with the dressing or we should have a bigger bowl? This might just sound nit-picky, so I'll just leave it at that. 5. We ordered one of everything on the late night menu, and we were told that the tuna was sold out. No problem. When the food came out, we had 2 orders of the wings come out. We only ordered one. When we asked, we found out that the server mistakenly put one order of the wings and one order of the wings combo. Honest mistake, no problem. We had everything come out except the kimchi pancake, and when we asked about it, we were told, "oh, that must be sold out too then." Maybe the kitchen had an off night? I even thought possibly it was because we went too late? But we arrived at the restaurant just past 12 and restaurant closes at 2am on a Saturday, and we didn't receive any notice of a last call in the kitchen, so I don't think that was the issue. Ambiance was fine, server was kind - just hard to get past the food. I replied to an email from the restaurant asking about our dining experience with the above mentioned and got zero response, so now I feel like this just needs to be shared to the public. Maybe the generic automated email is also telling to the laziness of the food. I'm sure their actual dinner menu is better, but what's the point if the food isn't consistent across the board? Maybe don't do the late night menu if it's going to be regarded as unimportant. Again, this is my one experience there from just the late night menu. Not sure if i want to give it another try for a while, but one bad experience usually carries more weight than good ones, unfortunately. Lastly, for a "no tipping" policy where they enforce a 20% fee to cover their operations, I should expect much better from the restaurant. Very, very disappointing. Was really hopeful for this restaurant, but here we are. Hope they do better moving forward.

Me, having a membership, thought oh maybe we can stay another hour and have a drink at our favorite place... nope apparently members are only allowed to have fun on Tuesday... so I guess my membership is irrelevant because it's not a Tuesday (when I usually work), not to mention the $500 in bottles I now have to walk around with to find another post show hangout because we were no longer allowed to stay. I would love to be able to spend more at the post show bar but the speakeasy part looses its value if it's limited to even its members.

Our group embraced the requested all-black dress code, and I was a little disappointed that some other guests didn't play along. When a place puts this much effort into creating a particular world, dressing the part really does make the experience more fun. The spirits themselves were excellent. We tasted vodka, whiskey, and rum, and all three were remarkably smooth, interesting, and clearly very high quality. I loved that the tasting was guided rather than just having drinks dropped in front of us. The storytelling and presentation made us pay attention to what we were actually tasting and gave the evening a nice sense of progression. We also happened to be there while comic artist Matt Harley of Marvel fame was sketching, which felt perfectly suited to the setting and made an already unusual night even more memorable. The space is gorgeous: candlelight, artwork, strange little details everywhere, dramatic lighting, beautiful glassware, and even the outdoor fire element. There's so much to look at that you feel like you're discovering something new every time you turn around. Our whole group LOVES Halloween, so this felt like the absolute perfect way to kick off spooky season. It has exactly the kind of dark, mysterious, slightly magical atmosphere we were hoping for without feeling cheesy or gimmicky. We loved the rum so much that we ended up buying a bottle, which also granted us Level 1 membership, so this definitely won't be our only visit. Such a fun choice for a birthday celebration, date night, or a night out with friends when you want something completely different from the usual bar experience. The only reason I give this place one star is because the poop emoji isn't an option. We went with a large group that was assured to get quick entry only to be greeted with downtown night life's version of the Gustapo. Our group was told to arrive no later then 11:30 , seeing as we got there before 11 I figured there would be no issues. The doormen not only shooed us away to different "waiting areas"I was at one point told I would not be allowed in the club simply for asking if I could check into my reservation. I wish i had the doorman's name, but in case management is wondering, the guy with the crappy hand me down suit from men's wearhouse who seems to be going through a mid life crisis is the one. The vip host Jaime was for all intents and purposes very sweet , however she is grossly incompetent and refuses to take any responsibility for the mess that was this club. Not only that, but once we finally gained entry we had to wait 30 minutes to order our bottles and then another 30 to get them while they were "figuring our situation out". The kicker in all of this, is the night was supposed to be an apology on behalf of the club for them cancelling a prior reservation some months ago without any notice. Shout out to the hookah team for being the only professional people in that building. I've never written a yelp review , this place was so bad that it popped my cherry. The club itself is gorgeous and the security is surprisingly really helpful and kind. It's not often you find such an amazing staff working a nightclub. They have two dance floors, one playing hip hop and the other reggaeton. My only complaint about staff was the bartenders pouring a two second liquor pour for $16. I'd give the club 5 star if our experience wasn't so tainted by the collection of people this club attracts. I've been partying in this area for years and the area has gotten severely worse. I wouldn't recommend driving because parking is a nuisance. Plus walking past the dozens of homeless and mentally ill is extremely terrifying on its own. The club was full of ugly men who aggressively attempt pick up women. And even when we tried to shoo these creeps away they'd crawl back and try again. I saw a woman fall on her head and the guy she was supposedly with ran away, forcing me to believe this is one of those spots where men roofie woman. Ladies be careful and watch your drinks!! I'm pretty sure my friend was roofied here because she had two drinks and was the only one who was blacked out. Someone stole our friends phone here and we watched her location travel to skid row that night. Another man took videos of us (holding my friend who could no longer stand straight) while we were making our way out of the club that night. This spot just doesn't feel safe for woman. Came here for a HipHop and Reggae shindig , security and literally EVERY SINGLE CLUB EMPLOYEE was rude as fuck. These motherfuckas bitched about E V E R Y T H I N G do you hear me? Like dead ass everything. I would bring up the race thing but we're not going to speak on the technicalities of discrimination vs racism. These niggas didn't have a smoking section, but they make you need a cigarette (I don't even smoke cigarettes) they was rude as fuck when asking about the drinks like who tf wants to pay minimum 16 dollars for a drink from a rude ass bartender in a weak ass club? Someone in "VIP" was exchanging info with me and a friend the security was basically about to throw us out for even talking to the bitch WHEN SHE SPOKE TO US. The Best Birthday Night Ever at The Reserve! I came to Los Angeles to celebrate my 30th birthday, and some of my friends even flew all the way from Brazil just for this special night, so the expectations were high! And I'm so glad we found The Reserve, because it was the perfect place to celebrate. The vibe was amazing, the music was great, and the staff were incredibly friendly, we felt so welcomed and taken care of the entire night. My friends and enjoyed everything about The Reserve . The 20s theme was clear and done well. 3 story brick building lit by bulbs around lounge and chandelier in staircase. Lots of seating , big bar, large mirrors , silent films projected on walls, shadow animation on wall , burlesque dancers on stage, and a fairy distributing absinthe vodka in tiny glass bottles in a cart. My to go to place here in Downtown LA. I had the best time here with my friends! The venue absolutely stunning, it used to be a bank back in the 1920's very elegant. They have 2 DJ's so you get variety of music. Had a blast at The Reserve. The vibe is dope, music was solid all night, and it's definitely one of the better spots in LA if you want to actually enjoy yourself without the place feeling too packed. This place such a joke had a reservation starting at 10pm, security guys didn't let us in till 10.30 saying nothing is ready and that they preparing the floor. Meanwhile we were waiting group of people where coming out of the bar, and when finally we entered we saw people already been inside. Sucks because of some s..d workers they get negative reviews. The worst part was when one of our party members was sick, one of the bottle girls started hounding us about payment. I accidentally gave her 20 extra dollars (In my drunk mind, 20% of $600 was $20), and she started harassing me for not giving her a larger tip. The only reason I didn't confront the staff about her behavior was that I was more concerned about my sick friend. Based on other Yelp reviews, the bottle girls try to take advantage of drunk people to pocket some extra cash. I would've honestly been fine with giving an accidental 20 since they had to deal with my friend throwing up, if it wasn't for her attitude. The other bottle girl was way nicer; this girl was not present enough to deserve an extra tip. TLDR: 600 bottle service isn't worth it

We were honestly falling asleep waiting for the actual entertainment to begin. The entire night felt chaotic from the moment we arrived. You spend time getting dressed up, planning a date night, driving downtown, and trying to be excited for the experience, only to park in a dark lot with feces and urine in the stairway. It was scary and disgusting. We looked past the parking lot situation because we were excited to enjoy our night out, but unfortunately the experience only got worse from there. The waitress kept pushing us to order more items, which made the whole night feel like a money grab. The food was absolutely embarrassing and nothing like what was advertised in the gallery photos on the website. It honestly felt like it came straight from Costco. Other reviews mentioned food being served on paper plates, and we can confirm that we experienced that too. The slice of pizza was literally Costco pizza. The pizza and snacks were cheap, low-quality, and nowhere near what you would expect for the price. It really makes you wonder how many people feel misled by that kind of advertising. There was also a complete lack of control and management. People who did not pay for reserved seating were hovering nearby, ready to take your seat the second you got up to use the restroom or go to the dance floor. We saw multiple people weasel their way into reserved lounge and table areas on the ground floor. At one point, a couple was even going through someone's fur coat and looked close to taking belongings before the actual couple returned. That alone says a lot about the environment and lack of security. The billing situation made it even worse. The waitress quickly skipped through the itemized receipt, which made it easy to miss that a 20% tip had already been included. We ended up tipping on top of the included gratuity and only realized it afterward. At that point, we felt completely scammed. We spent over $300, and the overall experience and management were absolutely not worth it. To be fair, some of the acts were great and the band was great. Separate from that, everything else was as mentioned. Between the deceptive billing, weak drinks that barely seemed to have alcohol, the delayed start, boring dance lessons, embarrassing food, poor seating control, and lack of management, the whole experience was extremely disappointing. I definitely do not recommend reserving seats, drinking at this event, or buying their food. Eat dinner beforehand and do not worry about arriving on time, because the show does not really start until around 10:30 anyway. We left feeling scammed.

I note this, not to highlight my cool factor as if I was a frat bro in a Florida party school, but more to describe how my experience was fogged by my consumption. This place was definetely a hot spot to hit, but I just will not be able to descrbie everything with speicifc detail, more, broad strokes of a good time. The place is reached by going down a flight of stairs, which feels like one is going to catch the J line in New York. I think I felt this more because of the Spring St sign- a famous stop in NY, NY. As soon, I got there, the goal was to continue the good time and this place allowed that at a reasonable price. They had these can drinks that I really responded and they were only 7 dollars. Ok, I know that saying something is only 7 dollars in this economy can seem out of touch. But a drink in LA most of the time will run you at least 12 to 16 dollars, and I think it is mostly on the 16 side. So finding a 7 dollar drink in a hot spot is refreshing. It was a Suncruiser- a vodka spirit based drink- that was part of their specials for their night. maybe is more expensive on other nights when it is not on special? After the drink Conrand and I stepped into their floor. It was the first time we were there and it is basically a basement game room on whatever it is that Bane takes to make himself go from puny human to muscle-on-muscle-on-muscle villain. There is a lot of pool tables maybe like 5, and I saw ping pong, and other table games. Additionally, instead of a speaker or a recorder- the one's that spin old timey records- there was a band. I took a short video of the band but I could not tell you if this band was good or bad or their name or their style of music. I was partly present, and I just heard the music, I did not appreciate the performers. It happens. So Conrad and I play all the time together. And I saw a guy playing by himself. We quickly introduced oursevles and then we played pool. Here is the thing that I am happy to write about this place. Unline a regular bar with a pool table, where every one knows your name, this place had the opportunity to meet new people. And I enjoyed playing with this guy. He was a new challenge. He had fresh stories. And he offered a view of the world I enjoyed. So this place offers the opportunity to meet new people over a game of pool. If pool is your thing than this place will make you happy an if pool is your way of meeting new folks then this place will make you happy and give you opportunities to find the folks you imagine you need in your life. In the final analysis, I want to go here again, and experience the place more broadly. Not sure if I will write a new Yelp, because even though I bared bone this one, it still gives the primary messages I want to. And to the guy who I played with thanks for having a good time with me, even if it was short. And sometimes, short, can be just enough.

The music was bumping, the crowd was chilling and the venue was perfect. The drinks were pouring and the bites were fulfilling. Here are the details: SOMEWHERE SPECIAL definitely is a unique venue that is underrated. It has a pool and patio area for those that want to be mermaids. There is an enclosed area for ordering and enjoying ADULT LIBATONS, and a cute bistro setting area with several niches to sit and congregate. The view of the city was nice...maybe not wow ..but the environment created by Holiday Kirk made it worth the 75 miles drive to check out the Sade Tribute event. Drinks: drink options were limited but they had the more popular ones available such as an Ole Fashion, margarita and shots. Anything like Midori or amaretto sours were not available. Drinks were about $15-$25, which is expected in the area we were in. Bites: they offered many appetizers and pub options such as charcuterie boards, sandwiches, fries etc enough to share. Parking: there are several options of parking areas and one right next door for $15. Honestly, I cannot say it enough! Holiday Kirk's interpersonal skills and charisma was the soul of the success of this event. Will definitely attend one of his events again.

Here's how my night went: Bella sold the table (as she should), set everything up, and made the executive decision to seat us with Samantha -- which, in hindsight, felt less like a choice and more like a life upgrade. From the second we sat down, Samantha took over in the best way possible. Bottles hitting the table at perfect timing, sparklers going off like we were celebrating something important (we weren't), and somehow making us feel like VIPs even when we were just there for "one drink." And then there's Bella -- who not only got us the table but stayed making sure the vibes were actually worth the money. Think: hype woman and the reason the night never got awkward or boring. Samantha made us look rich, Bella made sure we acted like it. 10/10 experience, 11/10 teamwork, 12/10 chance you'll leave wondering why every night out isn't like this. Ask for Samantha. The staff didn't seem very familiar with the ongoing events, and communication felt lacking. The check-in process also came across as unnecessarily difficult, with some of the staff seeming to take their authority a little too seriously. I was even turned away at the door despite being 18+ for an 18+ event. Since there was no time limit or restriction preventing me from entering, I was eventually allowed in. What stood out even more was that, after reading some of the recent reviews, it appears I'm not the only person who has experienced issues with the bouncers and what comes across as an unnecessarily aggressive or confrontational approach to deciding who gets in. The overall impression is that some of the door staff seem more focused on exercising their authority than creating a welcoming experience for paying guests. My advice: avoid the unnecessary hassle at check-in and walk in confidently like you already know what you're doing. That said, once inside, the venue itself was a lot of fun. Golden Hour Poolside had plenty of space to dance, which made it one of my favorite parts of the night. Lucky Mizu was a bit small for a party venue, but the complimentary drinks for this particular event were a great touch. Mr. Wanderlust was PACKED and definitely hot, but it had a fun energy and was great for dancing. Despite the frustrating check-in experience, I didn't let it ruin my night. The venue has a lot going for it, and I ended up having a great time. Hopefully, Level 8 can improve communication between event organizers and staff and address the concerns surrounding the door staff. The venue itself has a lot of potential, and a smoother, more welcoming check-in experience would make a huge difference.
