Honestly la cita is on a very terrible mindset. It was 1:30 and I was not allowed to use the restroom - while I understand maybe this is policy.. I just spent 290+ dollars here and was never rude. Then the bouncers pushed me out and I was slapped by another guest. You're just la cita. While the music may be fun - have some respect. read more

Phone and wallet stealing!! Even if you're careful people are so sneaky here they will steal things right out of a zipped bag. I'm sure the owners are in on it because it happens to multiple people (including myself) every time I'm there. I was going for a while and didn't have a problem but the past couple months especially it's bad. Fun vibes but not worth the cost to replace your phone. read more

On 04/01/2026 Went to celebrate my birthday to perreo Wednesdays. Why did 3 of my friends get their phones and wallets stolen. It's ridiculous that this is the type of misfortune to experience on what could have been a fun night. Even the DJ said they're stealing phones. We thought it was a joke. Didn't think it was actually happening to my friends. God knows who else got hit. There's no way the Owners or people working there are in on it. read more

At first I thought there was a bunch of drunk females being dumb and leaving their phones around and getting robbed but no they pickpocket people from their purse etc. I had a great time and didn't get robbed but I don't recommend anyone to go because you can't really drink and enjoy yourself. A lot of people got robbed I'll tell you that much. The DJ was literally on the Mic and the first thing I heard when I walked in was everyone turn up try not to get your phones robbed tonight. They took money from purses etc . It's not just phones. You rather be bored then go here. read more

Latino music is great and you can have such a good time here until you realize that someone has stolen your phone. And you don't think it'll be you until it happens to you. Friday April 24th 2026 FOUR phones were stolen and that I know of TWO OUT OF women's purses. Which is a violation of privacy. I understand because the inside is such a cramped and small space it can be hard to surveillance however, service is not proactive in helping guests with these situations. Many said there was nothing they could do and one even told me to "just erase your phone" and the way they had such a quick response made it seem like a phrase they use often. Another girl mentioned to me that it's the people who work there that steal the phones which I feel like that's reaching, but just giving y'all my 2 cents. Maybe a little warning at the door "hey the people who steal phones is here tonight" would be nice. read more

I am giving this place one star but in reality it should be 0. This place needs to be more proactive in setting up cameras and handling their customer service. My phone got stolen on the dance floor and the DJ had to announce for people to stop stealing phones instead of actively having their security put a stop to this! I have read reviews on here and I know for a fact this has happened to MANY people! Do not go to la cita, it's not worth it. read more

My client and I popped in here after a lunch meeting for the first time without really knowing what to expect. We wanted to grab a couple cocktails and discuss our upcoming project. Well, we ended up forgetting about talking work and instead hopped on the dance floor with the most eclectic gathering of Angelinos cutting the rug to Mariachi tunes. I danced with an older Mexican guy who was wearing a non-ironic cowboy hat and boots that looked as if he just came off the ranch, which was a pleasant surprise since we were in the heart of Downtown L.A. Best Happy Hour in DTLA here with Rommel on La Cita patio!! Great spot to watch the Lakers and LA sports teams on the open air patio here! Rommel whips up an amazing drink with awesome service with a smile and some of the best prices this side of the Mississippi! It was $20 per person to get in, which I would not have minded if the music was actually good. There was so much security, yet my friends kept getting harassed by guys. The women's restroom always had a line so my friend tried to quickly use the men's restroom and we ended up getting kicked out for it. I get that it was not the smartest move but a guy kept trying to peak over the stall and the security guard that was kicking us out did nothing about it until I said something. My friends and I just wanted to dance all night but it was difficult with the terrible music, no consistency in music genre and songs being mixed together was awkward. Service was rude and I would not try the food because the place just looked WAY too dirty for me to trust it. It was dark in there but you could still see filth. I almost forgot to mention that my girls and I went on a Saturday. I only gave it one star because there are two bars. read more

Pretty good bar in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Surprisingly large, with a large indoors seating and standing area, as well as a large outdoors seating area. My group arrived around 5:30pm and there was more than enough room for us. I heard the drinks are great. Didn't see any food offerings, though. Recommendable for large groups. read more

There was a short female bouncer who carried herself with a lot of attitude and acted unprofessionally. She was using profanity and being disrespectful toward guests. She didn't remove my group, but she did kick out the group behind us. She needs to go, and I'm sure there's been complaints about her. Also, one of the male bouncers the bald guy with the mustache was trying to start fights outside. The whole security team needs better training. read more

Five star dive? Yup, they have Cumbia on Thursdays for a $10 cover. Divey and surrounded with food options. Tamales in the back or food truck outside. Great place to dance the night away with girlfriends! Or if you want a vibe and a chat hang in the patio outback. Bathroom is clean-ish and not too small. This is my favorite dive in DTLA. I have a rule that any bar that has Xmas lights up year around is a great bar, and def applies here. Cheap drinks, patio, awesome bar top. Don't let the clientele scare you, friendly place. Been coming here for 10 years when in town for work. Can't recommend enough. read more

Came to dance with my sisters and we love this spot. The music was so good and had different varieties of Spanish music so everyone had favorites they heard. The lights and ambiance was really amazing and just made you feel like you were in another world. We didn't stop dancing for three hours straight. The drinks we ordered were really good and I love how there were water dispensers with cold water. Probably saved the bartenders a lot of time and made it easy for everyone else to grab. Once we were ready to leave, right outside was a hot dog cart and a taco truck. We ate so much and just relaxed after the fun night of dancing. Definitely the spot to come and enjoy!!! read more

This has been my go to for dancing the last 20 years and I am sad to say it's over. Especially when DTLA is in a situation. The cover charge and they have you in a parking lot asking for someone to Venmo you. It's happened the last dozen times I came here. Treated like trash. Maybe the continental where they appreciate your business and have great DJs. Also Apple Pay. read more

I visited La Cita for the first time on Valentines weekend and it was packed! We waited approximately an hour to get inside and paid $20 per person cash--but they do have an atm inside if you need it. Inside there's a lot of space for dancing and standing. The drinks were average LA prices, around $20 for a calm drink. I would recommend for a group event, there seemed to be some bachelorettes happening when we were there. One flaw is that the event ended 15 min prior to 2 pm and we couldn't use the restroom up to 30 min before 2 pm. read more

This place was stupid as fuck !!!!! their security needs to get promoted to be a cops my friend had lost her phone and we thought it was outside so we went outside to look for it and the security was being ridiculous. I was showing them that the Phone's location was actually inside and then they were being so rude and ugly getting in my face with their hands. multiple people outside said that they were crazy. All I was doing was just trying to look for a phone that ended up getting stolen. I could've just got it because the location was inside and instead their security wanted to be stupid and gave me a hard time. Don't go to this place too small always crowded overpriced. read more

This weirdo who claims he's the manager didn't let people in because they were holding their drink to throw away in line. He was saying people should know yet there was people right next to the line selling hot dogs and drinks so why not let that be known? He waited till people waited in a 30-45 minute lines and yet the securities were being bribed with people who didn't even have ID's but as soon as this "manager" came they weren't allowing anyone in. we asked for a number or someone to come out and talk to us and he said google it. read more

$20 dollar for entry, plus expensive drinks ! The bartenders pretend they don't see you and only focus on the people that paid before. I waited 20 mins for a drink, avoid this dump at all cost. They love to use the Mexican flag but have ZERO HOSPITALITY ! This establishment is trash !! Mediocre music and the place is so small you'll be bumping into everyone. La cita ???? The older Hispanic lady who works at the bar during the day time is so rude to other women, just a nasty human. She is only nice to men who give her attention. Every time we come to this bar she's angry making women feel uncomfortable. It's time for you to swap her out .. this should not be how you treat patrons ... we are paying for drinks, we can at least be treated with respect. read more

We asked for a receipt to which the waitress stated she couldn't get us. So the night came out to close to $650! And we were served on paper plates, no meal. It's a rip off. The show was nice but we had to be walking around to actually see it. Never doing this again!

I haven't experienced this level of unhinged staff behavior at higher end places so maybe this means going to the hole in the wall neighborhood spots isn't an option anymore. I echo the sentiments of violent security. As I read other reviews before I went, I thought "how can you have no idea why that staff person was awful to you? You must have been involved with something and don't want to share" but tonight I experienced explicit bias and racism to a degree I don't think I've ever experienced in nightlife. Earlier in the night one of their staff broke glass at our table and ofc drinks and glass went everywhere. We eased HIS fears, walked HIM to the bar and consoled HIM. We had a great chat, he was awesome, extremely apologetic, he replaced drinks - all was well. About 20 mins later 2 security guards approached my group about the broken glass, adamant that we have to leave because we broke the glass. It turned into 4+ adult men(security) surrounding us, becoming increasingly unhinged while my whole party stayed seated, *intentionally* not mirroring the violence security was projecting because violent men only get more violent when you mirror their own behaviors. Easy enough problem to resolve we thought - the staff person who broke the glass comes over and explains to security that he broke the glass, not any of us. We think it's over. But NO - security continues on about broken glass and threaten to physically remove us from the premises. That would never be reality(never) and it didn't come to that. Honestly, I say that as a functioning adult human who doesn't live in their world but maybe they actually would - they did seem giddy at the thought of physical assault. We finally get the story out of security and there's another incident in a different part of the club where glass was broken. Me and my group were outside patio table ONLY, we didn't party indoors whatsoever. Managers showed up and apologized but we actually had to continuously give explanations/alibis for a situation that had nothing to do with us. How exactly is this connected to US? No one knew, not even security. Their exact words were "someone said that someone dressed in all black threw glass". Well, okay...there are a lot of ppl in all black, what brought you to US? In fact, one security guard was confident it was a certain person, while another guard was confident it was another, completely different person And oddly there was one security guard who was especially foul, aggressive, violent, and giddy to harass us. I hope he gets the mental services he desperately needs and his mother starts telling him she loves him(unless she has valid reasons not to and based on his behavior, she just might). It would have been comical was it not for men threatening to become physically violent with queer Black & brown femmes. This is a place to either avoid or bring your own security if you *have* to come here. read more

Despite the manager first assuring me that my missing drivers license and credit card would be found and mailed to me. All this changed- rapidly- once I raise the fraudulent charged on my card. Operator CARL LOFGREN ignores the severity of his staff's criminal behavior!! No need to cross the border to get robbed. That is wonderful. The only thing I would probably consider is that added guy I don't know what his name is Oscar Godoy, IG 'DJ.OSKIE'. The lad is easily frazzled especially when a woman has confidence and demure. I have never been treated worse by any other bartender in my life. Quick run down... Went there on halloween night. Inside I bought drinks and tipped well. After that I couldn't get service at all. Finally asked why she was ignoring me. At which then she look at me and walked away. So weird. And it's not like I was being a drunk A-hole. I was drinking Redbull and said the normal please and thank you. I asked the doorman what was up with them. He said "they can be rude sometimes". The bartenders dressed as the Indian and bride of frankinstein were the worst. Note to them. If you don't like people. Maybe you shouldn't get a job serving them. I've been here on a Friday and a few Saturdays. It's not the cleanest place and the patrons vary from hipsters to angry drunken cholos. The last time I was here some random drunkard wanted to fight me out of the blue because he thought I was white. I'm not white I'm Peruvian sir!!! Aside from the negative it's an ok place to hang out with your buds. They don't play hip hop...it's mostly reggae, some kind of urban house and punk rock. I would say it's a great place to practice your dance moves or to feel good about your dance skills as no one here judges. Everyone I've seen here so far moves like they just don't give a hoot...as if they have Billy Idol's "Dancing With Myself" looping in their head. Nevermind the dingdongs that keep losing their phones here, (yes, we all had to learn how to hang on to our belongings when we turned 21 at a nightclub) the staff are some of the best in the business. Seasoned veterans, whether you just want a shot & beer or you want a classic cocktail, they got u covered. They have the witty banter to keep you off your phone and engaged for hours. The atmosphere is nothing short of a time machine. You're literally stepping into L.A.'s cultural history. The vibes make you feel like you walked on a Tarantino movie set. The patio is hands down the best in L.A. Grab a beer at golden hour and watch the downtown skyline change colors. After 9pm the party starts and gets wild late night. Unfortunately, management appears indifferent to these incidents and takes NO ACTION to address the issue. It seems that the only time they might intervene is if the perpetrators begin targeting the business itself--something that may inevitably happen, as wrongdoing has a way of catching up with people. This establishment thrives because of its customers, yet it FAILS to ensure their safety. Even more disappointing is that this place is predominantly frequented by the Hispanic community, meaning those committing these crimes are likely stealing from their own people. La Cita is a really cool / cute little spot for gathering & turning up for the night. Every time I've gone there's always really good music, very diverse, & vibes are always there! I like that there's a different music theme every night so it's a nice change-- from 90s R&B to Cumbia, Reggeton they play it all! The servers are really cool & make delicious drinks with lots of love! I went for my birthday & the bartender named X gave me an agua fresca birthday shot & omg, I could've drank a whole 3 pitchers of that, BOMB! There's an inside area to dance & an outside patio as well which is nice for when it gets too hot inside you can just step out without leaving the facility. One of the best "neighborhood" bars in DTLA. La Cita offers everything from a punk rock "Angry Hour" to the drunken absurdity of "Shitshow Bingo" to superfunky dance parties. I have to applaud Rommel, my favorite bartender in all of Los Angeles, for the amazing service, repartee, and humor over the years. He really made my happy hours happier than they should be. La Cita's ownership is also remarkably responsive: when we reported a bouncer for being inappropriate and unprofessional, the owner not only responded personally to our complaint, but offered us a generous round of drinks on him. La Cita is one of the few surviving downtown dive bars that makes DTLA feel like a home. May it last forever! read more

I've been wanting to check out La Cita for a while, and I finally got the chance during my last visit to Los Angeles. This place did not disappoint! It has a really cute outdoor patio, which is perfect for hanging out before the crowd rolls in. La Cita is known for getting packed on weekend nights, but I got to experience it before it got too crowded and really enjoyed the vibe.
