Smoke and mirrors a little sweet to my taste but recommend. Oaxacan old fashioned never disappoints. Here at least

Went in for drinks and a bite to eat. In early & on a holiday. Sat at the bar and was greeted right away. Ordered drinks and they were spot on. Ordered apps to eat. They were very good. The place was nice and clean. So we'll be back.

*Late post* Ambiance: Love the decor! Very clean, and welcoming. Service: Greeted upon arrival by the nicest hostess. Our waiter came over promptly to take our order. He gave great meal & drink choice, since it was my first time dining in. The food and drinks were amazing! Cooked well, and serve hot! The flatbread beef pizza was to die for, I could've ate a whole one by myself. The salmon was cooked perfectly, as well as the noodles. I cant remember what drink I had, but it gave me a nice lil buzz! Lol. Next time I'm in town, I'll have to stop by for dessert!

Nice vibe in Bellflower area. Takes a bit for the food to come out, but I am assuming because they are making the food fresh. We got the Tomahawk Tuesday because of the deal. It came with mash potatoes w/ mushroom brown gravy and vegetables. The meat was presented well but definitely can use some salt. Not bad for a hang out place.

We went on a Friday evening, the restaurant is nice, good lights, comfortable seating, nice waitress at the bar. Food well seasoned. We liked everything tasted and the drinks too. The restroom is clean but once I entered I noticed the restroom doesn't match the theme of the restaurant, it is like I enter to a gas station restroom (but super clean) I recommend the restaurant to add a better warm taste in it. But we will definitely come back.

The parking can be a little difficult, but that won't keep me away from great food and a great happy hour This has been on my list for a while. They have two locations. One in bellflower and one in Whittier. I've seen pics of their burgers and knew I had to come in Honestly, I passed this place a couple Times. It does creep up on you and is kind of tucked away. Has a really small sign out front It is street parking and then they do have public parking next door but it does fill up with all the other restaurants in the area I came In and our waitress greeted me. She asked if I wanted a table or a booth. I went with the booth option. The booths are HUGE and comfortable. And kind of tucked away from the bar (there was a bunch of TVs playing sports all around and a bunch of people at the bar cheering for a game) They do have plenty seating, but the planner I am made a reservation. Which was a breeze Our awesome waitress brought out water glasses and a huge pitcher of water for the table. Which I loved. Even though we could of refilled it ourselves everytime she passed us she filled our cups I ended up ordering a drink and the bread basket, both from the HH menu while I waited for my girlfriend. The drink was 10 and the bread basket was 5. I really loved the lighting in here as well, it has a really nice atmosphere. Despite all the TVs with sports on it didn't have a sports bar vibe. I saw a lot of people in here dressed up for date night When my girl, Kara arrived we ordered more drinks and we both got the Lava burger. Which is the same size as the full price one for such a good deal on the happy hour menu. We both ordered sides of fries since the lava burger (has bacon, egg and cheese on it. Along with a delicious sauce) only came with a few yucca fries, which we both have never had before. The food was all amazing. It came out extremely fast as well. They have some cool specials during the week. On Tuesday they have a tomahawk special which I am Definitely coming back for. We ended up ordering dessert. Which was a part of their seasonal spring menu (they had some cute spring cocktails on the menu too) it was this delicious chocolate cake. We asked to add ice cream to it It was definitely a great cheat day for the books and I'll definitely come back With family for the tomahawk special P.S- if you are into whisky, then this is your place. I saw a lot of people ordering their whisky flights

I had a really great time with my friends, live music great drinks, and the food was so good. I had the coastal trio. My server was Adrian and he was awesome. With the coastal Oscar filet duo & I replaced the Parmesan rice with mashed potatoes, it costs a little extra but it was well worth it. My favorite part was the lemon beurre blanc sauce on the lobster mmmm so good. This place looks like a nice date night spot as well. A vibe with friends or a lover. Go early for a good park if you have reservations though

This was my second visit to Rokka. I stopped in for a friend's birthday dinner. It was a nice size party and all of the staff were on top of their game. Service was fast and food was delicious. I had the sweet and spicy ones. They were literally perfect. I've also had the pesto pasta which was really good as well. This place is such a little hidden Jewel. I'll definitely be back

This restaurant has pretty high quality meals . It is a bit pricey however so be ready to spend some money . I ordered the pork belly bites and they were very good . FYI they come with fries . I wish the waitress had mentioned that when we ordered the fries right before she brought us the food but you know severs will rarely ever caution you to order less food lol

Driving home from dining in Long Beach, Yelp put this bar on my radar -- an attractive, warm-&-welcoming, dimly-lit bar, within quaint Downtown Bellflower (a first visit to both the restaurant and the city!)! The bartenders were great: friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and appreciative for us stopping in. What a bonus for us that it was Happy Hour (Monday - Friday, 4-6 PM)! Their Baby Rok Sliders (2/$16) were both attractive in presentation and taste. The side dish of Vegetable Medley ($9) off the regular menu was an attractively colorful plate of nicely prepared vegetables. They offer quite an attractive menu, including weekend brunch. Fun, locals vibe! People seated on both sides of us at the bar top made us feel like local regulars too! Eager to return to experience more off their menu.

Randomly tried this place by downtown Bellflower. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean and beautiful. They have an outside seating with heating during the cold weather. Went on a Saturday but not much people. There's a guy playing acoustic guitar. Food is ok, nothing exceptional but overall decent. Our server, Michael was great and attentive. Would recommend this place if you're in the area.

Instant greetings and quickly seated at our reserved table. We're very pleased with how friendly and helpful everyone here was. Our Friday night out with friends and family was perfect. There was not one thing to complain about at all. Stop in and try the bread and butter basket. The filet mignon was sandwich was on point and the coconut shrimp was a table fav!

1 Star - Worst Experience I've Ever Had at a Bar…read more I've been to The Blind Donkey in downtown Long Beach before but what happened last night deserves to be shared. I came here with a friend last night and ordered a blonde beer that tasted completely off -- it genuinely tasted like blue cheese. My friend encouraged me to ask for a replacement since something was clearly wrong with it. When she brought it to the bar, the bartender told her he'd replace it and that it was on the house, but then made her pay for the second drink anyway. If I had known she'd still be charged, I would've just not asked for another drink. When I came up to the bar to clarify why she paid for something he said was comped, the bartender backtracked and said he "didn't mean" that. I asked if they could void the second charge, since this was supposed to be a simple replacement. He kept explaining that he is charging us for this second one because it was not a blonde, it was a white ale. I told him that's fine, but why did he say it was "on the house" and now charging us anyway? He ended up bringing over the manager. The manager was a short, Latino man with a hat on. He was incredibly rude from the moment he arrived explaining the beer was a blonde- which I know what I ordered, but tasted whack. He didn't look at us, didn't listen to anything we were saying, and without asking a single question he grabbed both drinks we paid for and dumped them down the drain. We were stunned -- we paid for both of them and now had nothing. When he came back, I calmly told him we paid for both drinks he just threw out. His response? "Don't expect to come here and get free drinks." Which is wild considering we never asked for anything free -- we were just trying to get the mistaken charge fixed. When I told him he needed to void the drink he dumped, he called security on us. We weren't loud, drunk, or confrontational. Security refused to give us the manager's name, and only one finally whispered "Ken," though at that point it felt like they were just saying anything to get us out the door. I've worked in customer-facing roles before. I understand dive bars aren't known for luxury service, but this wasn't about service -- it was about basic respect, integrity, and not charging customers for drinks you throw away yourself. I'm leaving this review as a Long Beach local, it's saddening to see how a popular bar like The Blind Donkey treats their customers. This was the worst experience I've ever had.

False Advertising and Total Failure of a "Speakeasy"…read more This place should not call itself a speakeasy. According to their website, they are strict about dress code, reservations, and no large parties. None of that was enforced. People arrived wearing sports clothes, tennis shoes, and flip-flops, and a group of more than 10 people was allowed in. That group was loud, drunk, and screaming, completely destroying any speakeasy ambiance. We had a reservation booked one week in advance for 2 tables of six, yet by 8:30 pm, we were told no food was available, despite the bar being almost empty. The water was already on the table when we arrived and tasted strongly of chlorine, with no ice. The waitress was clearly new, untrained, and unprepared. She did not know the menu, didn't know how to take an order properly, and provided no guidance whatsoever. There was one bartender Ricardo, who took over an hour to prepare cocktails and showed no sense of urgency or care. The dramatic cocktail descriptions sounded impressive, but the drinks did not match the descriptions at all. Because of the delays, we were never even able to properly toast or celebrate our friend. The charcuterie board took forever and arrived with an absurd amount of cheese and only six pieces of bread. To make things worse, part of the food we ordered never arrived at all. The live jazz band advertised and promised never showed up. When asked, the staff responded with: "I don't know, they were supposed to be here. I don't have their phone number." That level of disorganization is unacceptable. At the end of the night, we were shocked to receive a check close to $600 for two tables, despite each person only having one cocktail and shared food. The bartender, Ricardo, approached us and said: "Well, sorry, we really tried tonight! It wasn't the best, but we tried." Honestly, that comment made the experience even more frustrating. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if they hadn't "tried."That statement perfectly summarizes the problem -- trying is not enough when everything fails. I would not recommend this place for a speakeasy experience. This is not a speakeasy. It's a poorly run bar hiding behind a concept it does not deliver. Do not recommend.

The staff was inexperienced, dismissive, and unprofessional. Drinks were outrageously overpriced and took forever to arrive. The food was a joke, a $60 charcuterie board made up of cheap grocery store cheese, ham, and crackers that didn't come close to justifying the price. We were served warm water that tasted like chlorine, and the response from staff was literally "I don't know, I just work here." At one point both waitresses vanished, leaving the bartender overwhelmed and everything grinding to a halt. The live jazz band they advertise never showed up, and staff had no explanation or contact info. The so-called dress code was completely ignored, with groups in jeans and sneakers flooding in, turning the place loud, chaotic, and classless. This place delivers nothing it promises. It's not a speakeasy, it's a poorly run bar that shouldn't be in business. Strongly do not recommend, and honestly, I want my money back.

As I went alone, my reservation was for a bar seat, which was cool as I was able to watch the bartenders make lots of very cool shaken and stirred drinks. This place serves absinthe drinks plus absinthe served the traditional way (cold water on sugar cube into the alcohol). I did not try that, but was tempted. My pineapple old fashioned (Retired Old Man was what Sergio (bartender) told me) was very tasty. The Tamerand Marg with mezcal that I tried next was just okay (should have stuck with the whiskey!). The ambience is great, but it is quite dark inside. Use the light under the bar top to read the menu. There is food available. I tried the crabcake and thoroughly enjoyed it! If you go looking for the entrance, look for the "boxes" stacked against the wall and the black bunny handle (next to a hostess station that may/may not be staffed). I'm new to Whittier and still getting a feel for the area, and wow... I'm so glad my friends put me…read moreon to The Vandalist. This place instantly became one of my favorites after just one visit. From the moment you walk in, the whole vibe hits you--the moody, neon-lit ambiance sets the tone perfectly. It feels elevated, a little edgy, and honestly just the kind of spot you want to spend your night at. The music is curated so well. Not too loud, not too mellow--just the right balance where you can vibe, have a conversation, and still feel the energy of the room. You can tell they actually care about the experience, not just throwing a playlist together. Now let's talk about the drinks... because that's really where they shine. Every cocktail feels intentional and crafted with care. You can taste the quality immediately--nothing watered down, nothing basic. They have a really cool mix of classic cocktails and modern twists, and even the familiar drinks feel elevated. It's the kind of place where you want to try something new every round because you trust the bartenders know exactly what they're doing. Service was on point too. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain drinks and made great recommendations, which made the whole experience even better. I came in not knowing what to expect, and left already planning my next visit. If you're in Uptown Whittier and looking for a spot with great energy, amazing cocktails, and a full vibe--The Vandalist is it. Thank me later

As Grand As it gets…read more I've been stopping in to Seven Grand for well over a decade now O.O and I still love this top notch whiskey bar lounge in Downtown Los Angeles. From fun nights out, special occasions, whiskey tastings, exploring the speakeasy... playing some pool, enjoying libations, taking in live music, perfect outings on the patio, the occasional cigar. So many great memories and experiences created here including some awesome date days with my other half. If stopping in for the first time you'll discover S.G. on 7th and Grand Avenue with a door person usually always at the bottom of the staircase just outside of the restaurant/cocktail bar Zaya (which has been many incarnations including Bar CDMX, V and Mas Malo). Provide them with a valid ID, as anybody over 21 should have a valid form of identification on them at all times, not just for driving or access to 21+ events or establishments, but for safety. And Seven Grand cares about everyone and their safety. They value their staff as much as their customers. And it shows in every way from thoughtful space in all directions, great pool tables, a whiskey, bourbon and scotch curated cocktail menu, even some good brew/beer. Awesome hallways with cabinet lockers, the cleanest restrooms, great dim dark warm lighting, fun fixtures and true DTLA vibes that feel old timey yet also very modern. Seven Grand is open to all and all are welcome. Stellar daily happy hour 4pm to 8pm. I love a good $10 Toki Highball at 5pm, but you can't go wrong with their classic old fashion also. All the bartenders are incredible as well as personable. S Grand is open every day from 4pm until 2am. Loads of lots close by as well as the Metro station at 7th and Metro. Though the trains currently stop just a little after midnight. Rideshare is also your friend, which now includes Waymo in the area. Discover Seven Grand also in San Diego, Austin or Denver. If planning an event you inquire with Stephen via email for personal parties, events with a budget and even corporate parties. They're very accommodating with a good amount of notice. When we had my boyfriend's birthday here they reserved a table for us and set us up with everything we needed. Thinking of having my next birthday here myself both at Seven Grand and Bar Jackalope (their hidden speakeasy). Support your awesome LA Whiskey Bar!
