Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed by XAVIER who is also a manager and he is SUPER COOL! Came here for apps and drinks before attending a comedy show at The Stand up and so glad I did. Natalie was our server and she was awesome! Natalie had such a welcoming cool vibe just how I'd like every waitress and waiter to be. When I come back I'm asking to sit where she's serving. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. I ordered 3 Eastside drinks and all of them were fantastic! We also ordered the Brussels sprouts and bone marrow and wow wow wow delicious. I definitely recommend ordering the apps we ordered and the Eastside drink. My son ordered the Blood orange margarita and he loved it so much he ordered another! BEWARE if you come eat here and pay with card. Make sure to take a picture of your receipt including tip. I came for brunch this past weekend and while I normally don't take pictures of my receipts, best believe I will from now on. My $14 tip was not enough they decided to add another $6. THIS IS FRAUD and I will be disputing this with my bank since I only agreed to pay $94.67 not $100.67. I thought it was strange that none of the receipts they gave me had a signature line, I still signed it. 2 different waitresses served us, Marzjele and Natalie/Natalia. I will be filing a claim with the FTC in the event that this is a reoccurring trend that others have hopefully reported. I went to speak with a GM however there were none available. I was disappointed to hear that they were all aware of this upsetting issue since the morning and nobody bothered to reply to my inquiry which was left on their website. This included my email and phone number. As of today I have yet to hear from a GM or the owners who per the young lady I spoke with yesterday would be very embarrassed to hear what is going on in their establishment. Love the vibe and ambiance. Typically visit Rokka on weeknights so never an issue getting a table, not sure what business levels are like on the weekend and if you need a reservation. We stopped in one night because we were utilizing the EV chargers by the bank and wanted to grab a bite and it has now become a regular spot we enjoy. The restroom is clean but once I entered I noticed the restroom doesn't match the theme of the restaurant, it is like I enter to a gas station restroom (but super clean) I recommend the restaurant to add a better warm taste in it. The parking can be a little difficult, but that won't keep me away from great food and a great happy hour This has been on my list for a while. They have two locations. One in bellflower and one in Whittier. I've seen pics of their burgers and knew I had to come in Honestly, I passed this place a couple Times. It does creep up on you and is kind of tucked away. Has a really small sign out front It is street parking and then they do have public parking next door but it does fill up with all the other restaurants in the area I came In and our waitress greeted me. She asked if I wanted a table or a booth. I went with the booth option. The booths are HUGE and comfortable. And kind of tucked away from the bar (there was a bunch of TVs playing sports all around and a bunch of people at the bar cheering for a game) They do have plenty seating, but the planner I am made a reservation. Which was a breeze Our awesome waitress brought out water glasses and a huge pitcher of water for the table. Which I loved. Even though we could of refilled it ourselves everytime she passed us she filled our cups I ended up ordering a drink and the bread basket, both from the HH menu while I waited for my girlfriend. The drink was 10 and the bread basket was 5. I really loved the lighting in here as well, it has a really nice atmosphere. Despite all the TVs with sports on it didn't have a sports bar vibe. I saw a lot of people in here dressed up for date night When my girl, Kara arrived we ordered more drinks and we both got the Lava burger. Which is the same size as the full price one for such a good deal on the happy hour menu. We both ordered sides of fries since the lava burger (has bacon, egg and cheese on it. Along with a delicious sauce) only came with a few yucca fries, which we both have never had before. The food was all amazing. It came out extremely fast as well. They have some cool specials during the week. On Tuesday they have a tomahawk special which I am Definitely coming back for. We ended up ordering dessert. We liked this area and love to find a new place to eat. It was a Thursday night and we wanted to try a new place. Another highly recommended place on Yelp. Parking is in a local lot at the end of the block. Depends on which day of the week you go as whether you will find a spot. We walked in and got a table immediately. No reservations needed for Thursday night. The drinks were ordered were top notch. Best old fashion around! I tried a different drink and it was well mixed. We ordered sliders for an appetizer. There were 3 and they werent bad. Our meals were ordered and they came out hot and tasty. I guess my only complaint would be the prices. It was pretty expensive as each slider we got for an appetizer averaged $8 each. The dinners were small and pricey too. This place is nice. Would I go back? Driving home from dining in Long Beach, Yelp put this bar on my radar -- an attractive, warm-&-welcoming, dimly-lit bar, within quaint Downtown Bellflower (a first visit to both the restaurant and the city!)! Rokka is somewhat tucked away on the southeast corner of Bellflower Blvd and Belmont St. If you aren't looking for it, you may miss it, especially during the day. My husband and I drove past it one evening a couple weeks ago. The amber colored lighting caught our eye so we stopped in. As soon as we entered, we were impressed. The décor and lighting are very attractive. It has a nice bar area, and we were lucky to get the last two seats. Restaurant is clean, seating is comfortable, staff is very courteous, friendly, and professional. Adrian was our bartender and I can't say enough good things about him. He was very helpful with food and drink recommendations. We missed happy hour (ends at 6:00), but it was Tomahawk Tuesday. $85 (regularly $165) for a tomahawk and two sides. I'm not a big red meat person, but my husband is so we went with the special. We chose garlic mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. The meal includes mushroom sauce. All of it was DELICIOUS! The steak, which is carved tableside, was perfectly cooked, potatoes were well seasoned with just a hint of garlic flavor, mushroom sauce was perfect on either the steak or potatoes. Vegetables were carrots, asparagus, and broccolini, still had a slight crisp to them and were delicately seasoned so you could taste the freshness of the vegetables. While we did finish the potatoes, we had 3-4 slices of steak and a few vegetables to take home. Our cocktails were the Rokka New Fashioned (slightly sweet), El Padrino's Old Fashioned, and Blood Orange Margarita. All were smooth and delicious! You can't go wrong with any of them. My husband has a sweet tooth so we ordered the Tiramisu. It was the only item that was a bit disappointing. It was good, but dry so compared to the amazing meal and cocktails we'd just had, it was just ok. The beautiful décor, excellent staff, and delicious food gives diners the sense of being in a downtown restaurant in LA, SF, NY, etc. Rokka is a gem in Bellflower. It isn't inexpensive, but not crazy expensive like restaurants in metropolitan cities. When you consider the ambiance, the quality of service and food, it is worth it. Love this place but tried some new things so had to share my love. We destroyed happy hour tonight! We got the cauliflower, coconut shrimp, calamari steak and lava burger all from happy hour so great deal. Added a side of yucca fries off regular menu because I love them. We got the Citrus Glazed Cauliflower with a citrus sriracha sauce and walnuts. It was only $8 on happy hour! Great for the price, I do wish they were a bit more pan seared and browned. The flavor was great but some texture and searing would it over the top. Coconut shrimp were great! Whatever was their house glaze dipping sauce was sweet and a nice compliment but actually liked them with the house aioli served with the calamari event better. Lava burger comes with grilled onions, cheese, bacon and an egg. My husband ordered this and doesn't a loose egg so ordered it over hard and it was still pretty amazing. Huge this patty with a great flavor, almost felt house round considering their steak cuts because it was richer than a standard ground chuck. Bun had a great rich buttery flavor, would like it toasted a bit more if it had been served with an over easy egg as intended, just so it would hold up but it was perfect for his version. I can't recall the dessert name, it was like a mudslide ice cream cake. Oreo cookie crust, coffee and chocolate ice cream layers. It was exactly as described and delicious. What always makes this place is the environment, from the manager, to the bartender, to our server (Madi tonight) the experience is unique and welcoming. They provide suggestions and even followed up before happy hour ended so we could peer another round. Can't recommend it enough and suggest the before 6 arrival to take advantage of their happy hour. We will be back for Tomahawk Tuesday for sure! Love the new addition of the adjustable table light. I have a feeling this will be our favorite neighborhood bar/restaurant because my husband and I went twice in a week. We walked in and it was pretty empty (both times). Good for us because that means personal and attentive service. We sat at the bar both times and had amazing service, but I will say that service is slow because they appear to be understaffed. We tried a few of their crafted cocktails: Oaxacan Fashioned, Blood Orange Margarita, Whiskey Sour, and Penicillin. Our favorite were all except the Blood Orange Margarita. Too sweet and not enough of alcohol (didn't taste any alcohol really). The Oaxacan Fashioned will probably be what I order every time. I love me a good old Mezcal drank. As far as food, we went during happy hour and ordered just about everything on the menu (don't you be over there reading this judging us lol): Sweet & Spicy wings, coconut shrimp, short rib sliders, yucca fries, cauliflower, and a few others that I can't remember and forgot to take a pic of. Our next visit, I had the lava burger. Hands down the best burger I've had in a very long time- beef burger with fried egg, bacon, garlic aioli, and cheese. My husband and I went to the Sunday Brunch at 10:30. The server we had was a delight. She was tentatively and explained the questions we had. The food was very good and we enjoyed it very much. The restaurant it self was very inviting. It was very clean and the music was set to the right volume where you could hold a conversation without having to be load. The only semi-negative comment I would say would be that we went early enough after church, that we thought we would beat the crowd. We were correct, there was only 2 other tables when we got there. But one of the tables was extremely loud and a great deal of profanity came from the table. We understood that it is a bar and grill, and that the table was drinking, but to come to a brunch at 10:30 am, we thought that they shiuld have been asked to lower the volume slightly. The drink menu caters to all tastes, whether you prefer your whiskey neat, on the rocks, or in a creatively concocted cocktail. We ordered two drinks: Pain Killer Barrel (aged house blended Caribbean rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, coconut cream, fresh nut meg) and The Gold Rush (Evan Williams bourbon, lemon juice, honey). Both drinks were heavily crafted. My friend said their Pain Killer was just the right balance of sweetness and bitterness. I really wanted to order their Old Fashion but I was 'good' after one drink since I was driving. While drinking, we decided to order their Artisan Breadbasket (German Pretzel * French Brioche * Asiago Cheese * Walnut Cranberry * Ciabata Roll. Served with Lemon Butter) to soak up the whiskey we were consuming which did the trick. In short, Rokka Whiskey Bar offers an exceptional drinking experience.
