Olive Restobar is located at the Promenade next to Kaiser in between Bellflower and Lakewood (SR 19). They have a broad menu that includes meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. The hostess was accommodating and Monica smashed it out of the park with her attentive service. I ordered a Pomegranate Iced Tea, Salmon Ceviche, and Lamb Shank. The tea was lightly sweetened as requested and Salmon Ceviche came with a heaping portion. I was nearly full after only having ceviche. The Lamb Shank was exceptionally tender and not over-salted. The potatoes were delicious & creamy, I just wish it came with veggies. It's one of the best shanks I've ever had. I was near the bar area and able to watch the NFL during my meal. We went to The Olive Restobar on Tuesday, and our waiter, JJ, was absolutely amazing! From the moment we sat down, he provided such great customer service and made our lunch date extra special. We asked JJ if he had any recommendations, and he suggested the Olive Kabob Platter with chicken and grilled filet mignon kabobs. My husband and I both loved it--it was delicious! It was my first time visiting Olive Restobar. I went with my partner and we were seated quite quickly for a Saturday afternoon. I really like the atmosphere of the restaurant. It's a chic upscale-casual with a lively bar area. We ordered a handful of different items. For our appetizers, we got the Sweet and Spicy Shrimp and the Cold Mezza. The shrimps were jumbo shrimp in a spicy honey that was super flavorful. The Cold Mezza consists of hummus, spicy hummus, loaded labneh and yogurt & cucumber. I love that they serve fresh fluffy airy pita bread to the table so you can dip it into the different spreads. Labneh has a strong flavor similar to cream; it is a creamy tangy Middle Eastern strained yogurt. I love all the different spreads, especially the spicy hummus. For our mains, we ordered the Olive Lamb Shank which was absolutely delicious. They braised the lamb in a red wine and herbs and served with a roasted garlic mash. It is a very rich and flavorful dish. We also ordered the King's Lunch. This is a show-stopper. Ribeye steak kabob grilled medium rare with peppers and onions. It is served with a classic chimichurri and a side of Mediterranean salad. The ribeye is a melt-in-your-mouth tender and super juicy. It's got a rich and smoky flavor and tastes great with the chimichurri. This is a must-order item! The last 2 things we ordered were the Marscapone Tiramisu and the Pistachio Ricotta Cheesecake. The tiramisu is a classic coffee-forward dessert that melds both the coffee and smooth marscapone cheese cream. It is very airy and light. The Pistachio Ricotta Cheesecake was our favorite. It has multiple layers including a smooth ricotta cream and flavorful pistachio cream. There are layers of sponge cake and it's also topped with crushed pistachio which adds to the whole dessert. It's fluffy, airy and not too sweet. Both items are house-made Italian-inspired desserts. A wonderful experience at the Olive Restobar. Our server, Brooke, was lovely. I come here all the time. Food is delicious. Unfortunately yesterday, my sister and I came and we ordered tequila sodas. Our server recommended us a tequila without telling us about the extreme up charge. The bill comes and we are now paying $25 each for a tequila soda. To me it's just sneaky and unethical to do this if you're not communicating that there's an up charge of this extent. We tried a variety of dishes, and every single one exceeded my expectations. I was literally doing a happy dance after every bite! We started with the hummus with meat, and wow it was delish. The hummus was so creamy, rich, and full of flavor. Next, we ordered the hot mezza sampler, and the kibbi and cheese rolls were definite standouts. They're an absolute must-try! For our entrées, we had the Kings Kabob and the King & Queen platter. The steak was perfectly seasoned and grilled, while the chicken was incredibly juicy and packed with flavor. The platter also came with French fries that were perfectly crispy. I loved that there was a mix of thinner fries and larger, potato-style pieces & it added a nice variety. We also tried the gyro plate, which was another delicious choice. To finish, we ordered the crème brûlée, affogato, and their chocolate dessert. Every dessert was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Honestly, every single thing we ordered was worth it. We started off with the strawberry mint cooler and mango sparkling soda. The strawberry mint cooler was my favorite out of the two. It was refreshing, had chunks of strawberry bits inside and was sweet but tart. It was perfect for the warm weather we have been having. The mango sparkling soda was light but refreshing as well. We ordered 3 different appetizers. The mezza sampler came with 4 different dips which included hummus, spicy hummus, loaded labneh and yogurt and cucumber. They were all full of flavor and made fresh. The mint gave the labneh and yogurt a fresh taste. The spicy potatoes were thin and crispy. The deviled filet mignon was tender and the mango chutney paired well with the meat. The Olive kabob platter came with 2 kabobs of your choosing. We got the filet mignon and salmon. Both had a nice smokey flavor. The surf and turf had these delicious orange mashed potatoes that were super garlicky. The orange is because the restaurant uses chipotle butter. The shrimps were massive and meaty. The ribeye was cooked to perfection. It was lean with some fatty pieces. We finished our meal with the chocolate croissant bread pudding and pistachio cheesecake. But all of these details pale in comparison to the human beings I encountered during My birthday adventure slash visit: Millie, Marco, JJ - especially You, JJ - Jalene, and other anonymous but still friendly faces who connected with Me, wished Me happy birthday (I see You, Isabel & Hector, Cindy, and You too, Art!) and a very, very special shout-out to Arial, Jose & Miguel who serenaded Me in two languages: a trio of Musicians that never lost their joy (despite being forced to compete with all the football noise; tbh I would have been perfectly fine with all the TVs being shut off but I 'get' it, from a 'doing business' perspective). I don't know if it was worth bringing up though, so I didn't. I did order a family meal that was supposed to feed 4-6 people, believe me it was meant for maybe 6-10 people. Tender cubed lamb, beef and chicken plus kefta and shawarma - chicken and beef, plus half couscous half pilaf and more salad. It was a lot of food for a small group of us at home. Attentive service at beginning but needed to flag down our waiter as lunch time got busier. Servers are efficient but could be a tad unsocial, it's so busy after all.
