We started to have waffles, strawberry pancakes, chocolate crepes, many mexican cuisines including tacos, enchiladas, crab salad, shrimp salad, sausages, potatoes, beans, rice, and fried chickens...and fruits, flan, and more desserts. Soooo good! Very organized, fresh, yummy...everything. I got the magarita w lime for $12.95 and other girls got mimosa drinks. We tried the Sunday brunch and were immediately impressed that it wasn't busy and we were seated right away. The setup looked great, with multiple stations and a wide variety of options. Unfortunately, the food quality didn't match the presentation. Most of the dishes were only lukewarm at best, the burners didn't seem to keep anything hot. The taco station was especially disappointing; the carnitas, beef, and chorizo were all sitting in excessive oil, which made them unappetizing. Draining the fat would make a big difference and show more care in what's being served. The fresh handmade tortillas were a highlight, but the pancakes and waffles were also lukewarm and could have been much better. The flan was not prepared correctly, was overly soft and questionable in texture. The enchiladas had good flavor, cheesy and well-filled with beef, but again, they were only lukewarm. On a positive note, the ceviche station was well done, with four fresh options kept properly chilled on ice. Service was great, servers were attentive and friendly, and the agua fresca de jamaica was refreshing. However, both my husband and I ended up getting sick afterward, which is very concerning. Final verdict 2.5 stars: we won't be returning. Proper food temperature and safety are critical. There is free parking available in the back. read more

I came on a random weekday lunch and it was pretty quiet. The service was a little lacking, as they didn't come refill water often. The food was quite good though! I really enjoyed my Fajitas plate. If I could rate this place zero stars, I absolutely would. This is the second time I've visited this establishment, and once again the service was completely subpar. The first time I brushed it off because I was with friends and didn't want to make a scene. This time I was alone, and the experience was just as bad--so bad that I ended up leaving with nothing more than a complimentary drink instead of a proper meal. Let's be honest about something: the energy here doesn't feel welcoming at all. The racism isn't subtle--it's loud. You can feel it in the way you're treated compared to others around you. And another thing... I have never in my life been to a Mexican restaurant where you have to explicitly request chips and salsa because the staff claims they "don't want to waste food." That makes absolutely no sense. A simple solution would be to ask customers what they want instead of creating an awkward experience. Bellflower location... yeah, that explains a lot. Maybe try moving this same operation to Beverly Hills and see how long that attitude lasts. And just to be clear--I will be back. Not because the service was good, but because no one gets to make me feel uncomfortable in a place open to the public. No one can move me. So here's some advice: get your establishment together ASAP. She liked the Taco bar, she took lots of toppings including salsa, jalapeño pickles, carrot pickles, cucumbers, chopped onions, lots of chopped cilantro. Unlimited.... First, soft Taco was good, tiny size. We both liked the spicy salsa. Second, my crunchy Taco plate, only 2 tacos w rice, beans. I loved the Spanish rice. It was great. I can come for the rice only. We had a large party and thankful they can accommodate us on a Sunday afternoon. We started with margarita pitchers. I find the cucumber margarita refreshing and sweet. It seemed like they were able to serve all the taco orders at the same time. However, the lomo saltado took the longest to prepare. Unfortunately, it was a miss and not your typical Peruvian dish. It's a bit more tangy than I'm used to and the fries were soggy. I ordered the ribeye taco, where the ribeye is cooked well and not tender. While ordering, he recommended this pink girly alcoholic drink to me, which tasted like strawberries, and it was delicious! While waiting for our food, we were eating chips and salsa that beforehand, and it was really good, so we had to get a second round of it. My boyfriend ordered this blood orange alcoholic drink, and he loved it so much that he got two as well! As for food i ordered the blackened rib eye steak, and it was DELICIOUS. I got medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. The side dishes that came with it were very good. My boyfriend ordered the Parillada, which comes with shrimp, chicken, beef, sausage, and a few side dishes as well, like rice, beans, veggies, salsa, and tortillas (the tortillas were nice and warm). We were in Downey for an event and decided to stop by Kalaveras Bellflower for a drink and bite to eat afterwards. There is a good sized parking lot located behind the restaurant. The ceilings are black, and it is lit a little dimly including some black lights which really makes the neon signs and bright paint colors inside pop. There are all booths towards the rear entrance, and a mix of tables and booths in front. We sat at a table in front, and over ten minutes had gone by and none of the servers had acknowledged us yet. They just kept walking by, and I finally had to flag somebody down to get menus. We started out with a few cocktails and chips and salsa with an order of guacamole. The chips were good, and the salsa had a smoky flavor. The guacamole was good, but it had large cubes of avocado in it. We both prefer the avocado mashed up well, and we wouldn't order the guacamole again. I had the Jarrito Loko cocktail (Lunazul Reposado, lime, agave, watermelon puree, Jarrito's soda, $14). It comes in a nicely decorated mug with a partial Tajin rim. It had a great watermelon flavor that wasn't overly sweet, and reminded me of a watermelon Jolly Rancher. It was very refreshing, and I didn't notice any carbonation from the soda. It was the best watermelon margarita I've had in a while. She had the El Chamuco cocktail (Los Javis Mezcal, lime, agave, passion fruit, mango puree, $15). - It was mezcal forward and very smoky to me, but the passion fruit and mango flavors help tone it down a bit. She really enjoyed it. I originally wanted to order the Enchiladas de Camaron, but the server informed me that they were out of shrimp. Instead, I ordered the Carne Asada plate ($28). The cut of meat was large and marinated. It had good flavor and was filling. It came with the same chunky guacamole. She wasn't very hungry, and just had the Taquitos Doridos appetizer ($7.99) which she enjoyed. So, why only three stars? We weren't aware, but Sunday evening is Banda Night with live music. After we got our drinks and chips and guacamole, the band started playing and it was insanely loud. Ordering our entrees was almost impossible, and I had to scream at the server so she could hear me. At this point, all we could do is sit and wait for our food because conversation was not an option. We couldn't wait to finish eating and leave. Service got off to a slow start initially, but was ok overall. We enjoyed the food and drinks, but the extremely loud music killed the dinner for us. read more

If I could give it negative stars I would. Never in my life have I been insulted while having my order taken before. I look white, and the waiter was making fun of me while taking my order! He kept calling me poncha, and was literally talking shit to me in Spanish as he took my order! I felt compelled to order in Spanish because he was insulting me so bad over time looking white. His name was Juan and he had curly black hair. As someone who works in restaurants, I can't believe a restaurant has employed someone like this. It was unbelievably offensive. I would have reported him to a manager, but there was none to be seen in the two and a half hours that we were there. The place says they close late, but they were putting up chairs around us before 11pm. It says online that there's dancing, which is another lie. There's not even a dance floor. Reggaeton music was good, but it's definitely a restaurant not a club. In two and a half hours, Juan checked on us once. Another time he walked down the aisle talking on his phone. The food was bland. They do not have salt on the table, only packets. That would have been ok if our waiter had come by to check on us so I could ask for salt. Don't come here with the intention of dancing, or eating food with flavor. And definitely don't come here if you're a white looking Hispanic and want to be insulted. Racist Ass Manager I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding the treatment I have received from a manager at your Bellflower location on multiple occasions. As a customer who has visited your restaurant several times, particularly for Taco Tuesday, I expected a welcoming and professional experience. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. Most recently, during my visit on June 2, 2026, I approached the salsa bar and politely asked the manager which salsa was the sweet one. I explained that I had tried it before and wanted to avoid selecting it again because it was not to my liking. Instead of assisting me, he repeatedly stated that there was no sweet salsa. When I explained that I had visited several times and was confident one of the salsas had a noticeably sweet flavor, he dismissed my comment and walked away while I was still speaking and attempting to ask a follow-up question. This was not an isolated incident. On a previous Taco Tuesday visit, my party had been waiting an extended period for service, so I approached the bar to order drinks. The same manager told me that I could not order at the bar and needed to remain seated and order through my server. While I understand restaurants may have service policies, the manner in which he communicated with me was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. What concerns me most is not the policy itself, but the repeated lack of courtesy and respect shown to paying customers. I have visited your establishment multiple times and have consistently felt unwelcome during interactions with this manager. As a result of these experiences, I do not plan on returning to the Bellflower location. read more

Checked out this location in Bellflower for the first time yesterday. Ordered some quesa birria tacos, it comes with 3 tacos, consumme, some garnishes, and some spicy yellow salsa. The Birria tacos were delicious, super tasty, loaded with flavors, and they were generous with the protein. We did get some free chips and salsa. The Salsa and chips tasted fresh and made in house. Service was great, our sever was great. She as super nice, friendly and helpful. Recommended her favorites. I have mix feelings about the ambiance... I think the music was blasting way too loud. It was hard to have a conversation over the loud music they were playing. Then I guess there were a few birthday celebrations so the servers help celebrate the birthday so they come out making a ton of noise. I guess it's nice if you're celebrating it but i honestly think it was a bit overwhelming lol. I didn't like how the restaurant deemed the lights even more towards the evening. I do enjoy the ambiance and the variety of drinks and food. I do like all the decor. Some of it is very random and interesting. But one thing I must say is that I wish they would do a sound check. It seems the it is all treble no bass. Sound needs to be equalized I wish they would give him feedback. You can't even hear your self think or hear any conversation. The guy does sound good when he sings and plays the drums but he needs feedback back on lowering the music and level it out. It would make his music and presence more enjoyable. I was there 6/12, party of 8 at approximately 810-820pm. This was for a bday. We were sitting on the back wall that was sharing a wall with the dj to the left of him. Our food came out individually with about 15-20 increments between each meal. I waited 25 mins for a refill on water. Even after I asked the waitress for water. But no she just kept bringing out the alcohol to our table and never brought me anymore water. Other people at my table, gave me their water. Then came my food, let me start by saying I'm vegan. I ordered veggie fajitas, with no cheese on the beans, no crema for the fajitas, no cheese on the guac with flour tortillas. First my fajita platter came out, nothing else, then 10-15 mins went by, then the beans and rice came out correctly, and another 10 mins, the flour tortillas finally came out. After asking two different people for them. And about 10 mins into eat the fajitas, I bite into something with an awful taste and low and behold, after I flung it out of my mouth, it a a piece of meat, chicken to be exact. It was disgusting. I've been vegan for 8 years, and never had this happened to me before. The waitress who was fair complected , kinda tall. With black hair, only offered to have the cooks make it again, and I said sure, but make it to go please. Never offered to comp the bill or anything. After we were all done eating. We waited and waited and waited for the bill. That's was about 30 mins went I finally left, and the bill still wasn't brought out for another 20 mins after that. My friend whom was celebrating her bday said they still charged us for my food and the veggie fajitas the waitress offered to have "made" never made it to our table. Worst experience by far and I will never go back. I hope this doesn't fall on deaf ears. And I hope they take more care in those patrons who are vegan. QUESO FUNDIDO (Chorizo and mustrooms) = delicious Chicken TAQUITOS DORADOS = delicious .... This is my go to when I'm here just for the drinks. Their Tacos Gobernador are also good. My hubby says their Aguachiles are okay. He likes super spicy. Their drinks are good. Sometimes they are great. I think it all depends on who's working that night. The drinks and food have great presentation. This location can get packed. Nice views when there are parades or car shows. Suffice parking. Chill spot for friends and family. No reservation needed.
