If you are looking for a dive bar, this place is it! Chris met us with a smile and was friendly and fun the whole time we were there. Nice mix of customers. Felt welcome the whole time. Plenty of seating. 7 tables on the side that could seat at least 6 people each and that isn't counting the bar itself! One pool table in front, a darts machine, a punching machine, AMI jukebox and an ATM. Oh, unlike most dive bars, this place takes cards and is not cash only. Nice pours and a good selection of bottled beers. This is an old school dive bar so don't expect draft beer or blended drinks. Plenty of parking and clean bathrooms too. What are you waiting for? Omg!!! I haven't been here for months but the atmosphere has totally changed for the better. All walks of life here and it feels like I'm at a bar in Silverlake (if you know, you know). My favorite bar, it never lets me down. You can bump your music on the jukebox and play pool with your homies with beers and strong cocktails galore. Always super nice bartenders. First time here last Sunday... it's a nice low key bar. The people seemed very friendly. Played pool, played darts.. music was great ( I think the customers are able to control it from their phone)... it was just a chill vibe. Brooke was my bartender she was super sweet and attentive. Bartenders are nice, drinks are decent, but that's about it. It's a place to kick it at but I wouldn't say to party. Last time I was there which was very recent, I brought a date with me and we stayed until 10pm cuz it got boring and there was no crowd, so we left. Got bored of the 2nd location and came back to the 1st bar. As we arrived, it was packed, but not with decent people...as I came in to use the restroom, this place got pack with OG type guys and cholas. Not my environment at all, and I'm sure some of them worked for the cartel cuz when I left, I saw a bright red Ferrari parked right up front with some cholo looking kid in it wearing a golden cuban necklace, think he was around his early 20s. All of these things I saw were huge red flags. so idk, I think this place needs to change who they cater to or else you'll scare off visitors from other cities, just saying. Everyone was tatted here, didn't know MS13 ran the place. P.S.......I dare you guys to update your photos, show the people what your new crowd looks like. Im not really a bar guy but I walked into rocks back in March of 2014 and the bartender Ashley made me feel right at home. The locals in the bar were also very friendly. Everybody was personable and made me feel very comfortable. Ashley went out of her way on a busy day to intoduce me to a few patrons who were sitting and walking in. I have been coming to Rocks about once or twice a week since and have met the Rocks Girls. All being Very friendly and making sure I am taken care of. I have also witnessed Ashley in some heated conversation with some customers who dont want to pay their bill, as She never loses Her Cool and handles every situation in a Professional Manner. Sgt Thornton, the rent a cop, turned away 6 girls and myself because one of the girls in the group took a minute to find her ID. He said, in a very slurring manner, that we looked like we were bad energy. His eyes were twisted and his cholo friend kept shoving him and asking "do we have any problems here". As a Mexican, it's rare when I feel threatened by a cholo, but these two "bouncers" were clearly drunk and looking for trouble. He even cracked his knuckles before he turned us away as if ready to fight our group. The fact that this bar is next door to a liquor store, may not be a good thing for the cholos that regular this bar. Crap bouncers, low life clientele, will never go back to this bar that is around the corner from my home. I love coming to this bar! The bartenders Marissa, Pedro and Sue are just so amazing. They have great attitudes and are always so nice and welcoming. They're pretty quick at getting drinks out and are experts at mixing their cocktails. I've never had a problem with any of my drinks. My friends and I love this place. Kicks them out and harasses them down until down the street. I knew she had another location in Long Beach, of which was closed because she got sued for not maintaining the bar and people getting injured. OK little joint. 2 TVs, space for dance floor and seats along the wall. Not spectacular but not bad either. PROS: Clean and well taken care of by staff. Looks like a good "local hangout". CONS: Outside sign is a banner that says "Cocktails". Not impressive. Gave waitress a $3 tip for 1 drink & she did not even face us. (Even if you only get a $1 tip, look at the customer and maybe throw a thank you their way) Talk to regulars a lot but 1st timers have to wait for service. Seconds before I walked in, a guy walked out and started b.s.(ing) with the bouncer. Turned out that guy was the bartender, and the only people in there were a few regulars and a bar fly. I sat there for fifteen minutes, waiting for someone to start tending the bar. The bartender doesn't come back in until I decide to leave. Rocks is an awesome local bar where I felt right at home from the moment I arrived. I have been twice so far, and each time both the staff and the patrons have been super friendly. The best part of my visits was Penny the bartender. She's a beautiful and witty gal who knows how to mix a strong drink. I would come back to Rocks for her alone.
