As someone who has had her fair share of Mediterranean food (including authentic dishes while abroad), this spot was disappointing. Here's what we ordered: - shrimp kabob - chicken shawarma kabob - kafta kabob - lamb kabob - hummus & labneh w/ pita - Mediterranean salad Unfortunately, the shrimp was overcooked and the chicken was very dry. Hummus was less thick and more runny than I'd prefer. The salad was definitely not a "mediterranean" salad and looked like it was thrown together with leftovers they had in the fridge. The pita bread was not my favorite. It's very thin and airy... almost like a torta. The service was fine but I was surprised to see that they charged us extra for a kabob even though it was happy hour and all kabobs were advertised as the same price. Our hummus came with cucumbers and carrot sticks. We asked for additional slices and wouldn't you believe it... it cost us $6 for 4 thin slices of carrots and 4 thin slices of cucumber. Went to Olive Restobar for the first time today and all I can say is it was well worth the drive. I love that is a Mediterranean restaurant but has a Latin feel to it. The staff were so great very attentive. Our server was Oscar and he was amazing. I met the Mgr Carlos as well also such a great guy. All of the food was 10/10 you really can taste the freshness in all of their food as well as their drinks. They are in an outdoor mall area and yet very easy to find. Parking wasn't a hassle at all. Which is always a plus. The inside is beautiful designed. It has an indoor outside arrangement which I'm sure looks great in the evening be it the lighting they have through the restaurant. The first time I came with a group and had the cold mezza sampler (great for sharing) and the chicken shawerma - so yummy. The next time I went (just last week) I went on a girl's lunch date and we had the batata harra (must try!!) and the deviled filet mignon which was cooked perfectly. We also had the King & Queen (nice presentation) as well as the airline chicken piccata - our favorite! Had to try since it's a signature dish. We had dinner here last Friday. There is a lot of parking available. The restaurant itself is simple and elegant. For it being relatively early on a Friday evening (5pm) it was already packed. We started with a few cocktails. I got the Lebanese Mule. The blend of gin, smoked date molasses, ginger, lime, agave made for a cool and refreshing drink. Next up we got the Cantorito Flight. It comes in three flavors, classic, hibiscus and mango. The refreshing blend of tequila, grapefruit, orange, lime, agave and a chili rim make these drinks delicious and also very strong. You have been warned. We got the Sweet and Spicy Shrimp as one of our appetizers. Large, fresh shrimp in a jalapeño and wildflower honey is very addicting and delicious. We also got the salmon ceviche. The lime marinated salmon mixed with pico de gallo and served with pita chips is so tasty and refreshing. Two great choices for appetizers. For our mains we got the Kings Kabob. Two large ribeye skewers over a massive amount of fresh cut garlic fries could easily have made a meal for us. The fries were amazing and the ribeye was so tender and flavorful. Since it was the weekend, we also got the weekend special prime rib. The prime rib was large and super tender. It was served with a large baked potato and all the fixings. Couldn't ask for better mains. For dessert we got the mascapone tiramisu. It was light and rich. We also got a chocolate croissant bread pudding. Dense and delicious and got a scoop of chocolate ice cream. And a dark, rich cup of coffee finished off this incredible meal. Today is My 55th birthday. AKA Super Bowl Sunday. My 'newest year of Life' motto is to "find cool places to go that are close to where I live" and The Olive Restobar fit the bill... and then some! The food is tasty, creatively plated - I eat with My eyes first - the drink I had is super yummy with pomegranate arils & a blood orange floating on top (so fancy!) and I even scored a surprise dessert that I wasn't expecting. But all of these details pale in comparison to the human beings I encountered during My birthday adventure slash visit: Millie, Marco, JJ - especially You, JJ - Jalene, and other anonymous but still friendly faces who connected with Me, wished Me happy birthday (I see You, Isabel & Hector, Cindy, and You too, Art!) and a very, very special shout-out to Arial, Jose & Miguel who serenaded Me in two languages: a trio of Musicians that never lost their joy (despite being forced to compete with all the football noise; tbh I would have been perfectly fine with all the TVs being shut off but I 'get' it, from a 'doing business' perspective). If You come on Sundays & Wednesdays You can see/hear these Folks from 6 -10PM FYI. I chose this restaurant because of the name (I *love* olives). We have been coming here for less than a year after we had a bad experience in the bar across from The Olive. Kenneth was the waiter that took care of my husband and I. He recommended a delicious mixed drink for me ( paloma with tequila) and explained the Happy Hour Menu to us and gave us his recommendations. The restaurant is fairly large with both indoor and patio seating. After a short wait we were served a fresh pita with some type of garlic lemon jalapeño dip. That pita omg. It was warm, thin, and came out inflated. It was honestly the best pita I've ever had. The dip also complemented the pita very well. We ordered the ground beef kebab plate and a steak plate. Both were very flavorful. The kebab had very strong spices but the hummus and rice help absorb the flavor. The steak was very juicy and tender and quite good for a non steakhouse. I would get that again. Beware the deliciousness of the garlic fries lol. So addicting. In addition we ordered cucumber dip which comes with a few chips and pairs well with the kebab.
