I do not recommend this restaurant. Two stars for good customer service. When we came in, we were greeted quite quickly, and brought to our table. Inside was very clean. It is very spacious and well spaced. Separation of regular diners and bar drinking is nice, to keep a family friendly environment separate from the potentially more rowdy crowd. We asked what was highly recommended, and of course, it was what we came for, as others do too for their first and most likely, only visit there. I do not recommend this restaurant. We ordered their special of the day, which was a ceviche. It was made with raw shrimp, not cooked in any way, like straight from the freezer, thawed, chopped, and put into a bowl with the other fresh diced stuff. Usually, the marinating time the shrimp sits in the ceviche "cooks" it, not this one, gray shrimp. We read a review that said the octopus was life-changing, and we love a well-cooked octopus. If the octopus was just cooked, or just heated, or just slightly on the grill for a second, it would have been super delicious and life-changing, however, it was finished-cooked so poorly. My guess is that someone thinks that grill marks make it good, wrong, they burnt it. The flavor is burnt! It becomes bitter and burnt! Well, guess what, we ordered the fish.... And guess what.. it is the same!!! BURNT! Not grilled, BURNT, ON PURPOSE!?! If you want good Zarandeado, I recommend you go try Mariscos Martin in La Puente or Baldwin Park. Like I said, skip it, I do not recommend it. And, it was not cheap neither. It looked so upscale, so awesome, smelled good, then just burnt! Don't believe all the hype. First time at Santos Fish restaurant. We read reviews and heard the service was not so great. I gotta say our server Fernando was very attentive. The Zarandeado fish was excellent. It's a very large portion to feed at least 4 people. We didn't get to try any other dishes or desserts we were too full, but the leftovers were just as good. Came here on a recent weekend to dine with a friend and while the restaurant was busy, there was plenty of seating available and we were accommodated quickly. We ordered a variety of dishes from ceviche to aguachiles to sashimi and also had some tasty oyster shots. Everything was fresh and flavorful and I plan to return very soon. I was really excited about this fish because this is what the foodie influencer was chowing down on. Although there was some kind of seasoning or sauce, the fish was bland. No matter what I put on it, lime, salsa, beans, rice, anything, just bland. I'm glad we tried this place but we won't be returning. I originally saw this place on Instagram and decided to try it out with some friends. They have a separate bar area that's decorated really cute and has a different aesthetic from the main restaurant. The servers were very attentive and gave great recommendations. My friends ordered drinks (can't remember the exact names), but they had dragon fruit and watermelon flavors, super yummy. They were a little on the sweet side, so if that's your thing, you'll love them. For food, we ordered the shrimp aguachile and the sauce was delicious, we even asked for some on the side. I tried to speak with someone--and they supposedly contacted the owner--but he is an ill-mannered individual. I voiced my complaint to him, specifically regarding a fish dish that cost 70; I mentioned the rice and beans, and he replied that you only get 4 ounces of each and that they are merely a courtesy from the restaurant. My husband had been wanting to try the pescado zarandeado for a while because of all the social media hype, so we were excited to finally come in. The atmosphere was great, and the service was just as good--everyone was attentive and welcoming. We started with the oyster shooters, which were flavorful . For our main dishes, my husband ordered the pescado zarandeado, and I ordered camarones a la diabla (not officially on the menu, but they were kind enough to offer, their menu offers a habanero shrimp ). Everything honestly tasted amazing, we were really impressed with the flavors and overall experience while dining. However... shortly after, we both ended up getting violently sick. We believe it may have been from the oysters . I personally spent two days with severe vomiting and an upset stomach, and it took about three days to fully recover. Surprisingly, my least favorite part of the tacos were the tortillas. They had pan fried it but it became so tough. The rice that was on the side was pretty well-seasoned, but I don't think I would order this dish again. The Ribeye Steak & Lobster had a nice smokey flavor, but steak was cooked medium when it was requested to be medium-rare. There was also a random side of pinto beans - just seemed out of place and didn't complement the dish. I wish I had taken a photo of the chips and salsa because it was delicious.
