Came here on a Friday night with the wife and baby. Boy is this place lively. They had a live band going around playing music which added to a fun atmosphere. Unfortunately we were unprepared with headphones/ear buds for the baby, but she luckily slept through the whole dinner. We ordered an aquachile, octopus tacos, and fish tacos. All the food was absolutely delicious, especially the octopus tacos, definitely 10/10 will oeder every time. The cocktails here were also quite strong and delicious. Good variety of flavors, would have to try different ones the next visit. Manager came by after our meal to check up on us. Think it was because we had our baby and it was really loud (our fault for not being prepared). Very nice gesture that he gave us a free aquachile voucher for our next visit. We went to Mariscos Choix on a Wednesday evening. The ambiance is nice, though the live music can be loud. We ordered the Mitotero with fish and shrimp ceviche, as well as the premium white fish a la diabla. The fish dish originally came out as shrimp, and when corrected, the fish smelled a bit fishy and seemed more like tilapia than premium white fish. I celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here with his family, and everyone was incredibly happy with the food! Just a heads up that they don't do reservations under party sizes of 8, so we waited about an hour to be seated. The portions were also super generous. I appreciated that they were able to make adjustments to food, especially if it had raw shrimp in it. My boyfriend's brother got aguachiles but with cooked shrimp, and it was so light and refreshing. The waitress was attentive and on top of getting us more drinks, getting us more chips, and clearing the table in general. My only complaint was that they had seated us right up against the performers, and it was too loud to have a conversation with other people at the table. When we arrived, the host told us it was gonna be a 30 minute wait at around 7:30 PM on Friday night so she gave us the option to sit at the bar so we did. Right off the bat they serve you chips and salsa, but the chips are tostadas and the salsa was pretty spicy. For an appetizer, we got an order of guacamole which came out to $16.99, which is extremely ridiculous for the price didn't know till afterwards since it didn't have a price on the menu. For the entrée we ordered the Molcajete which also didn't come with a price on the menu, which came out to about to $55 which came with a nice big bone marrow, Asada cooked rare even though we asked for medium, pieces of chicken, three pieces of shrimp wrapped in bacon, nopales, block of cheese, green onions, half an avocado. It also included a side of rice and beans in one order of tortillas we wanted another order of tortillas which came out to an additional $2.99 Overall, the food was flavorful, but the prices were some of these things are ridiculous specifically for the guacamole and the up charge for extra tortillas. The ambiance is nice and modern. They have mostly outdoor seating which looked pretty cozy. Our server was great too and the other staff that attended to us were great as well. If you wanna come somewhere with cool vibes this is the place for you but honestly, I've been to better hole in the walls that offer the same items for fair prices. BEWARE OF THEIR MISLEADING MENU PRICING I came to this restaurant from Miami, Florida as a first time visitor based on a recommendation from a trusted source. However, my California family and I had a terrible experience at this place while watching the Mexico soccer game. We were specifically told that margaritas would be on happy hour until the game started at 6:00 PM. Based on that information, our group ordered several margaritas, expecting the happy hour to last until kickoff. The game didn't actually start until 7:00 PM, but when the bill came, we were shocked to find out we had been charged regular price because the bartender claimed the happy hour didn't exist and the drinks specials actually started when the game started which should've been at 6pm but fifa delayed the game until 7 pm. As a business owner I expected this restaurant to do the right thing and they did not honor the happy hour price or any special from 6-7pm for the delay of this game. Now mind you, the bartender himself handed us the happy hour menu and confirmed the price of the margaritas would go up from $5 to $9 at 6pm. That was completely different from what we were told when he brought the tab and it was an entire bait-and-switch. The margaritas were not even $9 because in what math do you equate $85 for 5 margaritas and $51 for 3?? Receipt has been provided time stamped 5:25pm on a Tuesday along with their happy house $4 off Margarita discounted menu. There was no premium liquor or any extras to these drinks. The restaurant is very shady for that and if they are not going to honor happy hour prices at all they need to advise customer of this. Needless to say, nowhere in their menu do they mention a soccer game special on drinks or whatever "social hour" means on this receipt. I did try to resolve this at the restaurant and your bartender stated that the happy hour didn't exist contradicting what he had said earlier and this man didn't even know how many drinks we drank. All he offered was to take 3 drinks off the menu but that doesn't make me whole. He provided me with the wrong pricing and should've stood behind it. Since the restaurant staff won't fix their wrongs I am left with no choice but voice my concerns on this platform and hope the owner sees this and reaches out to me. The service was just as disappointing. We waited a very long time for our tostadas for our Aguachiles and even longer for basic things like silverware. The bartender Joel blamed the delays on the restaurant being crowded, but that excuse didn't make sense because we were one of the only customers ordering food at the time. To make matters worse, the food was mid at best and definitely not worth the prices they charge. What's even more misleading is that the food menu doesn't list all prices, so you have no idea what you're going to be paying until the bill arrives for many of their items. Overall, the misleading happy hour information, lack of full menu pricing, slow service, and underwhelming food made for a frustrating experience. I felt misled and taken advantage of. I won't be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for honest pricing or good service. 0/10 the entire experience is unacceptable please stay away ! read more
