Had their chilaquiles torta with a side of fruit and I also had their pistachio latte. The pistachio latte was ok (for me) you can taste the pistachio the flavor is smooth in sure there is a lot of people that would love it. Now as for the chilaquiles torta I have to say I was surprised. The torta has a sophisticated look lol it wasn't a torta like I'm used to eating BUT let me just say it was delicious! I would definitely order this again. 10/10 The service was great very attentive and friendly.
Very homey spot with very friendly service! Great for families and brunch. The food is delicious and with good portions. Just be aware that it is street parking.

Great place for breakfast! One of my LBC Top choice. We stopped here during the week and it isn't too busy. Service is prompt and the staff is friendly. Great flavors from all the dishes we ordered. The breakfast burritos are big and flavorful. The housemade salsa has great flavor and well balanced amount of heat. We will definitely be coming back here soon!
Blackbird Cafe is a great go-to for a classic breakfast. I stopped by and had some of the staple items, and everything was really solid. The menu has a lot of options, so there's definitely something for everyone, and I like that they also serve lunch if you're in the mood for something beyond breakfast. The hashbrowns were especially good crispy and well-seasoned and the turkey sausage patties were honestly perfect. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. Special shoutout to Lydia, who was great and made the experience even better. It's a casual diner with outdoor seating too. Parking is street parking only, but overall it was a really pleasant visit. I'd definitely come back when I'm in the area.
Second time here..... we came back for more lol..... after our doctor's appointment we stopped here for some breakfast. Service here is great, ambience is also great. Lastly our food was yummy....no complaints. Glad we came in and see ya next time.

Our server was very welcoming and fast. She let us know the specials and they all sounded great Inside they have very cool art pieces and paintings that are for sale too. I will be back Cheers
Great cozy little spot for breakfast The inside is like a classic little diner with mexican fusion and art on their walls There is no parking lot so find parking on the street The service was A+ she had great feedback, was honest and treated us like family. I ordered their el luchador benedict which was packed with flavor and was different since they used a bolillo bread at the bottom instead of the typical english muffin. Great combo of ingredients all served with hash browns. Also ordered the peanut buttah hunny pancakes which was moist and a very generous size came with 2 and their spicy mexican omellet with tots . Left here 100% satisfied i highly recommend if you're in LB and want something a little different
Very good good and good server. However I think charging us almost $7 on orange juice is a bit ridiculous. Pancake was almost $4 which wasn't bad. Burrito was tasty and salsa was good . Coffee was not so good! Sausage is amazing! Place was pretty empty.
The service is simply excellent! The staff are so attentive and friends, you can't help but to feel special. Their menu has tons of options and they all look great and are a very good value. Wonderful place and I cannot wait to return.
Came for breakfast with a couple of friends Saturday morning. For a table of 4, the wait was about 30 mins. Parking can be hard because it's in a residential area but luckily we found a spot not too far away. They have seating on the inside and outside which is pretty nice. Service was good and she was nice! #7 breakfast burrito: 2/5, I was expecting the hash browns to be crispy but it wasn't at all. The hashbrowns were soft which threw me off. I added avocado and they put a lot in the burrito. I feel like there was barely any bacon which was disappointing. Chicken fried chicken Benedict: 4/5, My boyfriend loved this! The egg was perfectly cooked. It was a fried chicken patty. The chicken and hashbrowns were super crispy.
For a brunch spot, Blackbird is decent. I went on a Sunday and it wasn't slammed per se, but they were noticeably a little short staffed. Blackbird is a super cute, kitschy place, with an endless menu that may be a bit too expansive. I ordered a matcha latte and fruity pebbles French toast. My SO had regular French toast, regular coffee, and a plate with bacon and eggs. Portions here are quite large (to the point where sharing is likely ideal). Neither of us could finish our food due to the aforementioned, but the food was delicious. If you order the matcha latte, it's not matcha, it's not a latte. It's a drop of sweet matcha flavoring in a glass of milk - it was really awkward to me and I regret ordering it for the price. Service may be hit or miss. We had to ask for missing food, syrup, etc. It sucked, but it could be due to lack of people that day.
Still super cute inside with the cute gift shop area. Had the chicken fried chicken eggs Benedict with tater tots. Everything was yummy, staff were great. Good came out with no delays.

Delicious gravy!I like the breakfast bowl very much. I replaced the hollandaise sauce with their country gravy. The downside of this restaurant is, if you're into "hollandaise sauce" - the hollandaise sauce is powdered based and they add butter and such, it's not made from scratch with the egg yolk, butter, lemon juice, etc. It would definitely step up their game if they did it from scratch. read more

BREAKFAST BURRITOS This place is a steal when it comes to breakfast burritos. $9.75 for most of them and they sure are filling. Also feature very good Benedict's. I sure enjoy the caballo dorado Benedict. Sopes with poached eggs and chorizo. Cute restaurant with local art displayed on walls. Only drawback is there is only one restroom and if it's occupied it's occupied. Parking on the street. read more

chicken fried chicken eggs benedict: 4/5. redeemable becuase the fried chicken was AMAZING, however my eggs were overcooked and more like medium boiled so they weren't runny and weren't even soft boiled which was disappointing. the tater tots were nice and crunchy i was happy, but the hash brown pics online didn't look very crispy or anything so even though i prefer the potatoes that way i didn't order that. #4 bacon eggs and hash brown breakfast burrito and #3 pork sausage and egg breakfast burrito: the breakfast burritos were massive and pretty good, but they just had hella beans. very large and could not finish it, maybe 20% left to take home. regular eggs benedict: 3.5/5 egg was also not runny and medium boiled, so nothing bad but nothing standout. service was chill, nothing standout, waters got refilled once. the restaurant was decently full 60% and nice outdoor seating for smaller parties. read more

Stopped in after a graduation. This place is a little small, but was able to accommodate our party of 10. It also closes a little early, but we had enough time to order, eat and enjoy. The food was so delicious! Their plates are so flavorful, and the portions are nice. Highly recommend the Poutine Tots. The service was superb as well. Our waitress was very personable, patient, and had a great sense of humor. read more

I came on a rainy day to sit on the patio and have breakfast burritos with friends. Thankfully, there are a number of options to choose from, with inclusions of various breakfast meats and other fillings. My burrito was good! It was certainly filling and there was a lot of it. I got one of the most basic ones on the menu, so I got the intended no-frills experience. A friend ordered a hot drink that came out in a veritable steaming cauldron, also, which serves to impress if not amaze. One thing I'm still hung up on is the haunting pictures of Bert from Sesame Street inside. Don't get me wrong, I love 'em, I just clearly don't understand what they're there for. Went here on a Friday for breakfast. Was greeted and seated. Waitress attended to us with a smile and asked what we would like to drink. Ordered a mimosa and bloody mary. Received our beverages very quickly. Took our order, ordered Huevos Rancheros and Moons over hammy. All came within minutes. "Very pleased about tbat." Food was delicious! The Huevos Ranchers is one of the best I have tasted. Large portion was served. The hammy was great as well. They ambiance was great with artistic paintings everywhere. It's like eating at an art museum with paintings and drawings for sale. Blackbird Revamped the entire restaurant and it looks modern. Looks fantastic! I would definitely come back. Great service and great food. Kudos to our waitress Lydia! She did an exceptional job! Bravo to her for always checking up on us. Awesome customer service. This place is a hidden Gem in the Wrigley Long Beach area. You won't be dissapointed. There was no wait time, we arrived in a perfect time. Saturdays and Sundays are very busy. read more
've been a regular at Blackbird Cafe, whether dining in or grabbing a to-go order, and have always had a positive experience--especially with Annette, who's typically my server. However, my recent visit was a bit of a disappointment, and I'm writing this review to hopefully serve as a constructive moment for the team. I placed an order for a Greek Omelette (no mushrooms) and two slices of sourdough toast. I'll note that to avoid food waste, if you want two slices of toast, you have to specifically ask since it's usually just one slice by default. Parking is always a bit tricky on weekends, given it's street parking only. When I got home and opened my bag, I found only one slice of toast. No big deal--I could let that slide. However, when I opened the omelette container, I found mushrooms, which I specifically asked to be left out due to an allergy. I called the restaurant right away, and the team was kind enough to offer a refund or to remake the order. I opted for the remake. Here's where I think things could be improved: As someone who frequents Blackbird, I've come to expect a certain level of attention to detail. When I'm amending an order--especially when it's for an allergy--it's important that the person who takes the order double-checks the specifics before handing it off. The person on my arrival the done time was extremely apologetic and admitted they got it completely wrong. For my troubles, I think both a refund AND a remake of the meal would've been a more fitting resolution, especially since I was sent home with an incomplete and potentially unsafe meal. To be clear, I've had great experiences here in the past and will likely return again, but I hope this review serves as a gentle reminder for staff to double-check orders, especially when there are amendments. It's an easy fix to avoid unnecessary mistakes, and I think with a little more attention to detail, Blackbird will continue to be a fantastic spot for all of us who enjoy their great food and service. read more

Came in on a weekend for brunch and was able to find street parking in the neighborhood on Orange Ave. The service was good and food arrived in a timely manner for the weekend. We ordered: * Breakfast Burrito- decent breakfast burrito with tender meat and flavorful red sauce. The black beans were bland, but nothing some hot sauce and salt couldn't fix. * Dos Caballeros Benedict- a Mexican influenced Benedict with corn sopes instead of English muffins. The spicy soy chorizo went well with the poached eggs. The hash browns were perfectly crispy! If the owners read this: Some music playing in the background would make this cute mom n pop establishment even more vibey :) read more
I was in Long Beach for the afternoon and thought I'd find a new café to try. I looked for places on Yelp that had an interesting sandwich or burger. I saw the Ranchero Burger on the menu at Blackbird Café and the search immediately ended. I arrived and the restaurant is a green building on the northwest corner of Orange Ave and Wardlow Road. There is no parking lot and I had to go around the block a few times to try and figure out where to park since a lot of the street parking is labeled with red no parking zones or green 30 minute loading zones. I ended up parking on the street a block west down Wardlow and it only took a few a few minutes to walk to Blackbird. I walked in around 11:30am and was greeted by a nice woman behind the counter who seated me. There are about a dozen tables inside and I think ten or so smaller tables out front in the patio area. I didn't even need to see the menu because I knew I wanted the Ranchero Burger and I ordered it with fries. A little under fifteen minutes later it arrived at the table open faced and looked delicious with all the ingredients in plain view. I put the top bun on, cut it in half, and dug in. The ingredients besides the burger are chopped green chilis, two slices of bacon, Havarti cheese, and an egg and this burger had so much flavor. The server came to check on me and mentioned that they hand form all their burgers to order. The burger was pretty filling so I only had about half of the fries. They could have been cooked a little more crisp but they were good also. I would definitely recommend this burger and if I'm ever in the area again, they had some other interesting menu items that I would be curious to try. read more
Stopped here randomly at the last minute with no reservation. I ordered a guava mimosa and it was good but the breakfast tacos were a little bland. The menu is so extensive, I think if it was smaller, they would be able to focus more on the quality of the food and possibly elevate it. Passed BB on way to church. Stopped there when church was done. Good use of space - patio in front 6-7 tables inside. Attentive Annette took my order. This restaurant serves, "banger," type sausages: round, like your thumb, length of thumb. Blueberry pancakes with blueberries inside - delicious! Eggs, fiery hot salsa, good coffee - cremora only - one unisex bathroom. Noticed server Annette, was mentioned in another review - Annette knows how to take your order and returns just when you have a request - hope she is your server. Her timing is excellent! Looove Blackbird Cafe, love their food! I usually go for their sandwiches, wraps and soups! The service is amazing everyone there is very knowledgeable about their menu. The ambience is great. I bring my three-year-old and he's treated like a king. Please try their chicken chili. It's amazing. read more

I don't recall them having a kids menu. We did have a child with us and we were able to make an easy order for the child, such as grilled cheese and pancakes..

Is the outdoor patio dog-friendly?
Yes it is! I've had my pet with me on the patio!
How is the Bloody Mary?
They are very tasty. On the spicy side but we can make not so spicy if spicy' not your preference. We use soju, which is distilled from barley. So no vodka in our bloody Mary's. Still delicious and our top seller.
