The Pan in Long Beach is always a hit! I've been here a few times, and the staff has always been attentive, welcoming, and super friendly. I usually order Lupe's Chilaquiles. This time I tried the chorizo with egg whites instead of Asada with egg whites. It wasn't my favorite, but that had nothing to do with how it was cooked or served--it just wasn't for my taste buds. I'll definitely stick to the asada next time! This location is always clean, and I love the decor and overall vibe. Just make sure to get there early because they definitely get busy! Good food, good service, comfy seating, spacious parking (although I hear this varies vastly depending on time of arrival - we were there close to opening on a Sunday morning) Server(s) were cool. Very friendly, offered good suggestions and had a general good vibe about them. I am so bad at getting their names. I only remember Joseph and he was cool but our table was handed over to another waitress shortly after arrival and I don't remember her name but she was great. I'm super indecisive, especially with massive menus - Cheesecake Factory is a nightmare - but The Pan had a great variety so it made the choice a bit difficult. I saw they had a cuban sandwich and I froth at the mouth for these but I was convinced to try the loaded hashbrowns. We actually got into a little conversation about the miscommunication between restaurants and customers sometimes because everyone's definition of hashbrown is different. Are they the McDonalds oval shaped golden discs or the shredded and pancake-style flat things? OR are they those weird onion and pepper potatoes that some people call hashbrowns even though they are home fries BUT they're not even fried, they're sauteed so clearly having an identity crisis but anyway... The Pan's loaded hashbrowns are.... the shredded kind! :D Wow, if someone actually broke through my review and read my potato rant... I'm buying you breakfast here... Limit $20 :) Anyway... couldn't help but order my plate with a guava pancake as I've never heard of that before and tried stepping a little out of my comfort zone and trying something a bit different. Was very yummy, although I have my eye on the banana pancakes for next time. Glaze was a little runnier than expected, although I did take a minute to dive into the pancake as I was preoccupied by the hashbrowns - delicious by the way. Hashbrowns came loaded with: cheese, green onion, chopped pieces of bacon (thick kind, not bacon bits!) and diced sausage (turkey sausage is an option, so I'll def opt for that next time). Dish was nicely seasoned, no overpowering spices or unnecessary aiolis - wait, actually it did come with a chili aioli but it was more like a spicy mayo and it was not spicy, so it's a good dish for anyone to enjoy. Only thing was it arrived a bit cold; cheese wasn't thoroughly melted but the flavors compensated for that easily so it wasn't really a bother at all. Dish also lacked grease and for it being absolutely covered in cheese, bacon, and sausage, I was happier than heck that there were no grease pools. Service was good, although they lagged a bit with refills - they get insanely busy though so I get it. Again, they compensated with good vibes, suggestions, overall interactions so I wouldn't worry about a lack of attention here. I would probably not advise against ordering the guava pancake; however, it wasn't anything incredibly special so I'd opt for a different flavor if going the pancake route. I recently came down to Long Beach to visit a friend, and we decided to have brunch at The Pan. The restaurant has a really cute, classic diner feel inside, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. There was about a 30 minute wait since they don't take reservations, but it was definitely worth it. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, and no one had any issues with their food. I ordered the stuffed French toast, and it was absolutely amazing...easily one of the best brunch items I've had in a long time. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The vibes in here are so cute. I really enjoyed the Beach aesthetics and they even had bingo so we got to play as we were finishing our meal it was so fun. The customer service was excellent. Located on Del Amo Blvd and Long Beach Blvd, this location is quite popular and was crowded when I visited - Wednesday mid-morning. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant that unfortunately was full which required us to wait 5 or so mins for someone to leave. Our party of 3 had a 30min wait for a table so we opted to sit at the counter. We were greeted right away with menus from our server. She took our drink and food order right away and our items were actually delivered in a timely manner. We chose The Lumberjack ($20) which comes with two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs any style, two bacon strips, two sausages, and house potatoes. You do have the option to upgrade to a specialty pancake or waffle for an additional $2. Portions are generous and everything was cooked perfectly, including the over-easy eggs. We opted for hash browns instead of house potatoes. Hash browns were crispy and what I really appreciated was the bacon was cooked thoroughly - no fatty pieces like how a lot of other places serve. The PANCAKES, oh my goodness! They are SO. FRICKEN. DELICIOUS. They were fluffy, buttery, and just the right amount of sweetness - these are a must try! Two pancakes and a scoop of butter - my absolute favorite item of the whole meal. We also chose the "Original" Loaded Hash Browns ($18) which is two eggs any style served on top of hash browns, bacon, sausage, and sprinkled with jack and cheddar cheese and topped with sour cream, green onions, and thennnnn, drizzled with chili aioli. Greasy, meaty, goodness! It is a lot of food for the price so make sure to come hungry. Overall, this place is quite popular as I remember like 8 or so years ago they only had like one location in Gardena and now we're up to 5! Service wasn't great at the end. We never were checked on by our initial server who took our order after the food was delivered and we waited 10 or so mins once we were done eating to get a to-go box and our check. I had to get up and approach the service area to finally close out my bill. I do know that every place in every type of industry (food, hospitality, hospitals, etc.) are understaffed but what I didn't like was there were other staff members standing around. IMO, they could circulate and fill in gaps with service - such as, clearing tables, refilling beverages, asking if tables needed anything - things to help out the servers! The wait here was quite long even on a weekday afternoon. The party in front of us actually spoke to the manager because the hostess was quite rude and dismissive to him regarding the wait and any information about that.  Once I got sat and actually ate, it was your standard kitschy brunch spot. What I got: Pastrami Fries, Biscuits and Gravy, Loaded Hashbrowns. Everything was fine. Again, it looks and tastes like every other brunch spot in California. I don;t really like breakfast/brunch food like that, but it really was just fine.  I'm assuming that you could get similar levels of food for less of a wait at other places, so I would probably just recommend your favorite local diner. I give this place a 10/10, and here's why. The Pan is officially one of my new favorite local breakfast spots. I've been looking for a good American-style breakfast place with a Southern touch, and this place absolutely delivered. First off, parking is easy because they have their own lot, already a win in Long Beach. The inside has a modern rustic diner vibe that feels cozy, clean, spacious, and welcoming without feeling overcrowded. I went on a Saturday morning around 9:30 AM, and although it was busy, the wait wasn't bad at all. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the vanilla latte and the shrimp and grits, and let me just say... the shrimp and grits were . Creamy, cheesy, flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and the portion size was generous enough for leftovers. Definitely some of the best shrimp and grits I've had locally. My cousin ordered the Lumberjack Special which comes with pancakes, sausage, eggs n potatoes but he upgraded his pancakes to one of the specialty pancakes; chocolate chip pancakes, which was an available option for a small upcharge. Overall, great food, great vibe, reasonable prices, and family-friendly. I'll definitely be back, this might become my regular breakfast spot. read more

This is just my opinion and experience with plenty of breakfast spots. The shrimp and grits are very good,and you do get a healthy portion, but for 20 plus dollars,it does not come with any breads at all,but you have the option of ordering separately at an additional cost! The ambiance is bright and refreshing,restrooms clean,and plenty of parking in lot(formly the Sizzler). I happen to attend on a Monday evening for bingo it was really fun! I won twice that evening, your first card is complimentary with a $10 purchase of something,thereafter,the cards are $5 per game. You get to spend a winners wheel for lots of prizes, including cash! Now I ordered a pastrami sandwich,and when I tell you it was disgusting, it was awful,the meat was fried to a crisp,I thought it would be steamed pastrami meat(my bad)! The Pan has been recommended to me by a few people so I went in with high hopes. There were some recommendations made, but the only recs we followed were the Blueberry Lemon and guava pancakes. The real star of the show was the Guava n Cream Pancakes! I'd go back time and time again for them. We also had the green chile hash (which was good), the kielbasa omelet (there were a ton of bell peppers which took over the flavor), French toast breakfast (pretty standard, nothing amazing) and the lemon blueberry pancakes (house made lemon butter was so dang good, but we didn't really care for the pancake itself). I'm going to start it simple, WOW! I came with my family for a simple breakfast and can't believe this is down the street. We were seated immediately on a fairly packed Sunday and got our mimosas within maybe 5 minutes. We split a bottle, which was not that bad! The Pan is basically like a glorified Denny's--in a good way . They have a huge variety of options, so there's pretty much something for everyone, and everything I've tried has been really yummy! My only issue is how PACKED it gets on the weekends. I personally avoid coming Saturday or Sunday because the wait and crowds can be a lot. My favorite time to come is Monday or Tuesday morning when it's much calmer and I can actually enjoy my breakfast. Definitely recommend it, just choose your day wisely! read more

Food is seriously delicious! I went two more times after my introduction and have not been let down yet. The server are polite but I believe they need a hostess that is more aware of the importance of evenly placing customers so their servers can maintain appropriate, well paced attentiveness. My first time, my group was placed near the door w/o being asked what our preference was. The server checked on us so often that it was obvious we were expected to hurry up, eat, and leave. The second time it was just myself and another person during the slow time of day. Once again placed by the door and rarely checked on that we were forgotten. It seems as though service and seating is becoming a lost art for but if taken seriously, it would really strengthen the restaurants quality. The food has the ability to draw the customers, but one mishandled service can ruin it forever. The first time I dined there I had the short rib Benedict and was in pure heaven. The second time I had a traditional American breakfast, pancakes and scrambled eggs, bacon, hash and was equally pleased, well nourished, delighted by the quality of the food. The Pan puts other chain breakfast spots to shame and I pray the stick their current formula with the food, provide their servers with professional training, and hire a host/hostess who embodies class and a specific expertise on how to make every customer feel special and be intentional about coming back again and again and again...I'm rooting for this spot! read more

I really hate to give this place two stars but it just wasn't worth the hype. I love a good diner style restaurant so I just knew I would love it yet here I am not impressed. Fun fact about this place the building used to be sizzler back in the day. Only OG Long Beach kids know about that! Anywho.. the food was average. I ordered the chicken and waffles and side of house potatoes and orange juice. My potatoes were yummy, orange juice very tasty, French toast was mid, and my first order of chicken was undercooked. After getting my undercooked chicken I was over it especially after the wait to seat and receive food. The restaurant itself is pretty decent in size. There is enough space to move around and places to sit without feeling cluttered unlike most restaurants nowadays. There is bar seating with TVs to watch your fav sports game, tables, and booths. They have a pretty big menu so there is more than enough options for everyone. The service was good and our server particularly was very nice and accommodating to the issues with certain items ordered at our table. Prices for menu items were standard for a brunch spot and the portion sizes were great. This place seems to be a local favorite so if coming on a weekend be sure to come early or you will be waiting.
