Beautiful place at Shay Hotel! This would en a great place for brunch or a girls' event. Lovely views by the pool. Friendly staff. Delicious tacos (the shrimp and fish were best).

    Guac and queso

Came here for Dine La. We got the lunch special for $35. We chose this restaurant because we had more to choose from but they do provide a disclaimer that the portion sizes are smaller than the usual. We got to try their Guac and queso which both were really good. The Guac was almost perfect. It didn't need any extra lime or salt. The queso was packed with flavor but I think it was a little heavy on the seasoning. The tortilla chips were good and nicely seasoned and the blue corn tortillas were good as well. Next we had the ahi tuna ceviche and coconut ceviche. Both were also tasty and fresh. The coconut ceviche was creamy but included corn nuts which I thought was a little random. The ahi tuna had pecans and that I enjoyed. We both got the Baja fish tacos and agreed it was good. It was just crispy enough w the right amount of flavor. Only thing is they were so tiny and we got one each. The waiter said it's usually one taco but bigger so just so you know. I'd like to order two but one is already overpriced. We finished with some chocolate flan and churros and I think these were the best out of everything. The chocolate flan was rich in this expresso flavor and the churros were crispy outside and shush chewy enough. It came either two churros and chocolate sauce to dip it in which I love! We both got cucumber mocktails which was nice and refreshing. The ambiance was super cute and clean. Definitely got the LA vibes. Theres plenty of seating whether you'd like to sit at a table or the lounges closer to the pool. I def want to come back to enjoy the pool and try out some of their other food but I'll know to expect a bit of a splurge and not quite getting a bang for your buck when it comes to the food.

Really great vibe. Great cocktail menus and wonderful friendly staff. You are greeted right away and servers are very attentive. Would totally come again. Great views.

Loved the spicy Margarita! I was able to order a skinny version so there was no sugar added. Service was friendly, ambiance was nice bring it was a rooftop. I look forward to going back to check out their food menu. There's no cheap parking options, you can valet, I dummy believe they validate. If you're willing to walk, you can find some street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods.

5 stars for service 3 stars for food. The six of us had dinner and ate family style. Beautiful room with warm golden lighting, and a cozy fireplace that makes the whole space feel inviting and comfortable. Hits Shrimp with poblano and sweet black chili Perfectly cooked shrimp with that ideal snap when bitten into. The sweet black garlic added depth and richness that made this one of the standout dishes. Fish taco (rockfish) The breaded rockfish was fried to absolute perfection with crisp exterior, tender flaky interior. The chile arbol mayo, crema, salsa pico added that quintessential tastebud lube that is the hallmark of a good fish taco. Very well executed. Chips, salsa, and guacamole Excellent. The chips were warm, freshly made, and perfectly crispy. The salsa and guacamole were bright and flavorful. CHOCOLAN Otherworldly. A moist chocolate cake steeped in espresso and rum, paired with creamy flan, vanilla-coffee caramel, and whipped cream. This dessert was the highlight of the entire meal. Misses Quesadilla de Chicharrón This one fell flat. The tortilla was oily and soggy, and the filling not memorable . Carnitas taco The chicharrón topping added great crispy texture and flavor, but the pork itself fell flat as it lacked seasoning and didn't deliver the depth or richness you'd expect. Overall a gorgeous space with exceptional service. A huge shoutout to Quinn and his team for being incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional. They really elevate the evening. Happy Eating!

Such a cute aesthetic to this rooftop bar/restaurant. They have a cozy outdoor space with sofas and fire pits surrounding a pool. They also have regular dining tables by the bar. I came here for dinner yesterday with 3 friends, and it was pretty empty so we initially sat by one of the fire pit sofas, but it wasn't the best setup for having plates of food, so we moved to a regular table. I ordered the salt air margarita, their signature drink, and the quesadilla de chicharron. The drink was good, and the food was alright. The quesadilla was more cheese than meat. But the service and drinks were good.

Ambiance is a 10/10. It definitely meets the rooftop vibe you'd want to experience. Parking in culver city sucks, but there is a 2hr free lot off National by Warner Bros. You have to get validation from that coffee shop. I only had the Baja fish taco and the non-alcoholic margarita. Enjoyed the food but it is pricey as you'd expect for a hotel restaurant. I also noticed they bring chips and salsa to the table without prompting but charge you for it. Service was good, it was a light day. I'd check it out again.

Tuna ceviche looks pretty here, but it WASN'T pretty for 3 of us who had it afterwards.

4 stars for decor 2 for the food I came here for a bday party with some girlfriends on a Saturday night and it was Dine LA week. I was excited because I'm a fan of José Andrés as I've eaten at the Bazaar SLS. The place wasn't too crowded. I did have some food allergies and decided the tuna ceviche was the only thing I could order. GOOD: cute decor, excellent service from our waitress, Cynthia and Nelly. Choco flan was said to have been the best thing eaten from the table. BAD: my ginger beer mojito mocktail was overly sour so they remade it without the lime. Maybe the same person made the tuna ceviche because that too was so damn sour, but I was starving at that point and just ate it cuz I was desperate for protein. (I hate that I have to report this) REALLY Bad: my stomach started to cramp so bad while in the restaurant that I took digestive pills and an activated charcoal to ease the pain. Turns out 2 others in our party felt ill through the next day and made the conclusion it was the ceviche (since that's the only thing I had and was the ONLY common denominator). Overall: Very disappointed in the food. I just expected more from a José Andres restaurant.

Cute dog friendly rooftop in Culver! Came here for lunch on Sunday. It was nice that it wasn't crowded. Parking is difficult- you either have to valet for $18 or park at Ivy Station ($18 max). I went to validate my ticket at a coffee shop for 2 hours. The guacamole, ceviche, and tacos were good! The chilaquiles were drenched in sauce so the chips weren't crunchy anymore and I didn't really care for the shrimp dish we got. Overall, it is pricey for Mexican food, but you get aesthetic vibes by the pool.

Made it a point to go back and try the food. This restaurant has changed over a few times and honestly, it was GREAT breakfast/brunch before when it was Canopy Club!! However, I love the poolside so I decided to give the new restaurant a chance. I was pleasantly surprised by the tacos -- fish was my favorite. The mushroom taco was good too but the rockfish was much better. French fries are reliable and chips and salsa is okay. I'll update when there's more to try. Service is always ok, but just ok. Sun deck with a decent playlist and small pool and venue but good for a dayscape.

    Chocoflan and tres leches dessert
    Jetrina M.

I went here with a friend for lunch for dineLA. Total was $25 per person, plus tax and tip. We ordered the guacamole and queso fundido to start, atun pacifico and coconut ceviche, pescado and carnitas taco and the chocoflan and tres leches for dessert. Everything tasted great and the portions were overall large for their dineLA menu. The queso had tequila which you could definitely taste and I wasn't a huge fan, but outside of that I would get all the dishes again.

Came here for dinner. Food and service was great. Very cute place to come and have a drink with appetizers.

Butterfly is located on the rooftop on The Shay hotel. Valet parking only or you can pay for self parking at the structure by the Platform. The space is very cute and nicely decorated. Kind of weird that hotel guests have to walk through the restaurant to get to the pool. We tried their dineLA menu and got: Guacamole - lots of lime juice and delicious Quesofundido - very cheesy, greasy, and came with three warm blue corn tortillas Tuna ceviche - Asian inspired flavors with Maggi soy sauce. Quite salty, but this would make a great poke bowl. Shrimp ceviche - shrimp was precooked perfectly. Nice flavors Carnitas taco - way too salty Fish taco - delicious batter fried fish, but the toppings and sauce were watery and made the tortilla soggy Ordered an extra mushroom taco since it was happy hour and on the HH menu. I did not like it at all. Tres leche - pretty good, but cake was super dense Chocoflan - delicious flavors in the chocolate cake and sauce, but the flan part was lumpy and flavorless. Our server was not observant or interested in our table. It took a while for him to first come over and introduce himself. I had ordered the mushroom taco from the happy hour menu, but he charged the full price. I asked him about it and he said he gave us a "regular sized taco". It seemed like the same portion as the dinela menu tacos, but whatever. The restaurant is cute, but the food was hit or miss and the service could have been better. I give it a 2.5 star rating.

I live in Del Rey and I travel often on Venice Blvd at Sepulveda. Tamix is parked right in front of of the Shell station on Venice. You can see their bright lights from a 1/4 mile away. I'm always in a rush, so I never stop. Well tonight is my night. It was a bit cold and windy, but who cares - I get TACOS! There is always a line and folks sitting at the provided tables and seats in front of their truck. They have all your favorites, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, gringas and even fajitas! My favorite and default tacos are always going to be the carnitas and carne asada. Right after that will be Al Pastor and Chicken. They also have lingua, tripe, cabeza as well as chorizo! While they take cards, bring cash, that's the best price. Card prices are a bit more. Their prices are clearly marked on the huge menu. Orders come out quick and help yourself to the condiments bar filled with limes, pickled onions, red and green salsas and sauces, radishes, and pico de gallo. The guys behind the grill are friendly and fast. They do a great job of keeping the area clean and keeping the condiment bar stocked. They have trucks all over LA. Check out their locations on their website or here on Yelp! I am coming back and want to try their burritos and tortas!

Straight up, I can only judge on the Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos. I got the sane proteins at both taco stops and added my own toppings. I tried to do them exactly the same but Tamix actually has more options brother's cousins. The meat Tamix has really good flavor . You can taste it even over all the toppings and salsas. The flavor really stands out. Unlike Brothers cousins. I literally only taste the tortilla some salsa. Even the Southside Brothers cousins is lacking in the flavor department. I don't really like writing things in a negative way so please don't take it that way. If you're a fan of either please continue going there but this is just my personal opinion.

However, El Primo has recently HUMBLED me. I have to give credit where credit is due and El Primo managed to slide in my number 1 spot for best tacos in LA - I am truly impressed. Of course, I always opt for carne asada and the meat here is just so tender and flavorful especially when paired with their salsa which has the perfect amount of spice and flavor. As a major pineapple fan, I understand it's more traditional to add that with al pastor but I add it onto my carne asada tacos and it is so yummy. Their pineapple is freshly cut right in front of you and is my favorite aspect of this vendor as I know not all vendors have it. Lastly, let's be clear that not all horchata is created equally but El Primo has superior horchata. The amount of milkiness and cinnamon is absolute perfection as I've had some watery horchatas in the past, so make sure you grab yourself a horchata while you're here. As someone who lives in the valley, despite recently discovering this spot a few weeks ago I find myself driving out to Venice a lot lately just for these tacos because they are just THAT GOOD and also very cheap. Just make sure you bring cash or have Zelle and enjoy the food here because it is phenomenal.
