I love Ospi! Such a treat every time I go! For appetizers had the Caesar salad and meatballs which were both smothered in Parmesan, so good. For dinner we got the spicy rigatoni and the tonnarelli, the waiter let me swap the pasta shape of the Cacio e Pepe from tonnarelli to tagliatelle and it was a game changer, felt like it was melting in my mouth. On a weekend evening, my friend and I made a reservation to try Ospi Venice. After we sat down, I asked for a change of plates since mine was dirty. We tried their funghi pizza and malloreddus pasta. The funghi pizza was my personal favorite, and I loved the caramlized onion topping as it made the pizza a good combination of both savory and a little bit of sweet. The malloreddus pasta had a strong meat/beef cheek ragu taste, and it went well with the pasta. Served with vodka sauce, it's delicious when it's hot, never had this dish elsewhere. It comes with two of it. However, it started to get heavy after half piece of it. So consider getting a salad to pair with it. Perfect for 3-4 person to share I'd say, or prepare to have some leftover if it's just two of you. Pepe-roni Pizza (8.5/10): honestly I quite like this, it wasn't a lot of filling so it's not the super heavy kind of pizza. I prefer thin crust pizza over super "bread-y" pizzas, this pizza is airy yet the crust is very crisp and light. Yummy. (^ Would come back to try the Copione pizza TAGLIATELLE (7-8/10): My friend ordered it, I did try so I can't speak much for that looks good to me. This place is so cute! Super close to Venice beach so a great place for dinner after you've walked around the area. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Love the decor and the seats are comfortable but it was pretty loud inside so I'd probably seat outside next time. They do have bar seating as well. We made a reservation but it seemed like the wait wasn't too bad for a Friday night. The staff was so nice, greeted us when we came in and gave recommendations as we ordered. The drinks were delicious- especially the Inspirato cocktails. The meatballs and the bread that comes with it I would order just those, so good. Ospi Venice does a great job and I'm glad to have tried them at last. I had enjoyed restaurant Jemma di Mare in Brentwood and imagined their sister Ospi would also be a hit. Ospi is a bit more Americanized, and they do that very well. Spacious and gets crowded, so a reservation is a good idea. Fun cocktails and a variety of wines to choose from, if you're so inclined. The Chef's Negroni is a soothing, smoky and somewhat sweet cocktail that starts with cathedral mezcal. I loved it. We ordered a several dishes - and let's start by saying you must try the ricotta. 'Whipped cheese, sea salt' does not do it justice, but it's wonderful and perfect to share. The Beef Tartare is another winner, served with crispy potato and parm. It's pretty huge, and rich, and conveniently cut into pieces for easy sharing. The crunch potato chips on top are a nice finish. A creative take on a classic, purists might wonder what's going on, until they taste it. The Caesar is huge and great to share, too, as well as the Crispy Rhode Island Calamari. These are more in the department of comfortable staples, but are delicious crowdpleasers, nonetheless. Of the entrees we ordered, everyone seemed to like mine the most: Malloreddus (bbef cheek, ragu napoletano, thyme, toscano). It sounded a bit quirky, but inviting. The server gave it a bit thumbs up, so I'm glad to have ventured this way. Served over the small pasta pieces that you can watch being made closer to the front of the restaurant. The Lemon Tagliolini features lobster 'fry diavolo', basil and pistachio. Not too spicy, and the lobster and pasta were perfectly cooked. The cannelloni was perhaps the one entree that, while good, did not rise above 'just fine'. Perhaps the flavors were a bit toned down that night, or maybe overwhelmed by the gorgeous Sorrentina blanket of mozzarella, tomato sauce and basil. Dessert was good, and the DIY affogato was delicious. Noteworthy service, and a friendly sometimes boisterous energy in the restaurant help make for a fun dining experience. read more

Had a reservation for 9:00 and somehow still waited 25 minutes while there were multiple open tables. Food came out cold, so the provolone wasn't good. Seems like they premade it and had it sitting out for a while. Pizza was okay, pasta was actually good, so credit where it's due. Service was pretty bad, to be honest. Apparently, walking in with a group means signing a blood pact to each willingly drop $105. For what, you ask? A masterclass in culinary terrorism. The food is an aggressive masterclass in confusing "spicy" with "flavor." They must season their dishes with pure panic and crushed regrets. The fish was so tough I'm fairly certain it could survive a deep-sea trench unbothered, and the pasta was so lifeless, overly creamy, with a gross flavor like sour yogurt in its dimensions; it felt like eating a geometric proof designed by a depressed accountant. The service? The staff was nice enough, and hey, they actually knew the menu, which is the absolute bare-minimum magic trick that earned them their single, lonely star. As for the highlight of the evening: I am currently writing this from the trenches of my own bathroom, having spent my entire morning dropping a liquid mess in the porcelain pool and ruining my morning commute. I am never late, but I was today! There was a spinning windmill to get rid of the flies that we got rid of, and then flies did come to serve us. I have never once in my life been moved enough by digestive betrayal to drag a restaurant on Yelp, but congratulations to this establishment; you have unlocked a new level of rage in me. Avoid this place unless your stomach lining is made of Kevlar and you enjoy paying upwards of a hundred bucks for an unsolicited colon cleanse. We tried out Ospi in person finally after only ever ordering their spicy rigatoni via Uber eats lol. The place itself is nice inside, with plenty of seating. There's also metered street parking outside and at the time we went, it wasn't hard to find a space close by. We ordered this ricotta toast (DELICIOUS AND RICH), the ceasar salad (which wasn't really like a ceaser salad at all, but it was still good), spicy rigatoni (delicious; a classic), the meatballs (ehhh, it was okay), the cacio y pepe (good flavor but too al dente for my liking), and the crispy provalone (great!! tasted like a better version of a mozzarella stick). We were super full at the end of this feast. service was good. clean restrooms in the back of the restaurant. something cool is that you get to watch them make their noodles right in the dining area too!! all in all I would love to come back here again. read more

We were at Ospi for Mother's Day celebration. We started with the biscuit and kale salad. I'm a kale lover but this salad was one of the best I have had. Next was Copione pizza with a super thin crust and beautifully balanced sauce. Spicy Rigatoni was not spicy at all but delicious. I was a little disappointed by the Breakfast carbonara. Loved getting to eat outside here -- we had the outdoor area to ourselves even though the inside was quite busy. It did take a while to get service. But the server apologized and then was very attentive from that point forward. We ordered the Brussels, the kale salad and the spicy rigatoni. The Brussels were. "B" -- the kale salad was amazing and the star of the show was the spicy rigatoni with the vodka sauce. Delicious. The portions weren't huge but were plenty for the two of us. The vibes of the place were pretty good indoors, but I wouldn't come here if you want to do a dinner for 2. The tables were so close together I had to speak really loud in order to be heard by my friend. The larger tables with the booth seemed to be more comfortable but the tables in the middle section were just super close together. The other tables also had a little handle for purses which were neat but our table didn't have it which was a bummer. Our waitress was very nice and cut in at the perfect moments and checked in regularly. The food itself was good but nothing crazy. I honestly wish for the price of the calamari we got a little more, but it was still pretty good! Nothing really stood out as being absolutely amazing between the things we ordered, but if I had to pick one I really enjoyed it was the brussel sprouts. My first visit to Ospi was a few years ago when they had first opened in Venice. While the recommendations were strong, my experience was less than. That said, I always like to give grace to a newer restaurant understanding that they may be working through the "new restaurant" quirks. I moved to San Diego shortly thereafter, so it took me a while to make my way back, however, I finally made my way back on an LA weekend getaway.  We walked right in for lunch and were sat immediately with our choice of indoor or outdoor. I will say, the ambiance inside is a little lack luster, so we opted for the patio which in fairness... isn't much better. While no wait sometimes makes me nervous, especially given my first experience, I am happy to report that the food was exactly what I was hoping for. Given there were only two of us, we decided to order modestly and split one appetizer and two entrees  -- 1. Fried Provolone 2. Margherita Pizza 3. Spicy Rigatoni  All I have to say is, step aside mozzarella sticks!!! There's a new sheriff in town and its provolone. The fried provolone had to be one of my favorite appetizers I've had at an Italian restaurant. If you like cheese, this is for you. The portion size is generous with two full rounds, served with a side of their spicy vodka sauce.  The spicy vodka sauce is truly top notch. We enjoyed it so much on the provolone, it influenced our decision to order the spicy vodka rigatoni. The pasta was cooked beautifully, with a good bite to it. And while I'd say the pizza was the least impressive item we consumed, it was still by far one of the better pizzas we've had (and we've had a lot).  I'll admit our service/server was a bit odd, but she was attentive and kind - and that's really all I can ask for. We also ordered the Caesar salad, 1/2 Spicy Rigatoni- creamy sauce and semi thick noodles; we did order during happy hour so I think the 1/2 size is on the happy hour menu. We also ordered the Meatball Parm Fett'unta- this is served over a thick bread with meatball sauce and cheese. The meatballs were delicious. I also had a glass of their red blend. Second time at this location in the same month! It was very consistent and outstanding food. If you want good pasta, pizza and amazing apps come here! The ambiance is also very nice and warm. The service could be a bit more attentive but so can the rest of restaurants in LA- in comparison to LA they have good service food came out in a timely manner. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with nothing but smiles and great vibes. Jacob was an absolute pleasure and made us feel so welcome from start to finish. I give this place 5 stars because of the atmosphere, location, service and food. The Venice location has a nice hip vibe mixed with upscale vibe infused with cool beach-side vibes. I live nearby and the place stays packed on the inside. The 'covid' patio is always full as well and because of this, it's been on my list to try. The inside is spacious but was full so we sat at the bar. The service was wonderful. The bar area was nice with a lowered work area which seemed to put some distance between the bartenders and barbacks and those seated at the bar. Great setup. We had the Pepe-Roni pizza and the Beef Tartare. Both very pleasing. The pizza was different than the normal NY Style pepperoni or the napoletana style. I'm giving Ospi Venice 5 stars, but I do want to say it's more like 4.75. It was near perfect but I need to deduct and i'll tell you why. But in case you don't want to read my novel here's the TL;DR: Amazing anitpasti with meatballs and cauliflower, probably some of the best italian entrees i've ever had with the hot honey (copione) pizza and chicken parm, epic cocktails but disastrous dessert. Not enough to lose a whole star because that pizza and that parm were WOW but enough that I needed to talk about it. Great service, a little tight on the interior but still a stunning setting. Definitely going back. Details, Here we go: We did Ospi Venice for Dine LA! Pre-fixe menu, 3 courses and then cocktails. I love Dine LA, it's the perfect opportunity to experience a restaurant for the first time and for them to feature their best dishes and feature they did. Everyone knows with Dine LA, you and your friends all get something different and share, so for the first course we went with the Neopolitan Meatballs and the Cauliflower. We had heard excellent things about the crispy provolone, so add that to your list, but we wanted to be mindful of our cheese intake (adult things, you know?). The meatballs were spectacular - full of flavor and the very opposite of dry (trying not to use the "m" word. Spectacular start. The cauliflower was a nice surprise. They came in a sauce called "calbrian chili tahini" which was very good, made you forget you were eating cauliflower. The dates were a nice compliment, the sweet to the savory, I just wish they were more prominent in the dish because the flavors worked well together. For our entrees, we had one of the best hot honey pizzas i've ever had EVER and probably the best chicken parm I've ever had EVER. Their Capione Pizza was absolutely delicious. There's nothing more to say about that. The chicken parm surprised me and that's because you had to order the pasta as a side which i'm not used to. Usually when I get chicken parm, it automatically comes with spaghetti so I was confused....then it came out. This chicken parm is massive. How they cooked this beast of a dish without drying it out is beyond me, and yes...I know they flatten it...but he was a thick boyyy. Look at the pictures, I promise I'm not lying. Honestly, I'm going back to Ospi Venice for these two dishes. They were divine and totally eclipsed the bad part. Here's the bad part: Dearest Ospi Venice, My newest friends.... I know you had a surplus of cookies, and that's why you put them on the Dine LA menu, but to serve rock-hard room temperature cookies after that dining experience? No. You could've warmed them up... added ice cream and made them a-la-mode.. but you did not. It was such a let down after that spectacular meal. So disappointing. Luckily the Pizza and the Chicken Parm saved you. Cocktails were stunning. We had Orange wine and a Lusty Martini which were both so good, a second glass was necessary. Overall....excellent service, great atmosphere (a little tight but I get it), spectacular dinner if we ignore the disastrous cookie situation which we 100% should. Love this place right by the beach in Venice. I've only visited for apertivo hour a few times so I can usually find street parking, there's also a parking garage very close to the restaurant. Happy hour is the cheat code since it's not as crowded. By the end of happy bout the place is packed! My go to is one of the aperol spritz or the expresso martini. We typically order a ton of things and share it, my favs are the chili tahini cauliflower, the olives, almonds and fries, kale salad and the spicy rigatoni...everything is fresh, flavorful and well presented! read more

Get it in as many vessels as you can: pasta, pizza, provolone, etc. Reservations were pretty easy day-of for dinner on a weekend. Inside, the restaurant was lively and definitely crowded but fun. Here is what we ordered: Linguine: buttery and not overwhelmingly fishy at all. You can tell the fish is there but it doesn't demand attention. Milder, fresher flavor than the rigatoni Spicy rigatoni: can be not so spicy with chili flakes on side, which is what we opted to do. Sauce was great. The star of the show really is the vodka sauce. When we finished the rigatoni I started eating the vodka sauce by the spoon like a soup! Vodka pizza ($31): a good vehicle for more vodka sauce, but that is all it was for us. Super super thin crust, not like other pizzas. I was expecting thin, but I wasn't expecting this thin! It felt more like a flatbread. That being said, we did appreciate how light the pizza was, compared to the otherwise dense meal. They accommodated our spicy-phobic friend by putting the pickled Fresno chiles on one half of the pizza. That was nice. The chiles were like a spice bomb! My partner and I tried Ospi today and I think we may have caught them on a bad day. We were very excited to try their happy hour and looked forward to checking it out since we love Jemma. We requested to not be sandwiched between two other tables and were sat in a nice location. However, we were waiting for a while and no one was coming to take our order. I kept making eye contact with the host booth and they'd look away and they finally they said - "has no one helped you?" And I confirmed. We had a server come and they apologized, took our order and relayed that our server is on his break. We realized happy hour was ending and ordered more when the drinks were dropped off. To get extra condiments, I needed to flag someone after trying to get their attention. Although the food came quickly, no one checked on us the entire visit. We asked the gentleman clearing our plates to bring us the check and we paid on our phone and left. Hearing the server at the table next to us, they asked about allergies, were checking in on how things are going every step of the way, offering dessert and providing way more than the very basic service that we needed to request. I'm honestly shocked that we had this very poor service experience. As for food and drink, the Aperol spritz and cocktail flight was solid. Fries were really great. The vodka rigatoni had a nice kick to it and caesar salad and meatballs were really tasty. As you can see, food was great, and I highly recommend their happy hour. However, the service was just so poor and based on this experience, I'm not too sure that I'd ever dine at Ospi again! read more

Where Do I Begin? A Valentine's Birthday to Remember at Ospi Venice! Ospi Venice has officially earned a spot as one of my absolute favorite Italian restaurants in Los Angeles. My foodie son introduced me to this gem on my Valentine's birthday in 2024, and I was completely blown away. From that first visit, it became a must-return spot for our date nights and Venice outings. Even from the street, Ospi had that vibe--a perfect mix of upscale yet relaxed, stylish yet approachable, with an energy that seemed to spill right out onto the sidewalk. Inside, the restaurant was buzzing--packed with fellow food lovers soaking in the Valentine's Day magic. They offered a pre-fixe menu for the evening, but in true Ospi fashion, it was thoughtfully curated to allow personal choices. I loved that balance--it helps with the evening's flow but still lets diners feel in charge of their own experience. For this special dinner, I let my son take the lead in ordering (as he never steers us wrong), and WOW--he nailed it. To kick things off, every table was welcomed with a glass of pink champagne (how perfect is that for a Valentine's birthday girl?), along with their ricotta fett'unta and black truffle arancini--a dreamy start. My son then rounded out our antipasti with Crispy Provolone, Kale Salad, Neapolitan Meatballs, and Japanese Eggplant. Each dish was more flavorful and addictive than the last--we were in foodie heaven. Our drinks flowed into a round of delicious wine and Negroni cocktails, perfectly timed with our Chicken Parm, Branzino Filet, and Raschiatelli for the main courses. Tapas-style is how our family rolls, and even with personal plates, we shared it all. Every bite was next-level good--Ospi just gets it. Our server was upbeat, knowledgeable, and timed everything to perfection. We never had to wait, yet never felt rushed--a perfect rhythm. I especially loved the open-air kitchen, where we could watch the chefs in action--it added such life and energy to the room and added to the feeling that you're part of something special here. And on the wall? The cutest pink neon sign that read, "feed me pasta & tell me I'm pretty." As someone celebrating her Valentine's birthday in a pink dress, let's just say I felt seen. And of course--dessert. We did it up right with Lemon Budino, Nutella Mousse, and Cannoli, all shared among us. My birthday candle came tucked into the mousse, just in time for my family to break into song. (And yes, if my wish had been for an unforgettable meal filled with love and laughter, it came true right then and there.) Longggg wait but super worth it. I'm afraid we were a little hangry, which was quickly remediated by a margarita pizza and 4 glasses of champagne on the house (thanks Ospi!). It was very busy at 8:30pm on a Friday, but the ambience was great--dimmer lighting and great service. We ordered a lot. Started with crispy provolone and kale salad. The kale salad I can't recommend enough, definitely try it. Mains we had the Raschiatelli, vodka sauce pasta, and chicken parm. The Raschiatelli was my favorite of the pastas--perfect chew and crunch pairing. The chicken parm was also sooo good. Def try this place if you have the patience to wait for a table!! read more
