Ospi Venice does a great job and I'm glad to have tried them at last. I had enjoyed restaurant Jemma di Mare in Brentwood and imagined their sister Ospi would also be a hit. Ospi is a bit more Americanized, and they do that very well. Spacious and gets crowded, so a reservation is a good idea. Fun cocktails and a variety of wines to choose from, if you're so inclined. The Chef's Negroni is a soothing, smoky and somewhat sweet cocktail that starts with cathedral mezcal. I loved it. We ordered a several dishes - and let's start by saying you must try the ricotta. 'Whipped cheese, sea salt' does not do it justice, but it's wonderful and perfect to share. The Beef Tartare is another winner, served with crispy potato and parm. It's pretty huge, and rich, and conveniently cut into pieces for easy sharing. The crunch potato chips on top are a nice finish. A creative take on a classic, purists might wonder what's going on, until they taste it. The Caesar is huge and great to share, too, as well as the Crispy Rhode Island Calamari. These are more in the department of comfortable staples, but are delicious crowdpleasers, nonetheless. Of the entrees we ordered, everyone seemed to like mine the most: Malloreddus (bbef cheek, ragu napoletano, thyme, toscano). It sounded a bit quirky, but inviting. The server gave it a bit thumbs up, so I'm glad to have ventured this way. Served over the small pasta pieces that you can watch being made closer to the front of the restaurant. The Lemon Tagliolini features lobster 'fry diavolo', basil and pistachio. Not too spicy, and the lobster and pasta were perfectly cooked. The cannelloni was perhaps the one entree that, while good, did not rise above 'just fine'. Perhaps the flavors were a bit toned down that night, or maybe overwhelmed by the gorgeous Sorrentina blanket of mozzarella, tomato sauce and basil. Dessert was good, and the DIY affogato was delicious. Noteworthy service, and a friendly sometimes boisterous energy in the restaurant help make for a fun dining experience. read more

Had a reservation for 9:00 and somehow still waited 25 minutes while there were multiple open tables. Food came out cold, so the provolone wasn't good. Seems like they premade it and had it sitting out for a while. Pizza was okay, pasta was actually good, so credit where it's due. Service was pretty bad, to be honest. We waited another 25 minutes just to get someone for the check. She seemed like she'd rather be anywhere else, and disappeared. Overall, for the price, it felt pretty underwhelming. We were at Ospi for Mother's Day celebration. We started with the biscuit and kale salad. I'm a kale lover but this salad was one of the best I have had. Next was Copione pizza with a super thin crust and beautifully balanced sauce. Spicy Rigatoni was not spicy at all but delicious. I was a little disappointed by the Breakfast carbonara. We tried out Ospi in person finally after only ever ordering their spicy rigatoni via Uber eats lol. The place itself is nice inside, with plenty of seating. There's also metered street parking outside and at the time we went, it wasn't hard to find a space close by. We ordered this ricotta toast (DELICIOUS AND RICH), the ceasar salad (which wasn't really like a ceaser salad at all, but it was still good), spicy rigatoni (delicious; a classic), the meatballs (ehhh, it was okay), the cacio y pepe (good flavor but too al dente for my liking), and the crispy provalone (great!! tasted like a better version of a mozzarella stick). Loved getting to eat outside here -- we had the outdoor area to ourselves even though the inside was quite busy. It did take a while to get service. But the server apologized and then was very attentive from that point forward. We ordered the Brussels, the kale salad and the spicy rigatoni. The Brussels were. "B" -- the kale salad was amazing and the star of the show was the spicy rigatoni with the vodka sauce. Delicious. The portions weren't huge but were plenty for the two of us. Normally we have so much left over when going out for Italian. Not the case here which was good since we are on vacation and don't want to be wasteful. The vibes of the place were pretty good indoors, but I wouldn't come here if you want to do a dinner for 2. The tables were so close together I had to speak really loud in order to be heard by my friend. The larger tables with the booth seemed to be more comfortable but the tables in the middle section were just super close together. The other tables also had a little handle for purses which were neat but our table didn't have it which was a bummer. Our waitress was very nice and cut in at the perfect moments and checked in regularly. The food itself was good but nothing crazy. I honestly wish for the price of the calamari we got a little more, but it was still pretty good! Nothing really stood out as being absolutely amazing between the things we ordered, but if I had to pick one I really enjoyed it was the brussel sprouts. The perfect place to go for consistent food but be wary of overcooked pasta. My go to order is the spicy rigatoni, which is always cooked perfectly. The last time I went to Ospi, I tried the lobster lemon tagliolini and the pasta was extremelty overcooked and barely had any lobster - which is so disappointing for such a pricey dish. The steak was perfectly cooked and the arugula salad added the perfect amount of freshness to our dishes. Decided to come back here and try this place again after a subpar first experience and was pleasantly surprised with how much better everything was from the food to the staff. Special shoutout to the manager D'Andrew for ensuring customers have a great experience. Ambiance outside was really nice. They have heaters for when it's a bit chillier. Waiter was super friendly and attentive despite having to cover so many tables. Food: Raschiatelli: 11/10 Not what I was expecting in the best way. The meat was so tenter, the breadcrumbs added a nice crunch, and the noodles were delicious. Perfectly cooked and the cheesy sauce was a great flavor. Highly recommend this dish more than anything!! Garlic Bread: 8/10 Good starter but not very garlicky. Japanese Eggplant: 8.5/10 Nice spicy sauce and I love eggplant. Very good dish! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with nothing but smiles and great vibes. Jacob was an absolute pleasure and made us feel so welcome from start to finish. My first visit to Ospi was a few years ago when they had first opened in Venice. While the recommendations were strong, my experience was less than. That said, I always like to give grace to a newer restaurant understanding that they may be working through the "new restaurant" quirks. I moved to San Diego shortly thereafter, so it took me a while to make my way back, however, I finally made my way back on an LA weekend getaway.  We walked right in for lunch and were sat immediately with our choice of indoor or outdoor. I will say, the ambiance inside is a little lack luster, so we opted for the patio which in fairness... isn't much better. While no wait sometimes makes me nervous, especially given my first experience, I am happy to report that the food was exactly what I was hoping for. Given there were only two of us, we decided to order modestly and split one appetizer and two entrees  -- 1. Fried Provolone 2. Margherita Pizza 3. Spicy Rigatoni  All I have to say is, step aside mozzarella sticks!!! There's a new sheriff in town and its provolone. The fried provolone had to be one of my favorite appetizers I've had at an Italian restaurant. If you like cheese, this is for you. The portion size is generous with two full rounds, served with a side of their spicy vodka sauce.  The spicy vodka sauce is truly top notch. We enjoyed it so much on the provolone, it influenced our decision to order the spicy vodka rigatoni. The pasta was cooked beautifully, with a good bite to it. And while I'd say the pizza was the least impressive item we consumed, it was still by far one of the better pizzas we've had (and we've had a lot).  I'll admit our service/server was a bit odd, but she was attentive and kind - and that's really all I can ask for. Capione Pizza was 10/10 it is a very thin crust pizza - very crispy and spicy. We also ordered the Caesar salad, 1/2 Spicy Rigatoni- creamy sauce and semi thick noodles; we did order during happy hour so I think the 1/2 size is on the happy hour menu. We also ordered the Meatball Parm Fett'unta- this is served over a thick bread with meatball sauce and cheese. The meatballs were delicious. I also had a glass of their red blend. The service could be a bit more attentive but so can the rest of restaurants in LA- in comparison to LA they have good service food came out in a timely manner. All the pasta is house mad and it's delish!!! I do not feel like I'm super stuffed and heavy even after eating a lot either which is great! Eating any processed carbs usually doesn't go well with me but this spot feels like all the ingredients are fresh! My fav dish is the japanease eggplant, literally so good and unique! I give this place 5 stars because of the atmosphere, location, service and food. The Venice location has a nice hip vibe mixed with upscale vibe infused with cool beach-side vibes. I live nearby and the place stays packed on the inside. The 'covid' patio is always full as well and because of this, it's been on my list to try. The inside is spacious but was full so we sat at the bar. The service was wonderful. The bar area was nice with a lowered work area which seemed to put some distance between the bartenders and barbacks and those seated at the bar. Great setup. We had the Pepe-Roni pizza and the Beef Tartare. Both very pleasing. The pizza was different than the normal NY Style pepperoni or the napoletana style. I'm giving Ospi Venice 5 stars, but I do want to say it's more like 4.75. It was near perfect but I need to deduct and i'll tell you why. But in case you don't want to read my novel here's the TL;DR: Amazing anitpasti with meatballs and cauliflower, probably some of the best italian entrees i've ever had with the hot honey (copione) pizza and chicken parm, epic cocktails but disastrous dessert. Not enough to lose a whole star because that pizza and that parm were WOW but enough that I needed to talk about it. Great service, a little tight on the interior but still a stunning setting. Definitely going back. Details, Here we go: We did Ospi Venice for Dine LA! Pre-fixe menu, 3 courses and then cocktails. I love Dine LA, it's the perfect opportunity to experience a restaurant for the first time and for them to feature their best dishes and feature they did. Everyone knows with Dine LA, you and your friends all get something different and share, so for the first course we went with the Neopolitan Meatballs and the Cauliflower. We had heard excellent things about the crispy provolone, so add that to your list, but we wanted to be mindful of our cheese intake (adult things, you know?). The meatballs were spectacular - full of flavor and the very opposite of dry (trying not to use the "m" word. Spectacular start. The cauliflower was a nice surprise. They came in a sauce called "calbrian chili tahini" which was very good, made you forget you were eating cauliflower. The dates were a nice compliment, the sweet to the savory, I just wish they were more prominent in the dish because the flavors worked well together. For our entrees, we had one of the best hot honey pizzas i've ever had EVER and probably the best chicken parm I've ever had EVER. Their Capione Pizza was absolutely delicious. There's nothing more to say about that. The chicken parm surprised me and that's because you had to order the pasta as a side which i'm not used to. Usually when I get chicken parm, it automatically comes with spaghetti so I was confused....then it came out. This chicken parm is massive. How they cooked this beast of a dish without drying it out is beyond me, and yes...I know they flatten it...but he was a thick boyyy. Look at the pictures, I promise I'm not lying. Honestly, I'm going back to Ospi Venice for these two dishes. They were divine and totally eclipsed the bad part. Here's the bad part: Dearest Ospi Venice, My newest friends.... I know you had a surplus of cookies, and that's why you put them on the Dine LA menu, but to serve rock-hard room temperature cookies after that dining experience? No. You could've warmed them up... added ice cream and made them a-la-mode.. but you did not. It was such a let down after that spectacular meal. So disappointing. Luckily the Pizza and the Chicken Parm saved you. Cocktails were stunning. We had Orange wine and a Lusty Martini which were both so good, a second glass was necessary. Love this place right by the beach in Venice. I've only visited for apertivo hour a few times so I can usually find street parking, there's also a parking garage very close to the restaurant. Happy hour is the cheat code since it's not as crowded. By the end of happy bout the place is packed! My go to is one of the aperol spritz or the expresso martini. Come here for the vodka sauce, and stay for the vodka sauce. The vodka sauce is the star of the show here! Get it in as many vessels as you can: pasta, pizza, provolone, etc. Reservations were pretty easy day-of for dinner on a weekend. Inside, the restaurant was lively and definitely crowded but fun. Here is what we ordered: Linguine: buttery and not overwhelmingly fishy at all. You can tell the fish is there but it doesn't demand attention. Milder, fresher flavor than the rigatoni Spicy rigatoni: can be not so spicy with chili flakes on side, which is what we opted to do. Sauce was great. The star of the show really is the vodka sauce. When we finished the rigatoni I started eating the vodka sauce by the spoon like a soup! Vodka pizza ($31): a good vehicle for more vodka sauce, but that is all it was for us. Super super thin crust, not like other pizzas. I was expecting thin, but I wasn't expecting this thin! It felt more like a flatbread. That being said, we did appreciate how light the pizza was, compared to the otherwise dense meal. They accommodated our spicy-phobic friend by putting the pickled Fresno chiles on one half of the pizza. That was nice. The chiles were like a spice bomb! I don't think the pizza was worth the price, given how small and simple it was. I was happy to try this new Venice staple and now I finally understand the hype. The vodka sauce is really good! Our waiter was very friendly and even offered us the happy hour menu, which included half portions of a few items we were planning to order from the dinner menu. We ordered the kale salad, rigatoni, cacio e pepe, and the crispy provolone. Unfortunately, the food came out really cold. The only dish we genuinely enjoyed was the kale salad. I'm not sure what went wrong, but it was disappointing, especially since pasta is what this place is known for. Where Do I Begin? A Valentine's Birthday to Remember at Ospi Venice! Ospi Venice has officially earned a spot as one of my absolute favorite Italian restaurants in Los Angeles. My foodie son introduced me to this gem on my Valentine's birthday in 2024, and I was completely blown away. From that first visit, it became a must-return spot for our date nights and Venice outings. Even from the street, Ospi had that vibe--a perfect mix of upscale yet relaxed, stylish yet approachable, with an energy that seemed to spill right out onto the sidewalk. For this special dinner, I let my son take the lead in ordering (as he never steers us wrong), and WOW--he nailed it. To kick things off, every table was welcomed with a glass of pink champagne (how perfect is that for a Valentine's birthday girl?), along with their ricotta fett'unta and black truffle arancini--a dreamy start. Delightful patio experience. Party of 3 on a Saturday at 6pm for a friends birthday Heaters were on, service was prompt and the offerings were excellent. We ordered 4 different items: First, the sausage pizza with caramelized onions--the pizza was tasty--thin crust, fresh toppings and the Fresno chili was a nice touch. We were encouraged to order the kale salad and it was delicious. Everything meshed together well, the kale was well marinated and everything chopped the same size made the salad lovely. How do you go from five stars to one. Start with the portion size. I've been coming here for over three years and have told many people about this place. I went today to get the spaghetti pomodoro which I've had over ten times.(great sauce will always bring me back) Anyway they changed it from spaghetti to capellini which is okay, though I do prefer the spaghetti. My favorites were the biscuits and kale salad with chicken; the spicy rigatoni was simple but flavorful; my least favorites were the copione pizza and lemon ricotta pancakes (not bad, but didn't stand out either). Great meal. Had heard the name but was pleasantly surprised by the quality, and now I'm mad I didn't come here sooner. We went for a light dinner and drinks, with the kale caesar, cauliflower, and the special corn pillow pasta thing, with a glass of Pinot and the Hot Girl Summer to drink. The food was excellent, but the corn pasta was next level. I had to remind myself to hold conversation instead of just shoving them in my face. The kale salad was good enough to eat every day - fresh produce, great flavors. I didn't love the Hot Girl Summer and will try a different cocktail next time. Not bad. Very disappointed considering the average star rating. The food was OK; Italian food is generally a dime a dozen unless you find a gem and this one was not. What was so disappointing was the service and the culture of the staff. I sat at the bar this evening. I was never greeted, meanwhile two young men were very busy cleaning glasses and doing their part. A young lady was with a clipboard seemingly doing inventory. About 10 minutes in I asked for help and she came up to me. She handed me a menu and walked away back to her clipboard. About another 5-10 minutes in I finally asked if there was someone who would be serving me and she said she would. I mentioned that if she was too busy with inventory that I could work with someone else and she acknowledged that it was no problem and she would help. I placed my food order and it was delivered by kitchen staff. She never once came back to follow up. I had to ask the men cleaning glasses to give me water refills. I finished my meal and again, never, ever had anyone follow up. She had apparently left her clipboard and was in the kitchen using her phone. I finally had to ask another young man to check me out. I noticed this was similar in the main dining room. Rarely saw wait staff roaming. Instead, many were huddled in the kitchen laughing and having a good time. Considering that several Italian restaurants nearby had similar ratings, I do not recommend going to Ospi Venice. read more

This place was so good! I looooved the Japanese eggplant and vodka pizza. The crispy provolone with the vodka sauce was sooo good I could drink that vodka sauce. I seriously need to buy a jar next time I go, which I will definitely come back! Im knocking off one star because service was just okay and we still waited a long time (over 30 minutes) for our table even though we had a reservation but the food made up for it! This place was truly chefs kiss - 10/10 on everything!! They had a special deal going on right now for $45 per person app, main and dessert. We tried the Neopolitan Meatballs, Kale Salad, Spicy Rigatoni and Chicken Parm. Honestly, everything was great. The kale salad had such great textures and perfect flavor combo. I personally don't like cilantro, but I didn't feel like it was overpowering. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and we loved that the chicken parm had the vodka sauce on it. For dessert, we got the Chocolate Chip Cookies. We do wish those were served warm, but we just brought them home instead and popped them in the air fryer! read more

Visited over the weekend and they are busy but the food was worth the wait. The restaurant is in a great location close to many bars around the area to get a drink while you wait. The inside of this place was beautiful and the vibes were high. Each of their pasta dishes were delicious while the pizzas were a bit of a let down. Can never go wrong with a kale Caesar. I have only been here 1 time. This is what we ordered: Spicy rigatoni with roasted chicken Copione Pizza Kale Salad Tagliatelle Bolognese Calamari Tiramisu Brownie All in all, I really enjoyed the meal here. The highlights for me were the kale salad (super refreshing with a great dressing) and the spicy rigatoni. The house made pasta made a huge difference in taste and texture. The pizza is super thin like a Neapolitan and it was really good along with the tagliatelle bolognese. The calamari was OK - it was neutral for me as was the tiramisu. The brownie on the other hand was a great way to round out this meal. Our server was attentive and gave us some good recommendations on amount of dishes we did family style and the type of pasta to try. Would for sure recommend! read more
