Pepe's Tacos is a decent neighborhood Mexican restaurant. I ordered the Supreme Burrito with Al Pastor. It was tasty and very filling. The salsa was a little too spicy for me to really enjoy, and the guacamole was more of a liquid than mashed avocados. My husband found this place one day to pick-up burritos after his soccer game. Since that day this place has been our go-to for burritos when we don't feel like cooking or our schedules are busy. This really is a miracle because my husband and I have different opinions on what a burrito should taste like (I like the SoCal version of burritos, he likes the NorCal versions). Somehow this place works for both of us and never disappoints. Their burritos are MASSIVE and are a pretty great deal considering I can get a dinner AND 2 lunch meals out of one burrito. For comparison, my husband gets 1 lunch leftover so depending on your size and appetite you may get more or less leftovers. But the burritos are so huge that we don't bother to try and pick them up - we go straight for the fork and knife lol We typically get chicken as our meat of choice and I will sometimes add lettuce and beans in mine. I only know them for takeout. I went to a football playoff watching party and we got food from Pepe's. Everyone liked it. I've passed the place and it looks like easy parking. Good Mexican takeout. I got a wet burrito, which was very good and too much for me to eat. I'm a light eater. So I put the remainder in my friends freezer, even though he told me not to. I'm going to his house for the Superbowl. I wonder if my half burrito will still be there. read more

Food is good. Very good flavors and quality of food is high. But I don't understand why every time I go the wait is ridiculously long compared to restaurants that serve the same food. I had to wait basically a half hour from the time in ordered to the time I got my food and all I got was 1 burrito! I had to shove it down my throat to make it back to work on time. Order ahead. OMG, this is the best burrito I've ever had in my life. Everything about it is perfect lots of meat, delicious ripe avocado inside, and caramelized onions. And while I was waiting for my order, they treated me to freshly made corn chips and homemade salsa, which were so good. Delicious burrito. This hole in the wall tucked inside a strip mall is exactly what I look for when I'm craving Mexican food. The carne asada they use is so tender and flavorful. Got the California burrito ($14) and you get your moneys worth, it's massive. Staff is super friendly and attentive. Pros: Tortilla is solid/grilled, cheese is plentiful and melty, guac is good. Cons: Um...the carne asada isn't steak? It's like a pulled beef texture and taste OK. They clearly use a super cheap cut and pass it off as "carne asada" but it def isn't steak. This is your local neighbor authentic as it gets mexican food. It's located in a little strip mall easy to find yet easy to miss because it's right off the intersection. This place has been here or years and it never disappoints. The service is friendly and the food is delicious. It's a small place with minimal inside seating. It's clean. I've been laid up recovering from a major surgery recently. So I've been making a point to order from a lot of the local restaurants. Mexican food is my comfort food go to so I've been hitting up all of the locals. I ordered the posole and the albondigas soup. Albondigas: the broth was thicker and richer than a lot of others. It was generously filled with the meatballs and plenty of vegetables. You get a large container and it's absolutely delicious. Posole: again, the broth was very thick and Rich. They might thicken it with tortilla chips, which is a common thing, but the flavors are there. Large chunks of slow cooked pork. Very good lean chunks that are fall apart tender. No grizzly bits or extra extraneous fat. Was absolutely a pleasure to eat and hit every single spot. Overall, this place is a fantastic little gem. The homemade flour tortillas just add an extra little delight to the entire meal. I couldn't be happier than to have this place in my backyard. I discovered Pepe's through one of the delivery services about 3 months ago. I've ordered 5 or 6 times now and the food has always been PERFECTION. I typically order a tamales combo, a taco combo and a burrito (I like a variety) and yes that's all for me. It'll feed me all day for 2-3 days. Not only is their food great but so is their service and extras. There's always 3-4 different salsas included and 1 of them is a huge container. I've asked for changes such as substituting fish tacos for their standard options and they've never complained or charged extra. ALSO, their prices are still reasonable, unlike many of the local spots. 5 stars for sure! read more

Come here for the food. Stay for Pepe! I'd always driven by this place & finally ventured in. Pepe is the sweetest man. The menu is expansive and you can't go wrong with anything you order here. It being my first time, I got one of everything haha A few tacos. An enchilada side order. And the Baileys Flan--comes highly recommended by Pepe! My favorite Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles! It's a small intimate spot but better than most full sized places. Its family owned and they are so nice and welcoming. You feel like you're invited to someones home for dinner. I've been going there for at least 15 years. They already know my order, which is the small beef tostadas.... OMG sooooo good! Decided to try a new local Mexican spot and stumbled upon Pepe's and are glad we did. My boyfriend and I both got the California burrito which was amazing. The carne asada was full of flavor and not fatty, which we loved as the meat was great quality. The burrito itself was flavorful and we liked the guacamole. In the future I'd probably choose a burrito with the usual rice and beans for myself but thought I'd give the Cali burrito a try and did love it. It also came with a ton of tortilla chips and a cup of salsa. The chips were great and the salad was amazing but sooooo spicy. We had wished there were more salsa options as this one was a little too spicy for us, shocking since we both love spice. But would love an option for pico or a creamier sauce to put on top. This is a true locals place every person that came in was greeted by name when they came in. I ordered the vegetarian burrito which as you ca. see in the picture was filled to the max! And a bonus was that all the ingredients were evenly spread out. Burrito tasted super fresh and ingredients were tasty. Delicious Mexican food in a tiny restaurant/taqueria located in west LA. Because of the size, there's not much in terms of ambiance. If it's not busy, it is a fun place to sit inside and have your food right away, but definitely a great place for takeout. The folks behind the counter, or super friendly, enthusiastic, and very helpful. The menu is straightforward, but covers a lot of what feels like the usual good stuff. I've been here a few times, but on my most recent visit, I ordered the chili verde burrito. Super tasty, and it was pretty massive. It came with tortilla chips and a cup of their salsa, which is also very tasty. The parking lot is pretty small and cramped. I parked around the block and just walked here. There could be plenty of street parking, but it is a busy street in West LA. Just a fantastic spot if you want to get some no-frills delicious, Mexican food. This is a local gem, del Rey area. Parking limited and a little uncomfortable. Small interior with just 5 tables and some outside as well. Friendly staff and every customer service forward. Love the energy in the place and will come back for an Al pastor torta which I found to be my go-to from here now. Holy Moly Guacamole, Pepe's Taco is a hidden gem for West LA breakfast burritos. Went with the traditional breakfast burrito half with chorizo half (split with a friend) and they are both hearty choices. The chorizo is flavorful and the breakfast is so filling but does require some salsa. The service is superb for a small business. Very welcoming. Small parking lot in front. When I asked the valet attendant, he kept saying, "because you dined there," without giving any clear explanation. Second, when I got into my car, I noticed that someone had touched the navigation settings because the compass direction and display were different from what I normally use. I do not understand why there was any need to adjust or touch my navigation system at all. I really think the restaurant needs to improve and better manage its valet parking system. Honestly, it felt like I was being charged a random price just because I was told, "you dined there." If there is a flat valet rate for restaurant guests, that information should be clearly communicated upfront instead of leaving customers confused at the end.

The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. Hollenbeck was good but I definitely enjoyed the Okie burrito more, I ordered the "original" size once and didn't seem to learn my lesson the second time, these burritos can feed two in Original size. They offer a "Mini" version which would be satisfactory for one person. My favorite thing about these burritos is how "home-made" they are, the salsas and meats are fresh and taste like they came out of an abuelitas kitchen. I still need to try the crunchy tacos and nachos which look great, I recommend trying this classic establishment at least once if you're in the area.
