This review is based on the empanadas ordered fresh to go. My husband was taking a stroll in the area with the kiddo and decided to stop by and pick up some empanadas. He got the 6 pack of ham, mushroom and spinach, and onion and cheese. They were really tasty and came with chimichurri. I tried the spinach/mushroom with the chimi, the crust was fresh and the mushroom and spinach filling was full of flavor. I am totally looking forward to dining in. I managed to snap a picture before they were devoured l, not the best shot but I'll make sure to take better ones when we dine in.

Cool vibes as you approach Fuegos. Free Fuss-ball in the parking lot! Dining room is a converted tattoo shop that feels like West Hollywood!

My daughter and I stopped by for lunch to celebrate my birthday and I am so glad we did. Max hosted us and we had the most amazing lunch, 4 different empanadas -- try the spicy breakfast one! -- and the brownie ice cream dessert to share. A perfect lunch with the best service, music and atmosphere. 10 stars out of 5!

As someone who isn't really into bar culture, I appreciated that this felt like a bar with culture. The beef is sourced from Argentina, and you can absolutely taste the quality. I had the chance to meet one of the owners, Max, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming; that personal touch really added to the experience. I had such a great experience here! The vibe was on point: aesthetically pleasing, good energy, and a great place to meet people. Already looking forward to coming back for more of the beef empanadas and beef milanesa sandwiches again. 10/10! Thank me later y'all!

I had high hopes for this newly opened, quirky Argentinian spot. Argentinians are masters of grilled beef, and chimichurri, so my expectations were high. 5/5 = outside skirt steak + beef empanada + chimichurri + frozen raspberry The steak was tender with just a touch of chew. Outside skirt is a richer cut, and the bright, tangy chimichurri perfectly balances the intense beefy flavor and fat. The beef empanada was excellent, saucy, smooth filling wrapped in a flaky shell. Frozen raspberries are a fun treat. Wrapped in a chocolate shell and mixed with bits of ice cream, the berries still manage to let their unique flavor shine through. It's a layered yet cohesive experience, refreshing, balanced, and genuinely enjoyable. I loved their shrimp too, but my experience with the fries and bread made me question how fresh they were (even though the shrimp tasted good). 0/5 fries and bread. The fries were extremely stale, honestly tasted like frozen fries reheated at home. The bread was worse. One piece wasn't even properly heated. The outside was lukewarm, while the inside was rock-hard and ice cold. I did enjoy the quiet and eccentric dining room. And service is pretty attentive. However, I don't think it's worth a 30 min drive to visit. Maybe I'd consider pack many empanada to go though

Typically, you find unique dining experiences like this one in DTLA, but this one happens to be in the heart of South Central. I stumbled upon this diamond while avoiding the long line at Paseo San Miguel. I visited on a Sunday late afternoon, so there was no wait and no hard time finding parking. At first glance, it looked like two different joints, but they happened to be the same restaurant. The glass doors furthest to the north side of the building seem to be where the kitchen is located, as well as the takeout station. The cashier, who was also one of the co-owners, let us know to walk right in next door. We were greeted by the other owner, and he was very welcoming. The service staff were attentive; they had earpieces in, and it felt like we were in a production setting. The seating is a bit tight, especially for someone with an ass like mine. All the chairs and tables were different, kind of like a refurbishing vibe. There was a piano with melted wax on it, I mean, it was nothing like I've seen. I had never had an Argentine potato, egg, caramelized onion deep dish before; it's tasty and heavy on the onions. The burger was my favorite, definitely exploring more of those next time. Also, the empanadas are a must! They're expanding the space and eventually taking over the lot.

Oh baby, great Argentinian food has arrived in Los Angeles! Thanks to the Gramercy Block Club for the stellar endorsement. The empanadas were amazing! We got about 6 to try as an appetizer. I settled on the skirt steak, and it was great and very tasty. The service was top-notch, and the decor was super fun and great if you wanted to take a date here! Will come back again!

Bruv! I can't believe how good their food is. I have to recommend it , it is worth the drive and the restaurant is a vibe. Max took really good care of us. Bravo! I'm coming back !!!

Ahhh this place is so good. And so cute, wow! Nice, dinner date vibes, nice soft music. Full bar and cool specialty sodas. Such good vibes and I loved everything, which is not said lightly. I'm so picky. We got this dolce de Leche ice cream I got it that they make in house. So rich and they add the perfect amount of salt. So good. People are really cool. All work in entertainment and the owners are set designers which is so obvious walking into the place honestly. lol cool vibes all around.

3 of visited for the first time. The server welcomed us warmly, apologized for what looked like chaos (they host tango every 3rd Thursday and so they clear out tables) and then gave us his recommendations when it came time to order. We ordered a variety of things to try and share. Everything was flavorful and delicious except for maybe the asado. It was wel grilled but just lacked a little seasoning compared to what I'm usually used to. Disclaimer though...I did not eat it with the chimichurri which probably would have paired nicely with the less seasoned meat. But the Spanish Chorizo was amazing!! Overall the place was unique, owner and wait staff were super friendly and hospitable, and it was just a generally different vibe than i expected when someone says we're having "argentinian" for dinner. I would definitely go back to try their other pizzas and empanadas.

I like the concept of the 'pink' salad--lots of pinkish things like radishes, radicchio, grapefruit, red onion, red (black) rice turned into a salad. It's hard for the colors to show through since the lighting is also pink! It's decent sized and goes along well with the (small) choripan. Looking forward to having some empanadas.

Soooo tasty and packed with meat. Will definitely be back and love that it's so close to home!

Unfortunately, I'm sad to say that my experience was far different than the others here. I placed a pick up order over the phone, the person I spoke to was fantastic and I was super excited to try a spot close to home. I actually didn't know about this place until my Amex platinum offered a special on restaurants who are part of the Resy network. I don't normally explore this side of town so I was enthusiastic about this place. I went on Yelp and the pictures looked amazing & the reviews were phenomenal. However, my experience ended up being opposite. First, I should mention that the area is still a bit sketchy. S LA is gentrifying but this area still has some time before any major changes. Their shared parking lot is super small so it's likely you'll have to grab street parking which should be easy in the neighborhood but I'm not sure I'd be too comfortable going late in the evening. For my pick up, I went to the side door which was open. I'm not sure what happened but my experience with service wasn't positive. They brought out the food and basically disappeared. I paid for the order on my own, checked to make sure the order was correct meanwhile everyone was running around, nobody checked on me, thanked me or said good bye. It was a really strange experience and quite off putting.. I've tried several different empanadas at various restaurants in the area and these were my least favorite. I've also traveled to Argentina and experienced the best empanadas in my life and these didn't compare. For the price point of $5, they were small and the flavors were just ok. I was also annoyed they provided one tiny container of chimichurri which was also just ok. I also got the ham/cheese medialuna which was like a mini croissant sandwich and it too was just ok. For those with a sweet tooth chocolate croissant with Dulce de leche, for $8, it missed the mark. I think my order was just thrown together and it looked messy which wasn't a good start. But based on other reviews, they seem to offer some nice events in the evening, service is good inside the restaurant and unsure if my experience was a one off bad day. But at the end of the day, it was my experience, I wasn't happy and unsure if I'll go back.

Karen F.

Former coworker selected this place as a place to meet for lunch and it was a very surprisingly delicious choice. Headed to the shopfront that had the restaurant name, but it was in another shop. The service was super friendly and food was very tasty. It was an eclectic design pathetic, but not in a bad way.

I finally was able to check it off, thanks to a hotel offer with a dining credit. Dahlia is the gorgeous petite space behind the larger ground floor restaurant space now called Cabrillo (formerly Caldo Verde). Dahlia opened as a bespoke cocktail lounge, then began to offer tea. Now it's just tea. There are five 2-tops and two 4-top tables. All food and beverage venues at the Proper used to be under the auspices of famed chef Suzanne Goin and her business partner/sommelier Caroline Styne. They are no longer affiliated with the Proper, but many of their dishes/contributions remain. The last named vestige of them is on the tea menu, "Suzanne's Deviled-Egg Sandwich". The tea menu has several options: Classic, with a seasonal mocktail, or with different champagnes. I opted for the Classic experience, because the mocktail had mocha, not my fave. Server Lluvia was clearly a Dahlia veteran; she offered a tea-smelling of all the teas that interested me as well as crowd favourites. I ultimately chose one of these faves, Mad Hatter's Tea Party, which had passionfruit and vanilla. I declined milk/cream, but did get lemon. There were rock sugar sticks on the table. It seems the selection of tea sandwiches and sweet treats changes every so often, although the vanilla bean scone, dried currant scone, Devonshire cream and apricot orange jam seem like constants. The sandwich selection at my visit were: cucumber, crab/creme fraiche, beet hummus on pita, smoked salmon and Suzanne's deviled egg. All were delish, the beet, crab and deviled egg especially. The sweet treats were: orange fig butter cookie, spiced apple brown butter crumble, cranberry frangipane hand pie, chocolate mocha macaron, pumpkin madeleine, plus the 2 scones. All were excellent. There were no leftovers. A bit pricey, but a relaxing and lovely experience. The room was not crowded when I visited, adding to the calmness of my visit.

We had two separate servers because one went home during the middle of our dinner and both were equally horrible. Not even exaggerating when I say we waited at least 15 minutes after we asked for the check and there were probably only 10 tables in the entire restaurant. And we had to call her back over to ask for a second time. SMH. The food although flavorful was so ridiculously priced it was not even funny. I got a "ribeye ". Was literally eight thin slices of steak, like 1" x 1" size for $42! No, I will not be coming back here for so many reasons. The view is great. Castaways is definitely not what it used to be in the way of quality but at least you get more and you get the view. But definitely not worth it going to this place. It was quite a frustrating evening. Also, if you do decide to go here, just bring a coat when it's a little bit cooler in the evenings cause it does get cold up here and getting the staff to manage the heaters correctly is a whole other frustration. Oh, and valet is your only option for parking up here. After being seated 40 minutes later, service took 20 minutes to take our order, and another 30 minutes to be served. Food was 'okay', there was no entertainment, and multiple customers were unhappy with similar slow service... but some of them were comped parts of their meals.. we didn't even get a sorry until we spoke to the manager on our way out, expressing the reason was they had no idea it would be this busy on a Thursday (they take reservations, so...), and also blamed an 'all you can eat promotion' they promoted earlier, and they only had two serves on staff that night. 4) We were late to Mr. Wanderlust, but were luck to get two seats at the bar after another couple left. We order two cocktails and a coffee... and were charged just over $140. Then, we were asked to move because they wanted to take our seats. We asked about the bill to the bartendar, and she expressed that since she didn't take our original order, she couldn't help us. She simply just had us stand there. We were not going to pay since it seemed way off... until finally we spoke to a guy walking by. We showed him our ticket/receipt and said out loud, "this isn't right". He came back quickly with a revised bill of almost $120. This was still far too high, but no one else seemed interested in helping us find resolve, so we ate it since we didn't want to be late for part 3 of the night. 5) Hoping to salvage the night with drinks and dancing... we tried to find the entrance to Sinners and Santos for their advertised Latin night. We had made reservations here too, and had full confirmation of the reservation... BUT, after finally being directed to the entrance (outside on the patio), they were closed. No sign of why and no one who worked at the other locations had a reason, but they were just simply closed. 6) So, after paying $35 for parking, about $140 in cocktails and food while waiting for our initial reservation at Golden Hour and Que Barbaro, $150+ for dinner at Lucky Mizu, and $120 at Mr. Wanderlust... approximately $500 total... we didn't even get to dance. Maybe this place had a bad night, but based on what the workers said, and how they treated us... it sure seems like the norm. Don't get me wrong, the place is cool... some really great experiential elements and nice photo ops... but I would have had a much better time somewhere else. Super disappointed in this place.

We came in around 6:30. They had just opened but the atmosphere was ready! Dark and moody with candles on the table, it was the perfect spot to grab a drink and catch up. Jeremy was our bartender and he was fantastic. Super chill and friendly and made us some amazing drinks based on a few preferences. Our "bartenders choice" drinks were amazing, so much so that our "drink to end the night" turned into two drinks and some appetizers. We ordered taquitos and mozzarella sticks. You will need to reach out to the bar via email to get the password, but you can also get a hint from the person at the front. We got our hint and successfully guessed it, gaining entry. The interior has dark lounge lighting with tables throughout. I got the gotham standard manhattan ($16) which was strong and spirit forward. We came right when they opened so it was very empty, but the bartender mentioned it gets really packed and lively on weekends. If I came back and was able to guess the password I'd stop by when it's more energetic for a different vibe.
