Celebrated my birthday at Niku X today, and I can honestly say it was worth every penny! From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious! every bite was flavorful, high quality, and beautifully prepared. The service was exceptional. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient. They were consistently replacing our grill, refilling our water, and checking in to see if we needed anything without us ever having to ask. Their hospitality truly made our experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance was another highlight. It's cozy, luxurious, and welcomingthe perfect place for a special celebration or a memorable date night. Thank you so much to Roman, Darren, and the rest of the incredible staff for making our visit so memorable and special. Your exceptional hospitality, attentiveness, and genuine kindness truly made my birthday celebration unforgettable. We left with full hearts (and full stomachs)!

A year ago, we came here for lunch, and it didn't disappoint. This time, we decided to try dinner, and it was a completely different experience--in the best way. The selection and amount of meat and seafood were amazing, and everything we tried was delicious. The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff throughout our visit. The restaurant is also spacious, making it easy to move around and enjoy the buffet comfortably. We'll definitely be coming back!

ELEVATED AYCE! 5.0 We discovered NIKU X, a contemporary Japanese yakiniku restaurant, during a recent trip to Los Angeles. We learned that Chubby Group, a U.S. based food-and-beverage holding company, operates a number of dining concepts and currently has over 60 multi-concept restaurants. Some of their concepts include Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House, The X Pot, Wagyu Master, Chubby Cattle BBQ and Chubby Skewers, just to name a few. Needless to say, with so many opportunities to dine at their restaurants near our home in the Bay Area, we decided to upgrade to a Chubby Club PLUS membership. We have found it to be well worth the perks, especially the special birthday benefits. NIKU X was only a 10-15 minute walk from our hotel, The Ritz-Carlton. Located inside The Wilshire Grand Center in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, the restaurant is in a busy area. Use the main entrance for the Intercontinental Hotel and take the escalators to the second floor. Our early 5:00 p.m. reservation was perfect, as the restaurant was not crowded, and we were seated at a very large and quiet table. We ordered the Premium Wagyu selection, a few of the chef's signature dishes and visited the buffet area a couple of times, mainly for the crab legs. Next time, I would probably stay away from some of the heavier items, like the Potato Pavé, which was quite filling. Our two main servers were incredibly friendly and offered endless suggestions on the meat selections and side dishes. The restaurant's policy is to cook the first round of meat for guests, but we were fortunate to have exceptionally attentive servers who cooked just about every round for us. Of course, they can only do this when they are not too busy. As the other tables began filling up, we, or shall I say, my Master Chef Tony, started taking over the grill. We love going to AYCE establishments, but I realize now that I simply can't eat as much as I used to. We do, however, have a great time selecting what we think will be fantastic, and fortunately, everything we ordered was!

I had a great time here to celebrate my birthday!! Service was amazing, they were totally hands on, refilling our glasses with water, replacing the bbq pan, giving us extra napkins, very friendly and inviting!! The meat were delicious!! We do get 2 hours here and at this location, your last call to order is (if I remember correctly) 20 or 40 minutes before your 2 hours is up. And the clock starts as soon as you checked in, if not that as soon as you're seated for sure. It's very pretty inside. Even though we are here for the meat, I did notice the dessert section is not just where you can just get up and get it, you have to go to the dessert counter which is right by hostess stand and you let them know what you want and they will get it for you. My favorite is the Yuzu Cheesecake. Also, as mentioned we are here for the meat, I still have to acknowledge that their Self-serve station is a bit limited, but still good BECAUSE they had Steamed Lobsters and Crab legs there to choose from, if you are into seafood. Also...because I'm only 5'2, there were some of the items I have a harder time seeing. And also, this restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the Wilshire Grand Center / InterContinental Hotel Building Los Angeles Downtown yep...it is Valet parking, the restaurant will validate with discounted pricing (I posted the regular prices in Yelp here). Overall, the experience itself was great!! We were soooooo stuffed!!

We were looking for a place to CELEBRATE an early Bday and 4th of July celebration around LA and I searched on YELP and Niku X appeared. Then, I realized that they are part of the Chubby Group and that was even better since we have membership! WEEKEND LUNCH: $45 for members and $55 for non members. OPTIONAL & Additional $35 for the AYCE Wagyu and Lobster tails. There's an UNLIMITED all you can eat buffet as well and you can also just choose to have the buffet only with or without the grill at the table... AUSTRALIAN WAGYU and A5 JAPANESE WAGYU were our favorite meat selection... CRAB LEGS: 10/10 Fresh and warm... FAVORITE SIDES: Corn, Shishito peppers, Brussel sprouts... PRO TIP: Try grilling the Lobster tails for an enhanced Experience! SERVICE: A+ service by Roman and the entire team there which were all guys were awesome! SAVE room for the EGG TARTS!!! BIRTHDAY DESSERT PLATTER: available upon request! I told them I saw a picture of it on YELP ;) ROCK ON NIKU X !!!!!!!

Good but over-rated. A very plush and chic restaurant but I expected much better quality of food. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I expected great at this price tag (especially when you're getting and cooking your own food). It was a nice splurge to try but wouldn't recommend it for the food and value. Service was really good, staff was attentive with refilling drinks. Note: parking will be like $30 with validation.

Not going to lie - we had initial concerns when we realized Niku is NOT in the hotel, but instead was outside in the back behind the valet area. Our concerns were further heightened when we reached the front entrance, as it was giving "low-budget all-you-can-eat" and not what we saw on Yelp. We were also quite surprised to realize that half of the restaurant allows for self-grilling... that was not the vibe we were going for, it was quite smokey, and I was wearing white on white. However! We were moved to the other section with pretty decor, comfy booth seating, where they bring out ready-made skewers to the table - everything turned around from there. Lobster, wagyu, sashimi, caviar, and so much more - YUM! We made sure to get all the best stuff to maximize our experience. We had to order in small orders, which wasn't a problem at all. Everyone was so attentive, informative, efficient and helpful. I appreciated the service, for sure. We ended up parking in the lot across the street so we could walk a bit and explore the area. We also went up to the Spire, which had a nice vibe and stellar views.

Celebrated my birthday here this past Saturday with my family, and we had an amazing time! We really enjoyed the food here and everything we got were fresh and delicious. The snow crab legs were definitely a family favorite, and don't skip the yuzu cheesecake for dessert--it was the perfect way to end the meal. They also have a good selection of different drinks - cherry blooms has been my favorite mixed drink from here. The service was excellent as well. Huge shoutout to our server, Roman, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. He really helped make our birthday celebration special. We'll definitely be back!

Our experience at Niku X was amazing! The ambience is beautiful and the music is very fun. The quality of meat was top-notch and we really enjoyed all of the seafood options as well, especially the snow crab and King crab. The service is great and our server Nessie was very attentive with us and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our evening. Y'all helped my birthday feel so special!

Niku X is part of the Chubby Group. Knowing this information, I didn't have high expectations for this place. The chain of restaurants that are involved in this group are mediocre at best. They are selling a fantasy of a high end experience while providing low quality service and food. The menu at Niku X is quite overwhelming. I didn't know where to start so the server basically ordered and recommended everything to try. There was so much going on from the appetizers that were being served, the meat being cooked on the grill, and the open buffet of food. Literally nothing stood out to me. I think the appetizers were better than the japanese bbq itself. For $150 per person, I expected at least quality dinnerware. The plates themselves are PLASTIC. Please give me a break. I do not recommend Niku X. The high price point does not correlate with the service or quality of food at all. I would not support this business.

Had a lovely dinner at Niku X's seafood and A5 yakiniku BBQ steak buffet. They offer an impressive selection of fresh seafood, specialty dishes, cooked items, and even dim sum. There are some meats you can get yourself at the buffet and some you order with your server. Kevin was super attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that our experience was smooth and enjoyable.

    Beef Tartare with caviar

Niku X exceeded our expectations! Our group of four chose the Premium All-You-Can-Eat menu, and every dish was fresh, high quality, and absolutely delicious. What impressed us the most was how quickly the food arrived after we placed each order. The service was incredibly efficient without ever feeling rushed. A special thank you to our server, Nessie, who was exceptional throughout the entire meal. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we always had everything we needed. His excellent service truly made our dining experience even better. If you're looking for amazing Japanese BBQ with outstanding service and fast, attentive staff, I highly recommend Niku X. We can't wait to come back!

Ask the Community - Niku X

What the fee you charge for cancelling a reservation a few hours before the reservation? For a party of 4?

Yes, if you cancel too close to the reservation time. The timing varies by type of reservation. Generally cancelling more than 24 hours before will avoid fees. Amount of the fee depends on the experience you booked.

Can someone help me explain the menu price?my mom only eat can seafood , which menu is included the lobster, crab ... thanks in advance.

The menu is AYCE seafood and meat all included, so not just for meat or seafood alone. Lots of seafood options from lobster, crab legs, shrimp and signature dishes served by request. Definitely ok to bring someone who only eats seafood.

    Is there a hidden cost?

The cost is $159 per person for the full menu or $119 per person for a limited menu. Not all items were available when I was there last week (no oysters) and some items were limited to only one per person.

Is the quality of foods still good for a late reservation at 830pm? Do any selections run out by then?

No they have a schedule for everything. Crab legs lobster tails etc. Sometimes they run out but you just have to wait for next restock exp legs come out at 830 and at 915 something like that they have it posted by station

Is this omakase or a buffet? I see set menus, but also a ayce option. How is the meat quality?

It's a buffet, you choose what to eat. For me, it was over-rated. Not worth the money.

    Are there many vegan options?

    No.

    What is the dress code?

    Casual

We made a reservation for tonight at 5pm and just trying to confirm before we make the 1.5 hour drive. It's under the last name Baker?

What is your question? Or concern

    How much for 1?

It was about $174 with tax etc. very disappointed, save your money, go to Cafe Sierra at the Hilton

Do we make reaervation for tomorrow?

According to their website, you must make reservation. it is hard to get reservations. We booked in Jan for March only to have them change our reservation from $99 to the higher menu twice. @ hours before our reservation, they called to confirm…

Is it one griddle per table We have 7 guests?

Maybe two because it's in the middle of table

How to accommodate party of 1 & can u dine at bar but how would meat get grilled?

You will get a table. No grilling at the bar.

When making reservations on their website can anyone tell me what the choices mean? One says steakhouse selection, Other selection , BBQ buffet... We just want the regular buffet selection ($99)..

There is a menu it's divided in three sections the most expensive is the third section for about $149 with tax about $175 for one person. Everything is included. It wasn't what I expected there was hardly any seafood available everyone kept asking…

Does the Tomohawk and Seafood buffet come with the A5 wagyu you can order for the grill as well as the buffet wagyu you get from the buffet bar?

The seafood and A5 Wagyu come with both buffet options. The Tomohawk is only available with the Steakhouse option.

    Do you do walk in?

Depends on the availability, reservations is highly recommended

No one answered my call Im trying to make reservations?

    Go to their website instead

Are kids welcomed if so how much?

ADULTS AND KIDS ARE THE SAME PRICE. MY 2 COINS, PLEASE DONT BRING THE KIDS. I DID NOT SEE ANY KIDS WHEN I WAS THERE. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY SO LEAVE THE MUNCHKINS AT HOME.

    Are the crab legs cold?

    Yes, they are cold

How much does the Sashimi, A5 Wagyu, King Crab, and Lobster costs?

So, my dinner was $140 each and I got all of the above, we also opted for the full-service.

    Is this place a buffet?

    Yes

When we walked in we didn't notice the signs on the wall if you don't pay attention you will miss the notice as you walk in. The 10% is to help the owner offset gratuity and healthcare for the employees so you have no choice but to pay it even if you didn't see the posting on the wall. They also have a sign to say a tip is not required because of the service fee.

With the cost of groceries, gas, and dining out continuing to climb, people are looking for a place where they can get a good meal without spending a fortune. This place fits the bill. If you come before 4:00 p.m. on a weekday, lunch is around $15. That's about what you'd spend on a burger, fries, and a drink at some fast-food chains these days, except here you get an entire buffet with plenty of choices. The salad bar is well stocked and includes fresh fruit. They also have sushi rolls and nigiri. Is it sushi restaurant quality? No. But considering that one specialty roll at a sushi restaurant can cost $12-$16 by itself, it's a nice bonus. My favorite item is fried chicken. It's crispy, flavorful, and consistently juicy. I would gladly pay the lunch price just for the chicken. They also serve a very good pot roast, meaty pork ribs, and on Fridays they have a surprisingly good rib roast. Those are just a few of the highlights because there are plenty of other dishes to choose from. As for the staff, most of the employees appear to be young and may be working their first job. The cooks aren't trying to be gourmet chefs, they focus on preparing the buffet items well, and overall, they do a good job keeping the food coming despite how busy the restaurant gets. If you're looking for a fine dining experience prepared by professionally trained chefs, this probably isn't the place for you. But if your goal is to enjoy a wide variety of good food at a price that's hard to beat in today's economy, this buffet is definitely worth a visit. Just be prepared for a crowd, that's usually a sign they're doing something right.

Very large buffet. Lots of parking in the shopping center. Located right off the 60 Freeway at…read moreGarfield. This place was busy with many parties of varying sizes. We did have to wait in line before getting seated. The wait wasn't too long for our party of 7 as it took maybe 15 min or so. The food was okay. It's what you would expect from an AYCE buffet like this. It's maybe on par with the likes of Golden Corral or Hometown Buffet (from back in the day). The highlight things to eat may be the made-to-order Mongolian BBQ where you load up your bowl with veggies, protein (chicken, pork, shrimp, beef, etc), noodles, and seasonings. Hand it over to the staff cook and they hand you a pager to notify you when done. The other food highlight may be the Japanese sushi area. While not the highest quality of ingredients, it was still decent for the price of the buffet and the fact that there's a staff member making the sushi rolls consistently rather than just leaving a bunch out in a tray to get old and dry. Definitely might be an even better deal as a lunch AYCE option. But for dinner it's still nice to go to.

I decided to call to see if the restaurant would honor it. but there was no answer. Tried to call during actual AYCe hours. Still unable to get an answer. Operator suggested to leave a voice message for Miguel, the MANAGer. So I did =] After a few days, I received a call from Miguel. He was kind and friendly over the phone. He said he will honor it. He even helped me with the reservation. That call brightened my day. Finally Sat! Checked in and had to wait a bit before getting seated. I was happy that we got seated near the main seafood section. I wasn't expecting a lot, but I was hoping to be able to enjoy some of the seafoods this time. Huge improvement on the seafoods!! The whole steamed lobsters were not overcooked. It was yummy with the butter and lemon. The snow crab legs were in good size. Wasn't that salty. Was good with or without butter. King crab legs were ok. It was thin than the ones previously. However, it was edible this time. It wasn't super salty. Some were just pretty dry and the meats weren't as tasty as the king crab legs I normally eat from other places. The sashimi was fresh. For ayce, the quality was great. All the other items were good as well. Foods were no longer as salty as before. I felt like their chef was messing with the foods or something back then. Maybe new chefs? I hope things will stay consistent or improve even more in the future. The Thai tea without boba was good. It was way better than what I had in the morning. The tea was strong. I had 2 cups hehhe Service was good. They came by a few times and made sure things were going smoothly. The desserts were not the greatest. They need a new baker or get their cakes else where. I didn't see any baked lobsters. I really enjoyed the baked lobsters back in the days. Looking forward to return with the family. Thank you, Miguel!! Reg price for dinner was $139, but they had a promotion going on for $109 pp. With the bogo deal, our total came out to $166.15 instead of $275.15. They now have a facility charge and a no tipping policy. I prefer this over the standard with Cafe Sierra. I am ok with tipping, however, I have had servers that circled the percentage of tips they wanted and expected that amount to be given. The lady servers who did this were not present during the visit. Great! Sierra doesn't need these greedy servers.

I could fill-up on their salmon sashimi alone (I definitely get a plate to start with) & be decently satisfied. That said, there's so much here to be pleased with. It's no secret that many buffets have done away with crab legs. Sometimes, I wonder how many populations of crab my family has decimated alone. But I have to admit, during this visit I've literally never seen 2 people put away so many crawfish - (in my humble opinion, the "poor man's lobster"). I'm not trying to exaggerate, but I feel like these 2 people alone put crawfish on the endangered species list. There's a decent variety of Sushi, Asian-American, American, & a grill-to-order-station. The dessert selection has a decent variety of fruits, your standard buffet pastries, & an unmistakable ice cream freezer (to scoop from gallons). Pro-Tip: When scooping ice-cream, it always helps to dip the scooper & rinse it under the running facet - it also helps to prevent cross contamination of different flavors. Another tip: Don't even think of trying to "sneak-in" crab legs onto your plate by only paying the lunch price - the staff always knows who has paid for the extra price of dinner.

Fuji itself was probably like 40-50% occupied and there was plenty of parking. For $37 (and 20% for seniors on Mon/Tues), I thought it was pretty worth for the amount of food we ate. - Korean rib (grill): thinly cut, tender, and nicely marinated (even when you don't ask for any special sauces). so yummy to eat it fresh off the grill - snow crab: i prefer eating this hot than chilled, and it hit the spot! meaty, sweet crab. they refilled this often - cajun seafood: not too salty! includes mussels, shrimps, thin corn cobs which I actually prefer - crawfish: nicely marinated and tasty but dry meat ); parents said the last time they had this here a month ago it was better - salmon sashimi was also restocked and tasted fresh - Fish maw soup/chowder: both were tasty as well - matcha ice cream: yummm - lots of fresh fruit options: blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, cherries even Other selections are standard and not bad. Dim Sum is unique but usually not done well so I didn't even bother. Chicken feet isn't bad tho Bathrooms could be cleaner and service was slooow. We maybe saw our waiter like 3 times? He only cleared our plates once and he never offered us water refills, which we had to actively flag him down for. It wasn't busy as it was a Monday and we were the only table in that seating area (lower level by the Mongolian grill)

There is a bell that you have to ring in order to get one. Remember to get it! It's very tender. The salad section was great. It had a good variety of greens, and they were all dressed and seasoned very well. I liked the big cucumber salad and the kale with pita chip salad the most. The pita chips as croutons were very nice and crispy. The hummus section was awesome. My favorite one is the green one. I think it's avocado? You should try them all! Don't get filled up on it, though--save room for the meats! Besides the lamb shank, I liked the kofta and the gyro. The first batch of kofta I had was very juicy, and the second was more on the drier side. Same goes for the gyro. It was cut kind of thick and was a little dry. The garlic sauce they have went very well with it! I also got the beets, and they were my favorite item. They were sweet and tender, cooked to perfection. The cantaloupe and honeydew were both very sweet. I think that's kind of hard to come by these days. Their pudding was okay, not my favorite. I also tried the baklava, and it is definitely one of the better ones I have ever had. Definitely recommend this place, and I will come back.

They sort of got an Indian mix in their buffet, the problem is that the curry is watered down, and the chicken over done or too loose. Luckily I'm not here for the Indian food. The grilled veggies was the real star of the show, I can't wait to go again to try their greens, but since there's that recall I'm playing safe, looked amazing though. The lamb was tender and great, although it's one shank per person there is a lamb rice dish on the buffet line and you can get more lamb meat. The beef kebab is pretty standard and the rose water is uniquely good. Although I did water mine down a little to reduce the sweetness. The desserts are great, usually the fruits at buffets aren't sweet but these were! The pasteries felt like it was Greek restaurant grade. Would come here again when I'm in the area, the price is great if you typically can eat two plates - cost of plates nowadays are too much elsewhere.

Date: July 10, 2026…read more Favorites: Snow Crab Seafood Boil Corn and Sauce Clams Pistachio Almond Ice Cream Milk Tea Experience: My husband was feeling ravenous, so he decided we should give this place a try. We came around 5pm, so we were quickly seated with only a handful of tables occupied. We ordered our drinks and made our way around the location to figure out what they had. They had ice cream and boba tea in the back corner, then came the dim sum options, hot foods, items for the grill, sushi, desserts with a chocolate fountain, and a mixture of cold items, such as fruits, seafood, and more desserts. Right away I got a plate of snow crabs and noticed the seafood boil the had shrimp and corn, so I got one of that as well the clams and some pieces of sushi. The crab legs were easy to open though I did have my husband request for crab cracker to help me with the harder pieces. I definitely preferred dipping the crab meat into the seafood boil sauce than the melted butter they had. The clams were pretty good as well, so I made sure to get a second round of them with the snow crabs. I did dabble in trying other foods, but preferred my seafood combo that I got. Once I had my fill with savory, I tackled the sweets and buffets are always fun to try new desserts but overall my fave was just good ol' pistachio almond ice cream with my milk tea. Overall, a good experience with both the restroom and dining area being clean. Staff was nice, but definitely need to catch their attention for refills and anything else you need that isn't taking away your used plates or the bill cause they were on my for those.
