This was my first time here. Everything was very flavorful, and I was very happy to see a lot of dishes that I don't see on the standard Indian restaurant menus in the U.S. We started with the Gobhi Bezule (fried cauliflower in coconut milk). It was definitely VERY coconut-y. And very interesting and unique. We then had the Beef Short Ribs Nihari which were super tender and flavorful. Basically, it's not that different from like a braised short rib at a French restaurant but with a little more Indian flavoring. And the portion of beef was actually quite generous. It was really, really good. We got the Pindi Chana which was a chickpea dish but with a few additional flavors (mango powder and black tea) that definitely added a twist to the standard chickpea dishes we have had. We also got the Pea and Panner Butter Masala which was very tasty. Overall, everything was very flavorful and presented nicely. And they brought out some rice which was a perfect accompaniment. Our few nitpicks were that the garlic and chive naan was... fine but not really exceptional. The other main complaint was that there was really no spice in anything. Very flavorful but not spicy. When I asked afterwards, they said they make everything mild to medium but you can ask for spicy. I wish someone had warned us about that when ordering because we definitely would have added more spice. We assumed that since this seemed to be a high-end Indian restaurant things would come appropriately spicy but not crazily so in order to not scare off customers but there was really no spice. I think the servers should alert people as to the spice level (or the menu can do it as well).

This is my go to place now for High End Indian Food. You really wanna try the short ribs when you're here. The flavor is outstanding and everything they make is made with care and quality and ingredients. I really enjoy helping a small neighborhood restaurant like this because they're so worthy of it and the food is excellent. When you're in the area, definitely give Almost Famous Restaurant a try.

You tried Almost Famous for Sunday brunch and it was absolutely fantastic! Located in the heart of the Culver City arts district, this restaurant is a really great addition to the neighborhood. We went there on a sunday, which was fortunate for us and easy day to find free parking on the street. The interior is beautifully designed, sleek and cozy We ordered one of the popular spinach and mozzarella flatbreads, there are popular paneer and we shared the special dosa platter. Everything was beautifully plated and very generous portions We want to go back for dinner try more of their savory dishes and definitely come back for brunch because they do have both American and Indian options to choose from.. and the French toast looked amazing! At Almost Famous to your foodie must try list!

Such a cute (and gorgeous) Indian spot in Culver City! Everything on their menu looks amazing, but the sweet potato chaat was my favorite item. We also really liked the kotu parotta (pretty generous portion of braised beef) and saag paneer. Service was great too - they were super attentive. Will definitely be back.

UPDATE: The manager made the situation right. Food was also a 4.2 to me. I loved the garlic naan and cauliflower appetizer was unique and interesting. The dosa was probably the best I've had. However, service wasn't not ideal. The waiter wasn't friendly and it felt like we were a burden. She seemed annoyed when we only wanted water for drinks. I also noticed some discrepancies in the tip and credit card charge

What a nice place for an Indian American brunch. It's very modern and minimal. I love the local feel of this place. The one server on staff on a Saturday morning was absolutely amazing. She gave us her honest recommendation on dishes and portion and it turned out to he the best advice. Took my bestie there for brunch. They were able to seat us immediately, even after being 20 minutes late for our reservation. We got meter parking pretty quickly considering parking in Culver City is not always great. We shared the Avocado Toast & Poached Eggs dish along with the Benne Dosa. Everything was good and our server never let our coffee get below top so it was always warm. And considering she was the only server scheduled at that time, she gave us 100% attention.

As many of you know, there are only a few good options for Indian food in west LA. Almost Famous might help change that reputation. A higher end, intimate, wine-forward Indian fusion restaurant that has a large menu its own contemporary takes on classic North and South Indian dishes. There's a variety of veg and non-veg as well as breads available. My favorites were the Fig Papdi Chat, Kerala Fried Chicken, Chicken Almondine Korma, and Lamb Curry. We walked in as a group of 6 and only had to wait 15 minutes. There was plenty of street parking nearby. They greeted us warmly and were attentive to our needs the entire night. Compared to Fitoor, I would Almost Famous to be far more approachable and better for big groups with large portions more amenable to sharing. Would absolutely come with friends again.

Came on a Tuesday night with the girlies. Candlelit, cozy ambiance and quiet enough to actually have a conversation. Service was attentive without hovering, with regular check-ins and genuinely kind staff. I love Indian food and was especially impressed by the shrimp and daal . While there's another Indian spot in Culver City that I already frequent, this is a strong addition to the neighborhood. The elevated vibe makes it a solid date-night option. Side note: I also came for brunch a few months after they opened in 2025. Beautiful spread and loved the individual teapots .

It was SO. GOOD. I don't usually eat Indian food but everything was like delicious. The fried chicken was super crispy and the sauce was great. The short rib large plate was delicious and the naan was great as well. But the star of the show was THE SCALLOPS. Oh Em Gee I could eat those everyday. For $12 you get 4 scallops and they r like the best scallops I've ever had truly. We got the wine from Spain which was good and then for dessert we got this pistachio ice cream bar that was really good. The staff were all SOooooOOOOOOOO nice like cannot emphasize enough. Will be in the rotation of "I want to eat really good food". My sister and I even said we would come and just get a glass of wine and some scallops when we r bored it's that good. The ambiance is just so good and it's candlelit and beautiful. I can't believe this place isn't more popular.

My friend and I came here for dinner and enjoyed it overall! We shared a few items - Lahsooni Scallops, Gobhi Bezule, Garlic & Chive Naan, Beef Short Ribs Nihari and Tellicherry Shrimp & Grits. This was a cool fusion menu! Our favorite was the scallop as it was soo soft/tender. I would say skip the short ribs as I felt this was a little salty and on the drier side. Everything else was delicious though! Food came relatively quickly.

Had a wonderful birthday celebration at Almost Famous last night. We pulled up around 5pm on a Thursday eve and there was tons of parking on the street. The space is quite minimalistic in its design, there's a bit of a casual-cafeteria feel to it. The place currently strictly serves beer/wine, and their selection is to the point, short and sweet. There is currently no bar seating offered at the restaurant. I ordered their Sav Blanc and followed with the Riesling after-- the Riesling was an incredible pairing with the spices in the dishes. Sav Blanc was a bright, floral start to the dinner. Mmmmmm.. NOW, onto the food-- I was happy to see the handful of vegetarian options (I don't eat meat), and we ordered a couple dishes that our server, Melissa, recommended. The Gobhi Bezule was a personal favorite-- not usually a fan of cauliflower but I'm sure as hell glad I tried it out! The texture was stunnnning. Crisp to the bite, drenched in a gorgeous coconut milk based sauce that was reminiscent of a spin off on biscuits and gravy with Indian flare. The sweet potato chaat was colorful, filled with texture + flavor (those pomegranate seeds POPPED). I ate their yellow daal as if it were a lentil soup, its consistency is quite thin, but it pairs well with their naan breads and they have rice options to serve it with. The Benne Dosa was heavy on the ghee, I'd order it lighter next time-- the tomato + coconut chutney it came with was a wonderful pairing. Melissa was attentive and kind, walked us through the entire experience. She also showed us their brunch menu, which they're open for daily-- left a photo reference here. Thank you for hosting us, Almost Famous!

Food was amazing, quick friendly service. Love the environment we had a table of 12 and it easily accommodated us. Great small table date spot as well. Would highly recommend for more higher end Indian food.

Almost Famous was great: the food had a lot of flavor, the dishes were presented nicely, and the service was fantastic. Below are my thoughts on each dish ordered: - Gobhi Bezule (cauliflower): a bit too much breading - Crab Bhuna: the amount of sauce mixed in made it so I couldn't taste the crab as much as I had hoped to, but maybe this is what it's supposed to be like - Fried chicken: a bit too much breading and not crispy enough; the sauce was amazing - Awadhi Lamb Biryani: so, so good - Kulfi: the ice cream consistency was absolutely perfect, the flavor was there, and it wasn't too sweet One thing that kind of bothered me was the front door slamming shut. It slowly closes itself, but then loudly slams shut at the last second. This was pretty noticeable on the night I dined here and I assume it will be addressed. I look forward to dining here again! TIP: They are working on obtaining their liquor license and have no corkage fee for the time being - bring a bottle of wine!! They provide glasses and will open the bottle for you!

It was fresh, incredibly flavorful, and beautifully presented. The watermelon aguachile was equally impressive, with bright, refreshing flavors that were perfect for a warm afternoon. Prices are what you'd expect for a rooftop hotel restaurant, but the quality and execution make it money well spent. The setting is what really makes Butterfly special. The covered outdoor dining area sits next to the rooftop pool, creating a true resort atmosphere. Once you're up on the sixth floor, it's easy to forget you're in the middle of Culver City. You can disappear from the city below for a few hours and just enjoy the atmosphere. On Sunday morning, after my daughter's wedding, our family gathered there for breakfast before everyone headed home. I had the open-faced omelet with wild mushrooms, poblano peppers, Monterey Jack, salsa macha, queso fresco, avocado, and micro cilantro. It was outstanding. I also sampled my daughter's pancakes and ordered a side of the smashed fingerling potatoes, both of which were excellent. The only hiccup came when the server accidentally dumped my side of breakfast potatoes into my brother-in-law's lap after the chrome fry basket tipped off the tray. He had already eaten elsewhere and had just sat down to visit with us, so it was an unfortunate way to say hello. The staff immediately apologized and brought out another order of potatoes, which was appreciated. Mistakes happen, and they handled it professionally without letting it overshadow an otherwise excellent meal. Overall, Butterfly serves high-quality food that is thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented in a fantastic setting. Whether you're staying at The Shay or simply looking for a rooftop meal in Culver City, it's well worth a visit. 5 stars

I also wanted to do their weekend brunch for the first time, but alas ended up not doing that due to an unpleasant heatwave and stomach capacity. About half of AOC is the gorgeous (but outdoors) patio. I was able to walk here from my hotel. Happy Hour is offered at the bar (about 10 seats) and at the adjacent long communal high-top. There are 3 cocktails on the menu, plus wines and beers. Nothing spirit-free. I ordered the Cool Sting (mint-infused vodka, cucumber, lime) and the spirit-free Sunlit Bloom (peach, lemon verbena), both so refreshing in the heat. Bartender Frank clearly wasn't hired yesterday, several guests knew him. The bites portion of the HH menu has 11 items, including several famous dishes, which Frank said were full-sized portions. I ordered the Farmer's Plate (roasted veggies, hummus, muhamarra, burrata and grilled toast) and Spanish Fried Chicken, which came with a romesco aioli. I've had the farmer's plate before and it is delish. The veggies probably vary seasonally, but the creamy hummus and burrata and the kicky muhamarra were as fondly remembered. This was my first taste of the fried chicken, although I have had the roasted chicken "ode to Zuni". This was boneless thigh meat, well-seasoned but fortunately for me not heat-spicy. The aioli was fine, but the chicken was fine without it too. Two days later I would try the 5-fat fried chicken at Darling. Theirs was more chili-powder forward, also not too heat-spicy, perhaps more one-note, served with honey and hot sauce. I'd order either again. AOC's serving is larger. So if I made it to brunch here, I would have ordered the walnut sticky bun and steak frites or herb omelette. Something to look forward to in non-heatwave weather.

Location 4 stars: On the 3rd Street East of Robertson, in the Beverly Grove area of Los Angeles. We opted for the convenience of Valet Parking (for a fee). There is some street parking, but it is a busy area so I would assume it would not be very straightforward. Venue 4 stars: Cute restaurant with a full bar, indoor seating and a rustic patio area. Service 3.75 stars: Server-dependent... We had servers switched on us mid-steam. The first one was super friendly and attentive and helpful, but the one who took over was just OK. The manager was wonderful and circled around making sure that everything was going well. Drinks 4 stars: AOC is mainly a wine bar. They have as huge list of wines but also some tasty specialty cocktails and a full bar. We had the Kingbird, the Mezcal Royale, Flor De Jamaica and a Grey Goose Martini. All were well-made and delicious. Prices were OK but a little on the higher side. Food 3.75 stars: AOC is known for its farm-to-table small plates, and we did try some of their famous ones, but were not as satisfied as we had anticipated. First off, the portions, especially for the prices, are tiny... We had the Bacon Wrapped Dates (good but super small portion), Haricot Verts salad (just ok), the Shrimp (good), the Clams (good), the Grilled Seabass (good), the fries (great) and their famous Spanish Fried Chicken (too greasy for our taste). They do have a nice menu of desserts, but we did not try any this time around. Billing 2 stars: They add 7% to every check to provide health insurance for the employees. While I fully appreciate and applaud the cause and also the fact that they disclosed this at the bottom of the menu (which not everyone looks at) and also noted that the customer could ask for it to be removed (but c'mon, in reality, WHO in their right mind would feel right asking???), why not simply add this to their prices?
