    Shrimp Pomodoro Pasta: YUM!
    Jill M.

OMG! The "Shrimp Pomodoro Pasta" is to almost die for! Soooooo delicious and a nice size portion! I highly recommend it! At first when you walk up it looks like a teeny tiny place and then you find out there is a whole hidden covered patio, which is where I sat. Service was great and I was checked on by two people to make sure that I was happy, which I was. I really like the atmosphere in the patio which is airy, roomy, colorful, and comfortable. I think the price of the food was commensurate to how good it tasted so I didn't mind paying $24 for my dish. I wanted to try desert but I had eaten too much pasta. LOL. I will definitely be going back here and suggest you give them a try. Parking can be tricky since it's metered street parking but I was able to find a space about half a block away.

Breakfast Paris Sandwich with Potato Gratin & Fresh Seasonal Fruit
    Kelly L.

Stopped by Saturday morning with my friend. Cute but smaller restaurant. It wasn't very busy. Staff were friendly and gave us some bread on the house. I ordered the Breakfast Paris Sandwich with Potato Gratin and Fresh Seasonal Fruit. The croissant was great. Very flakey, crisp, and buttery. Everything else was pretty standard. Nothing really stood out to my friend and I. Overall, I'd recommend if you're looking for a breakfast spot in the area but not necessarily a must try. Parking: A little tough. There is paid street parking. Got lucky and found free parking in the neighborhood behind.

We have loved coming to this place for more than 10 years. We really like the new restaurant, it is welcoming and comfortable. Our hosts Rayn and Robbie are terrific. Are server Julio did a great job as well. This is the first time I had the crepelette, And it is stupendous. I had everybody taste it, and everybody gave it five stars. All four dishes were so tasty. We brought our three pups, and we all had a wonderful, delicious meal. I can't rave enough about this place, the people the food the ambience. Just a delightful meal

Soleil Pancakes w/ Nutella & Fruit, La Carnaval Crêpe - Mar Vista | Los Angeles, California
    Justin L.

I've been meaning to stop by for brunch, but saw their windows taped up and thought they closed. Was happy to find out they actually just relocated from Culver City to Mar Vista. Cafe Laurant can now be found along Venice Boulevard, close to the library and post office. Most of the nearby streets are paid parking, but there are free spots if you drive into the residential areas. The meter was 25 cents every 15 minutes so honestly I didn't think it was a big deal paying a dollar for a spot out front. They have seats outside by the sidewalk, inside, at the bar, and in this sort of enclosed patio area. Complimentary bread was served before the meal. On the breakfast menu you'll find quiches, crepes, omelettes, pastries, and other typical dishes. You can even build your own crepe or omelet by choosing from their ingredients list. Lunch has a hodgepodge of different things like salmon, pasta, Croque Monsieur, Croque Madame, desserts, and more. Burgers and sandwiches come with your preferred bun (sesame or brioche). They serve Lavazza coffee. Brunch was enjoyable. The Pain Perdu (French toast with brioche, butter croissants, raisins, cranberries, Canadian maple syrup) had interesting textures and flavors. The La Carnaval Crêpe came with fresh strawberries and bananas. My Soleil pancakes were kind of bland but the Nutella spread made it palatable. Per dish, expect to pay $15 - $22 for breakfast and $20 - $25 for lunch. Open every day 8 AM - 3 PM.

amazing waffle! its more soft than crunchy which I prefer but the fruit was very sweet and fresh and lots of it! The ambiance was also so welcoming and beautiful, the owner spoke to us about the menu and shared his favorites which was a nice welcome to our first time here. A bit on the pricier side for brunch but good

Created my own: cheddar, olives, red peppers, cilantro, mushrooms, and turkey sausage ( well done).

Definitely one of the best omelettes in Los Angeles. Made perfect to order. Crested my own: cheddar, olives, cilantro, red peppers, mushrooms, and turkey sausage.

Above my expectations. I wasn't excited about the price of a $25 Breakfast Combo plate - but it would have cost double in Beverly Hills. Ingredients & the Dishes were great. I had the Fancy Brunch which could've been a heavy plate, but was nicely balanced. If the weather is nice, the sidewalk seating can be fun. I would feel confident taking 'my Boss' here for a Brunch meeting.

Quiche and Grilled Herbs Skirt Steak Salad

I haven't been to this space since Atmosphere Café had closed down, so it was nice to see how Café Laurent redecorated the space. I'm glad they kept the side patio space because it's my favorite part. In honor of the Olympics happening in Paris, why not have some French food! The quiche aux olives was a generous portion and I enjoyed every bite. The side salad and potato gratin were both delicious as well. The only critique is that the potato gratin had a tad too much cheese for my taste. It was more cheese than potato. There is NO shortage of cheese on the menu, so rest assured you are taken care of, cheese lovers! My friend had the skirt steak medium rare and she said it was great and would order it again in a heartbeat. Cheers to Pedro for delivering on attentive and hospitable service!

I'm from out of town. But was expecting it to be more of a Parisian style Café. However, it was quite basic. Food was also mediocre. But staff were really friendly. We kind of wish we went elsewhere as there are so many other great options for cafes.

Are you all closed? Did you move? I went to the location down the street from Sony (the one in ma y pictures) and it was closed! I called and no answering machine and no person answers. However, I noticed just now a different address? Did you move?

Yes they moved to Mar Vista.

    Is this place study friendly?

No. It's more restaurant, not coffee shop.

Where is the best place to park?

There are a handful of spots behind Restruant & free parking in neighborhood. Be sure to read signs. Also, plenty of metered parking on street.

Do they sell whole Quiches to go?

    Yes they do.

Has the ownership changed lately? The service has gotten so much worse over the past year, and the you used to be able to be able to bring your own brunch bubbles for $5/bottle. We were charged $20 for 2 bottles of our own champagne w/ OJ

Hey Joey K, the carafe of OJ is $7 or $10, I can't recall, so they only charge $5 corking fee per bottle, so compared to most spots...it's still a good deal. Where else can you get 10 mimosas for $20 total

Anyone knows what kind of jam it is they bring with bread as you sit down? We really liked it but forgot to ask.

It's raspberry jam, that they make themselves. ? They use to sell it, but not anymore. Maybe inquire with them on your next visit, you might get lucky ?

Love the place been going for breakfast every Sunday for years but you have to get early to get a table or wait?

Early early early, the end! It's always packed

There is also free parking underground in the building! We started by splitting a bottle of Brut ($28) which came with 2 juices to mix. I'd probably skip the guava next time... it came as a super thick puree that didn't mix into the bubbly, even with stirring. But they offered orange, cranberry, grapefruit, lychee, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting! The food menu and drink menus were great, with almost an overwhelming number of options. I decided on the shrimp and ricotta frittata, my friend ordered the jambalaya, and we split the house-baked coffee cake. You can upgrade anything with bacon to include Jurassic Pork (thick-cut bacon cooked in brown sugar) so why not? Everything was beautifully presented and tasted delicious, and the portions were large. I loved the little details on everything... egg-shaped salt and pepper shakers and cute little chickens on my side dish of sour cream. We also noticed that the servers were all super nice, attentive, and they just seemed to enjoy working there and to be having fun. One of them recommended bars we could go to after they closed, and we saw a group of them hanging out at the same bar. We just picked up on good vibes overall. The combination of friendship and delicious dishes delivered by Almost famous was soul-warming. Metered street parking only unfortunately, but service at the restaurant was excellent. Staff were friendly, courteous, patient, and were happy to go through the menu and make recommendations. You can tell they take pride in their dishes offered. They will check-in enough to ensure everything with the dining experience is going well, but not too frequently to impede on privacy. They have a breakfast/lunch (brunch) menu that they serve from 8am up until 2pm and a dinner menu that is available from 11am to 2pm & 5pm to 9:30pm. 1. Ginger & Cardamom Chai Latte (5/5) House-made chai with ginger and cardamom. If you like herbal spices, this drink was comforting and warming. It's not sweet, which I like and it paired well with the food dishes. 2. Crab Bhuna (4.75/5) Crab meat simmered in fragrant spices then topped with ginger, fennel seed, and curry leaves. It is served with soft, subtly sweet banana buns The crab meat was fresh and honestly, you couldn't even tell it's crab. It's seasoned perfectly with the aromatic Indian spices. The banana buns were interesting ... it was a bit on the dry side, but if you stuffed the airy pockets of the bun with the crab meat, it's not too bad. The banana bun had an interesting flavor profile; a mix of sweet-bitterness to it. 3. Sweet Potato Chaat (5/5) One of my favorite dishes here. It is sweet potato chunks mixed with a sauce blend of sweet corn, yogurt, tamarind, mint chutney and pomegranate. The sauce was light, refreshing, and tangy, balancing the natural sweetness of the sweet potato perfectly. 4. Brunch Dosa Rice & Lentil Crepe (4.75/5) Basically think of a crepe, but a super large size one. I just love their crepe - it was crispy yet doughy with a cheesy flavor. The crepe was stuffed with turmeric mashed potatoes. I typically do not like mash potatoes, but when it's served this way, I approve. The dish comes with a side of 3 sauces - sambar (lentil-based vegetable curry that's often seasoned with coriander seeds, cumin, fenugreek, dry red chilies), curry, coconut and tomato chutney. A perfect dish for sharing and for trying out the various flavors of Indian cuisine. 5. Wagyu Beef Keema Kulcha (4.5/5) Minced Wagyu beef that's seasoned well with aromatic spices and onion inside an Indian leavened flat bread. Highly recommend and will be back to try out other dishes!
