A colleague and friend of mine introduced me to Momo Souls recently. I'm so glad I made it out! For a Monday night it was pretty crowded around 6:30pm. There were counter seats and regular 2 person cafeteria seats that you can move around to make a larger table. Parking is tricky (available in the main parking lot, a smaller lot behind the building off Palms or street parking on overland. Spaces become more available when the yoga classes upstairs finish a class (find the nearest yoga mat holder and follow them to their car... but don't be creepy!) The food: Himalayan fried rice with grilled chicken - so plentiful and filling! Took half of it to go. Coco curry bowl - very flavorful, no notes Manchurian momo - the sauce with it was really spicy. Just the way I like it! The dumplings were juicy and tasty. Very obvious since this place is known for their dumplings! Mango lassi - very creamy and perfect combo with the spice I saw people around us ordering a wide array of dishes which showed me that everything on their menu was worth trying. OMG! Incredible! The line before they open will confirm this. One of my besties told me this was a must, so we came on a Wednesday at 5:15pm, 15 mins before they open and snagged a parking spot. Parking is limited but lots of street parking. We waited patiently by the door. Soon after there were multiple people to follow. We order a bunch of momos. The butter masala and the saag with paneer mixture. Additionally, with got the cauliflower chili and the paneer pakora. Everything was incredible. It was too much food for 2 people but it gave us a ton of leftovers. We left for a hike in Brentwood and came back for dessert. They have a nice selection of ice cream, traditional and Nepali favors. I went for the inquire flavors which was a definite win. There is seating instead and it's snagged up quickly. Luckily, we got there early and didn't have to wait. Seriously. So delicious. There was a delightful surprise of melted cheese sticking some of the dumplings together. Pick up was seamless after ordering from their app. My only regret was that I could not try more of their dipping sauces because they all looked so good from looking at other people's meals in the restaurant. The one that came with my momos was a dark red sauce that overpowered the masala in its spicyness. When I ordered from the app, I picked "spicy" as my spice level but it was unclear to me that the spice level you choose corresponds to the sauce you receive and not the spicyness of the dumplings themselves. Third try was a Friday at 5:15pm (we skipped lunch) to make sure we could get in and not have to wait too long. Tiny parking lot with people coming in from both sides was not any better but we found street parking nearby. We did a quick lookup as we waited outside to see what the internet says about Nepalese food as we LOVE Indian food - "milder, lighter and relies more on fresh vegetables & herbs - focusing on natural flavors of the ingredients rather than heavy sauces" We were hungry and wanted to try lots of things - Butter Masala Momo, Coco Momo, Himalayan Chowmein, and Saag Curry Bowl All good-sized portions, especially the Chowmein but where is the flavor?! I tried their Coco Momo and Butter Masala Momos. Both hits! Great to share among 2-3 people. Don't forget the sauces. My personal favorite were the tamarind and cilantro mayo. The sweet chili has a strong kick of spicy, or I may be a wimp. Their Himalayan Chowmein was also a hit! Very different from Chinese chow mein in a very good way! This place was popping! We got there about 30 mins after it opened and all the tables were taken and there was a line. We ended up ordering the butter masala momo, chicken 65 and the samosas. I wanted to get the chicken lollipop but it was already sold out. The momo was so good. Super flavorful and the filling was juicy. The chicken 65 was also so good. Very crispy with a hint of spice. It was very reminiscent to popcorn chicken with different flavor profile. The samosas were good but definitely not the highlight of the meal. I also go the mango lassi. This was so good. It's so exciting for a restaurant in the difficult landscape of LA get their stars! Momo has increased in popularity and its well deserved. I, like many, saw it on Tiktok and had to try. The first time we went, it was closed unexpectedly on a Monday since they had to make more Momos to keep up in demand!! So we went back Tuesday and there was a line right at open. If you want Momos, try and get there early! But I think they're sorting it out :) Check Instagram for updates. Anyways, we tried the butter masala, coconut, and manchurian. This is my favourite place in Los Angeles and everything here is absolutely delicious. I have been here 2-3 times with my husband and this place made our souls happy. My kids discovered this new and unique eatery in west LA and loved it! Friends who visited Tibet had told me about the Tibetan momos- a popular dumpling with fillings made of chicken, buffalo, and (yike!) yak! I was so so glad to find Momo Souls, where I can get the Tibetan momos without risking Altitude Sickness! We've ordered delivery a few times and we love their Masala momos! The cream sauce is very rich and tasty. It was so rich that I used the leftover sauce to make a pot of Masala chicken after we had the momos. The Achari momos were too salty for our taste! Also love their special sauces - the mint sauce and the Tamarind sauce are two of my favorites. Their cuisine seems similar to some of the Indian dishes that I had; but they are unique and different in some ways. What a wonderful new addition to the Palms neighborhood! I first heard about Momo Souls through a friend's Instagram story, and you know how you can sometimes tell that a restaurant is solid, just from looking at photos of the food? This was one of those instances. Though the restaurant space is small, we got lucky and were able to snag a table after ordering our dinner at the counter. My friends and I ordered the Butter Masala Chicken Momos, Himalayan Chow Mein, and a third dish that I can't quite remember the name of (some sort of spicy sausage stew with rice?). Of the three, the butter masala momos quickly became the standout dish for me. Each bite exploded with creamy, savory goodness that had me coming back for more, more, more! I was impressed with the massive portion size of chow mein, and I enjoyed trying our the different dipping sauces. Although there was a mixup with one of our dishes, I still appreciated the friendly and helpful service from the staff members. I've been here three times already, and every single time my mind is blown by how incredible the food is. I had never tried Nepalese food before, and the best way I can describe it is that it feels like a fusion of Chinese and Indian food, and it's unbelievably good. I honestly haven't had a single bad thing on the menu. The vegetable pakora is amazing. I had never tried it before but it's crispy, flavorful, and addictive. The momos (Nepalese dumplings) are also fantastic. I've tried a few, but the chicken momos are my favorite. They remind me a lot of Chinese dumplings, and the sauces they come with are so good. The Himalayan fried chow mein and Himalayan fried rice are absolutely mind-blowingly good. Everything tastes so fresh and perfectly cooked. I always add the Chicken 65, and it takes both dishes to another level. The service is also amazing. The guy who usually serves us remembers me and my friend every time we come in. It was my first time here and I was absolutely starving so ordered a ton of dishes between two people thinking it wouldn't be that heavy but it totally was. We got the classic curry Momos and the Szechuan chili Momo, an order of noodles, and the chicken curry. Everything was SO GOOD. The momos are fully stuffed with meat inside that I wasn't expecting it to be as solid or filling but you don't need much! I would recommend the curry one over the chili. Momo Souls is a new spot that specializes in momos, aka Nepali/Tibetan dumplings. Having had momos before and loving them, I was especially interested in giving this place a try. Placed my order and went to pick up: it was very quick (within 15-20 minutes) and service was nice and friendly. I ordered a variety of items, including samosas, roti, and three types of momos: Afghan, Manchurian, and Butter Chicken. Just note that Momo Souls' momos are not traditionally-prepared, but rather with different sauces poured on pre-made dumplings. All the same, the verdict: -- Samosas (3.5/5): nice and flaky crust and plenty of potato filling inside, but strangely had a cinnamon flavor to it? I wasn't used to the flavor profile, but texture-wise was tasty. -- Roti (4.5/5): a little on the dry side, but excellent flaky texture. It tasted just as good reheated as leftovers! -- Afghan momos (4/5): creamy sauce that strangely reminded me of Alfredo sauce, but it paired well with the momos! -- Manchurian momos (3/5): sweet chili sauce flavor, reminiscent of Indo-Chinese taste. I opted for medium, and it delivered with a decent kick. Didn't really care for the flavor profile, but a nice try. -- Butter Chicken momos (5/5): creamy and flavorful. Nepalese food is unique with a blend of North Indian and Chinese flavors and techniques. Momos are classic dumplings and momo soul brings the classic flavors from Kathmandu. When you see the word 'schezuan' anything, you know it's the famous schezuan sauce, fiery and bold. They also do the soy chaap, which I have not come across anywhere else in North America. Soy chaap is a meat alternative that's steamed and then fried to mimic chicken or any other meat. It can be had in many different types of curries or sauce bases. I tried the paneer (cottage cheese) momos that come with stir fried peppers and onions in a fiery red schezuan sauce. Soy chaap with schezuan sauce and had a similar stir fry in red sauce to the momos along with a side order of rice that helps mellow out the heat. I also got the coco curry bowl with tofu, think green curry with tofu. Despite asking for medium, unlike the other two dishes that were fiery, this one was mild. You can pick your protein from chicken to soy to paneer depending on the type of dish you get. Overall a very satisfying takeout that lasted over 3 meals. A definite solid addition to the west side that is proudly authentic. Tashi the owner from Kathmandu was sweet and offered us a sample of ice cream while we waited for our order. We will be back to eat in person as they seemed to serve on plant based leafy bowls. Tip: they have fresh home made ice cream that was pretty satisfying, however some flavors may use a bunch of food color, so ask if you are allergic or don't want a multi colored tongue. Tip: if you can handle some spice, go for medium. They bring the flavors of the subcontinent and are not shy in bringing on the heat. I'm normally an adventurous eater that's familiar with a lot of great places on the Westside. However, I've must have passed Momo Souls a million times and never thought to stop by until I saw a TikTok raving about this place and I knew I had to try it. We came in around 6 PM on a Thursday and it was crowded. You were lucky to get a seat or a table, but we waited it out and got a spot. This was likely due to the TikTok rush with a line almost out the door. However, the staff did incredibly well to keep up with the demand and didn't look bothered by the amount of ordered. They were very attentive and receptive whenever we needed something. The food was brought out in a timely manner and it was worth every second of waiting. We ordered two of the momos, samosas, the fried paneer and chow mein. The star of the night was definitely butter masala momo and the sauce was something you'd want to drink. I want it on everything and would try all of their butter masala dishes. Other notables were the samosas which were a must order with the mint chutney sauce and fried paneer although I do wish the cheese was melted on the inside and not solid. I'd probably skip the second Momo we got and the chow mein. Good but not great and I'm sure the other options are much better. If you're looking for a chill place for a great meal, I'd highly suggest Momo Souls. Im not exaggerating!! We never had Nepalese food before did not know what to expect but WOW!! We were blown away. The staff is very patient and generous as they helped us pick what we ordered for our first time in the restaurant. We opted to try the samosas, Chili Momos (chicken) and Butter Masala Momos (chicken). And to our surprise they gave us some complimentary mango lassis. They were also really generous with giving us all the sauces to try with the Momos. The butter masala was the favorite of the two that we tried because the sauce was nice and creamy but not too rich. Was so excited to try this place. Ordered Paneer Butter Masala Momos and a side of paratha. The paratha was great, as was the service. But there was something very wrong with the momos and they tasted foul. I think they made a mistake and gave me vegan filling, which I would normally be flexible about, but it tasted really really bad. I didn't want to disrupt my dining experience so just focused on dipping the paratha in the sauce, which was also really tasty. I brought the momos home to my partner because I figured it was just not to my taste, but as soon as he took a bite, he immediately spat it out and thought there was something wrong with it. We got 3 different momos & 3 curries - they were all good but inconsistent in their quality. 2/3 Momo dishes were overcooked and but the curries were better. I liked the idea of the eco friendly leaf plates that they have, but that too was very inconsistent with some of the bowls being 2 bowls stacked together vs others were like 8-10 stacked together. With our 6 dishes, it think we killed an entire tree's leaves with how many bowls they used. Staff was friendly and doing their best with the volume of people coming in. The consistency of the dumplings was chewy and enjoyable, but I would not go back for them. I had to try the Saag, which is always my favorite. Unfortunately, it was so tasteless I gave up on it. I tried the chow mien and a couple different dumpling varieties people were talking about to make sure it wasn't just one dish. I really wanted to love everything.
