I took my in laws here for my graduation dinner and it did not disappoint. We have a really high bar for high end Indian food. We got: Onion bhajia- I will dream about this. It was the perfect crispness and flavor. 10/10 Butter chicken samosa- I liked it but it only came as 1 samosa and idk with butter chicken I expect more sauciness in the filling. 8/10 Lamb chop laal Maas - my in laws love lamb and it hit their standards 10/10 Chicken tikka poutine - this is my favorite at all the badmaash's. I could eat this everyday 10/10 Fish moilee - idk why I order this all the time but get disappointed. It needs curry leaves and more savor. 7/10. Steak frites - this was the star and we all loved it. 10/10. The sauce was fantastic and served tableside. Rice pudding - they heard it was my husbands bday so they gave us this on the house, but I should have ordered it. This and the kulfi were my favorite desserts. They toast coconut on top and it makes all the difference 10/10 Parle G ice cream - my in laws liked this but I didn't get the appeal. I feel like it was a little lazy for an expensive dessert. They're better off making a cake or tiramisu style dessert with it. This is my review so it's getting a 6/10 Pista Kulfi - my favorite other than the rice pudding. It felt homemade but also elevated bc I could tell they toasted all the pistachios before making it. Also it wasn't too sweet. 10/10 I also ordered an Arnold Palmer which was perfect with this meal. Per their website, Badmaash is "an Indian joint in Los Angeles that has nice wine & cold beer," with locations in DTLA, Fairfax, and now Venice on Abbott Kinney. I visited the Venice location, which seems to be their newest outpost. I came because someone told me, "You have to try Badmaash," so I figured, why not? Our group was seated at the outdoor counter overlooking Abbott Kinney and happened to catch the tail end of the Venice Run Club's "Mobbin Wednesday" 4.5-mile group run. I've never seen so many toned and incredibly fit people in one place - but I had to refocus on the menu ... I was there for the food. The menu takes familiar Indian favorites and elevates them with creative twists and modern presentation. While you'll recognize many of the dishes, they're clearly curated with a more contemporary approach than your typical neighborhood Indian restaurant. The flavors remain authentic but are refined, making each dish feel both comforting and unique. The atmosphere is casual yet trendy, making it a great spot whether you're grabbing a quick bite or lingering over drinks. If you're looking for Indian food that respects tradition while embracing creativity, Badmaash is well worth a visit. Badmaash has been on my list of places I want to try on Abbot Kinney and it did not disappoint. Parking is only street or the lots behind the buildings on the East side of the street. I went on a Sunday evening so parking wasn't terrible. The service was great and very accommodating. I recommend getting reservations because it filled up! The place was charming as well. They had real candles behind the bar as decor. Fancy! The food was decent. They don't give you the option of spice level so that tells me it's going to be toned down. The Badmaash Chicken Tikka was the only dish we ordered that had a little kick to it. Overall the dishes had flavor. Would have been better if it had a little spice to it but we are in Venice so I can understand. The saag paneer was ok, something was definitely missing from what I am used to in an Indian dish but I was mindful this place is considered fusion. The rosemary naan was ok, the fries was fabulous! I highly recommend you get that and the Badmaash chicken Tikka. The spritz was also refreshing. Overall, I think this is a nice trendy place that is good for date night. read more

BADMAASH Venice is SOO GOOD. Finally open to the public They'd been running this space as delivery for a while, but it opened March 27, so I had to check it out Service stands out immediately. The waiters are so warm and attentive. Plus the ambiance is very vibey. It's a dim, intimate restaurant. Oldies playing. They even played "Gole Yakh" and my heart melted I got the crispy yogurt puffs, chicken tikka poutine, lamb neck korma, Goan pork curry. It was all so perfect, I'm excited to try more of their dishes next time apparently everything is good and you can't go wrong. Yogurt puffs- super crispy with really yummy and bright chutney Poutine- fries stayed crispy and the chicken was stunning Lamb neck korma- my favorite. Very tender, falls apart. Rosemary naan + that roasted cashew/hazelnut sauce was delicious Goan pork curry- my new favorite comfort food Order naan. The saucier dishes need it. I went here with 2 friends for an early weekday dinner at 530. We made a reservation online a few weeks prior. We were seated inside right at our reservation time. We ordered the chili cheese naan, mushrooms, eggplant dish, chicken tikka poutine, short rib and coconut curry mussels. My favorite of them all were the chicken tikka poutine (partly because I love poutine), the naan and the mussels. I thought the short rib was average and probably can get better somewhere else. The mushroom was really tasty and the eggplant was good but not what I expected based on the description. All our dishes together was about $200 including tax and tip. Would definitely want to come again to try some of the other dishes. It's located right on Abbott Kinney, found street parking though can be tough during certain times. read more

I love Badmaash! First time at the Venice location, and it definitely didn't disappoint. The vibe is completely different from the Fairfax one, but in the best way. We genuinely enjoyed every single item we ordered. My favorite was the steak frites -- luckily, we got the last order! It was incredibly juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The cocktails were also amazing: super refreshing and perfect for a summer vibe. And the service deserves a special mention. Honestly, this might've actually been the worst Indian food I've ever had. Pretty much everything was under-seasoned and mediocre at best. I've heard such good things so this was so disappointing:,) The chicken tikka tasted like tomato soup and was sweet?? The goat kebab was soooo tiny!! I was shocked when it came out, it looked like something off the childrens menu. It had good flavor for the kebab itself but the sauce it came in did nothing to enhance it, The short rib was SOO tender, it was perfectly cooked. But there was no flavor at all, just tasted like meat lol. Also warning - they don't let you ajust spice level and it comes with negative spice. Also every dish was borderline room temperature, not hot at all. Overall would not recommend and it's very $$ for the amount of food you get. Loved the pure Venice-cool vibe--think hip-hop soundtracks, a flashy orange marquee, and high energy buzz throughout the room (probably in part because of how hard it is to nab a rez). Some of our favorites were their crispy yogurt puri cup starter (MUST GET!), their signature Chicken Tikka Poutine, the lamb neck korma, and the oyster mushroom laal. Thought the chicken tikka, black lentil daal, and the mussels fell a little flat...they all could have used a bit more seasoning/spice. Such a fun vibe here! The ambiance is dark and moody, the music is a little loud but not impossible to hear conversation. This was our first time here and we got the fried fish bites which had an amazing gluten free chickpea batter that was seasoned incredibly and served with a paprika aioli and mango chutney. We then got butter chicken and the yellow lentils. The yellow lentils were fine, but when compared the complexity and flavor of the butter chicken it didn't really stand a chance. The butter chicken was incredible, I could probably drink the sauce it was so good. Yellow Lentils are a very neutral flavor and almost had more of a simple soup vibe, we'll probably try something else instead next time. Wait staff was friendly and didn't feel overbearing. The overall consensus was that Badmaash suffers from being good, but frustratingly fails to clear the hurdle to being great. No notes on the butter chicken samosa, it's one of the better items we tried. The poutine felt like a missed opportunity to incorporate more exotic flavors and bordered on bland. The short rib was victim to the same issue, was incredibly tender but again, was disappointingly bland. The eggplant was bitingly spicy, but had little depth of flavor. The coconut rice pudding was a highlight, served cold with a great sprinkling of shredded and toasted coconut. I don't think we'll be back, but if you're looking for an approachable Indian restaurant for a group with varying levels of experience, Badmaash might suit you. read more

Was surprised and delighted to see that we could order Badmaash on the Westside through DoorDash! Apparently they have a location on Abbot Kinney in Venice that isn't open for regular business yet but is accepting delivery and pickup orders on DoorDash. We got the butter chicken, fish fry, saag paneer, samosas, naan, and mango lassi. Of course everything was delicious, and the flavors were very pronounced. Food arrived still hot. Dined at Badmaash on Abbot Kinney last night. Everything was excellent from the service to the food to the ambiance. We ordered the butter chicken samosa, chicken tikka, the short rib, rice, and garlic naan. All were excellent and flavorful we cleaned the plates. Our server Christopher also went above and beyond. Perfect dining experience. We've been to the one in the Hollywood area and expected something similar but were blown away by this new location's more modern and upscale design. They still managed a relaxing and welcoming vibe, and seated us instantly regardless of how crowded they were and given we were also in sweats and shorts. Love that! The food was absolutely delicious like their other locations and they added a couple unique dishes to their menu here. The staff were all super friendly and professional and extremely attentive to everything even clearing the table after every course. The only little thing that might need work was one of the hostesses who never smiled or said bye or thank you on our way out. They took my food allergies seriously and were able to easily tell me what was gluten free. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. We sampled many things from the menu but the oyster mushrooms, the butter chicken, and the vindaloo were some of our favorites. The sauce for the coconut mussels I could have drank from the bowl. Extremely underwhelming experience at the newly opened Badmaash in Venice. The food was edible, but overall surprisingly bland for Indian cuisine. It felt like the restaurant was trying too hard to be modern and trendy, while missing the depth and flavor that make Indian food great in the first place. Overall it was an ok experience! We went to Badmaash at their DTLA location many years ago which was good, so thought would give the new Venice spot a try. Food is quite overpriced for the food quality and portion level. The samosas are $16 for 2 which was very bland with filling of potatoes and peas with no spices, paani poori was bit better! For 3 entrees and 3 appetizers we spent close to $250 which in our opinion was not worth it. The palette is suited for people who may either be newer to Indian cuisine or prefer fusion flavors, for us it was not an authentic flavor experience. I thought that the food was ok. Felt like an indian restaurant with upscale prices and not upscale food. Everything was good but nothing great. We all did think our drinks were great. We got the yogurt puffs (wouldn't recommend), both the samosas (overpriced for something you could get at an all inclusive buffet), the tikka masala (didn't care for), the oyster mushrooms (good but wish they has some indian twist with spices or sauce). The best two items of the night were the short rib (no complaints on this) and the butter chicken. The butter chicken was way better than the tikka but it had 6 pieces of chicken in it! Not sure if they skimped out on us because the tikka did have more. But I think that is ridiculous for a place that you are supposed to share plates at. Every detail from the Action Bronson painting to the gorgeous curtains painted by Nakul himself makes you want to stay for hours and have just one more drink and one more bite. The Mussels are a must, swimming in the most delicious light and coconuty broth. I dream of the chili cheese naan and samosas. There is a dish for every palate and extensive vegan options. The service is warm and impeccable, and it's a joy to see the whole family greet the first guests on opening weekend. I can't wait to return when the full menu is launched soon!!! read more

For naan butter chicken sauce and desert almost $100. I wouldn't have been upset if it was large portions but the butter chicken came in a huge bowl filled with sauce and legit 3 pieces of chicken. My girlfriends treated me to dinner at Baadmash last night for a belated birthday meal and we all agreed it was hands down one of the best meals we've ever had in LA. As 4 British girls, its fair to say we like our Indian cuisine! We were given a perfect table next to the window at the front of the restaurant and we started with a round of dirty martinis and the crispy yogurt puffs (which are basically bitesize popadums filled with light delicious cucumber yogurt). We also sampled the Onion Bhajjia Fritter and Butter Chicken and Potato and Pea Somosas - both full of flavor and a decent size to share. The Butter Chicken deserves all the accolades it receives - lots of delicious chicken with a rich, creamy sauce. My friend has a severe tomato allergy, (obviously a little tricky at an Indian restaurant!) but she was recommended the Coconut Curry Mussels and it didn't disappoint! Definitely a highlight! We also tried the fried Okra and Potato side, the pickled veggies (VERY spicy!) and the Peaches with mint, cilantro and a sticky mango sauce - all absolutely fantastic! We had a bottle of the Legras & Haas Champagne which was perfect! Besides from the outstanding food, the service was flawless! Phia was so warm, friendly, helpful and kind - she was attentive and made some great suggestions, and her colleague Dion bought us the complimentary pickles and peaches when there was a slight delay with one of our entrees! We all left saying we cant wait until to come back!! If you cant get a reservation - try and grab a walk-up reservation on the day.
