Oyster mushrooms & black lentil daal
    Sean B.

Loved the pure Venice-cool vibe--think hip-hop soundtracks, a flashy orange marquee, and high energy buzz throughout the room (probably in part because of how hard it is to nab a rez). Some of our favorites were their crispy yogurt puri cup starter (MUST GET!), their signature Chicken Tikka Poutine, the lamb neck korma, and the oyster mushroom laal. Thought the chicken tikka, black lentil daal, and the mussels fell a little flat...they all could have used a bit more seasoning/spice. Save room for the chai chocolate pot du creme for dessert...SOOO good! Fia was our server and she CRUSHED IT! So good with recommendations and checking in.

My new top 5 best in LA @badmaashla in Venice!! The yogurt puffs are a culinary experience themselves. From the chili cheese naan, butter chicken samosa, coconut curry mussels (my fave), chicken tikka masala, okra and more this is the best Indian food I've ever had!

Was surprised and delighted to see that we could order Badmaash on the Westside through DoorDash! Apparently they have a location on Abbot Kinney in Venice that isn't open for regular business yet but is accepting delivery and pickup orders on DoorDash. We got the butter chicken, fish fry, saag paneer, samosas, naan, and mango lassi. Of course everything was delicious, and the flavors were very pronounced. Food arrived still hot. Excited to try more things!

Amazing staff + service and delicious food. The mussels and butter chicken samosas were really good but the steak frites are a must get item

There were four bite pieces of chicken in the chicken tikka masala.... I'm all for restaurants succeeding but that is unacceptable.

My girl friend is Vegetarian and I eat meat, they made all the adjustments she requested with her little picky eating self (haha) and made my tikka masala the perfect amount of spicy. It's a small restaurant with full sized windows so you can see the blue sky and palm trees while you eat! Manjit was our server and he was so hospitable, took great care of us and was so helpful with making adjustments, aiding us with pronunciation (haha) and making us feel right at home. 12/10 all around, come here!!! The place was empty when we came in around 3PM, they deserve more business and more people deserve to try their amazing food. That is all!!

Cocktails were gorgeously presented but some flavors (like cardamom) were barely detectable. Avocado burrata chaat was also gorgeous but the three tiny drops of tamarind chutney were grossly insufficient. We asked for and received more and it really brought the dish to like and balanced all the creaminess of cheese and avocado. The lamb rogan Josh needed at least 6-8 hours more slow cooking both for tenderness as well as development of flavors in the sauce. It mostly tasted like tomato sauce. The artichoke saag was definitely the standout of the meal. We skipped dessert as nothing really spoke to us. Ambience is nice but music selection is odd - would have preferred some nice ragas to the blaring Grateful Dead and Bjork. Service was fine but our waiter seemed very unsure when we asked questions. Glad I tried this meal so I finally have an idea what Fitoor but I doubt I'll be back.

He made the experience even more welcoming! FOOD: The food is absolutely delish. The chicken curry? Perfect. Just make sure to get a level of spice you can handle as my friend ordered some and didn't lol. The garlic Naan (my favorite) was excellent ! perfect balance of crisp and fluff. But I have to rave about 2 things, the vegetable dish and the history! 2 FAV THINGS: -I didn't order the vegetable dish but I WISH I had. It's like this wonderful looking stew. It looks packed with flavor and...curry? We also learned how long the restaurant has been in the area for. My memory blows, but I think he said 1990. -I love that it's very much a family business from what I was told. Not everyone eats at the restaurant they own. However, apparently the owner here does along with his fam. I'm just very into community and family so that's always nice to hear. AMBIANCE: The restaurant is small and cozy with what seems like traditional music playing :-). The guys in the kitchen also seem very polite as I went past them to use the bathroom. Which was spotless :-). Only suggestion & question: 1.)I can't recall if they have a changing table? And as a new mother I look out for that all the time hehe. Also, I'm not sure about parking. I take a ride-share when I'm there. They are on a hill and might have parking in the back? 2.)I have never been there to see if/when they do a buffet, but the menu is awesome. Something for everyone. If you are in the area and want some delicious authentic Indian food that's a part of the community, this is for you. And if your not sure about ingredients, just ask :-). Enjoy!

The smell and flavors have never appealed to me, but I decided to come out of my comfort zone and try something different. Plus for some reason everyone is all about the butter chicken right now and I've been wanting to try it. So I ordered Uber eats from here since its close and popular. I think Im converted. I played it safe and ordered butter chicken, chicken Tikka masala and garlic naan. It was all amazing! Again I don't have anything to compare it to cause I don't generally eat it but It was delicious to me. I did expect some level of spice/heat which would have been nice but there was none, but again Im not familiar with the dish. My only gripe is I paid about $40 before Uber charges and expected the naan to be included or at least RICE. Nothing, I paid $6 extra for 2 little pieces of naan, not nearly enough to finish the meal and felt a little ripped off. I would like to go back in person and maybe get a combo or special or something not available on the app to see if I get more for my money.

And the food went from decent to absolutely bad. We've order most of the curries on the menu, and have never been let down by the quality of their food, but we usually fall back on a few favorite dishes. It always satisfies. The Lamb Achaar is terrific with its savory, spicy, and tangy flavors and has become my favorite. The Chef's Special curry is also terrific. We've had it several times with every meat option available, and shrimp is the way to go. Their Saag Paneer is one of the better ones on the westside. And the Eggplant Dish (Baigan Bharta) is fantastic. If you're looking for Indian food in the area, I highly recommend Rita's Gate of India.

Him: Hold on, let me see if we have any samosas. Returns to the table and says yes we have one Samosa left. Now, when have you ever been in an Indian restaurant when an order of samosas wasn't two?? But he was trying to tell us that the five dollar Samosa was just one. Ummm....I don't think so. Ok no problem just give us the one. Me: And then we'd like to order the korma and add potatoes (again). Him: We can't do that. Me: Why? Him: Because we can't. Me: Wait. You have potatoes in another curry right? So can't you just take the potatoes that you would use in that curry and add some to the korma? Him: No sorry. Us: See ya! We headed back to our neighborhood joint in Woodland Hills, which was packed with people and warm and festive and friendly with always amazing customer service!
