Little known neighborhood gem, family owned, generous portions and friendly staff. As a Korean person, I would like to think I know Korean food. I highly recommend this Korean fusion place where you can get authentic Korean food and creative twists on OG recipes. A picture is worth a thousand words so I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

Occupying space next to Vons with big dining space and plenty of parking. Simple seats with no fancy design, but comfy enough. They closed quite early in the evening but opened from lunch time. They did provide self order kiosk but you could also order in person. BTC itself represented what they offered, Burger Chicken and Taco. All dishes had Korean touch so we certainly got their Korean Fried Chicken in Spicy Korean sauce. We loved that the portion was great for the price and the sauce was finger lickin' good. Wish the meat could be juicier, but still pretty decent! We tried some of the tacos including Beef Bulgogi and Spicy Beef Rib. They were probably pricier at $6, but taste were luscious! Both were flavorful and great in their own way and toppings were plenty here. I wasn't that much into their tortilla, but could compensate that it wasn't their expertise. The seasoning certainly was the highlight.

Left Beef Bulgogi Taco. Right Pulled Braise Beef Taco.

I've been wanting to try this place since I saw the sign go up and it didn't disappoint! I got the Korean Fried Chicken wings. I love that it allowed you to try two different flavors (10 or more wings. I tried the plain and the Soy Garlic. The crunch and seasoning is so good! They didn't skimp on the garlic flavor in the Soy Garlic. Loved that! Definitely recommend the Fried Chicken Skins. Not overly seasoned and again, that crunch just put it over the top. My bf got the Braised Pulled Beef tacos and the Bulgogi taco. He thought they were going to be the size of street tacos, but they were regular size. He said the Braised Pulled Beef was amazing. So tender it just melts in your mouth. Slightly sweet, but well balanced. The Bulgolgi was just as good. Seasoned well blends well with the tortilla and cilantro and onions. The food was so good we went back 2 days later. He got the Spicy Korean Galbi Beef Rib Taco. Not heavily spiced but just as well flavored and tender as the Braised Beef & Bulgolgi. We'll definitely be back again.

Do NOT sleep on this place- it's the very definition of hole-in-the-wall! The interior may seem a bit shoddy with the patio chairs, minimal decor, and music playing from a JBL speaker, which does not match the eclectic menu at all. Such a strange mix of Korean fusion. Even the banchan is unusual, coming with egg salad and soy quail eggs rather than the more common banchan dishes you'd find at any other Korean restaurant. Despite all this, though, you'll find great value for the price you pay! Food came out under 10 minutes. The portions are an appropriate size for the price; I was actually impressed with the thickness of their wings, and their wings definitely have that signature Korean fried chicken crunch. The wings were definitely my favorite amongst my order. I also tried out their signature mashed potato balls, something I wasn't really expecting at a Korean fusion spot, but those were also gas. Definitely coming back here to try something else on the menu and recommend others do the same!

American Korean Fusion spot. Happen to be in the area and decided to give this a shot. Pleasantly surprised by how well everything was made and tasted. Service was friendly and nice. Bento was good with a lot of variety of side dishes which I appreciate. Burger was good and waffle fries are always a welcome side. The chili fries were ok. It's kinda rare but I wanna say they put too much on there. Like the fries got soggy really quick and there kind of wasn't enough fries. Especially with them being waffle fries, you end up with a bunch of toppings left and no fries to go with them. Wings were delicious and well made. I would get those again easily.

My boyfriend and I tried this prior to getting on a flight as it is our neighborhood eatery about two blocks from us I really wanted to like this place as I was told by other neighbors it was pretty decent Five dollars for a Thai tea moderately the chicken sandwich was OK and my boyfriend got the pork cutlet in gravy Food was decent not sure come back. The chicken sandwich didn't sit with me later on and my stomach started to hurt and I was experiencing some acid reflux. I think that there were other eateries in the neighborhood that are with going back to prior to me checking out BTC again

Stopped in for takeout today. It's not a space that is suited for dine-in, basically looks/feels like a ghost kitchen. Ordered Bulgogi Burger and Soy-Garlic chicken bites to go. Food was super solid, good crunch on the chicken and bulgogi sandwich was well assembled. Slightly salty, but all bulgogi is. Idk who Chef Kang is, but food was good. $25 total which is totally reasonable, portions were plentiful and filling.

Fried chicken sandwich, prepared nicely.

We remember the slow transition of this building from KFC to Cherry on Top yogurt and poke (an interesting pairing). We saw the signs for "BTC by Chef Kang opening soon!" We looked forward to checking out this new establishment, we're glad we did! We had a family gathering there so we were able to try different dishes. Everything was great! I tried the Korean beef bulgolgi burger combo. The price seemed a bit high until the meal arrived. The portions are generous, along with good sides in add to the waffle fries. The burger was really good, I'd never had bulgolgi served in a burger before. I made a good choice. Other family members had the fried chicken sandwich (nicely prepared) and the chicken burrito (my son had to take it home, it was a lot). What I will try next time is the bento box. My brother-in-law and younger son both ordered the chicken cutlet curry bento. So much food, all of it good! The cutlet was wonderful, the curry a good compliment, it also came with potato salad, a green salad, a potato ball, a bit of chap chae noodles, picked radishes, marinated mushrooms, and a scoop of rice. Again, a lot of food that was a good value. The atmosphere is rather basic, but that's not why we went there. The cuisine is awesome. My brother-in-law was visiting from the East San Gabriel Valley, quite the distance, yet he wants another BTC visit. I'll be joining him!

Excellent bento box value - two can dine on a big bento. Lots of unusual and tasty items -- potato croquette, stewed quail eggs, shrimp tempura -- that you don't often find in a Korean bento. The curry katsu pork was so Delish! Goes great with jasmine rice. The fried chicken drums were good, with sauces on the side. K-FC is all about the sauces. But IMO great fried chicken, like a great steak, needs no sauce. It's all about properly seasoning the batter and marinating the meat.

I love this place! The westside has been needing a good Korean food spot and this is it! Portions were huge, food was absolutely delicious, the service was quick, and the workers were so so kind. This will be a regular spot for me. Yay!

Jjajangmyun (Black Bean Noodles)

Fantastic service, great food. Really delicious Korean oasis on the Westside. My son said, "This is the best bento ever!!"

i was pleasantly surprised by BTC -- now i know i don't need to venture all the way to koreatown to get quality korean food. i think this was previously a fast food place, so it could use a bit of an ambience touch-up. i thought i was going in for a quick bite, but the portions were much larger than i realized! the prices were also higher than expected, but after seeing and experiencing the bento box and burrito, i can dig it. let's start with the short rib bento box. i don't think i've ever had a bento box so filled to the brim, with such a large variety of food. every single food item was delicious and played its part like a no-skip music album. even the salad was topped with a creamy sesame dressing that turned my anti-salad boyfriend into a believer. and of course, the short rib (galbi) was as authentic and flavorful as what you'd get from a quality kbbq. the bulgogi burrito was a banger. i didn't think ingredients like pinto beans could blend so well with bulgogi beef. but wow, chef kang does it masterfully. you've got to try it to believe in this big beautiful blend of mexican and korean culture. it comes with a green sauce that gives it a tartness for some next-level flavor. hats off to chef kang! i'm excited to come back and try everything else on the menu.

There was plenty of parking, the line moved quickly, and the employees were courteous and professional from the moment we arrived. Most importantly! THEY HAD EVERYTHING. Fresh biscuits? Yes. Fully stocked menu? Yes. Good customer service? Absolutely. The biscuits were fresh, hot, buttery, and delicious, exactly how I remembered Pioneer Chicken growing up in Los Angeles. We honestly ate them on the drive home because they were THAT good. You could immediately feel the better energy and management at this location. People were constantly coming in and out, yet the staff still handled things efficiently and professionally. As someone born and raised in LA, Pioneer Chicken is nostalgic for me, and this Boyle Heights location felt much closer to the Pioneer I remember. I will definitely return to this location again. Thank you to the Boyle Heights staff for saving Mother's Day dinner. Sorry I didn't take a picture of the biscuits, the aroma took over, the box was opened and my mouth ate before my camera! ha ha ha

I really appreciated the honesty and passion for quality. I came here eyeing on the uni pasta, so I had to go for it. Maybe he was right, it was just OK. It wasn't necessarily the uni itself, but the pasta and cream sauce felt slightly overcooked and a bit dry. It could've used more sauce to bring everything together. Still, no ragrets (iykyk). It's something you should try here . We also ordered the hand roll trio and toro, which was yummy. The fish was fresh, beautifully cut, and served in generous pieces.
