Fried Calamari

Food and service were so excellent. It's nice to still see mom and pop places give good quality food and portions for affordable prices. The ambiance is very small and quaint but it is a perfect intimate date spot or perfect to order food to go!

Thai Fried Rice with Shrimp

When a Meal Becomes a Reminder Food: (4 out of 5) Service/Experience: (2 out of 5) Overall: (3 out of 5) I visited Taste Kitchen Thai Food Restaurant in West L.A. on Sepulveda because I had a serious craving for Thai shrimp fried rice. The restaurant is takeout only -- which was fine, because I planned to eat in my car. The food came out fast, the portion was generous, and the shrimp fried rice was solid. What stuck with me wasn't the food. It was the way something simple -- asking for an extra chili sauce packet -- turned into a whole situation. I asked for one packet and it already felt like I was pushing it. I asked for a second -- because of the size of the portion -- and the woman froze, like I had crossed some invisible line. Had I been white, I doubt it would've even been a question. Two packets would've been handed over without hesitation. And if I had been sharing the meal? One packet wouldn't have been enough for two people -- barely enough for one. They smiled and told me to enjoy my meal, but by then, the moment had already happened. Eating in my car wasn't the issue. Trying to eat with a flimsy, tiny fork that couldn't even hold the food was. For the kind of portions they serve, better utensils aren't optional -- they're basic. Being a Black customer means these aren't isolated incidents. They are constant reminders: even the smallest ask gets weighed differently. The food was good. The message behind it was louder.

This is how it looks like inside.

One of my favorite Thai dishes, Khao Soi. Not every restaurant has it on their menu, but they do. It was delicious! I went around 2:30pm on a Wednesday. There were a lot of people getting take out orders. Please note there are only three tables.

Good food , good service, nice attitude, staying late. It was my first , but definitely not the last time. Give them a try.

While watching Sunday Night Football I was in the mood for some spicy Thai food. I had never tried The Taste kitchen, so I gave it a try and was not disappointed. I ordered the Chef's Special Khao Soi with Chicken. My spice level was Spicy as Thai spicy is extremely Spicy. The spice level was perfect and the portion was generous. This dish was very flavorful and also came with hard noodles that I'd didn't eat. Overall I was impressed with this dish and would order from them again.

Pad see ew with beef, was amazing. And yellow curry with chicken.

Wanted to try a new local Thai joint with my dad and this place did not disappoint. We have high expectations when it comes to asian food and love our hole in the wall places, and this has to be a new one for the list. I was able to make a reservation for Wednesday night which was nice as the restaurant was only like five tables and surprisingly got busy for a late mid week dinner. We shared the pad see ew, pad Thai, yellow curry and Thai tea and Thai iced coffee. We genuinely enjoyed everything. The drinks had the perfect flavor and were super creamy. The pad see ew was by far my favorite. The sweet noodles with the beef and veggies were perfectly cooked and I'm so glad I had leftovers. The yellow curry was my second favorite, we got it with chicken and rice. The only thing is I wish we had bowls for it as the curry is incredibly thin and it's hard to eat off a plate. The pad Thai was beautiful and had great flavor. We got the combination of seafood and meats, it was good and had tons of flavor. The food came out relatively quick and it was all so fresh. The flavors were spot on. The waitress was super sweet and packaged up our leftovers for the both of us. She gave us our time and didn't rush us out, we actually had to ask for the check because she really just wanted to let us enjoy our meal. It's a really cute hole in the wall/mom and pop shop which are my favorite businesses to support. You can tell this is authentic Thai food, some of the best I've had.

Found this place on Yelp and now I'm a fan. Met my friend here and it was our first time. Delicious and authentic food. Great service and attentive staff. It's a little place that is large on flavor. We both enjoyed the food that we ordered. From starting with the Crispy Cream Cheese wonton, to the Drunken Noodle and Pineapple Fried Rice the presentation and portions. Looking forward to eating here again and thanks to ladies or letting my friend and I catch up for over 2 hours. The Thai Iced Tea was so refreshing.

Pineapple fried rice with chicken & shrimp (has a yummy curry kick) and Hot Pot Wonton Soup! A must try!

I've been coming here for over 6 years now and this place deserves an updated review. I no longer live nearby and I still make the drive to come to my favorite Thai restaurant. They know me by name- no shame and honestly so sweet. This family run business is truly a gem and all of their dishes are absolutely incredible! Love their Tom Yum, wonton soup, beef boat noodle soup, yellow curry and all of their fried rice dishes. Honestly you can't go wrong with anything! An absolute favorite!

I can't taste the kitchen but I can taste the taste coming from the GREAT kitchen here at Taste Kitchen. Speedy service and very nice flavor on all their offerings. We threw down with PHAD THAI DRUNKEN NOODLE Both were very good. Parking is tight but it is what it is...it's an L.A. thing! We'll be back!

Do you have your own parking lot? Is a safe neibor hood parking on the street?

There is a parking lot for about 8 cars; but, it is shared with a liquor store and Papa John's Pizza (they seem to have two cars shuttling for deliveries) This mini-mall is nestled in a neighborhood that have all curbside parking taken… Read more

This place feels like home because of how small it is. There are still several tables, indoor and outdoor, but usually only one hostess/server/busser that you see there. She's great:) Food is fresh, light and flavorful. My favorite is the bbq pork fried rice. Also, I like to the potstickers, served on the most interesting lightly sweet peanut sauce. Delightful. Decent Thai tea too! While sitting to enjoy my rare lunch away from work, I noticed a lot of takeout customers flowing through. The server was friendly and made helpful suggestions as it was my first time. The restaurant is off the beaten path with a welcoming vibe. Parking can be tricky (limited), but the food is worth it. You have to option to choose your spice level, which is always a plus. We've already made plans to go back in a couple of weeks. This time, I will try more items and probably get food to take home as well.

We used to always order them lunch special, I personally loved their khao soi and crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli. Their spicy beef salad, tom kha chicken soup and when tigers cry were also really good and highly recommended. Their pad Thai and pad see ew were good but they felt just standard for a Thai restaurant. The only downside it the food takes forever if you order ahead. Like I'm talking 40-60 mins for a to go order and when they give you that estimate, they're not lying. It really does take that long for the food. This is the best Thai food west of Jitlada! Had a splendid meal at Ayara tonight. A friend from rural Oregon is staying with us and she was starved for good Thai food. Started with the fried calamari- love it when it includes the tentacles. Duck salad, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Yellow Curry, and Bok Choi followed. Highly recommend eating family-style so that everyone has a taste of all the dishes. The Pad See Ew and Yellow Curry are some of the best examples of these classic dishes we have had in L.A. Finished with an excellent Mango Sticky Rice plus a Mango Sorbet. These desserts were so fresh. Love it when mangoes are in-season. Our house-guest gave the experience a 10/10. Ample, free parking; friendly staff; indoor and outdoor seating; and very good value for a foodie-satisfying meal. Reservations available through OpenTable. And, they just added a full liquor license. Bon Appétit!
