Tucked behind Sepulveda East and 87th, Araya is located behind all the LAX madness in a cozy walkable "L" shape street corner with a few shops and bookstore. It's a short old town street of Westchester reminiscent of the 50s shops. Ayara is cozy and it's jam packed so it's best to make reservations. We usually get food delivered from Ayara Thai but decided to make it a sit down experience. Ayara is always solid after our experience we need to come in person more often... Especially if it's Patty who was serving our table. She makes all the difference. Funny, energetic, and wants to make sure you have an experience. Take out food from here is solid but even better when it's dine in. We had the regular.. Papaya salad, Pad Thai, Pad Dee Yu, fried rice.. The dishes I enjoyed the most is the spicy basil with crispy pork. Yah, like lechon! Tasty! We also had Khao soi which is a curry broth soup over crispy egg noodle that wilders down. Pretty good. The whole fried branzino was also delicious. Served with vermicelli, herbs and sauces and lettuce to make yourself a Thai fish taco. Super crispy with the head on and eyes staring right at you. I've never had shrimp pad pong kari which is a dish that Patty said we needed to get. I'm glad we did cause them shrimps where big juicy like the cocktail shrimp ones in a curry powder, chili paste, egg, peppers, and the works. Very good dish. For dessert, we had a mango sorbet. Very rich in mango flavor. No skipping on mangos there. Forget In N Out coming from LAX, come here instead if there are tables available.

One of my top fav Thai restaurants in LA! And you know there are many but only a handful of good ones and this falls amongst my top 5 in LA! This time I tried their classic papaya salad, spicy basil, and green curry. A must if you love green curry! The papaya salad was fresh and crunchy! And Spicy Basil was solid! It was my first time trying it and it was very tasty :) Service is friendly and fast! The vibe and ambiance is nice with dimmed lights inside but it can get very loud if there are large parties with every table filled. Parking available on the street and nearby lots.

Hell yes.. I came here after dropping off my cousin at LAX and this did not disappoint AT ALL... It was decently priced and I can understand why so many people come here on their lunch breaks now. Its not the greatest thai food but everything feels portioned out just right and the flavor is there. Its very fair for the price and also very quick. It's not blow your mind amazing but if you're craving thai food and want something quick this spot is the place to go. There's also a lot of out door seating as well or you can just take it to go.

I stand corrected! Read my 3 rating review from 2008 and man was I not a visionary! That review may have been true in 2008 but I've been going there since and getting the same thing and their game is on point! These are my favs: Chicken or Shrimp Panang Curry Combo Thai Fried Rice with fried egg Crab Fried Rice Thai Beef Jerky Drunken Noodles Veggie add the fish sauce it's delish Green Curry with Beef I've tried a bunch of things but these are my favs. Plus the mango sticky rice when in season it's delish! Service is always good and yes they're usually busy so be prepared to wait! The ambience inside can be loud but it's casual and chill. There's seating all the way in the back and outside in front. They kept their COVID license to seat outside. It's pricey but imho it's the best Thai in LA and arguably in California or anywhere except Thailand!

My experience at Ayara was wonderful... even with two young children along for the ride! The papaya salad had wonderful flavor and a great kick. For my entree I had the pad see ew with chicken and ate the entire thing. I don't think I've ever done that with Thai food, but it was too delicious to leave anything behind! The ambience and service were wonderful. There was a chill atmosphere and our server couldn't have been nicer. He brought out plastic dishes for the kiddos which was very kind and handled our large group patiently and didn't miss a thing.

Amazing delicious food. Got the wings for starters- crispy and well seasoned. Tom Kha soup with mushrooms and veggies- a tad sour but the mushrooms were very good. Chicken pad se ew- a great must. Busy restaurant but smooth customer service. Clean compact restaurant where they make it spacious.

My review is for takeout. It came well prepped for the ride to avoid mess from spillage and taped to avoid being opened before I received it. I submitted pictures for that. I got pad Thai with 4 shrimp which at first I was disappointed by the clearly divulged amount but they are nice size for 4. The pad Thai had great flavor also noted some yummy garlic kick to it made it even better. I got the green curry only made medium spice also so delicious lots of vegetables, great taste of basil in it. Mango sticky rice was delicious. I'm so satisfied with room for a meal tomorrow.

Great little Thai restaurant near LAX. It's a small space with a few tables to recommend making reservations since it does get pretty busy in the evenings. My favorite dish was the Duck Nom Tok! It's a Thai style salad and with some sticky rice is so good. The Ayara Toast is tasty and super cute too with little elephant cut outs of toast with ground pork and shrimp fried! The Passion Fruit Smore is also a great dessert to get! Also appreciate how active this restaurant is within the community! I've seen them represented at a lot of local food festivals and other events. Solid pick if in the area!

By far the best tasting, reasonably priced, and reliable Thai food on the west side! The first time I had Ayara Thai food was during lunch time, which a friend of mine taught me how to order via the website. I don't believe the restaurant is open to take orders during the day (don't quote me on this) but it is extremely convenient to be able to place the order online with a reliable pick up time. They text you when your order is ready. Bonus points for efficiency! Since we were with the group, the first time, we were able to eat outside on the patio area. Two days later, my husband and I shamelessly returned for takeout, and then returned again a couple of days later, lol. They make the whole process so easy, the portions are generous, the food is delicious, and they are just so darn consistent! Consider us proud regulars now! :)

Ayara Thai is a gem in Westchester. They are tiny and quaint but are consistent in their quality and service. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is absolutely delicious and fresh! There are other Thai places in the area that are cheaper, yes, but don't compare to Ayara's authentic flavors and taste. They have a daily lunch special that I like to take advantage of too when I am craving Thai food. Definitley a must try!

Literally, the best meal I've ever had. I'm not just saying best Thai food ever. The best food I've ever had from a restaurant. Appetizers: When Tigers Cry Tri Tip; cooked to perfection. Crispy Calamari; crispy, bouncing and light. Not Your Mamas Wonton Soup so flavorful. Main course: Fried Branzino (sea bass), cooked to perfection again. Crispy tasty skin but light and fluffy inside. And lastly the best Pad See Ew ive ever had. Pair all that up with a glass of Dragon Stone Riesling wine (as recommended by the wine expert they have! Thanks for that bro!) and finally the BIG Lychee for dessert. The atmosphere was great, clean, not too small where you felt like you were on top of one other but big enough that it felt spacious; cozy. And last but not least, Patty! She was sooooo attentive, pleasant and helpful. She helped us figure out how to properly eat the Branzino and kept us smiling the whole time. Thank you for the amazing evening, we'll be seeing you soon!

Kra-Tiem with vegetables for $22.00! I expected twice as many vegetables.

I usually order the Kra-tiem with Shrimp, but I decided to get it with vegetable instead. The portion was very small. It cost $22 and this is what was delivered! I expected twice as many vegetables for $22.00.

We love Ayara! It's our favorite spot for post airport pick up dinner--plenty of parking in the large lot to the west, and extremely friendly staff. This time they made several recommendations for the special lobster which was incredible and the sauce had a deep and rich spice to it which we absolutely loved. They also features a special lychee cute dessert which had so many fun layers with different flavors. I highly recommend Ayara, it has standard entry level Thai dishes but also a large variety of other items for those looking for exciting recommendations!

The regular menu is quite expensive with the cheapest at $17 for appetizer and salad options and most expensive at a whooping $80. The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I'm not sure how this restaurant can justify the prices with the quality they are serving. Probably won't be back. Service was mediocre. Didn't offer to refill our waters. So I'm determined to come back to tip her because if anybody deserved a tip it was her. I ordered Pad Thai with tofu- I like to order peanut sauce on the side and the woman found it interesting and struck a non judgmental conversion about it. I could really tell she was genuinely curious. This was my favorite dish. It was good. I also ordered spicy fried rice with tofu and spicy panang curry with vegetables. I chose 4 out of a 6 for spicy and it was not spicy at all for me. The rice was fine, nothing extraordinary and nothing bad. The panang curry was yummy. I don't know if it's regional but it was very light in taste and light in thickness. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was. Felt like I had gotten home made chicken soup or something like that comforting and not overly processed. Maybe it's because I ordered it with no protein and just vegetables. I ordered a lot of food so I explained to her that I was going to eat some and take the rest to go. When she brought the food she brought it nicely packed without a bag. She also brought me a real plate and utensils to eat here. She let me know that when I was ready she'd bring a bag which I thought was thoughtful. She also made sure to say "take your time, no need to rush. We close at 8" and it was 5pm. Again, it felt genuinely nurturing, she wanted to make sure I felt taken care of and welcomed. It meant a lot because I was frazzled from forgetting my wallet and from having a hard day at work. This was my first time here and it won't be my last. There is a small lot on site. This place is by far my favorite Thai restaurant and that's why it's so disheartening to write this…read morereview. I have written at least 2 glowing reviews of the restaurant in the past and wish this could be one of them, but it's not. Over the last 4-5 days I have tried no less than 2 dozen times to call the restaurant during proper business hours to order food for pick-up as I often do. The phone rang and rang to no avail. I live too far from the restaurant to just pop up and place an order so I rely on calling ahead. I have been a customer of this restaurant for at least the last 9 years and have almost never had the aforementioned experience. Though I do recall not being able to get a call through several times on one or two occasions in the relatively distant past. Today I was finally able to get a call through and began placing my order which includes shrimp. I ALWAYS request the tail (with shells) to be removed from the shrimp as I find it quite difficult to enjoy my meal if I'm constantly having to pick off shells with my hands. It's unsanitary and messy. Removing the tails from 15-20 shrimp prior to adding to an entree or soup should take no more than 60 seconds and that's if one is moving at a glacial pace. However, today I was told that the kitchen was too busy to honor my request. I assured the lady taking my order than I was a loyal customer and make this request will every order I place and it is always honored. She repeated her claim that the kitchen was too busy and refused to do it. I cancelled my order and ended the call. Now I usually order food from the restaurant 4-5 times a month and usually spend about $65 each time not including tip. That is approximately $325 per month of my hard earned money that I give to this restaurant in exchange for great food and service. I am appalled and quite upset that having been a loyal customer for almost a decade and spending as much money there as I do per month that they could at least honor my patronage by simply taking an additional 60 seconds in the kitchen to make my meal more enjoyable. Her refusal to do such a minuscule task has deeply soured my experience with Hoy-Ka not to mention the fact that I could not reach the restaurant for almost a week by phone for no apparent reason. I will not be going back to this restaurant until they rectify this situation.

Each time I've come the waitstaff has been super friendly, and the food amazing. So, when planning a little birthday lunch for my mom's 81st birthday, this was one of the first places I thought of. My mom lives in south LA and we live in the valley, so after picking her up, we wouldn't have to travel far to eat. Although we planned to arrive to the restaurant at 2, traffic was horrible and we arrived at 230pm. After looking for parking, I dropped the fam off at 2:40 so they could sit and look at the menu while I found parking. I get a text from my husband saying they closed at 3 so hurry. This was news to me, as I thought they closed at 5. I found parking and rushed in at 2:48, to see my family outside the restaurant. Perplexed, I went in to ask if we could still eat, as it wasn't yet 3pm. No wait staff came to the front to greet me, so I walked in a bit and asked the waiter if it was okay to eat. The waiter said we close in ten. I said I thought the website said you closed at 5. I must have read it wrong. I understand, but it's not 3 and we came a bit of a distance and it's my mom's 81st birthday. The waiter, whose name is Jack, offered to ask the kitchen if they would still make food. I said yes please would you ask? While Jack was asking, another waiter asked me if I had been helped. I told him yes, that Jack was asking the kitchen if we could still have lunch. This waiter says, we're closing in 10. I'd like to have lunch too. And walks away. Yes, with shade. Jack returns and says it's fine as long as we can order within a few minutes of getting the menu. I say great and we all come in. The 2nd waiter takes our order with the least amount of personality he possibly can, and the whole lunch is slightly awkward and we're not able to truly enjoy ourselves with the feeling of "we better hurry up and eat" lingering. By the time we ordered and received our food (which was delicious as usual) , there were still 4 other groups of customers there, and we actually left the restaurant within a minute or two after the last customers before us. Also, no one came around to ask how our food was and if we needed anything. I'm giving 3 stars because this experience didn't quite sit right with me. Yes, it was near closing, but your doors weren't closed and there was no sign saying last call/order at 2:45 or anything like that. I feel like once the kitchen approved making our lunch, customer service should have been at its peak for paying customers, who gave no attitude and tried to be as polite with the ask as possible. It was not. I still tipped 25%, because Jack (waiter 1) was polite and my 81 old mama who I was celebrating raised me that way, but I'm not sure I'll patronize them again.

After one meal, this is already one of the best Thai spots I've tried in LA!…read more Came with friends and ordered a bunch of dishes, and every single plate was ridiculously delicious. The Pad Thai was the best I've had outside of Thailand. Extremely well balanced, not too sweet, not too tangy, not drowning in sauce, just perfectly done with great noodle texture and loaded with shrimp. The Pad Kee Mao was so flavorful. Smoky, spicy, full of flavor, and had that proper "wok hei" char that makes noodles addictive. The Pad See Ew was equally rich and savory, and deeply satisfying. We also got the turnip omelette (Kai Jeow with preserved radish) and it blew my mind, honestly. It is so simple, but packed with flavor. Somehow one of the best egg dishes I've ever had. The morning glory with pork was another standout, super fresh, garlicky, and cooked perfectly. Everything came out hot, portions were generous, and the whole table went silent because the food is too good to talk through lol. On top of that, the servers were super nice, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better despite how busy it was :) Packed restaurant, amazing energy, AMAZING food. This place just ruined average Thai food for me. Already thinking about when I'm going back!!!

I really wish I can love this place but it's really disappointing. What once was known as the best…read moreThai food in LA, is no longer the case. We got the raw shrimp salad, spicy catfish and bbq pork over rice. The raw shrimp "salad" is probably the best thing we've ate, but the chili sauce was over powering and couldn't really taste the freshness of the shrimp. And I feel like there could've been saw garlic to go along with it, but nope, just decorative cabbages that is not edible. As for the bbq pork over rice, the sausage was good and the crispy pork too. But the BBQ pork itself was HORRIBLE I literally spit it out. It tasted like old refrigerated dry meat, barely edible. And then the spicy catfish, the portion was so small, it looked like someone ate half of it. The pieces very tiny and it was so dry it tasted like it was refried. The spicy sauce didn't help much. And I overheard the table next to us waited around 30 mins for their dishes. Overall, I'll not be coming back here. There are much better Thai spots than this. Not to mention the parking is horrible as it was valet only on a Saturday.
