We used to love this place and I gave them great reviews, but now they are just awful. I ordered pick up and when we go home are main dish, duck, was not there. We called and they said they would make it and have it delivered right away. Over an hour later, the duck is still not here and the manager, May might be her name as decided she did us a big favor. I could have driven there and back twice but now. Further, the dumplings were not hot and the rice is dry. They have agreed to give us $30 credit for my next visit. They should have just taken it off the bill. They claim they can't and I know for a fact that this is not a hard thing to do. I would love to tell you about the duck, but it is still not here and we are still waiting. The rest of our not great food is ruined. Natalee Thai has been around for decades. I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and we were seated right away. We ordered the pork shoulder and orange chicken with brown rice. Everything was good and fresh. We ordered the bbq beef to go but we're unpleasantly surprised that there was only two pieces of beef. For $28 definitely expected more. The broth it was served with was lightly sweet with a mild peppery note. Accompanying the pork shank was Chinese broccoli and a braised onion. This dish is heart and very satisfying. Came here on a Thursday evening and were seated immediately, it was moderately full around 6PM. Its an interesting building and decor that allows for a lot of natural light given where we were seated. I ordered the pad see ew, which came out pretty quick and was a good size. I ended up eating more than I thought I could, since the noodles were really good and a great chewy consistency! The prices were pretty average as well. We defied on Natalee Thai for dinner last night. This is our favorite Thai restaurant. We got the Siamese shrimp (supposed to be spicy), shrimp pad Thai, and steamed shrimp dumplings. I drive by this place all the time but have never gone in except for this time--when my cousin had her birthday dinner here. Our server was Micah and he was very attentive and accommodating. I ordered the crispy tofu appetizer (9/10) and it had a crispy outside and soft interior. It was a bit too moist inside for me--I think they didn't drain enough liquid out of the tofu before frying. But it was still very good. I also had the fish with the curry sauce and that was so good 10/10! The fish was fried crispy and served hot in a bed of red curry. I've been coming to Natalee Thai for a while now, at least the past couple of decades. I used to live in the area & it was my go-to for Thai food. My favorites are definitely the crab fried rice and the nutty chicken. Both are so flavorful & deeply satisfying. Sadly, they got rid of the crying tiger beef dish they used to have on the menu. I have been coming to this location for years. My most recent visit was the first Sunday of the year on Jan 4th. I parked behind the restaurant which also shares a parking lot with Smart and Final. The restaurant was busy but I waited no time for a table for two. I asked for booth and was happily accommodated. I ordered my favorite dish, the Tom Yum soup with chicken. I was indecisive for my second dish so I simply ordered the Natalie Delight (a variety of appetizers. Lastly, I order a lychee martini for the first time. The Martini was 10/10 as it was right in the middle of sweet and alcoholic. It also came with fresh fruit! The soup in my opinion was not as hot as usual, but still amazing. The second dish had a similar issue as different items were not the same temperature. For example, the chicken sate was cold but I was hungry so didn't mind it. The Natalee Delight comes with Thai shrimp cake (5/10), chicken sate (7/10), Siam spring roll (8/10), and west side wontons (9/10). Service was good and the ambiance was nice -- clean, modern, and comfortable. However, the prices here are very high, even for the area. We started with the Natalie Fresh Rolls, which are their take on Vietnamese spring rolls. Honestly, they were disappointing. For $11.99, you only get two tiny rolls, much smaller than what you'd get at a typical Vietnamese restaurant. They tasted fine -- fresh and light -- but definitely not worth the price. I finished both in about three bites. Would I order them again? Absolutely not. Next up was the Chicken Larb. Oh my god, it was so spicy. The server didn't ask for a spice level, so we were caught off guard. I can usually handle heat pretty well, but this one really pushed it. If you have a low spice tolerance, stay away. The flavor was fresh and herbaceous, but not the best larb I've had -- just okay overall. Lastly, we got the Pad See Ew with fried tofu, and this was definitely the highlight. The tofu was amazing -- super flavorful, perfectly fried, and easily the best I've had in any Thai noodle dish. The noodles were seasoned really well, and I appreciated that they used authentic Chinese broccoli instead of regular broccoli. The only thing missing was that smoky, charred wok flavor I love. Still, this was the best dish of the night. That said, it was also $19, which feels steep for Pad See Ew. Overall, I'd say the food here is hit or miss. Some dishes are solid, but others feel overpriced for what you get. I get that it's Culver City, so prices run higher, but there are plenty of Thai restaurants in L.A. that deliver better value and flavor. First of all this was my first time here as a recommendation of a friend. It started off well with the waitress conversation, she was very friendly but upon ordering my daughter did not get what she ordered but we decided to keep it instead of sending it back. So we just ordered what she wanted and the waitress was holding g the menu but didn't disclose the price. My daughter said it was $17.95 but when we got the bill we were charged $28.95 for a small plate of Kimci and beef and the rice was an extra $2.25. What a rip off it was not good nor was it worth $28.95. When we brought it to her attention she said well I showed you the menu and the price was correct. No offer to adjust considering we got the wrong item in the first place. Another item I got only contained 2 shrimp so I had to pay for 4 more just to get a decent helping. Wow! This place is really overpriced for the helping size and customer service can be a little more accommodating especially on a first visit. I will not recommend this place nor go back myself. May 17, 2025. Another wonderful dine-in experience. My friend and I dined in, and from the time we walked in to the time we left the service was amazing. I ordered my usual, Broccoli and Oyster Sauce with Shrimp, and Spring Rolls. The broccoli and shrimp were cooked to perfection. My only complaint was I did not have enough Oyster Sauce and when I put the broccoli and shrimp over the rice it wasn't as good as I would have liked, but still good. The Spring Rolls were perfect. Larb salad is chopped chicken with red and green onions, cilantro, and roasted rice kernels tossed in our own Thai lime-garlic dressing. Served with baby romaine lettuce leaves. This is awesome. Comes out spicy too. Basically, you put the lettuce and everything into the romaine lettuce. It's basically a protein thai sandwich. The highlight dish of the night. For the main course I ordered the Yellow California Chicken curry spicy. My friend ordered the Tom Ka chicken soup but not spicy. They incorrectly swapped the spice levels; my curry was not spicy, and my friend's soup was very spicy. The Yellow Curry: Not a fan. The cut chicken was super premium and juicy. Some of the most tender chicken, but the broth just wasn't up to par. Also, why only potatoes and carrots? Where's the onions like other yellow curry spots have? No spice whatsoever. Curry base tasted almost like a squash, but it probably wasn't. Super-duper bland though. Definitely not spicy as requested. Had literally no spice. Rice pay separately. The Tom Ka Chicken Soup was amazing! Had a ton of flavor, but my friend requested not-spicy and we get it spicy. The Tom Ka Chicken is: Chicken & mushrooms in a coconut milk lemongrass broth with a thin slice of galangal, ginger, & cilantro. The broth was fantastic. Really. It's like almost a smooth creamy, coconut cocktail with all of these citrus spice flavors in it. I approve. Rice sold separately. I've been coming to this place since a kid and my mother chose it as the venue for Mothers Day dinner since it's been awhile. We got the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Heavenly Mixed Rice, Sweet and Sour Beef, Fried Spare Ribs, and the Siam Spring Rolls. Everything was exquisite in addition to the service and the ambiance of the place. It's never really empty when you frequent it and the building architecture inside and out has always been a vibe. I feel like I've sat in all four corners of the joint, and eating out front is enjoyable. As disclosure this review is two months late. After moving to the West Side a year ago. I was desperate to find good Thai and authentic Chinese restaurants. Someone suggested Natalee Thai on Venice. After researching and noticing that they had a popular Beverly Hills location. I decided to try Natalee's Thai on Venice. The first three visits were amazing with great service and fantastic food. However something has happened at this location;especially the quality of delivery orders. I've received dishes with scorched eggs, a mystery green stuff, shrimp dishes with 3 shrimp, portions that didn't fill the container and sadly a beef dish that smelled so bad the Door Dash Driver commented on the smell and offered to return it. Also when asking for "Thai Hot" was given the little packets to "Do It Myself"??? I get it, most patrons don't really mean hot or authentic but I do! Needless to say, I have not been back to Natalee's Thai on Venice. It's really too bad that the food quality has declined. Will I try Natalee's again??? My new favorite Thai place! I love how there are so many options, even though this made it hard to choose haha. I really enjoyed the sate (beef and chicken). Both were so tender and flavorful and I really enjoyed the peanut sauce it paired with. It also came with pickled cucumbers and onions which were refreshing and paired well with the dish. The Massaman beef curry was so flavorful and the meat was so juicy and tender. The sauce was absolutely perfect and I enjoyed every bite.
