I would give six stars if I could. The new owners offer very friendly service, and they still make my favorite drunken noodles! Great neighborhood spot

At first I was hesitant to try this restaurant due to the B rating by the health department, but because it is very close to where I live I decided to give it a try anyway. I would classify it as a good option although not great. It's very small on the inside, only a couple tables available and they don't have outdoor seating. There isn't a dedicated parking lot although street parking is fairly easy to find in this part of town. Our server was polite, but it took quite some time to get his attention for drink refills and to get the check even though there were only two other tables occupied when we were dining in. Mostly the orders we saw were to-go so it seems like they specialize in to-go orders more than customers dining in. I would say the food is fine, it had some nice flavors, but I've had a lot better recently. For this first visit, we started with the Chicken Satay, which actually was pretty nice although I just had Mr. Chow and those were significantly better. Next came Tom Kha Soup with shrimp and I thought this one was fairly good. It was just as expected and probably the best thing that I tried. For my entrée I chose the Beef Pad See Ew and it had some nice flavors although as mentioned, I've had better versions recently. Everything was pretty greasy and it just didn't taste as fresh as the version I had previously. The meat was a little overcooked and honestly, I think it could've just been done better. Overall a pretty good Thai restaurant that would be a good call if you are in a rush or are in the area. Not the sort of place I would suggest for your birthday, but you could definitely do worse.

I discovered this hidden gem when I needed a place to have lunch. Love the nice open atmosphere very inviting. The service was quick and friendly service. I ordered the coconut seafood soup it came piping hot delicious filled with nice size shrimp and crab . I also got a side of rice. The Thai ice tea was strong and good.

Ordered pad Thai, mushroom soup and egg roll. Egg roll 5 stars; pad Thai ; soup is a little sour but tastes special :).

These three items came to over $70 including delivery. Oh, and for $70 it didn't include any rice.

I want to start by saying that I've been ordering food from Chilli Thai for many years. The food has always been solid. My last order left me a little shocked, however.... Ordered spring rolls, yellow curry and pad Thai for delivery from their website. The total seemed oddly high ($70 including fees and tip), but I didn't think too much about it. When the food came I was shocked at how little food we got for $70 (see photo). Also after having eaten yellow curry from them well over 50 times (over the years) , this was the first time it showed up without any white rice. Really? $70 for some veggie spring rolls, a bowl of curry and a bowl of noodles, and you stopped including rice? Then when I called to ask about it, the young lady that took my call didn't seem to care at all. Very disappointing experience from a long time favorite! Sad to say but after many years, I think we'll be looking for a new Thai food joint :(

I love coming to this place! Not gonna lie my favorite time is lunch time because of their amazing deals! My favorite lunch special location. The Thai ice Tea/ Coffee is so authentic and hi to the spot. It's giving classic tavern with an element of home decor. The service was good the people are nice and Fern is always here and helpful.

    Thai tea yummmmy!

I come here for lunch multiple times a week and I love it! They have lunch hour from 11 am -3 pm with so many good choices! I always get the yellow curry with chicken or the spicy basil chicken! (Which happens to be their specialty!) I'm always served by a sweet lady named Fern and she always helps me with recommendations, even though I always get the same thing lol Definitely worth checking out for some authentic Thai food in the area!

Ordered via Uber eats for a late evening snack. They close at 930pm. Order arrived very promptly and still warm. The Pad Thai was a good portion size. A bit too sweet for my taste. At first bite, the noodles tasted sour but eventually became accustomed. Ordered with shrimp (extra $1.50), had a good amount of shrimps in the order.

The regular menu is quite expensive with the cheapest at $17 for appetizer and salad options and most expensive at a whooping $80. The lunch menu was more affordable but still on the pricey side $21-$32 with add on options. The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I'm not sure how this restaurant can justify the prices with the quality they are serving. Probably won't be back. Service was mediocre. Didn't offer to refill our waters. The rice was piping hot and the mangos were sweet and soft, drizzled with a generous serving of sweet coconut milk. Personally, the rice was a bit too soft for me and the coconut milk was a tad too sweet, but it still scratched the itch I had for mango sticky rice. I went close to closing so the staff could only offer me takeout, which was fine. They were friendly both over the phone and in-person when I picked up my order. I'm only dinging it a point because of its high(er) price point. I would be down to go back again to try out their entrees next time though!

I felt like I came to eat and my mom's house. They take Debit Card and Apple Pay WITH a pin only. I forgot my wallet and paid with Apple Pay. It did not have a place for tip which made me feel awful. At the end I apologized and she was like "it's ok, next time." And she was genuinely fine with it. She reassured me not to worry about it. So I'm determined to come back to tip her because if anybody deserved a tip it was her. I ordered Pad Thai with tofu- I like to order peanut sauce on the side and the woman found it interesting and struck a non judgmental conversion about it. I could really tell she was genuinely curious. This was my favorite dish. It was good. I also ordered spicy fried rice with tofu and spicy panang curry with vegetables. I chose 4 out of a 6 for spicy and it was not spicy at all for me. The rice was fine, nothing extraordinary and nothing bad. The panang curry was yummy. I don't know if it's regional but it was very light in taste and light in thickness. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was. Felt like I had gotten home made chicken soup or something like that comforting and not overly processed. Maybe it's because I ordered it with no protein and just vegetables. I ordered a lot of food so I explained to her that I was going to eat some and take the rest to go. When she brought the food she brought it nicely packed without a bag. She also brought me a real plate and utensils to eat here. She let me know that when I was ready she'd bring a bag which I thought was thoughtful. She also made sure to say "take your time, no need to rush. We close at 8" and it was 5pm. Again, it felt genuinely nurturing, she wanted to make sure I felt taken care of and welcomed. It meant a lot because I was frazzled from forgetting my wallet and from having a hard day at work. This was my first time here and it won't be my last. There is a small lot on site. Prices were very reasonable.

I can't believe it's been 12 years--and I'm so happy to say it was every bit as incredible as I remembered. My friend and I came for lunch. I ordered the vegetable pho, and she had the curry rice. Both dishes were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, comforting, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, I wish we had more time because we had another appointment downtown. I would have loved to try more dishes and definitely dessert! Our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. He checked on us at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. The service was as impressive as the food. The restaurant has such a warm, relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the beautiful ceramic water cups with bird designs--they were so unique and charming. Even the water tasted wonderful! I'm thrilled that Au Lac is still thriving after all these years. If anything, the food tasted even better than I remembered. I certainly won't wait another 12 years before coming back. In fact, I was so impressed that I convinced my husband to come with me next Saturday for dinner! I've tried many vegan restaurants over the years, and Au Lac remains my absolute favorite. My favorite on the Westside is Variable Café, but if you're willing to drive a little farther, Au Lac is on another level. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Whether you're vegan or not, this place is truly outstanding. Five stars without hesitation!
