I've lived a short walk from Chilli Thai for over 30 years and tonight was the first time I dined there. It won't be the last. I saw one of my former students had posted that she and her father had visited and that it was their favorite restaurant. (Her mother is a cookbook author and restaurant owner, so they know food.) We had the Pad Thai with tofu and Salmon Teriyaki with steamed vegetables and a side of brown rice. All yummy and fresh! As I said, it is a short walk from my home and a short walk from the E Line Station at Westwood/Rancho Park. Just walk North on Westwood Blvd. and turn left on Pico. Chilli Thai is half way down the block on the North side of the street. So even if you don't live in the neighborhood, you should still visit! Oh, and order the Thai Iced Tea, they bring a tall glass of the sweet concoction to your table. read more

I went here for lunch with my friend and ordered the BBQ combo with all three types of meat. Beef, chicken, and pork with shrimp fried rice. The beef and chicken were tender, however, the pork ribs were a little tough and dry. I did not like the barbeque sauce. The shrimp fried rice was good. Very fresh food! The steamed veggie rolls were filled with fresh veggies, and the dipping sauce is tasty. The soups are made of healthy ingredients, and filling. The service is accommodating and attentive I asked for unique sauces to accompany my veggie rolls, and was brought a lime sauce that was so good I wanted to drink it all when my food was gone. At first I was hesitant to try this restaurant due to the B rating by the health department, but because it is very close to where I live I decided to give it a try anyway. I would classify it as a good option although not great. It's very small on the inside, only a couple tables available and they don't have outdoor seating. There isn't a dedicated parking lot although street parking is fairly easy to find in this part of town. Our server was polite, but it took quite some time to get his attention for drink refills and to get the check even though there were only two other tables occupied when we were dining in. Mostly the orders we saw were to-go so it seems like they specialize in to-go orders more than customers dining in. I would say the food is fine, it had some nice flavors, but I've had a lot better recently. For this first visit, we started with the Chicken Satay, which actually was pretty nice although I just had Mr. Chow and those were significantly better. Next came Tom Kha Soup with shrimp and I thought this one was fairly good. It was just as expected and probably the best thing that I tried. For my entrée I chose the Beef Pad See Ew and it had some nice flavors although as mentioned, I've had better versions recently. Everything was pretty greasy and it just didn't taste as fresh as the version I had previously. The meat was a little overcooked and honestly, I think it could've just been done better. Overall a pretty good Thai restaurant that would be a good call if you are in a rush or are in the area. Not the sort of place I would suggest for your birthday, but you could definitely do worse. read more

We used to go this restaurant a lot, many, many years ago. There was a mean waitress, but we liked the food, so we kept eating here. We hadn't been in a long time and recently started going again. The food flavors are different from before, so some dishes that we used to love, we don't eat anymore. HOWEVER, there are other dishes that we eat that we like. As with any restaurant, the cook changes over time, so the taste of different dishes tends to change. For me, it's about trying different dishes and finding the ones that I like. The dishes that I like are the pineapple fried rice, the eggplant delight, pepper garlic, garlic fish, and I think the pineapple and shrimp curry. I probably like the pad see-ew too. (We eat at a lot of different Thai restaurants, so I actually mark the menu so I know which items I like at which restaurants. I don't have the menu with me, so I am going by memory.) I have a tendency to eat the same things over and over, so for the most part, those are the dishes I have tried. For dessert, we like the mango sticky rice. YUM. My sister likes the silver noodle (both the salad and the hot noodle dish). I don't remember what else because she and I almost always eat different things. haha We always do takeout, so I don't know about service, but I can tell you that the staff that are there now are MUCH nicer than the lady that used to work there years ago. I gave it 4 stars just because sometimes the dishes are a bit inconsistent in taste, but most of the time, they taste good. : ) read more

I want to start by saying that I've been ordering food from Chilli Thai for many years. The food has always been solid. My last order left me a little shocked, however.... Ordered spring rolls, yellow curry and pad Thai for delivery from their website. The total seemed oddly high ($70 including fees and tip), but I didn't think too much about it. When the food came I was shocked at how little food we got for $70 (see photo). Also after having eaten yellow curry from them well over 50 times (over the years) , this was the first time it showed up without any white rice. Really? $70 for some veggie spring rolls, a bowl of curry and a bowl of noodles, and you stopped including rice? Then when I called to ask about it, the young lady that took my call didn't seem to care at all. Very disappointing experience from a long time favorite! Sad to say but after many years, I think we'll be looking for a new Thai food joint :( read more

This has been our go to spot for Thai food for years, but something has changed recently. The recipes are all different. We used to love the red veggie curry- it was so spicy and lots of different veggies, but this time it was lots of green beans and cabbage in coconut milk with practically no flavor. Surprised that place only has a three star rating. We can on a Sunday afternoon and we were the only party in the entire rerstaurant. We had came because we saw here on Yelp that they had Stuffed Angel Wings, but sadly when we arrived and tried to order it, the lady said they were out of it. :( I had the Spicy Noodle (known as Drunken Noodle) and it came out fresh and delicious! I ended up eating the entire plate, it was that good! Freshly prepared noodles with chicken tossed together with spices and sauce to add that heat, delicious! Nothing to Thai for, but nothing overly unappe-Thai-zing either. We toddled in on a cold evening after a chilly ride on the bike looking for some warmth and nourishment. First things first, we ordered hot jasmine tea. Unfortunately, the tea didn't arrive until we were halfway through our meal. I loved my garlic pepper chicken, the flavor was succulent and well seasoned. My boyfriend struggled with his bland cashew chicken and the small portion of protein in comparison to mine. Both of us agreed the egg roll was mushy on the inside and lacked any structure of veggie crunch, though the outside had a flakey texture to be admired. I've been coming to Chilli Thai for YEARS! It's one of my favorite Thai spots in West LA. I always try to put people on when they ask for Thai food recommendations. I love the cozy mom n pop feel. I mean look at the heart shaped rice! Precious! I don't come frequently and It's never really busy when I do come in so im always a little nervous that it won't be open anymore. But to my surprise it was just bought out by a lovely young couple whom I met today! I expressed how much I love coming here whenever im in the area and how I hoped they wouldn't be changing much. Which the gentleman assured me that they wouldn't be lol I usually order their Pad See Ew but I decided to try something new today, the spicy noodles also known as drunken noodles or Pad Kee Mao. It was SO good! It was packed with veggies (my fave) and a good amount of chicken too. So glad I decided to stop by today! 10/10 would recommend!! The owners were so nice and they gave us a generous portions of wine so I rounded up their 3.5 to 4. I'm easy to please what can I say. 3.5 stars was because the place was freezing with the fan blasting to air out the covid and that the Panang curry was a bit watered down. Visit this place with coworkers for lunch. Someone in the office recommend it with highest regards... so we went. Think he hyped it a bit much for what it actually is, just ok really. While I did not have a chance to take pictures of the appetizers since it was quickly dove into, the crispy crab ragoon and chicken dumplings wasn't much to remember other than being palatable. I had a chance to try their chicken curry and it was quite sweet. This derived from adding too much coconut milk. It borderline dessert index. We retired that quickly at home. Spicy noodle was actually decent. Had good kick, portion is generous, and beef was delicious. My only flag was the noodle was a bit wet to where it broke a bit easy. Had the noodle retained chewier texture, this noodle would be one to contend with. This dish had great potential. If I'm not mistaken, this is considered to be Pad Kee Mao at other establishments. I didn't see it on the menu and it came pretty close aside from the onslaught of peppers. Overall, I wouldn't mind visiting again and trying something else. However, seems like consistency is an underlining issue that can tip the scale in either or direction. I hope they examine the aspects of these dishes a bit more. We have been coming here for years, through a couple major changes in their restaurant. It has ranged from good to great. Well last night we meandered in after a few months away, and OH MY GOD! It was amazing. We got Green Curry Chicken, Tom Yum with Chicken, and tried their Pho (new item). Everything tasted amazing, especially the curry. It is literally the best curry we have ever tasted. To finish off, we got their coconut ice cream and what a wonderful treat that was. It was airy and had strips of coconut in it. They have a loyal following, so you can expect to have a wait during prime time, but it is worth whatever wait you may encounter. The new owners and staff are nice from their very core.
