Hands down the best Persian restaurant I've ever been to. I had the pleasure of eating during one of their world cup watch parties and the atmosphere was amazing. I met some great people and the staff made me feel very welcomed - I'm looking forward to returning soon! Btw I highly recommend the salmon kebab

We ordered the sour cherry limeade, sooo refreshing! Barbari flatbread fresh and warm Eggplant gheimeh , the eggplant was roasted to perfection served with rice soo incredibly flavorful. Manama fried potatoes service with lemon wedge and a dip - you have to eat it all together well paired, potatoes had the perfect softness and crisp. Mirsa ghasemi - roasted eggplant Mix this with the smashed green olives on your babari flat and yes! The tomato Persian cucumber salad was also refreshing, wth great flavors and crunch. This place has been pretty constant of patrons dining. Seems like a real popular place. The employees are friendly The place is clean which makes it easier to dine in.

Since it was my first time here I asked the person working at the front ( you have to order up front where they then give you a number) some questions regarding the menu. They were supper attentive and friendly. After I ordered I sat outside to people watch which was honestly really nice. Reminded me of Paris. My food came promptly thus after. The Tumeric braised chicken is amaaazzzinggg the chicken is so juicy and falls off the bone. The rice has some sort of crunchiness to it that compliments the entire flavor profile of the dish. The eggplant dip reminded me of the one my grandmother makes, dipped with the chicken made my meal feel really nostalgic. I've been back four times since and never regret it. One of those meals that just makes you feel really good after!

Recently, we were curious if our old go-to, Javan, was still any good. So, my wife and I dined there. The beef and chicken koobideh entrees were both excellent- so tender and juicy. This weekend, we have some friends visiting from San Francisco. As SF is a fantastic food town in its own right, we suggested two different food options that are better in L.A. than what you'll find up there: Korean BBQ or Persian food. The wife pushed a return to Javan. Alex, the manager, recommended the All Javan Combo for our party of 5. It includes tzatziki, hummus, salad, and flatbread to start followed by beef and chicken koobideh, chicken kabob, filet, lamb, and choice of rice. We added an eggplant stew with lamb shank and an extra skewer of chicken koobideh. Finished the meal off with hot tea, a sublimely-delicious saffron ice cream (house-made by Alex himself), baklava, and little bites that were like honey churro nubs. After we finished this feast of a meal, my daughter looked up at me and said, "This was one of the best Persian meals I've ever had." I must agree. This was a meal greater than the sum of its parts- food was very, very good and the experience was elevated by the warmth of Alex and his staff. It's rare that a restaurant works this hard to make its guests feel welcome. Free street parking and a full-bar (Alex is happy to whip-up a special cocktail for you). I give Javan my highest recommendation. Please eat here if you're in the mood for Persian food. Bon Appétit!

It is better than their beef koobideh and barg, though those are still good. I have had better beef koobideh at other restaurants like Raffis or Shekarchi. Their bread is so fresh and is an elevated experience compared to the usual lavash bread that restaurants give. My friends had the salmon and they really liked it. The maast o khiar is really good too. The service is excellent - all the food came out quickly and the servers were nice. I will say I am Persian (and look very obviously so) and for some reason one lady only looked at/spoke to my husband and not me. I would say it's 4.5 stars because I was put off by this. Parking is tough right next to the restaurant but can be found metered down the street if you don't want to valet. We ended up ordering 1 combination appetizer and the dolmeh was good. Usually I may not like the flavor at some places, but this one I was able to eat. We ordered Juicy chicken (2), koobideh Kabob, Naderi kabob(2) and boneless lamb (2). They were able to plate them family style for sharing and so we got the mixed rice so we can try one od each type. They were nice enough to give a little extra rice to make the presentation of the plate look full. We were able to get 3 salads to get served family style as well. The sadaf salad came in the biggest plate to share, the beet and shirazi salad came in smaller portions. The chicken was big and juicy! All the meats we ordered tasted good... soft and tender. I really enjoyed the beet salad as it also had some sweetness to it. The mixed rice variety allowed us to try all the choices: Albaloo had sour cherries in it, Zareshk had barberries (was my husband's favorite), baghali has lima beans and dill, Asas has lentils raisins and dates making it a sweeter rice dish. They could have provided more bread for our appetizer platter and since we had more people but if you ask for more they will bring more. Everyone enjoyed the food. We did have a lot of leftovers so it would have been nice for our server to let us know to order a little less. We probably could have gotten away with a couple orders less. Also would be nice if they have some kind of chili or hot sauce or peppers for those that like a little more spice to their meal. It wasnt too busy when we went (but it was a weekday) so our party felt like everything turned out well food-wise and service was attentive, just a tad on the pricier side (Juicy chicken is $28 for 5 pieces and rice, and lamb and Naderi were $40 &$39).

Wow was this place incredible!!!!…read more I got the homemade yogurt drink, roasted eggplant dip, lamb kabob, and beef koobideh. The yogurt drink was savory, which I had never tried before but instantly fell in love with! It was nice and creamy and cold. When I asked the serve for a second one for my friend they were so friendly and accommodating. The dip. Oh. My. God. When I come back here I will just be getting every dip and eating it alongside the thin piece of bread. The roasted eggplant dip is warm, topped with yogurt, fried mint, and caramelized onion. Heaven in my mouth. The creaminess of the dip, the tang of the yogurt, the crunch of the mint, the sweetness of the onions. I could have ordered three right then and there. The lamb was delicious and juicy. It was a little bit on the salty side but I didn't mind at all, and definitely did not notice with a mouthful of steamy rice and roasted tomato. The beef was also juicy and had a hint of alluring spices in each bite. The roasted vegetables were simple, which is exactly what the meat needs. We were the only other group there beside one other. It was pretty empty for a Friday at 630 pm, so there were many tables to sit at. It's a somewhat small restaurant, but the food gives it big personality! Definitely reccomend!

All the meat whether chicken, salmon or beef comes out perfectly juicy and flavorful. Just wish things weren't so expensive. They do add an extra $3 for salad, which isn't preposterous but not worth it in my opinion. Also they certainly do pile on the rice inside!! Yummmm. And I'll gladly eat their roasted tomatoes anytime. This restaurant was quiet and I gladly filled a cup of ice water by the entrance, plopped on a bench and waited less than 15 minutes for 2 plates. The cashier even brought it over to me rather than calling out; a small but meaningful impact of service. This is a new review on an old favorite of mine. Glad to reunite again Taste of Tehran!
