Shish Kabob Combo
Vanessa V.

Second time here and came with my family. Beef lover plate was the best of the best. I never ate lamb and it was the bomb! Highly recommend this plate. Enjoy!

Options they offer but close seating area here

Edit: HEALTH SCORE is C... I didn't know that before coming. Definitely not coming back!!!!! I was really looking forward to Sofeh because Persian food is one of my favorites and since we were already in Monterey Park it was an easy drive to their Los Angeles location. The reviews were strong so I went in with high hopes. Parking was the first headache because it's extremely limited around the area and we ended up walking from a few houses away after circling for a while. When we arrived, we realized it's all outdoor seating with no indoor option and on a warm sunny day that definitely made things uncomfortable. We approached the lady at the window to figure out how to order since there were no clear signs and the setup was a bit confusing. She wasn't outright rude but she wasn't friendly either, and that lack of warmth made the first impression feel cold. We ordered the lamb chops, chicken, and beef mix plate which came out to around sixty dollars for two people. The food took about twenty minutes to come out and you could tell it was freshly grilled by the smell, which I appreciated. When the food arrived it looked great and the portions were fair. The lamb chops were juicy and flavorful, the chicken was tender, and the beef was average. The rice had good texture and the salad was fine, but the sauces were laughably tiny, barely enough for a few bites. Unfortunately the biggest issue wasn't the food but the bugs. There were flies and bees constantly landing on the table and buzzing around our plates which made it impossible to relax. We tried to enjoy our meal but spent most of the time swatting them away. The fans they had running helped a little but not enough to make a difference. Another major disappointment was the lack of a restroom. For a restaurant serving food that you eat with your hands, that's a serious problem. They had hand sanitizer available but it's not the same as being able to wash your hands properly. Overall I would give Sofeh three out of five stars. The food itself was tasty, especially the lamb chops, but the overall dining experience fell short. Between the bugs, lack of shade, confusing ordering system, and no restroom, it's not somewhere I'd dine in again. It's better suited for takeout because while the food has potential, the atmosphere just doesn't make it worth sitting down for.

Ordered the lamb chop + chicken lule combo, some fries. Fries were delicious, but the lamb + chicken were rather dry, which was the main course of the meal. Portions are very generous. We definitely over ordered. Overall, a nice decently cheap meal. Good to stop by if it's convenient and you're hungry, but not worth a trek. Theres no indoor dining, but the patio area is pretty nice.

This is a small place with a very cute outdoor seating. There's not much shade from the sun though so bring your sunglasses or a hat. I got a plate of food. The chicken was flavorful but a bit dry. I'm not sure what the other meat was as it tasted funny. I really liked the salad though.

Gyros Plate

Food is amazing. Heard about it through friends from Gas Co. we were not disappointed. BUT NO RESTROOMS! And it's dine in. We came in from Beverly Hills. The ride was long we needed the restroom. FOOD IS GREAT!

Celebrated my boyfriend's work anniversary here! It's a bit pricey (and their hummus portions are very small) but the portions make up for it. Everything's always fresh, service is quick and attentive. There's and indoor outdoor side patio with lots of seating. Parking can be a challenge to find sometimes. Overall a great spot to fill all your Mediterranean cravings!!

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for so long but just haven't had the opportunity so this past weekend I was in the area and decided to go. The restaurant is really cute with outdoor seating patio. Staff at the order counter were nice. The price point is a little higher than other similar cuisine establishments. I ordered the chicken kabob plate. The chicken was soo moist and flavorful!! The rice is ok, not very flavorful. The portions were great. I also ordered the lentil soup. The lentil soup needs more lentils, it was mostly liquid. I would definitely try this spot again and try something else on the menu.

Best vibe at this spot with delicious food. I go to a lot of Mediterranean cuisine places all around LA and this is my favorite.

Lamb Chops (4pcs)

This was the best lamb chop I've ever had. The rice was also good, and the salad was very fresh, making it a very satisfying meal.

It was so nice and breezy sitting outside!

This is a hidden gem in East LA for sure! The parking was a little bit difficult, but we managed to figure it out. There's no indoor seating, but the outdoor seating was very nice and breezy.! The music was giving vibes! All the flavoring was really good though. I was a little disappointed because they didn't have Sherzii salad. But it's ok. The food wasn't hot but maybe because it was a little breezy outside. But I'll totally be back.! The service was very kind and friendly.

SHAWARMA SALAD

Good food. Many healthy choices. The place is an order and pick up type of eatery. It's not a restaurant with waitstaff. It does have a nice sitting space. The ambiance is nice but a little noisy due to being right in front of the metro line tracks. The portions are also very good! I recommend the shawarma salad. We will return for take out soon

Beef kabob plate / Chicken Breast kabob plate
Dave Z.

If you haven't tried this please, you must try it! The food flavor is the star of this review. The chicken kabob (chicken breast) was juicy, the beef kabob was packed with flavor and tender. Side salad was nice as well. Order at the window, find your seats and the server brings out your food. Outdoor seating was well decorated and felt nice. We will be back for more soon!

Gyros Wrap

We had a great experience at Sofreh. Even though they only had outdoor seating when we visited, the food totally made up for it -- so worth it! I ordered the shish kabob mix with chicken and steak, and both were cooked perfectly -- juicy, flavorful, and seasoned just right. The rice was fluffy, and the grilled vegetables added a nice touch. My husband got a gyro, and he loved it -- the meat was tender and well-spiced, and the tzatziki sauce was fresh and creamy. You can tell everything is made with care and high-quality ingredients. We left full and happy. Can't wait to go back!

I'm so happy we tried this place - it's Westwood quality without having to drive all the way there. We tried their perfectly made kashkebaddmjoon, combo of chicken and beef shish kebab and chicken koobideh for my son. The food was chef's kiss. We parked in the front meter parking but there's valet available. The service was friendly - our waiter was a younger gentleman. The vibe is like a mixture of casual + fancy. I visited with my family to celebrate my birthday on a Tuesday evening, and we were seated promptly, with no wait time. Friendly people, cute little space, but it was the bursting flavors that really made this celebratory dinner unforgettable. We got the beef & lamb koobideh, chicken shish kabobs, and shrimp kabobs. My jaw was already on the floor when I saw the portions--but oh my goodness, everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The shrimp were so plump that even my picky choosy mom thoroughly enjoyed them! I actually get kabob cravings quite regularly. And to think all this time, I've been ordering underwhelming deliveries from the mid places when TehranRo Grill is just a short 10-minute drive from home? Damn. I've been missing out. I'll most certainly be returning and trying all of the different options. Can't wait.

We had the beef soltani, lamb shank, and specialty chicken, and they did not disappoint, full of flavor and spice that I've come to love in Persian Cuisine. The variety of rice mixes are a cut above and drew praise from 4 of our party who have never had Persian food before. But the highlight of our time was our server, Maral! She was bursting with energy, an easy laugh, and a really welcoming tone than made me feel welcomed as an old friend-- not the polite tone of a total stranger. Her joviality, kindness, and wit-- combined with the intimate ambiance of the dining room-- haa cemented Toranj as my go-to for Persian food. Not only great food, but great people.

Honestly, I didn't even want to write this review, but after spending a couple of hours thinking…read moreabout it, I felt like I had to. To those writing all the good reviews, I genuinely have one question: have you actually had good Persian food before? Have you ever been to Raffi's? We drove all the way from Orange County because someone recommended this place. We usually just go to Raffi's, but I thought, "let's give this place a shot." Unfortunately, that was a mistake. First, I want to be clear: the staff were great, friendly and attentive. This review has nothing to do with them. It's strictly about the food. 3 Stew Tahdig ($17): The tahdig was extremely thick and hard. Even with the stew on top, it was basically inedible. Mast-o-Moosir (Shallot Yogurt): Served in a very small portion and was extremely watery. You could clearly taste raw shallots instead of a smooth blend. This dish should be made with thick yogurt (mast-e chekideh), not something runny. Main Courses: * Soltani ($39) * Naderi Soltani ($42) Honestly, we couldn't even tell the difference between the two, they seemed identical. We asked for well-done, but everything came medium or even undercooked. The barg kebab (filet mignon) was the worst part, it was tough, rubbery, and almost impossible to cut. It genuinely felt like chewing plastic. Not sure what kind of meat was used, but it definitely wasn't good quality. Salad Issue: The server asked which salad we wanted and mentioned Shirazi, Greek, etc. I chose Greek. When the bill came, we were charged an extra $2 for it, which was never mentioned. That should have been clearly communicated. Also, the bowl the salad was served in was chipped and broken in multiple spots--not a great presentation at all. Rice: The rice was poorly cooked and had barely any saffron (maybe 5% at most). Even another table nearby complained about the rice. Drink - Sekanjebin ($10): This is supposed to be a traditional Persian drink, but this tasted like a mix of cheap syrup. It did not resemble authentic sekanjebin at all. Appetizer - Marinated Olives (Zeytoon Parvardeh): The olives were unusually large and overpowering. This dish should be balanced, you're supposed to taste the walnut, pomegranate, and herbs, not just big olives. At this point, it made sense why the restaurant was almost empty on a Sunday lunchtime, maybe 4-5 tables total. To be completely honest, the food upset our stomachs to the point where we had to take Pepto-Bismol afterward. Overall, the food quality was very disappointing, and we will not be coming back. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic or well-made Persian food. Again, no issues with the staff, they were great. The problem is entirely with the food.

Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. My family and I went here one afternoon and as we sat down, the attendant from the restaurant told us that the specific table we were sitting on wasn't part of the restaurant and we were not going to be served if we sat there in a very rude tone. We went ahead and moved. Then we went up to the cashier to order our food and the two people that were there were busy talking to each other in farsi about a customer that just came and didn't tip along with some very vulgar language. Then as we were ordering, we told them it was our first time and we got no smile or anything, very still faces like whatever. We ordered two Koobideh wraps and a few other things. It was very uncomfortable. The Cashier didn't even speak to us. As we sat down we were "served" after we HAD to ask if we get bread and onions and water because we saw that they were taking those things to other tables. The Koobideh wrap tasted like Rubber and you could barely hold it together as it was drenched with the sauce and all soggy. Even my 1 year old wouldn't eat it. We had to open up the sandwiches and eat them with a fork. It was not a good experience. Tip for the owner: You should probably remind your employees that some of your customers are Persian and they will understand them talking shit.
