I've dined here before (during the pandemic) and had a charming experience that felt reminiscent of Milan. Unfortunately, this most recent visit was the complete opposite. From the beginning, service was inattentive and disorganized. Our waiter did not introduce himself, offer suggestions, or ask if we had dined there before. I ordered a drink upon being seated -- it never arrived. Ten minutes later, we were asked if we were ready to order, still with no beverage. Another ten minutes passed before the waiter realized the drink had never been delivered. The pacing throughout the evening was poor. It took roughly 40 minutes for our food to arrive. For nearly the first hour, we received nothing -- no bread, no appetizers, no entrees. The calamari/shrimp appetizer was good. The lobster pasta was solid. The branzino was slightly overcooked, but acceptable. The larger issue was the atmosphere and how the staff handled closing. Nearly an hour before their 10 PM close, the restaurant began shutting down in a way that felt abrupt and unrefined. House lights were turned on while guests were still dining -- which completely disrupted the ambiance. This was done only in the indoor seating area while they continued seating guests on the back patio. It created an uncomfortable environment where diners were clearly being rushed out despite still eating. The table next to us voiced frustration as well. Gratuity was automatically included (understandable for Valentine's Day), but the level of service did not reflect that standard. If anything, the culture felt snarky and disengaged -- not from management, but from staff who are not in positions of leadership. The patio spaces are attractive, especially the back patio, though wind can cause debris to blow into food. This is not a total loss of a restaurant -- the food has potential and the space is strong. However, hospitality is about culture and intention, not just cuisine. On this visit, that element was noticeably absent. I hope this was an off night rather than a shift in standards. read more

Excellent service by Simone. High complement to the chef for making my Filet Minion order delivered steaming hot to the table. And the breaded chicken was absolutely perfect with the Italian salad. Great food, friendly and beautiful ambiance and lighting. The hostess and the guy who is the host and took us to the courtyard to be seated need a major customer service class and course to learn how to welcome the guests though Simone suggested the wine which was fantastic and the lady manager brought a rose flower to our table. Oh, and i suggest you leave enough room to eat after lunch or dinner for the chocolate lava cake and Italian coffee! The chocolate lave cake is to die for. Have you ever eaten food so good that you forgot to take pictures? Café Amici delivers food to the table that is so fantastic that you take a bite with gratitude and simply savor. This special locale is nestled in the side of a hotel and is not to be missed. It is only very edge of Beverly Hills, but does not feel like it. This is a perfect spot to start the evening before heading into WeHo. I recommend the cacio e Pepe the mushroom risotto and definitely the chicken piccata. Ambiance is great, service was great, but the food.... I don't know what happened. The last couple times I've gone the food was not that good. First of all they don't serve their delicious bread anymore and if you order bread, you get toasted white bread. My friend ordered fish and the whole table smelled like fish. Another words very fishy. The portions were 1/2 to 2/3 of what they used to be. Nothing was the same. So sad. It was one my favorites! read more

I have gone to Cafe Amici in Beverly Hills, on the corner of Doheny and Santa Monica for decades and enjoyed the ambiance, the delicious food and fantastic professional and courteous service. In the last TWO times, I have been shocked and actually insulted by the way Elena, who seems to me to be the manager. She is absolutely rude, impolite, harsh and most adamantly hostile. It is so sad to see such a beautiful and exquisite restaurant to go down the drain by the utter rudeness of a person who is managing this establishment and truly stains the beautiful silk of its reputation. I hope the owner of this restaurant would call me so I could tell him more details of Elena's severe shortcomings in details and documented means. My name is very obvious and transparent here. I would like to further add and emphasize how fantastic and truly a rare server Simone is. This gentleman shines kindness, courtesy, dedication to truly make the experience of dining at Amici a magnificent one. The contrast between the two is truly mind boggling. I can't believe this little gem has been here for so many years and I have never been. Such a quaint place with great outdoor seating. They have valet parking which is way more reasonable than most at $10. They have gluten-free options. The pizza gluten-free was great. The pasta gluten free was not so great. Probably not where I would get a steak again as some of our party got very average steaks. But the calamari was excellent salmon, excellent lamb chops...definitely worth a visit. I love a hotel restaurant, as you know. Cafe Amici, though a proper hotel restaurant in its own right, is also a secret neighborhood go-to. Familiar, consistent, delicious, reliable. My group had a nice time here. We were going to see a band at the Troubadour, and this was the perfect walking distance away. Do yourself a favor, valet, parking in this area can be a total pain. I thought the food was decent/good. This is a hidden restaurant in Beverly Hills, but really in the Weho nightlife district. You have to cross Doheny, and it's on the first floor of the Beverly Terrace hotel. It's a small/charming restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating areas. The outdoor front patio area is cute, but my group sat in the outside atrium area contained in the middle. My group shared bites, and everything was very good. I don't have any specific food call outs, they delivered on all fronts. I did really like my Risotto Funghi. It's a nice little establishment that isn't overcrowded. The server was nice and attentive. Did I mention that they do make a great dirty martin with blue cheese olives. #SOLD. read more

We were the first customers to arrive on a Thursday night because we were seeing a show at the Troubadour. The patio is full of white sparkling lights for the holidays and inside there is a beautiful fireplace. To warm the room. Our server was very professional and helped us to select our meals. I had the chopped Niçoise salad. I loved the chopped salad part but the big chunks of tuna were a bit bland and the visual was reminiscent of canned tuna, although I'm sure it was fresh. It would have been a 10 if it was served with a seared Ahi or at least grill the tuna for a better visual. My husband had the chicken Picata which was the highlight. Perfectly thin chicken in a lemony butter sauce with just the right amount of plump capers. This is served with mashed potatoes. Delicious! We will return to try out of few more items on the menu on of these days. read more

Such a cute place for a date night or lunch spot. I've been here twice and I love how clean and wholesome their food is. The quality is worth the price and portions are very generous. The ambience in the courtyard was probably my favorite part. It was quiet with good music and a good sound level. The staff was probably my next favorite part, very kind, funny and polite. I will be back when my dad is in town. Otherwise, I like the carciofi salad most. I think the truffle pizza and the truffle gnocchi were decent, but not outstanding and not worth the price tag. There's no red sauce on the pizza FYI. The tap water I think is unfiltered so I would recommend the bottles water. The chocolate cake with vanilla gelato was also decent but not amazing. Overall just underwhelming. Seemed understaffed which led to long wait for service. Had to ask about focaccia bread we ordered twice which came at the end of the meal. It had what I think was a cold hummus dip with no flavor. Or could have been creamed corn..... Chicken picatta was flattest I have ever seen and pretty sure mashed potatoes were from a box. So much to love - plus a couple things to not. Overall, it was wonderful to revisit this out-in-broad-daylight hidden gem. Tucked inside the Beverly Terrace Hotel, Café Amici is a laidback, sophisticated place that built to please. The music was a hip soundtrack of smoky jazz versions of Christmas classics. The fireplace radiates enough warmth to compensate for the open door, airy environment. It's perfectly matched to keep Covid at bay. Our server was available and mostly helpful, though it seemed occasionally there were a few language-based miscues. Service was generally great (water refreshed often). The amuse of the white bean spread with their focaccia-like bread is a dreamy starter. We then ordered a Caesar salad (adding chicken for $8). The perfect amount of dressing on fresh, crisp romaine was much-appreciated. The pastas were spectacular: Gnocchi Tartufo melts in the mouth. Imagine soft clouds of potato pasta coming down to earth with each forkful. Also, the Penne Norcina is also delicious: sausage and mushroom enveloped by a creamy sauce. So good. Lastly, a special of the night, Veal Scallopine was actually a disappointment. Chewy and a bit tough, it was not easy to enjoy. I requested a steak knife to get through it. Granted, maybe a steak knife would have been appropriate to bring in any event. However, with this dish, it was mandatory. The porcini mushrooms go a long way to smoothing things out. However, I should have sent it back as it was overcooked. At these prices, it should have been a knockout. On the matter of price, yes, some of the dishes get a bit spendy. Just know that going in. Lastly, ending a more positive note, we loved dessert. The chocolate gelato is the perfect balance of slightly dark chocolate. Very refreshing. The kitchen heard we ordered the cheesecake, and brought that out. It looked gorgeous, but we told them that we ordered something else. The Torta Nonna IS something else - and so good, we came thisclose to ordering a second one ! We were plenty satisfied, though. A great dreamy concoction of flaky dough and eggy custard and something magical. Originally, we were very interested to try the California Gelato Cake and didn't know it was N/A til we tried to order it. Loved Café Amici for the most part. Didn't love the veal, and didn't love the upsell attempt on the wine (the by-the-glass wines is not all that impressive to be honest). Also, the suggested Tip Guide on the bill includes Sub Total and Tax. Asking to tip on the tax is just not cool. I would definitely come back. This restaurant should be shut down immediately until they learn how to run a kitchen and serve paying customers with even a shred of competence. Our Valentine's Day dinner was, without exaggeration, the worst dining experience of my life. From start to finish, it was an absolute disaster--a masterclass in exactly how NOT to run a restaurant. 1. We arrived to find the valet full, which is understandable on a busy night. But when we asked the parking attendant where to park, he literally shrugged and looked away like we were an inconvenience. A competent staff member would've at least suggested parking options nearby. 2. Once seated, we realized our table had no forks. We asked multiple times, and they weren't given to us until AFTER our food arrived. Unacceptable. 3. It took 20 minutes for a waiter to even acknowledge we existed. In that time, not a single person brought water, checked in, or explained the reason for the wait. 4. When the waiter finally showed up, we ordered two cocktails, water, bread, two appetizers, and two pasta dishes. Simple, right? Wrong. 5. The waiter then vanished into the abyss. We flagged down two other staff members just to get some water. One said they'd bring it and never returned. The other finally showed up 45 minutes later with a tiny bottle of water for two people. FYI - Still no forks. 6. At the 50-minute mark, our waiter resurfaced to vaguely assure us our food would arrive "soon"--without a single apology for the ridiculous wait. We asked about our cocktails, and he said, "Yes, those too." 7. Ten minutes later, he had the audacity to come back and ask what our drink order was again. 8. Our first bites of food didn't hit the table until 1.5 HOURS into the meal. The burrata appetizer was flavorless--the tomatoes tasted like water and one of the slices was a bit frozen in the middle. We asked once again for forks and they were finally brought to us. 9. Another 30 minutes passed before the entrees showed up. At this point, I had to go to the bar myself and order a drink because I'd lost faith in our waiter's ability to function. 10. When the mains arrived TWO HOURS into the meal, the cacio e pepe was bland, and the seafood in the frutti di mare was dry and overcooked. 11. And the bread? That arrived AFTER the entrees. Cold. Stale. Pointless. We jokingly wondered if they had been baking it this whole time--clearly not. 12. The final insult: After all of this, we had to hunt down a staff member just to close out, because our waiter was once again missing in action. The restaurant then had the unmitigated gall to try and charge us the full amount with an automatic 20% gratuity and we had to ask for money off and were initially offered $40 off - not enough to even cover the drinks we ordered twice. Not a single staff member apologized or even acknowledged the disaster they put us through. Other patrons in the dining room looked frustrated. The table next to us asked for water 4 times. Others were trying to close out and were waiting for 30+ minutes for the check and another 20 for someone to charge their cards. Save your time and your money (and keep your stress levels lower) by going literally anywhere else. read more

Very mid. It is cute but boring cute. They are located in the side of a small hotel on Santa Monica Blvd side (not Doheny as the address states) and we had the hardest time finding them. The food itself is very...nothing special at all. Totally overpriced food. There were barely any people on Monday night and while at least we can talk and hear each other well, it was a bit sad because the vibe was missing. They did have cute minimal deco for holidays. There are certainly much better fancier vibier places to drop $350 on a dinner in Beverly Hills. Not sure how people even find this place it is so isolated. read more

My go to is the lasagna, it's made the exact same way and if you want to order this to go like i do and have it at home, you can! This restaurant is very nice and has a home feeling. PATRONS BEWARE: Don't be seated in the hotel courtyard! You'll get bitten alive by the bug-infested environment, won't be able to enjoy your meal, and will be uncomfortably itching your body for days afterwards. We were told it's because of the pool located underneath the deck. Of course they should either do whatever it takes to remedy the pool situation or simply don't offer seating there. Totally ridiculous to be seating diners in a bug-infested environment that they're fully aware of. I'd love to give a huge shout out to Cafe Amici because for multiple years now they have donated their outdoor space, their food and their servers to help with a fundraiser for a local non profit "Stop Poaching Now!" Any local business who donates to a cause like this has my vote. They have a lovely little patio in front hidden behind plants and giving your party some privacy. After walking through the inside you come out to an indoor courtyard where they allowed SPN to hold their event. Please note this review is for food served during a party. Servers brought around mini pizza slices, caprese on a stick, and both marinara and pesto pasta. There was more, but this is what I got my hands on. Last night I experienced the worst (nearly racial discrimination) experience when I arrived at this restaurant. When my Toyota Highlander pulled behind my friends' Lexus, the valet directed me to the side of the "driveway". I moved to an area slightly by the wall, waiting for the valet. My 20-year-old son got out of the car to wait. Another car pulled up, the valet took care of them. I didn't think much. Another car pulled up, the valet took care of them. I was perplexed. The valet did not show any sign of coming to my car, so I drove off. Later my son told me that when he was waiting for me the valet asked whether he was being dropped off. He replied that he was with me. It dawned on me that, seeing my Highlander, the valet probably mistook me as a Uber driver! After parking my car in the street, I called my son and learned that he had been seated with our friends inside. I walked into the restaurant. The maître d'hôtel did not greet me. She said, "yes?" instead, letting me feel that I didn't belong there. I told her my friends were inside. She coldly asked, "Name?" Once I gave her the name, she let me in. If I were with my white husband, would these incidents have happened? I wonder. The food was superb and our waitress was very attending. Yet, I would not go there again on my own. read more

We gave this place a shot in NYE, and it was nothing impressive. The food was ordinary yet overpriced (way overprice!). I've had much much better pastas and chicken and steak than the ones served here. The service is strange. They try to make it fancy, but all it does it makes the experience less comfortable. For example, the waiter comes out with water and asks if you would like some. If you say yes, thy will fill up your glass, but if you say no, they will take away your glass :)) so if you change your mind mid eating, you have to ask them to get you a glass lol. When I and my party arrived we were seated promptly and given menus + water in short order. We ordered within 10-15 minutes of being seated, but had to order both our appetizer and entrees in one go. The service was pretty fast and the wait staff seemed to be in good spirits. We received our entree which was a margherita pizza (which I unfortunately didn't take a picture of) and it was pretty good a solid 3/5 in the flavor department. As for the entrees: Chicken and mashed potato with lemon and capers: This actually tasted quite nice, but the piece of chicken and overall portion was so small for a dish of that price. 4/5 Lasagna: The lasagna came out piping hot and was promptly devoured because it tasted so good! A bit heavy on the salt, but no complaints beyond that! 5/5 Bolognese: Really good portion size, bolognese sauce was full of flavor! 5/5 Risotto al funghi: Probably the largest portion size of any item my party ordered, but this had no flavor. It's as if the salt and seasonings were used on all the previous dishes and nothing was leftover for this. 1/5 The food overall was really good, the service fast, and despite the prices being so expensive we ended up paying less than $200 for our 4 entrees and pizza. Wow. What a great restaurant! Where do I begin? I came in with my aunt and extended family for dinner on a Sunday evening. We parked on Civic Center Dr., which was metered, but had enough space to comfortably parallel park. When we came in, we were greeted immediately and got to sit outside in the patio. I recommend sitting there if you can! It is quiet, quaint, and beautiful. Our server was so helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. We ordered three appetizers to share and for my dinner, I chose to order the special of the day (fettucine al pesto e burrata) which was a pesto with homemade fettucine pasta and burrata. Being the daughter of an Italian dad, I am a harsh judge of restaurants that claim to serve authentic Italian food, but Cafe Amici definitely does! Everything was so delicious! Even the bread that came out before the meal with fresh tomatoes and a white bean dip was incredible. I felt like I was back in Liguria (pesto's origin) when I tried my dish. The burrata was so creamy and fresh and went perfectly with my dinner. If they happen to have that when you come in, definitely order it! Although Cafe Amici is a little on the pricier side, the portions here were big enough that I was so full by the end of the meal, which can't be said for every restaurants in Beverly Hills. TLDR: underwhelmed, food and drinks are okay, but for the price you'd be better off elsewhere. The execution was simply dismal. Overall, this was a pretty substantial disappointment. The restaurant is located in an older, well kept hotel on the edge of the Beverly Hills neighborhood. The ambiance is nice, behind a pretty hedge and lit by table candles and nice looking gas heaters. Plus, as the few patrons in the restaurant, we enjoyed attentive service. However, the food and drinks were underwhelming at best. For starters, I had the old fashioned which was good but was pretty obviously Buffalo Trace or Bulleit Bourbon, so a quality cocktail but nothing impressive for $18. Generally, you'd expect better. The food was very underwhelming. The penne alla vodka was also palatable, but looked like someone had just poured canned sauce over noodles. There was no basil or herbs on top, just sauce and noodles. My friend got cacio e pepe and it was similar (with the exception of the pepper.) I was disappointed. read more
