This is one of one of my favorite restaurants in the area. It is beautifully decorated, family owned, and perfect for celebrations, date night, friends get togethers, and birthdays! They have the best Fish and Chips I've ever eaten, and probably best fries, period! It's MASSIVE, big enough to share (except I always want my own, hehe!) and tastes phenomenal! I've been here many times for dinner and a few times for brunch. I have not been disappointed in anything! I went here on a Friday night for dinner for the first time. The place is so cute and nicely decorated. It has a real comfy cozy feel to it. The waitress was exceptionally friendly and made us feel so special for our first visit. I had the sweet potato Taquitos and the lamb meatballs. The meatballs were good and filling but the star of the evening was this sweet potatoe Taquitos . Omg you get the sweet and savory they were so delicious I'm definitely going back for more. They have a great lunch special that includes a drink. The soup of the day was a vegan tomato tortilla soup. I'm usually not a fan of vegan food, so I almost skipped it--but they convinced me to give it a try, saying it wasn't what I might expect. They were right--it was amazingly good! The salad was super fresh, and I had the oat-fried chicken sandwich, which had a nice kick to it. The bun was incredibly soft. Everything was delicious. Service? Off the charts--20 out of 10! Horrible service by this rude nasty woman asian manager. Firstly, she didn't offer me water. I ordered a burger. It was cold and not cooked as I requested and had butter on the bun which I cannot eat with meat. The sliced tomatos were only pickled which I didn't want so she puts on little grape tomatoes. It was served with little crunchy onions rings which I said I did not want but she didn't pay attention and left them on anyway. What place can't serve a burger on a bun without butter, regular sliced tomato (not pickled) and regular onion? What a disappointnent! Never again! read more

My husband and I just moved to the neighborhood and found this wonderful restaurant. Beautiful cozy romantic decor. We love to split food so we can try more dishes. We had beef skewers. The Chancy Chicken, which was so moist. The seasonal salad. Everything was delicious. We were too full for dessert, but next time the peach cobbler is ours if it's in the menu next time. My husband had the Oat Fried Chicken Bahn Mi which had pickled veggies, jalapeño, cilantro, aioli. And I had the hearty Gourmand Burger with crispy leeks, toma cheese, organic tomato, basil, caper aioli. And for Happy Hour which starts at 3 pm we had the Cadillac Margarita and Half Farmer Salad. We tried a bunch of different items, including the guac, Korean fried chicken, the salmon tostada, salmon collar, and fish tacos. Extremely overpriced for what you get. The portion sizes are tiny, and the food itself was nothing special. What really stood out, though, was the poor service. The server clearly prioritized returning customers over anyone else, she barely acknowledged my family and me. I paid $20 for a small bowl of soup that didn't even come with bread or anything on the side. We had to wait an unreasonable amount of time just to get the check while she stood around chatting with familiar faces. The staff are extremely kind and nice. Very welcoming and genuine. Unfortunately, the food and service are the opposite. I got a standard breakfast which was subpar. I waited for over 40 minutes for my meal. At about the 40 minute mark, my friend heard the waitress yelling at the chef because the food ticket apparently was lost. Not sure how that happens. They did comp me an orange juice and a disgusting cookie (think worse than Subway with a strong aftertaste) for the delay. As for the food quality: "Seasonal vegetables" apparently means squash and one small green bean. My eggs were bland. The hash browns was a clearly reheated block of potato. My toast came naked: no butter or topping to be placed on it. But at least the staff is nice! read more

This restaurant and staff was absolutely amazing. I hosted a birthday brunch here with 40 people (with reservation), and they accommodated all of us. Chancey (I believe she's the manager?) helped me plan the entire thing, helped customize menus, printed individual menus, and the staff even decorated the room in my favorite color, with balloons and all! I can't say anything better about this restaurant. It's a cozy, yet spacious place. The food was also wonderful, I wish I took pictures but I was so caught up in the fun I was having. The favorites of my party and I were the chicken and waffles, and the Shrimp PO boy. Also, all the food is priced very fairly! There were also $20 bottomless mimosas, which a lot of us partook in. I was driving home and I was hungry. I thought about what I can make with the food that was in my refrigerator. But, then I also felt like not wanting to cook. Cue red lights and super cute decor outside to the right of me. Gourmando caught my attention with the sign that said " tacos and tequila"I literally U-turned in the middle of the road ha ha ha ha!!! There was a sign that said that there's parking in the back alley so I parked in the back alley walked around to the front. Met Chancey...she's awesome! I ordered a carne asada and a lobster taco. Then I found out it was happy hour buy one get one so of course I had to get a margarita. Andrew took my order, Chancey cooked it! There's a seating area over to the side. Instead of sitting I wanted to take pictures so I could leave a review so I can help infuse some business into this restaurant... these are times where we all have to help each other out! My order was ready. I took my margarita said goodbye to Chancey, got home and tore up my tacos. My favorite was the lobster taco! There's some amazing blue tortilla crunchy shell situation that was pure heaven!!! Then the carne asada... it had a soft taco shell which tasted like it was homemade you know I asked for all the trimmings so there was like you know I put the red sauce I put the orange sauce I put the wrap the radishes the cilantro just everything it was like my mouth was exploding with flavor! I ate here during the being of COVID quarantine, when Gourmando was doing takeout and converted itself into a market for a bit. I ordered the KFC Korean Fried Chicken, which was incredible. So tasty, I'm still thinking about it. I also got the salmon sashimi, which was so good -- I wish I had more of it! The food is made with a lot of love and it was really nice to see the chef and his family all working together. Also don't sleep on the chocolate chip walnut cookie -- it's so good! Nestled on Robinson, one block down from Wilshire and walkable (if you live in the area). Own by a wonderful Couple, who tag team exceptional service. We started with the warm lobster roll (shared it) melted those taste buds. Entrée was the roasted glaze duck breast and seafood pasta . We shared that too (just the thing to do when you're married). Duck was moist, savory and flavorful. Seafood pasta was cooked perfectly à la Dente, sauce was seasoned well and creamy. The highlight (it was my husband's birthday) and he was treated to the Birthday song but better a Chocolate Tarte consist of chocolate ganache, torch, marshmallows, candied spicy pecans, with a side of salted caramel gelato. The presentation was exquisite, served on a cake stand with a Happy Birthday design on the plate and of course the candle. My friends and I went here Saturday night on a whim after finding it on Google maps. We were greeted and seated fairly quickly in a cute little bistro. The menu looked so good that none of us could decide what we wanted, so we each ordered an appetizer and entree and shared with each other. The escargot was particularly garlicky and delicious. The duck breast was cooked perfectly, and the steak with tarragon butter was divine. But what kind of stole the show was the goat cheese cheesecake with blueberries and lemon compote for dessert. This is hands down my favorite place in the city. My wife and I have been to every "new, hot" restaurant, and we always go, "Was it better than Gourmando?" And the answer is almost always "no". Obviously eating out is expensive so we always like to try new places when we do, but this is the only place we keep coming back to year after year. The place is family-run, the staff is wonderful, and the food is just YUMMY. Chef Isaac Gamboa -- in my opinion -- is the hidden gem of Los Angeles. He's always updating the menu, so each time feels different. As much as I'd like to selfishly keep this place to myself, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. read more
