Diavola pizza
Vivi L.

Made a resy for Friday at 7:30 PM and honestly it was way easier than I expected. No wait at all. I thought it was going to be hard to get in because of how much people talk about this place, but it seems like the hype has died down a bit. One thing I didn't realize before going is that there are multiple levels. We got seated on the first floor, but the second floor has the bar and the third floor is rooftop and I feel like the experience would've been a lot better up there. So if you go, I'd definitely try to request that in advance. We started with the focaccia, which our waiter said is a 10-year recipe and basically the star of the restaurant. It was super soft, pillowy, and when you cut into it there's garlic baked inside. Simple but done really well. Definitely one of the highlights. Squash blossoms were interesting... first time trying something like this. It's basically zucchini flowers stuffed with a soft cheese (ricotta or a light cream cheese mixture with herbs), then battered and fried. I liked the idea of it, but execution-wise it was a little too greasy and very salty for me. After a couple bites it got heavy fast and I had to wash it down with a lot of water. Diavola pizza was solid. Not mind-blowing, but good. The salami had a nice kick and the crust had that char and chew you want from a wood-fired pizza. I enjoyed it, buttttt I just didn't feel like it stood out compared to other reeeallyyy pizzas in LA. The lamb pappardelle is where you can tell the chef knows what he's doing!! This dish was a slow-braised lamb ragu with pappardelle noodles, and parmesan. The pasta itself was cooked really well, perfect texture, and the lamb didn't taste gamey at all which I appreciated. At the end, when they gave the receipt, they also brought out these little treats... a small oatmeal bar and chocolate truffle balls, plus a Funke postcard. That was honestly really cute and thoughtful. Everything was good.... nothing was bad. But for the price point, I wasn't wowed or amazed. It didn't feel like a place I'm dying to come back to. I think if you go in knowing that it's solid but not life-changing, you'll enjoy it more. For me personally, I wouldn't come back... but I'm still glad I tried it once.

Came to Funke, one of several spots from chef Evan Funke, and honestly left a little underwhelmed. I'll give it three stars for now. It is a hot reservation, especially for a Friday or Saturday night. The place definitely draws a crowd. The space is trendy, but I just didn't love the vibe. It felt a bit off the night we went, maybe just an off night, but it didn't have the same energy or charm I've experienced at Felix Trattoria. Food is solid, but I didn't think it was as good as Felix. We ordered a good mix including the Spaghetti all'Arrabbiata, the famous Sfincione Bianco, a margherita pizza, and the rucola salad. Everything was good, but nothing really stood out the way it does at Felix. Even though some of the menu overlaps, the kitchen here is different and it shows. The drinks are great, consistent with his other locations. Service was also not even close to Felix, but still better than Mother Wolf, which added to the overall experience feeling a bit inconsistent. I also wasn't sure about the seating. We were upstairs, and I don't know if downstairs might be a better experience. Location: Beverly Hills, toward the end of the strip, which makes it feel a little tucked away. Kind of a funny location since there's a gas station right across the street, but the restaurant itself is a really nice space inside. Parking wasn't too bad, we parked in a structure across the street which made things easy. Overall, it's still worth trying given the hype, and I'll go again for sure. Maybe I just caught them on an off night. Cool fact: celebrities like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, Beyonce and JayZ,Meghan Markle, Kim Kardashian, Sofía Vergara, Bella Hadid, and Justin Bieber have been spotted here.

Beverly Hills pasta spot from Chef Evan Funke. Came here with my dad and we made a reservation online in advance, as we had to catch a show at the Annenberg Theater. We split a Dama Bianca salad to start followed by a Diavola pizza and rigatoni all'amaritriciana. The pasta/pizza dishes we picked were heavy and filling, so having a salad to have a light start was a good idea. My favorite was the pizza as it was spicy and the crust texture was just right. We ended with a passionfruit sorbet for dessert, which was very large and good to split. They gave us complimentary cookies and chocolates at the end as well which was nice. The ambiance was upscale but it's still family friendly, as there were small kids there. Parking available around via the Beverly Hills pubic garages.

Rooftop ambiance is great, music was better this time. It's open and public but also secluded and private. Service very attentive. Mocktails - too sweet with the passion fruit and tiny for the price. The almond pasta was the star of the show, not pictured below. Proteins are very expensive so be prepared. We had 2 pizzas and the zucchini flowers. For a meal of mild to moderate hunger you'll at least be spending $100 per couple and questionably not worth it, but the ambiance is special.

I did not take a picture of everything we got but the food was AMAZING! The chef studied in Italy and the food tasted just like we were in Italy. The atmosphere was great, loved the decor and the servers were all extremely kind and attentive. HIGHLY recommend the mortazza and the fior di zucca. Will absolutely be going back again !

The vibe is romantic and fun. Beautifully done inside and the rooftop as well. The food was great. Evan Funke definitely knows his pasta. Every thing we ordered were delicious. The only thing on the menu that our waiter failed to inform is the tagliatelle Raghu has no tomato sauce - it was with ground meat without any kind of sauce. It was ok - not the best. Cocktails $ liquor selection were decent. Valet is behind the restaurant. Overall ok experience. Corkage at $75

Made a reservation for dinner and tried: + Fior di zucca + Tortelli Butternut squash special + Persimmon and burrata special + Tagliatelle + Passionfruit sorbet The butternut squash tortelli was amazing. Also loved the zucchini blossoms and persimmon special. Unfortunately the tagliatelle was a huge letdown... like kind of dry? The server went on and on about how it's one of their signatures. Could not believe it was $50 lmao. Sorbet was decent, nothing too memorable. Overall a great meal, but too expensive for what it is and ultimately I would rather go to Antico Nuovo. 4.5 stars.

That pesto pasta was soooooo good. We tried a few dishes and a steak but the pesto stays in my memories. We would come back just for that.

Went for a birthday dinner tonight and it was so delicious. Even better than when it first opened, hence the 5 stars. The waiter was a little pushy on trying to get us to order more but we were more than stuffed with everything we got. To start we got the squash blossoms and arugula salad. Then moved on to the Amalfitana Pizza, busiate pistachio pesto pasta, arrabbiata pasta, and branzino which came with an amazing fennel/artichoke salad and herb sauce for the fish. Everything was beyond delicious and I would definitely order again. To end we had the apple tart which was perfect. Will definitely be back soon and will definitely grab a drink on the rooftop prior to dinner next time.

We dined at Funke to celebrate my nephew's birthday and they did not disappoint. The restaurant is beautiful ( I love the saying on the wall in the dining room "The Last Great Adventure is You"). Our waiter was friendly and very attentive, explaining everything on the menu and gave suggestions. We started with a couple of the Focaccia breads, has the house salad, most everyone in our party tried different homemade pasta dishes (everyone loved what they ordered), and I had the Almafitana pizza ( lemon). Which was so yummy, I'm glad I have leftovers for lunch). If you're in Beverly Hill this is a must try.

Now this is one of our favorite places. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the staff is wonderful, and the crowd is great. The food is delicious -- will we come back? Of course, yes. It's one of the few places where the music stays in the background, so you can actually have a conversation without raising your voice. The desserts deserve a special thank you! The coffee was served in very cute cups. Our Saturday dinner left us with such a great impression. This is the kind of place where everything is done at a very high level. I highly recommend it.

Ribeye - PHENOMENAL
Vanessa D.

This wasn't just dinner; it was a spiritual experience. First off, the hospitality was elite. I'm not a celebrity (spoiler alert), but the staff made me feel like I was accepting a Grammy. We were honestly a bit "extra" with our reservation changes, and instead of being annoyed, they were unbelievably patient and kind. They made us feel so welcome that I was approximately 3 seconds away from grabbing a server's hand and asking, "So... what are we?" The Libations: - Sole Nudo: Loved it. 10/10. - Sicilia: Just okay, but didn't ruin the vibe. The Main Events (The Food): - The Focaccia: The best I have ever had. Period. The outer layer is perfectly crispy, but it melts in your mouth. It was slightly on the salty side (maybe tone it down a pinch?), but I forgive you because it was delicious. - Arancini al Ragu: I'm usually not an Arancini fan, but these? Absolutely exceptional. Consider me converted. Also a bit salty. - Pappardelle with Duck: Again, I never order this, yet it turned out to be the best pasta of my life. - The Ribeye (The Star): Hands down one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Served with rocket salad and crispy potatoes. Life-changing. The "Cow" Incident: The ribeye took a minute to come out--I assume they had to go get the cow fresh--but they gave us a complimentary taste of red Sangiovese wine served by the sommelier while we waited. Class. The Verdict: Funke, I love you. This place has 3 floors (including a stunning rooftop) and every inch of it is perfection. Honestly? I would get engaged at this restaurant. That is the impact this place had on me. Go here immediately

Yes

Is there anything for a vegan here?

There sure is plenty!

Is the Bar area first come first serve or could I make a reservation? Does the bar close at 10:30PM?

Yes. And it's stupidity expensive. I'm not going back

Il Pastaio

There are restaurants in all the big cities in which I have lived that represent longevity,…read moreimage-power, popularity, and tradition. And, there is usually a good reason for their stardom. While I am a big fan of evolved dishes that are novel and fresh, I have always loved old fashioned, genuine (as in the way they are made in the Old Country) Italian food. Il Pastaio does not disappoint in that respect. I have spent enough time all over Italy, and am part Italian myself, to judge this place a must-try in Los Angeles. We rarely venture into Beverly Hills given what used to be a difficult parking situation. Not with Il Pastaio -- there is free public garage parking almost across the street. If you visit on a Sunday afternoon, you will find a spot effortlessly and you will avoid the crowds. That said, when we arrived around 1:30, Il Pastaio was packed, inside and out. Thankfully we had a reservation and they ushered us to the perfect table, inside (where I preferred to be on a sunny, cool but windy day), next to a bright (and spotless) window. I think there are people who prefer to be on the sidewalk in BH, so they can look for the cognoscenti and affluenti, LOL, but, I don't need to do that -- seen and been seen enough in my long life! Our table was perfect. View my photos. I love the vibe inside. Again, I can happily report, Il Pastaio reminds me of all the fine, small, and exquisite restaurants I frequented in Rome, Florence, and Milan, to name the biggies. The menu is extensive, and even though I had studied it beforehand on their website, it took me at least ten minutes to narrow down all the wonderful vegetarian dishes from which to choose. My photos show which were the lucky winners. There are meat dishes in abundance but, here's the open secret, Italians themselves are not avid meat eaters and all the portions abroad are small, hence multiple courses and few people eat too much at a meal. Lunch and dinner are also leisurely over there because Europeans see a meal as an event, not a blip in their day. The service was flawless, with our Italian waiter, Filippo, treating us as if we were Re Umberto and Regina Margherita. The table was very pretty and there was bespoke olive oil and vinegar ready for dipping the homemade bread that is served steaming in a napkined basket. I could smell it through the entire meal. Even the water came from Italy. Each course we chose came to the table at the perfect temperature, beautifully plated, and the previous were whisked away efficiently as soon as we were finished, as if by magic. All in all, this is a superb Italian restaurant. Fresh and new but traditional and comforting in its familiarity. I know we will return. Molto ben fatto, Signore Drago!

My reason for the three stars was the service. We did choose a later reservation time but I wish they just didn't have the reservation if they don't want to be there late. It took 25 minutes after us sitting for a server to ask what we wanted to drink. It was not busy maybe three other tables outdoor only the inside was closed. When our waiter was at the table he was annoyed at our questions regarding the tasting menu. It really made us feel awkward and dampered our whole experience which was really unfortunate because we loved the food and it was our last night in LA. I'd say make an earlier reservation maybe to receive better service. Also the espresso martini was disappointing it had ice and was very watered down. I'll end on a positive note that the Branzino was amazing. Everything on the dish tasted fresh. The burrata was also a hit for the whole table

I came here as a little girl with my family because it was casual enough for a well mannered child but fancy enough to please the adults. One time I decided to get into shape. Every time someone asked me out for lunch or dinner I said I wanted to go to Il Fornaio. I would order a bowl of the vegetable soup or vegetarian soup of the day and the Regina Salad. The salad did wild arugula, couscous, avocado, red onions, capers, raisins, and lemon oil dressing. It was a fabulous and filling meal that also kept me skinny. I could honestly eat it every day and never get bored. During Covid I came here and we ate outside on the sidewalk. We enjoyed watching the pedestrian scene and "staying safe" while being able to eat out again. I really missed going out and I felt comfortable here which was important during Covid time. Every Halloween Il Fornaio would have 1/2 price pizza. My family made a tradition to order it. I LOVED this tradition and I'm going to miss it this Halloween. Their pizza was delicious. One time I came here with a boyfriend because they had a cooking class in the back. They had a huge entertainment room in the back of the restaurant. I wish I had a chance to have a special event here to rent it out. We had so much fun as we watched the chef talk about how to prepare each dish and what was even better is that we got to taste it in the end. We ate seabass with golden raisins, baked pasta with eggplant, and a cannoli for dessert. They even had a party souvenir which was an Il Fornaio plate to hang on the wall. Last time I came here was on the Fourth of July last year. It was also dine-la and they had the best deal of any of the dine-la restaurants. Not all the dine-la deals are good but this one truly was one of the best in terms of value for money. It was a three course meal with the most delicious fish entree. Who doesn't love a good deal? We had a fabulous time! Lastly, in recent years they added a happy hour menu to the restaurant and it was fabulous. I did another review on that so I'll keep it short here but the food and drinks were just wonderful. I will miss the friendly waiters who have been there forever. I love the Dantes Beverly Hills wording on my drink, it's nice. For our APPETIZER we had the MARE MISTO, this one was seasoned very well, it had just the right amount of Salt on it, it was Crispy and very Tasty, and the Seafood on it was in big sizes, especially the shrimp. Whether you are there for a special occasion, a business dinner, a date night, or simply a great meal, it always feels like the right place. The room has a great buzz, the setting is beautiful, and the overall experience feels elevated from start to finish. The food was excellent across the board. Every dish came out beautifully presented, fresh, flavorful, and carefully prepared. You can tell there is a real commitment to quality and consistency. The menu offers a great mix of classic favorites and creative dishes, and everything we tried felt thoughtfully executed. Spago has a way of making even familiar dishes feel refined and memorable. One thing I always appreciate is that the food never feels like it is relying only on the restaurant's reputation. The kitchen continues to deliver. The pasta, gnocchi, steak, pizza, salad, and small bites were all enjoyable, and each plate had its own personality. The only issue was the Caesar salad, which was a bit more brown than a traditional Caesar, still tasted very good. The lettuce unfortunately did not appear fresh, but it was creamy, well-seasoned, and enjoyable. On another note, it did not offer us any fresh pepper. What really makes Spago special is the full experience. It is not just about one dish or one moment. It is the combination of history, service, atmosphere, presentation, consistency, and hospitality. That is what separates this restaurant from others a Spago has earned its reputation, and it continues to live up to it. This is the type of restaurant where you can bring out-of-town guests, longtime friends, family, clients, or anyone you want to impress, and feel confident that the experience will be memorable. The service is dependable, the food is delicious, and the setting always feels special. Spago never disappoints. It remains a Beverly Hills classic and one of those restaurants that continues to prove why it has been around for so many decades. We had a wonderful meal, excellent service, and a truly enjoyable evening. Highly recommend, and we will absolutely be back.

Spago Beverly Hills is truly a legend -- timeless, iconic, and still living up to its reputation…read more I loved everything about this dinner: the plating, the ingredients, the atmosphere, and especially the pastas. Everything felt beautifully executed and just very, very perfect. The service was 10/10 -- polished, attentive, and effortless. The crowd also has a beautiful Beverly Hills energy. Less influencer-driven, more elegant, loyal, repeat-customer kind of feel. I probably come to Spago twice a year, and it always feels special. This time, I brought friends visiting from Shanghai, and the evening became even more memorable when Chef Wolfgang Puck happened to chat with us and talked about his restaurant in Shanghai on the Bund. Such a pleasant and personal moment. Thank you, Spago, for another beautiful dinner.

The experience did not disappoint -- it was beautiful from beginning to end. Our extraordinary server was James. He was engaging, attentive and unpretentious. His knowledge of the menu was impressive as he explained each section and item in a simplified way. After making our choices, he suggested changing one of our pasta selections since they all had heavy sauces. We accepted his recommendation of the Spaghetti Arrabbiata, which turned out to be everyone's favorite! The tomato-based sauce was light and perfectly spicy. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was amazing. The focaccia, oxtail meatballs and burrata with ham were a great start, showcasing the quality of the ingredients and thoughtful preparations -- they set the tone for our entire meal. The taste and texture of the freshly made pastas were unmistakable and so, so good with the wonderful sauces. The lamb chops were well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. I especially enjoyed the bed of sliced snow peas, green beans and English peas set over mint sauce. After all that, we had just enough room for shared desserts -- Budino and Tiramisu. Both were the perfect finish to a delicious meal. If you like chocolate, the Budino is for you -- rich but not overly sweet. Each yummy bite with the crumble topping was nicely balanced by the sprinkled salt. Service was impeccable and well-coordinated. We especially appreciated that dishes and utensils were changed after each course. A couple things to keep in mind: *Reservations - Via Resy. The reservation window is open 14 days at a time. *Parking - Valet is right in front. We found street parking just around the corner on Sunset (metered but free after 7pm). *Price Point - Approximately $100 per person. Mother Wolf is a cashless establishment. A 5% wellness fee is added to all checks. We will absolutely be back!

There's both indoor and outdoor patio seating - the patio is definitely the highlight. It's so beautiful with the tree cover above and feels like a magical, cozy courtyard. Service was great throughout our meal as well. The dishes are on the small size which is great for sharing and trying a variety of items! What we tried: - Scallop medallions: 3 scallops in a carrot parsnip puree with capers - the scallops were cooked perfectly - golden crisp on the outside and soft on the inside - Lamb hummus: this might have been my favorite!! A flavorful braised ground lamb paired with hummus and fresh pita and veggie pieces - Sea bass: pan seared sea bass (sooo soft and flaky!) with a savory corn, shredded cabbage, shallot, and aioli combination - Shawarma tacos: chicken sharwama, shredded cabbage, and pickled red onion tacos. Not bad but probably the one dish I could have skipped - Stuffed mushrooms: sooo yummy - mushrooms stuffed with a cheesy walnut pesto, just a perfectly savory - Glazed pork belly: so hearty! Perfectly glazed and seasoned pork belly

Unique open cavern atmosphere houses this festive and tasty place. I had been here years ago when…read moreit was a Greek restaurant, but finally made it to Bacari W 3rd. It can get loud (music bellows a bit at the beginning of the day) until the crowds absorb that sound. It also takes a bit of time for the full staff to appear as two servers were working the entire place for a bit too long. Bacari W 3rd is nonetheless highly recommended. It's fun to try a variety of dishes and land some very welcome flavors. The house cured olives with Marconi almonds are great, and go nicely with pretty much any beverage you can think of. The house baked baguette is something you think you can live without, but then you cave, and it's so worth it. A nice olive to go along with it, or dip it into the chili oil from the olives. Cold: the shrimp ceviche (citrus fennel vinaigrette, heirloom cherry tomatoes, cucumber, za'atar, sesame, sumac, lime chili chips = yum. Hot: The Bacari Burger is memorable - open-faced grass-fed beef, tomato, caramelized onion, Worcestershire aioli, telera roll and they throw an egg on it, too. Pizza: The lamb shakshouka pizza sounded adventurous enough to try, and I definitely liked it. The shakshouka appeared buried under arugula and hard boiled eggs, and was not as 'wet' as I expected. Still, it was enjoyable - and the crust had a great crispness. Desserts: The Malbi sounded quirky and irresistible, and it turned out to be a major win. Also enjoyed the bread pudding (clover honey custard, vanilla bean ice cream). The servers did a great job and deserve more support. At the start of a Saturday Brunch, there were only two staff on the floor and they were run pretty hard around the restaurant until more team members appeared. The music can be a bit loud - especially if you're near a speaker and/or the place is still filling up. Overall, fun place, cool vibe, delicious food.
