Oh em gee. That is how I can say me and my two friends felt. This place served incredible food from start to finish. My friend said she had not eaten a meal like this in LA in a very long time. The flavor profile, the combination of textures, perfection. My only thing I was not a fan of (but my two friends loved) was the sweet dessert bread. Only because I could taste the alcohol and I am not a fan of that type of alcohol. But the fluffiness and softness was amazing. Trust me it was all eaten but I only had one piece. I really hope this place can make it as this area has had so much turnover. Because this resto is gonna be really hard to top!

A STAR IS BORN -- 10/10 Lielle is an instant addition to the shortlist of Los Angeles' most exciting new fine-dining restaurants. Newly opened on Pico Boulevard in the former Bicyclette space (we'll never forget you Bicyclette!), Lielle is the latest project from Swedish chef Marcus Jernmark, and it already feels like a restaurant operating with the confidence of a decades old restaurant. The dining room strikes that perfect balance of elegance and warmth, and the entire experience--from service to pacing to the food itself--feels thoughtful, polished and ambitious while never overwhelming or overwrought. The $150 tasting menu is one of the most compelling values in serious dining in LA right now. Course by course, the kitchen showcases refined sensibility with global touches and precise technique. The classy service starts with crudite vegetables along with fresh and warm bread and butter minutes after sitting down. A beautiful opening of artichoke and citrus with guanciale and black truffle vinaigrette sets the tone with brightness and depth. The abalone "BBQ," served with seaweed rice and fermented hen-of-the-woods sauce, is a standout--deeply savory and layered with umami. The uni spaghetti alla chitarra with prawns (only exclusive to the specials menu for March - sadly) is a top-5 pasta I've ever eaten in my life. Aged Californian squab with yuzu pepper and walnut miso lands as the meal's main protein, perfectly cooked and richly flavored. The experience ends with dessert - an iced sea buckthorn dessert - built around tea, milk, and honey. It provides a refreshing, elegant finale that feels both Nordic, mysterious and modern. For a restaurant that has just opened its doors, Lielle already feels like a place with a clear voice and a very bright future. At $150 (expensive for some sure, but when you see a $1,000 a plate tasting menu, this is a bargain) for the tasting menu, it punches well above its weight in the current LA fine-dining landscape. If you consider yourself a serious LA diner--or just someone who loves discovering the city's next great restaurant--this is one reservation you should grab now before the word spreads even further. 10/10. One of the best new openings in Los Angeles in years.

Lielle took over the suddenly shuttered Bicyclette and promptly scraped all the Bistro Decor but left the loud Loop which vacillates between a Blue Cheer Concert and a great background 70's and 80's song sampler. It depends on who's manning the stereo knob. The new space is intimate, romantic, adult and as gorgeous as a Hollywood A-Lister. The dining room is bathed in soft lighting and muted charcoal tones. Relax and settle in and let Chef Marcus take you on a culinary magic carpet ride. It has a Euro feel to it which no doubt cost plenty of Euros. Lielle generates a clubby Supper Club vibe to pair nicely with the innovative creations coming from the confident experienced kitchen. A wide open kitchen anchors the room and is busier than the NY Stock Exchange at the opening bell. Meeted, greeted and seated like you are family. Within moments you'll be treated to an Amuse Bouche. My bouche was more than amused and amazed. It was small plate of Baby Radishes, fresh pickled Snap Peas, with a mega dot of Herby Aioli. Add to that a warm crusty mini Sour Dough Loaf with Day-Glo Yellow Normandy Butter in a swirl. Chef Marcus knew the names of each Jersey Cow who gave it up just for his Lielle diners. The Staff: A regiment of black clad Servers, Bussers, and Runners who are helpful, attentive and all in constant motion like a human Pachinko Machine. No silver crumb scoop pushing the crumbs into your lap. A custom made Japanese tight bristle brush moving the crumbs onto a crumb plate. Voila, in short order my table cloth was once again unsullied and pristine. I should have brought my three pairs of dress shoes for a good buffing. The Bar: The Wine list is as deep as a fermentation tank in Reims. Add to that a rockin' list of Mocktails which is the au curant rage and also Sobriety Checkpoint approved and complaint. Who's rubbing elbows and other parts in the dining room? Daughters and Dads at 5:30 and "Nieces" and "Uncles" at 8:00. The Food: For fickle foodies. The food is glorious and perfect for those who appreciate food as an art form. So, you snagged a coveted table? You've signed up for the only option, a four course (plus a few add-ons and surprises) tasting menu. The First Course was Artichoke Heart quarters and a melange of Citrus (Orange and Grapefruit) Supremes (segments) which could change depending on what's best at the Farmers' Market. Slices of Guanciale were thin enough to lay over a Hinge profile and still read what you might be getting into. A spoon of Roasted Yeast Vinaigrette was drizzled on and around this lovely dish. Good thing you saved a wedge of bread for mopping and sopping. This was a great start to a wonderful adventure. Time for a no booze Barley Tea Apple Cooler which paired with everything. The next course was Abalone "BBQ" served with crisp Seaweed Rice, with puddles of both Fermented Maitake and Shitake Sauces. Chunks of puppy tummy tender Abalone with notes of the sea were lurking underneath. This dish was sublime and in less capable hands in a less capable kitchen Abalone can be nothing more that a briny Chiclet yanked from a tidal pool without proper prep. The Third Course was the main event, to wit, Aged California Squab no doubt named by the Madmen who changed a Patagonian Toothfish in to a Chilean Seabass. Let's be real. A Squab is a Pidgeon. These are probably flying Veal and not those greedy little beasts crapping on your neighbor's Mercedes, something a Tom Cat lusts for, or fat feathered creatures pecking crumbs off your table and plate while you dine al fresco. This regal birdie evolved from a pauper to a Prince in this kitchen. A beautiful oval Breast on a nest of Baby Spinach Leaves hiding Offal bits and Poached Ginkgo Nuts. This was the equal of any Squab at Le Cote Basque in NYC and L'Esperance in Vezelay, France. But I digress, this Squab was a heart throb. The Spaghetti alla Chitarra was house made Pasta cooked just right and then charred (a technique that requires expert handling). It was presented in a coiled tangle with Santa Barbara Uni, Spot Prawn Tartare and micro Basil Leaves along with a slow crawl of heat that lingered gently on the tongue. The Finale was Iced Sea Buckthorn Tea with Milk and Honey that looked like Norman Rockwell had painted a perfect Poached Egg. This was magnificent and memorable. The whole meal was. Lielle, I feelle your passion.

I have no doubt Lielle will get their michelin stars soon. Chef Marcus Jernmark really knows what he's doing. They've only been open for 5 weeks and the restaurant felt seasoned. All the staffs are friendly, courteous and attentive. The food is phenomenal. And the venue is upscale but not stuffy. We ordered all the optional items on top of the tasting menu and all the dishes were fantastic. Hard to pick a favorite but if I have to pick one.. I'd say the bbq abalone is exceptional. We live in Pasadena and Lielle is a bit of a drive... but definitely worth the journey.

Parking: Plenty of street parking in LA, both metered and free, right near the restaurant. There's also a $15 valet right out front. Ambience: I love the vibe inside! It's dimly lit with lots of candles and perfect lighting for photos. The American playlist is fun, but it could be a bit better--just a small note! Food: For $150, we got four courses, which is a great deal for the quality. The plating was beautiful, and everything tasted amazing! We added a couple of extra dishes from the menu: the uni & scampi pasta and another pasta I can't remember the name of, but both were fantastic! We also tried some local California cheeses, which were super interesting--not your typical cheeses, definitely on the funky side, but worth a try! Service: Our server Kimian, sommelier Philip, and Cher Marcus were all friendly and gave us great service. We made a last-minute reservation about an hour before we arrived at 5:30 PM, and check-in was smooth. They were really attentive all night. Overall: My friends and I are definitely coming back! This is now my favorite restaurant in West LA!

    Misleading waitlist that doesn't exist.

To be fair, this review is about the chaotic booking system, not the food. As enthusiasts of Nordic cuisine, we were excited to try this new restaurant. Since reservations were impossible to get due to the hype, we decided to walk in right when they opened. Their Resy page clearly mentioned that the walk in bar was available without reservation (see photo). We showed up on a rainy Tuesday after driving more than an hour from SGV, only to have the receptionist, Lucas, tell us they were not ready to serve customers at the bar and maybe would be in a few weeks. My question is simple. If you are not ready, why mislead people? I politely asked Lucas if, since we were already there, he could help us book a future reservation. He said the system would not allow him to do so. He kept saying sorry and suggested we email the restaurant and mention his name. If he truly cared and wanted to help, he could have at least written down our names and phone number. Of course, he did not. Another issue is their so called waitlist on Resy, which appears to be misleading as well. I joined the waitlist at 6:10pm, and at 8:49pm received a notification that a table was ready. However, Lucas told us they only have two seatings, at 5:30pm and 8pm. So how is it possible that a table suddenly became available at 8:49pm? (See photo) LA diners love trying new restaurants, but how many actually last more than one or two years? I am pretty sure Lielle has delicious food, but a restaurant with a chaotic system and inattentive front desk puts its own future at risk. I hope this review serves as a wake up call, especially considering what happened to the previous two restaurants in the same location. Thanks so much for your time and attention reading this.

I loved everything about this restaurant! We had the best waiter ever, his name is Bruce Lee and he greeted us and took the best care from start to finish! Our dishes were art, flavors were unique and portions are small but by the time you get your last course, you realize everything was the perfect amount. I loved the details of the warm towels in the beginning, the table, drinks, utensils, etc... being refreshed after every dish. We'll definitely be back and spread the word!

The decor is very elegant and you do feel like you are there for a nice dinner. Staff was attentive. Before the menu begins, you are treated to a delicious warm loaf and butter along with some sweet veggies. The food is well executed and plated nicely. While there was no weak course and everything was quality, there is also nothing that truly stands out. Pacing of the courses could use some work. A lot of waiting for the next dish and it seemed like a common theme for all the tables around. We were there on their third week so I'm sure this has been worked out by now. We were able to find street parking in the area.

Extraordinary meal! I've been so fatigued by fine dining and this was just the meal I needed. Order both the pasta supplements. Great wine list and Erica (SOMM) was excellent. Music was great to. If you didn't like this meal, the problem isn't Lielle, it's you.

The place itself is very modern and nice. Overall the vibe it basically a Houston's-type place. And service was good. All of the food overall was very good. Nothing really too crazy. To me, the menu is a little... boring. But, I will say everything was tasty. We got the Cajun shrimp salad (which was simple and clean but tasty), a cheese pizza for the kids (which was good!), a brisket French dip (very tasty and a horseradish sauce with a LOT of bite), a vodka pasta (was good but it actually is TOO big a portion to eat by one's self), the Ahi Tuna frites (the tuna was good and served with a nice green sauce), and the grilled cabbage side (with brown butter and some pomegranate molasses--it was actually my favorite thing!). The key distinctive thing about Laurel Grill seems to be that a lot of things get cooked by that fire which really adds a nice smoky touch (like the shrimp and the ahi tuna and the cabbage). My only major complaint would be the fries were just okay. After a minute or two they weren't crispy anymore. As good as everything else was, I thought they would step things up with the fries but they were just average. Anyways, while I overall am not that excited by the menu, it definitely is a great place to go where everybody will be able to find something tasty to eat. And overall, the portions were pretty fair.

I was a little concerned about some of the reviews but we had such a wonderful experience. A lot of the negative reviews had to do with customer service, and our experience was quite the opposite. We were served everything quickly and attentively, and our main server gave great recommendations and apologized for "waits" when there wasn't even a wait! After we were seated, we asked to be moved to the pretty spacious table next to the large window, and they were happy to accommodate. Giving us a memorable experience seemed to be very important to all of the staff. Drinks - I fell in love with the Dillinger (Old Forrester, Mexican corn whiskey, licor de elote). It tasted like a slightly sweet kettle corn old fashioned. My husband actually ordered it, and traded drinks with me because I loved it so much. Food - We ordered the scallop crudo to share, the house baguette, and French onion soup to share. I'm glad we ordered the scallops and the strawberry pairing was unexpected and interesting. My personal fave was the soup, which our servers kindly split into 2 tureens for us to share (soup is pretty hard to share otherwise, amirite?) It was so delicious that I found myself peeling the extra cheese from the bowl. For mains, I went with the Tagiatelle and husband ordered the steak frites. While the pasta was delicious and rich with flavor, the wagyu was one of the juiciest, most tender and well-seasoned steaks I've had in a while and I'm not even a big steak/red meat lady. Paul just ordered better than me overall! The live jazz band added even more to the beautiful ambiance. You wouldn't be out of place dressing fancy like we did, or even getting up to dance!
